Go to this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1161 READ,READ,and READ some more. Download some that look interesting to you, then try them out.

Personally for most stable, I'd say scott's Beanstalk is most consistent. However, its more about how you tweak the rom (regardless of the rom. most roms these days are fairly stable). Since your game is crashing, I would think you are either overclocking your phone too much or you're undervolted.

The same way you flashed CM, download, put on the root of your sd card, and flash them. I believe these are the latest: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It works on all ROMs except the CM9 alpha that was released. Until you're less new you might want to hold off on that until there is a stable release.
Thanks the cyanogen nightly that I installed is slower then the stock one .just wondering what roms are best

Google Euroskank and go to the first one that pops up, hit the P999 tab and grab the latest and grab any of the custom kernels that strike your fancy or do what I started to do and try one for a week or two and see how I like it.
I thought those were only for the O2x not g2x

Nope, just make sure you choose P999 from their page. The official CM got was down and I liked their nightlies and had no problems I didn't have on the stable release.

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Kernel?
It depends: If you want battery life get Trinity ELP (I that's the one, the one which only allows to OC to 1.1GHz) if you want pure power go for Faux, if you want a balance (don't know if it has Voodoo sound though) go for Dragon for CM7 (not OTA).
So I take it that you can use different kernals with different roms and you flash them the same as the roms?

Most, if not all of the newer custom roms are debloted, meaning the bloat has been removed in OTA based roms. If its AOSP or CM based, it's built without bloat.

CM9 issues. Reverted to CM7!

I just recently installed CM9 with faux's kernel and it was overly buggy! It froze, apps constantly crashed, the screen would turn black if I turned the phone horizontal. For you slow folk, that's sideways.
Within 10 minutes of using CM9, I decided I was reverting to CM7! So, I booted into CWM and wiped everything; Dalvik, battery stats, cache, and did a full wipe. I reinstalled everything pertaining to CM7 and "tried" to restore. This is where I encountered a strange issue! When the restore got to the point of retiring data, it started to display 1 byte hex for awhile. The process took 3 times the norm. It then produced an error while trying to restore .Android.secure. I eventually fixed but has to delete all my backups since they all became "corrupted", if that's what you wanna call it. Thoughts?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Your poor experience on CM9 was probably because of a bad flash or bad wipe. Did you use the nullifier? I suggest you try the Hellfire Sandiwch, while it isn't perfect, it comes close to it.
The correct terminology is landscape by the way.
Try eb aosp. Its a great rom.

Tuna kernel isn't for our phone. I'm surprised your phone boots.

I don't think you should be flashing.
Can't tell if it's a troll or not.
ICS is not ready yet and most likely will not be until we get some sort of leak on ICS drivers. So if your phone is daily driver and you need it for work, CM7.2 is the only way to go, it also has much more features, more stable, and faster.
No, not trolling. I actually "assumed" that derkernel was G2X specific. Sometimes I don't look into stuff as much as I should! I've been busy all day on top of it. I'm replacing my head gasket on my truck so I guess I didn't think much of it at the time. But I don't see it as a stupid move! I mean there are so many different kernels out there, I just assumed it was just another name for the G2x kernel....Tuna. its running smooth tho. With the exception of the video camera and not being able to view recorded video.
Thanks buru I'll check out the bionix kernel too.

There's a performance option in your phone setting where you'll be able to overclock the processor if wanted. As for battery life you can turn off surface dithering and turn on 16 bit transparency, use wifi as much as available, use an app such as system tuner to underclock your processor(be careful to not uv too much and don't save profile until your sure it's stable), also search for battery tips using google or the above search bar as there are plenty of threads set up for such things
It depends on the kernel. If you *safely* overclock to, say, 1.78 and you're using the badass governor, you should also consider moderately undervolting if you are looking for improved battery life. Download System Tuner and lower the voltage by 50-75 mv for each frequency level. Depending on your ROM and kernel, you may have to do this each time your phone reboots (if you save your custom voltage, you can just re-load your voltage table if needed). But again, you can only do this on certain kernel's.
Also, a couple of things:
First, avoid using profiles with custom governors. Second, Rom Toolbox will only get you so far. It's a good tool to have, but System Tuner and SetCPU are your best bet for managing your oc/uv/governors/etc.
I'm on the instigatorx kernel would that make a difference?

Well, yes it does make a difference! That's a good kernel, but there are A LOT of versions of his kernel. If you're running a version later than v5.4.5 you should be good. Also, play around with the governors and see which one works best for you. SmartassV2, Wheatley, Conservative, badass, (sometimes) lulzactive, and some of the others can work better depending on how you use your device and your specific settings. It will vary from device to device, but I've had a lot of success with badass.
Badass and smartass aren't options why is that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Another problem I'm having is using system tuner every time I try to change the CPU settings its says failed to change CPU settings
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
You may have a bad flash of the kernel, try to re flash.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
EDIT:
If you re-flash InstigatorX and it still doesn't give you governor options, here is the badass script.. Download here and flash.
The other governor scripts are available in the InstigatorX OP, and you can flash them individually.
But, you *shouldn't* need these if you're on v6.0.2 or later of the kernel.
Also, are you sure you're still rooted? I've seen several people that flash a custom ROM and kernels, and they still have CWM or TWRP recovery, but they lost root in the ROM. Some ROMs are pre-rooted, some aren't.. and you can probably just flash the SuperUser zip (or SuperSU zip) to correct this if you lost root.

Beans ROM causing major issues!!!!!

I never had a problem with anything until I flashed beans build 6. I did a clean install but ever since my phone has been freezing nonstop. I have to battery pull every time and it is getting frustrating. I went back to build 5 on a clean install and the same thing occurs. I even tried downloading my apps one by one from the play store instead of restoring from titanium and I still get this issue. Someone please give me some enlightenment I'm desperate!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
1) What does a full wipe consist of in your case?
2) Freezing as in you can't do anything at all or freezing as in laggy? How long did you have Beans Build 5 and/or 6 installed?
3) did you have the AOSP Lockscreen installed via Aroma (when you first flash the rom)? if so, did you deselect ALL the TW options under Settings/Lockscreen?
4) Do you check the md5 before flashing build 5 or build 6? If not, what do they say when you check now?
AOSP lock screen was the culprit that required me to pull my battery. I have no problems with the tw lock screen on B6. Battery life, GPS, performance is great on B6.

When you enable AOSP lock screen you must disable all other functions in the same settings menu. Everything must be off. I'm running it flawlessly after doing so.

Full wipe for me would be factory reset/system/cache/dalvic
It would freeze and I wouldn't be able to do anything so I had to battery pull
I had some settings turned on for touch wiz lock screen and I've turned them off since and I think that may have been the culprit. They were there as default however.
Also how would I go about checking md5

Hahahahahahah.
Forget kitkat, stick with CM9. I can discuss this issue all day long and CM9 will still prevail as daily driver.
Cm7 may be faster but lacks android compatibility as apps these days require 4.0+ which is the reason why is he/she upgrading firmware.
I've tried Djnoxd's candledice and sweetnsour's 13 CFS. Use Djnoxd's, it's better in stability and smoother. The only badside is that zRam isn't included.
