[Q] having bootloop all the time why? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

hi , can somebody help please cause its getting really annoying ,i have a htc one x att am on viper xl 3.2.7 ElementalX 6.5 overclock at 1.6 and 1205mv wich means i put +5 mv over the default 1200mv and it keeps bootlooping each time am doing something important why?

Your phone may not like the elemental kernel at those settings. Each phone is slightly different. Try installing it again and leave evrything at default and see if this clears it up or roll back to an earlier version.

I find that 1.2 is just enough. I'm not viper, but I am sure that should be good. When I'm playing heavy games (batman, spiderman, racing, etc) its always fluid.
1.6 seems a bit too high, not to mention it may heat up

Ya I'd reflash kernel

There are no setting, the ultimate version is already configured.

Just flash and use it. You can technically change the governor if you'd like to use something else, but doing that will take away the work they've put in to make this mod work at its best.
The consensus is that when you flash and reboot it won't work...you must clear dalvik and cache...from what I've seen this is the difference between it working and not working.
Hope that helps.

I think what he's asking is how to tell if it's working. As others have said, no settings but you can see what's going on with this app

For the most part people have flashed a different kernel specifically one from the kernel thread in the dev section. That's what I did when I wanted to use the 1.8GHz setup on the last build of AOKP

Yeah thanks I did that but there really isn't a difference in speed I checked benchmarks too and there really low like it even dips into the 2000 which I don't understand I know that has nothing to do with real world prefromabce but why is the benchmarks so low
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I still don't get why people still talk about about benchmark. I mean the guy says he knows it doesn't matter in real world usage. If that's the case then what's the point in asking? Isn't your phone fast as hell? Faster than ever? Faster than any other? Seriously I don't even have that benchmark app on my phone...lol.

I don't know about the benchmarks but I was using CM9 alpha 4 all day and everything ran pretty smooth. Got home and flashed the dual core mod and any noticeable hangs from before are completely gone!

That's sick. I'll have to check the new CM9 build. I was using alpha 3 for a while but was having service issues, my phone kept going back to 3g or edge when I normally get 4g.

If you try the cm9 alpha build I would try flashing the 1.73 radio I seem to get better connection but I have non lte area..just what I noticed with the 1.88 radio I had good speeds but wouldn't stay connected.. with 1.73 I stay connected more but less speed..

I'm in an LTE area (can't get LTE to work though =\) and have been running the 1.73 radio on CM9 for the past couple days. I've had to reboot a lot because of losing signal and it not reconnecting. The radio from the 2.09 leak is now available so I'm gonna give that a go for a few days.

Is it a new area to get LTE...I am wondering if its an at&t tower issue? As we know LTE isn't the most stable yet.

No I live in downtown Toronto.
It's Bell LTE. It was basically the only thing that worked well when I had stock sense on my phone.

HTC Sensation 4G CPU gets really hot.

My Sensation is running OrDroid 9.0.0 Sense 4.0 Rom. It gets warm/hot when using simple apps like facebook, messaging, Youtube, etc... I had this problem since last year too. I got my Sensation since August of last year.

Don't do gpu over clock then.. That will cool down your device a bit.. Also.. Try some under volting the kernel (there is a uv mod.. You can use that) .. It prevents heating a bit too

I'm not overclocked though. I'm on the standard frequency, 1.2Ghz. I'm also on bricked kernal if that helps. What does decreasing the voltage do, or what voltage should I have?

You should try that for yourself because not every device can handle every voltage decreasing the voltage makes that there is not so much electricity going trough the CPU you save battery and your battery is not overheating so fast

Thanks. I installed UV mod, the CPU still gets warm, but not as hot as it used to be. I'm going to try the experimental if it works better.

Mine did too with both stock and ARHD roms. Thought its the battery getting getting warm for the longest time but it turned out to be CPU/GPU. I'm using Viper S now and do not overclock CPU/GPU. Works well and heat is down significantly. Still gets warm occasionally (GPS, Browser, Google Now) but not as much and battery last longer.
I tried Vipers S Rom but everything ran VERY choppy and what govner do you recommend to get that cold GPU/CPu effect?

When you try different ROMs and have query ask in the right ROM forum. You'll have a better chance for a right answer.
There isn't a tremendous amount of things you can do to bring down the temperature significantly. As everyone said, under volting, and under clocking can do a little bit.
It isn't a big problem, because it shouldn't pass, from what I remember, 43-46 degrees Celsius. Of course it will vary with what your doing, playing games will make it hotter, especially if you are in a hot environment.
Don't worry too much about it.

Well, what I'm saying is that when I use facebook, it gets really hot.

Device gets very hot

Hey guys, I have sensation XE and the device often gets very hot. Right now I'm using ViperS rom and bricked kernel, but that's happened with many different roms and kernels.
It's usually happens when I'm playing 3D games and it's very annoying to play games like subway surfers or temple run because after playing a while the device gets hot and the game become laggy.
Anyway to solve it?
My settings are: bricked kernel, ondemand governor, min freq 190 max freq 1500. No UV or anything.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
Not sure if there is a solution for this. I also experience this when playing games. Although lately it hasn't been as hot on the Rom I'm running now.. wish I knew of a solution but I don't. I think this happens with all sensations.

I wouldn't mind if it wasn't causing lags while playing games.

It could be a hardware issue or a ROM issue or a kernel issue.
It's always going to get warm when playing a gam ethat's heavy on the system resources like that. But it shouldn't get 'hot'.
Are you over clocking the CPU? If so, that'll do it. Try scalign the CPU down a bit to like 1.2 and see if that gives an improvement. It might also cause decreased gaming performance, but it would help diagnose the cause of the heat buildup.
You can calso try alternate kernels (I'm not amiliar enough with Viper to suggest one) to see if they process the GPU more efficiently.
I don't think that's a ROM or kernel issue, because it happened with several different roms and kernels.
I tried to underclock to 1400mhz but it didn't made a real difference.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
1400 isn't such a big difference, I keep mine at 1Ghz and it's still smooth, and moderately warm. You could also see it as a good thing, at least the heat doesn't stay trapped inside the device, which would be deadly for it.
The solution is Undervolting or Underclocking or both.
The device became laggy because of thermald, which limits the max freq to a lower value if the cpu temp is more than a value.
I try all kernel the only way to keep cool our phone is to use nitrogen. The best for now is Sebastian FM KERNEL

[Q] Latency Issues

Does anyone have screen latency issues, and if so, how did you correct them?
I'm on Viper XL 3.2.6, Elemental X 5.2 and have basically reduced all OC/UV settings back to stock. When I go to wake my screen, the lock ring may be off to the side and it takes a second or two to relocate to the bottom of the screen. Then, it may unlock OK but when I go to do anything, there are delays. For example, I'll launch my Touchdown client and the PIN pad doesn't show up for a few seconds. Or I launch Apollo music and it takes a few seconds to show my installed music. Or my BT headset takes a while to connect.
All of this seemed more instant on older versions of this ROM, so I'm just wondering if there were any issues. I thought it was my overclocked GPU settings (3D 512 MHz, 2D 320 MHz), and once I reset those to stock it seemed to get better, but not as good as I think it should be. BTW, I am still getting relatively high scores in Quadrant Standard (in the high 6000s), so I know the thing is running fast.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!
I do not know if this will fix your problem but I was having the same issue. I noticed that when I went into the venom/ kernel folder there were 2 kernel images. I deleted the stock image and kept the elemental. Then ran the installer again and everything is working fine.

try changing minfree settings in tweaks app to stock

Lol don't think that's gonna work. That is for the venom installer I believe. Your kernel will not be there, and you cannot be running two kernels at once. Have you tried full wipe and flash a jb ROM keeping its stock kernel?

If setting minfree back to stock doesn't take care of it, that was my plan. Thanks for the suggestion.

ViperX Rom and Battery life

Hi all,
I just updated to the latest ViperX OTA update and my battery life has gone down significantly. It says it is due to the wireless which I leave on and connect to at work and at home. Is anyone else finding this? Is there any new firmware for the wireless radio that I can try or anything else?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Try installing the Elemental Kernel. This is a Venom approved kernel with voltage control. You install it the same way you would a ROM. It will lower the voltage on your phone by default, using less juice from the battery, while still having awesome performance. Most people have no issues with the default 850mv. You can get it from the Venom Hub, or here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061577
Also, some people have reported downgrading their radios to previous versions, but I never really noticed a difference.
Wait a few days for it to stabilize. It's always bad after a fresh flash.
in my case it took two days, then it stabilized.
I have been on this new version for about 2 weeks now and it is still fairly bad. I will give it a few more days and monitor what uses the battery more closely. If I still feel it is the WiFi then I will flash the elemental kernel and see how I go.
Thanks.

And make sure to clean flash.
