I've always wondered, how were you able to change the icons for the stock arc launcher? Don't have my x10 with me now so I can't try and test it out for myself, but if you could share it'd be very much appreciated

Decompile apk change images and the hardest part that i dont kn0w is edit XML's and easyly compile apk...

For replacing just images you can open the apk with 7-zip or winrar (open like a folder, do not extract). You can change the extension to zip first or just right-click and choose 7-zip>Open Archive. Then navigate to res/drawable-hdpi & res/drawable-land-hdpi and drag in your replacement images. Click 'yes' on the dialog that pops up and then close the archive(apk) and rename back to apk if you changed to zip in the first step.
It's a good idea to have a copy of your image folders extracted somewhere so you can easily view the images and edit them.

Yes, of course- just the ones you want to replace.
And images ending in .9.png need decompiling/re-compiling to change properly.

I just found this theme thread with some good looking statusbar mods at the end of first post

but I have a problem with them, I can easily install then and select them in viper tweaks but when I select then I have a problem.. the WIFI icon is directly connected to the Mobil signal icon... How can I make a little distance beetween this two icons? See attachment thanks for any reply.

Just a guess based on your screenshot, but it's the size of the WiFi png images in the statusbar apk. Try editing them so they're not quite so big. That might solve the issue. Just an idea.

Can edit that apk for you. or if you want i can change that wifi png file to other one, please attached apk file here which you want me to edit then will send you edited apk back.

that would be cool ny friend, I dont have the apks but in the link in OP there are the three different versions red, blue and green
Maybe we can use them on elegancia too?

elegancia coloured looks alot different,ive changed alot,just made a desireX coloured aswell,got 1 or 2 things to finish then it should be available soon

I use cwm and odexed version of 9505 MDM firmware, I ran both files through apktool again and posted them again, both files works fine :fingers-crossed:

@bruzski: i try by myself with my deodex to chage in black color statusbar as you, i compile and everything is fine, but when i flash systemUI with this mod, when telefhone turn on, systemUI crash and have fc..
I decompiled and changed color in "res/values/drawables.xml" as i every time do with my S2 (and threre work always fine), but here i have this issue.. I miss to do something? Change something to do in S4 apks? (i now to use apktool, manage with that, delete resources in keep folder ecc)

I can confirm that it does not work on odexed ME2.
@bruzski-Is is going to be possible for you, of you have the SystemUI.apk from ME2, to decompile it and make the status bar black? I by myself, but everywhere I see java errors and it simply does not want to decompile it properly.

hey it's transparent yes, but if you select a downloaded wallpaper you normally get a dark gray statusbar and not real black, that's why i made this little mod

ahh.... that makes sense.... very nice indeed.. i did not try it on black background... i just saw it was transparent and then i went on to another one... i prefer it being black all the time..
but great job... it looks better than stock by many miles
will you make other work perhaps ? a mod of the message app with decent smileys ?

Hello Everyone!!
Lots of people asked me how to make transparent status and transparent navigation bar on android 4.4 kitkat as it supports transparent status and navigation bar. So i thought of writing this guide so that every one get's benefit of this.
Here u go:
To make use of transparent status and navigation feature of Android 4.4 in your activity(it may be launcher or any activity):
Add these below lines in style.xml of your activity/launcher's main activity theme.
HTML:
<item name="android:windowTranslucentStatus">true</item>
<item name="android:windowTranslucentNavigation">true</item>
Where attribute android:windowTranslucentStatus set the transparency of status bar and android:windowTranslucentNavigation used for transparency of navigation bar
Or you can also use one of these themes as your parent
HTML:
Theme.Holo.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor
Theme.Holo.Light.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor
By enabling translucent system bars, your layout will fill the area behind the system bars, so you must also enable fitsSystemWindows for the portion of your layout that should not be covered by the system bars.
HTML:
<item name="android:fitsSystemWindows">true</item>
You can use anyone of the above approach to make transparent System bars of your activity.

Bro as above mentioned themes were introduced in Kitkat so they doesn't work with older versions so in order to use those themes in your apk decopile your apk with kitkat framwork-res.apk(available in any CM11 Rom) and then compile it.It will work.try it let me know if that works:laugh:

Read this post u will find out how to sign apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251719 .download jarsigner for that.Then install or move that signed apk to system>app.

bro i m not able to install ur apk as some libs are missing also i m using sony phone.i have checked ur manifest.xml and found that there is no theme defined in your main activity "com.android.launcher2.Launcher" define a theme and add transparent status bar styles corresponding to that theme in style.xml. hope that works

I removed it, it went back to normal.
What exactly do I do to make it transparent??? change /white to transparent or do i need to change it from <item to <color ? and make it #00000000?

hey give define that color in colors.xml like <color name="any_name">#00000000</color>
then in style.xml use it like this <item name="android:windowBackground">@color/any_name</item>

Okay, it compiled. I made two with one being color/white and the new one color/trans
The white one looked whites with shades. and the transparent one was just black :s, the status bar didn't blend into the blue action bar? it just went black. Any idea what happened?
EDIT : Fixed i moved the fitWindow function to the theme window. all is working! Thanks for this guide. And very helpful OP user!
So I defined a new colour in color.xml
<color name="nexus">#ff4d9ad8</color>
I went into styles, and changed
<item name="android:windowBackground">@*android:color/transparent</item> to
<item name="android:windowBackground">@*android:color/nexus</item>
Now when compiling, it gives off an error, doesn't compile?

i just follow this tut TUTORIAL - Theming.
he want to made his bg from black to white, so i just revert his method. if you want to try, just find word " .LIGHT " and delete them. not necessary to change the html text code.
