This is driving me nuts and I need some help, please.
When selecting what app to use as default for things like opening web links or galary, the app won't stick and asks again the next time I do the same action. For instance, if I click on a link in a text it asks me what browser to use, I'll select the stock browser and then "always" so that it won't ask me next time, but then I'll immediately go back and select the same link and it asks again what browser to use. This does appear to be only happening with built in apps. This started about a month ago and I've used several ROMS since then (currently on latest synergy) and all with the same problem whether its an AOSP rom or TW.
This morning I Odin back to stock, rerooted and unlocked the bootloader, flashed synergy and let my apps reinstall from the market rather the using Titanium Backup to do it. I haven't restored any data from previous roms/apps and its still not keeping the default selection.
I've searched the web and other people are having similar issues after a reboot but mine happens constantly whether I reboot or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was playing with a ROM and decided that it wasn't for me so restored a back up I had made a couple of hours earlier and Android Market is now missing.
I have tried restoring it and a couple of previous back ups but still no Market.
Found a couple of APK's for the Market and while the phone claims to have installed them, I have the icon, the app won't launch.
Any ideas before I return to stock and start over ?
What rom were you using?

Went from Cyanogen to Gingerbeast and back again.
Curious as trying new ROM's isn't exactly a new thing for me or this device.
Best bet would be do a full wipe and then a clean install of either ginger or cm7

That is what I was thinking but just wanted to make certain I wasn't missing a trick.
Thanking you muchly
All you have to do is flash the Google Apps addon. It will install the market app.
Knew I would find a better way.
Many thanks !
I remember when I was on stock factory rom my GPS was working perfectly.
Now on custom rom rooted it bearly gets my location right..
Opinions?

Funny, on stock I could never get a lock. Try this: set the GPS source to internal
Grab an app called GPS status
Run it and let it download the "aiding data" them reboot, relaunch it, seconds later you should have a lock.

What rom?

I'm having the exact same issues. I used to have trouble locking but now as soon as I enable gps my phone reboots. I'm gonna try wiping it clean tomorrow and running the dragon kernel to see if it helps. Running Bionix Reloaded (latest)
anyone know a quick fix without rebooting?

I too have instant locks on any stock based rom after updating my baseband. But, after flashing custom CM7/EB/ etc non stock roms i noticed it took a little longer to lock if it even locked. So i seen a post here on xda about going into the maps app via settings/ applications/ manage applications. Then clear cache/data. Then going back into navigation or maps app i would receive instant locks again. Sorry I dont have a link to that thread but thats what helped me. it takes a few extra seconds to do that but i liked it better than rebooting my phone which took longer.
I know of the issue with the 4.2 ROMs. You must perform some tricks, such as change CDMA subscription, etc.. but that's not working for me. Still stuck on Roaming
So instead, everyone says.. flash a 4.1 AOSP ROM, and then dirty flash into 4.2. OK, so that doesn't work either, and even checking the CDMA subscription for RIUI or whatever, I still get stuck on Roaming.
As soon as I wipe and restore my TouchWiz backup, I'm back to no problems.
What is my plan of action in order to get a working 4.2 AOSP ROM? I've tried Wiping, 4.1 -> 4.2, and no go.
Help? I'm usually great at hacking, flashing, etc.. I got a 4.2 ROM working once, but forgot to create a backup. Now I can't get one working again.

Tried several reboots in both 4.1, and 4.2 with clean flashes. Tried it also in the 4.1 -> 4.2 dirty flash..
The setting sticks after a reboot, but still in R mode.
Ok try this... install cm 10.1 with no g apps. This will take you straight past the activation screen. Nor only do you change subscription but also network to automatic. Then reboot. I believe it's network. Can't remember exactly but it's right above the other one. I'm not on a 4.2 ROM to see right now but I know this works for me.

How do I properly set it up on the vzw gs3? It asked me to install a patch file and so I chose Samsung and my model wasn't there, there was SCH-I939 I think but no SCH-I535 so I just picked the first one above cause it was closest. And it works except when I expand or lower the window bar I get "FlashBarService" has stopped and the resize bar disappears while multi window is still going. I created a backup before patching thankfully, should I restore to it and choose a different model number for the patch or what?
I am on stock rooted VRBMF1 by the way

I didn't let it install the patch file and its working fine for me. I just picked "later" the first couple times it asked, and then hit "never". No issues so far. I've only added four our five apps and removed some of the stock apps that I won't use, so I'm not sure what would happen if you added a bunch, or all, apps. I'm on stock MF1 too, just rooted.

I'm running the Hyperdrive RLS6 ROM with the latest Zeus kernel and, recently, the recent apps list has been very slow to load and recognize my touches. It wasn't like this right after flashing the ROM so I'm guessing it's due to an app update, but I can't seem to trace what it is. Nothing obvious in BetterBatteryStats and nothing I kill seems to improve the speed. Just to give you an example, in a recent test it took 13 seconds for the tablet to even highlight the app I had selected and switch to it.
Oh, and sometimes the app that opens is the wrong one altogether.
Otherwise, everything on the tablet behaves normally and, once the recent apps list recognizes what I've selected, it loads rather quickly. Any idea what app or setting might affect this?

I'm running RLS6 too, and I was getting that delay too. So I reflash the rom using Stock kernel, and it's running smooth now. But you may also want to try "fstrim" to try to remove some of the lag.
My advice is:
1. Use Lagfix "fstrim" ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grilledmonkey.lagfix) and trim /system /data and /cache then reboot.
2. If it doesnt help, reflash using stock kernel (full wipe).

Thanks. I was used to lagfix on my ASUS Transformer tablet but haven't needed to do this since getting my Note. I'll give it a shot.
Whoa, I get "FSTRIM: Operation not supported on transport endpoint" for all mount points. I know this used to work on previous kernels though, as I mentioned earlier I never found it to be necessary. Can someone verify if the latest Zeus kernel supports this?
