hey guys... i've searched on this for a bit now but havent found people with similar issues
Got my 727r ... which is using CM10.1 nightlies... been updating once a week since january
the one issue that drives me nuts is that i cant use my front camera... in stock camera app if i switch to front camera gallery crashes and then i cant open the camera app at all anymore... if i use another camera app i just get black feed from the front camera.... i have the latest Gapps and currently the latest nightly build...
if i revert to 10.0 the camera works again.
anyone else running into this?

Nope you need to do a full clean install.

Ok... Finally had some time to do more investigating on the issue and things only got worse.
I do a full wipe/clean install on all my flashes.... that means wipe all caches, wipe the isd cards, and factory reset
anyways... flashed with the official stock ROM for rogers in Odin and the front camera seems to be broken in there too now... so just to to test i then wiped everything, and installed CM10 to see if it still works... no dice... now the front camera is broken in all roms ive tested, and non standard camera apps exhibit this behaviour too... I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue which would really suck.
All in all i'm out of ideas short of taking it to someone who can look at the hardware.

A couple of months ago I was messing around with my wife's infuse, and I installed an app called ..Sammy hidden features..the infuse was totally stock on 2.2..upon playing with the apps features I ended up checking and updating the camera firmware. Ever since the rear facing camera is green and it doesn't take pics, the camera apk works fine and front camera works fine. My fixes I've tried were,
Root
GB leak
Odin back to stock via heimdale
Reroot on froyo
Flashed numerous roms
Same result everytime, logic says its a physical camera issue, but it worked fine before I tinkered with that app, I messed with the phone because I was checking for official GB update...lol...any ideas?

Well, a lot of people has seen this thread, and nobody has responded. So Imma get the ball rolling.
Have you tried using any other app? Maybe puddingcamera? I find that works great when the stock app is mad at me.
It's odd though.. that an odin didn't fix an issue like that. :/

UCam is my camera of choice.
Sent from my Infue 4G looking for a new ROM since zeus is dead using XDA Premium.
i certainly have, i have recently been searching for firmware..I found some..and actually some galaxy devices use the same camera module firmware. Installing it is the issue...I tried to manually input some lib files and script. .crashing was thw only result. I imagine the only fix would be a. tar via odin..guess ill keep trying..any advice is welcome..but for a fact i know the front cam...era module is bricked...Information on the issue is sketchy at best..thx for the post!
if your looking for somthing new, Odin back to stock, then heimdal to GB 2.3 6, then heimdal red clockwork..flash aeon rom..then look for the new OC kernels for the ucbla3 modems aet at 1.6ghz..
and be amazed! Screen is HD and fast fast no lag...doesnt even look like an infuse anymore!
Hi all.
I am trying to figure out why when I start a Google hangout, my wife's Infuse refuses to use the front facing camera, it defaults to the rear camera. Everything else works, but would like it to have the ffc as the default.
It doesn't even give me a choice to flip to which camera to use during the hangout.
It is a rooted + unlocked Infuse ATT, using the stock froyo 2.2.1 rom.
Thanks
Heeter

i dont think froyo has the camera framework for front facing video outside the camera program. the first version of android to support that was gingerbread because of its launch device, the nexus s. you should upgrade to gingerbread and try again. though to have it in a google hang out, you might even need ics or higher. im not sure.
Thanks for that response,
I was kind of figuring that I will have to upgrade the ROM for it to work.
I was kind of hoping that I could avoid it.
Thanks again,
Heeter
Hey guys. i´ve been on ViperS a while and I really like it. Except that taking pictures/videos doesn´t work on V. 1.4.1. I read somewhere that this has to do with the libs used to enable HDMI(if that´s wrong I´m sorry, not a dev).
Then I tried the new Elegancia Sense 4.1 3.0 Rom. Taking pictures works here but when flash is used the phone turns off and the photo wasn´t taken.
Are these 2 cases rom mistakes or is something broken?
Thanks in advance.
Not sure about those roms but camera both front facing and regular are working perfectly with the new pac man rom. I can confirm this. You should give this rom a try. It's fast, smooth as silk and has a great battery life. It's probably something in there roms causing the f.C. but if you download pac man and the camera doesn't work, then likely it's your device causing the problem. I confirm that the camera IS working on this rom. Do some experiencing and download pac man and see if it's working. If it doesn't work then you know it's a problem with your device. Hope this helps and best wishes!

No I have been using Viper for a long time and camera works great. It has nothing to do with the libs. The lagfix has nothing to do with camera, it just makes the phobe a bit smoother, but no hdmi. Also Elegancia's camera works well, I have tried it in the previous release.
So either you have installed smth that interferes with camera app (I highly suggest you make a fresh install of the rom), or you don't have the right firmware (firmware 3.33 is suggested in both), or your hardware is broken (camera itself doesn't work).
You can also try different roms and see if problem persists.
P.S if you are refering to continous shooting, than it's a known problem and it can't be fixed because our hardware isn't compatible. The solution is to turn continous shooting off in camera app

Hello! I know I probably should post this in the dev thread for my ROM, but I mostly lurk here so I don't have enough post count to be granted posting privilege in dev forums yet... x_x
Anyway, I am running Slim Bean 4.3 on a Samsung Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile model, T-989 AKA Hercules). The ROM works great for the most part, but I am having some issues with the camera.
First off the camera app that came bundled with Slim Bean seems to be a modified version of the stock Android 4.3 app, and had the PhotoSphere mode removed... I uninstalled it using Titanium Backup and then installed the stock 4.3 camera app, and now PhotoSphere is working, which is great. But that wasn't the main issue...
The main issue is that in both the camera app that came with Slim Bean, as well as the stock Android 4.3 camera app, the photos I take from Panorama and PhotoSphere modes come out extremely blurry. It's almost as if these two modes have absolutely no control over the camera's focal settings.
Strangely, this issue does NOT affect the standard photo mode (thankfully), so everyday photos aren't affected. But as it stands, I pretty much cannot take photos using the Panorama or PhotoSphere modes.
I was just wondering if this issue is device-specific? Or have other people on non-4.3-supported devices who flashed a custom 4.3 ROM also experienced this issue?
Thanks in advance for your answers!

I just flashed back to 4.2 (CM 10.1) but it looks like the camera is still blurry in panorama mode... I don't see this on the known issues list for CM though. Does anyone know if this is a known issue for this specific device?

i remember flashing cm 4.2 back i think a year ago when 4.2 came out and the camera had some bugs still, i would recommend using a downloaded camera app that normally works.

I'm having the exact same problem with CM 4.1.2 and 4.1.3. Looks like it just gets stuck on the minimimum focus distance.
Is anyone experiencing lag while using the camera, more specifically and frequently while recording video? I am and its new since the update. FWIW I'm using the odexed, rooted build posted by scrosler.

Can you be a lil more specific as to when(give me your scenario) you are noticing the lag? Im on the latest VZW firmware running IC r177 and I'm not seeing any difference. I did 2 30sec clips and everything seems normal to me.

Thanks for chiming in. A few things that have happened:
1) Camera is slow to switch between camera and camcorder
2) Occasionally while shooting video, screen will freeze then recording resumes 1-2 seconds later
3) Seems like there is more delay between pressing the shutter button and the picture being captured.
Thanks!

2) Im not notcing this one at all.
3) This definately does seem slower than before
I guess I havent really used my cam/vid since updating to the latest firmware so I didnt really notice it until now.

Thanks, I need to figure out a solution. I use may camera all the time and the current performance with the latest update is unacceptable. I may go back to 4.4.2 or see if the old camera works on the newest firmware.
