You can't, and I don't think the SD would be functional afterwards.

It definitely would be. I'm amazed there's not an app for it!

Android doesn't support fat32 that is a windows proprietary format
Wayne Tech S-III
There's forums all over the internet saying that's what to do though, specifically for a Z.

Well they are way wrong. After looking at your history maybe you should stop all together and spend a week researching what android is and how it works.

You could try a sd-ext2(I think that's it) partition, I believe it makes phone think that its still on the /data but in reality its on SD card.

You can't do that as I know but some widgets working from SD card... like Walkman & Weather ... this is only widgets , not apps... why do you want to do that? Low Of Storage? what is your default app installation directory? if phone, you can switch to sd...and move almos all apps to sd...

It is replacement firmware that your phone is running. It usually offers cool features not found in the manufactures firmware.
Something like an Operating System for androids.
"Read-Only Memory" if Im not mistaken, its memory that cannot be changed but only processed or read by your device.

That's more in reference to a PC not a phone.
The ROM bit is more for PC yes.
Roms are basically operating systems for our androids. Its actually not ROM, but EPROM - Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory.
Sent from my GT-S5300 using xda app-developers app
Rom = read only memory
In other words if you flash a Rom onto your phone, your practically loading another OS onto it. EI: android 2.2, 2.3, 3.0, 4.0, 4.1

Thankyou
looks great site
query
is there a difference between "ROM" and "platform"?
To be very honest with you, im not really sure but my understanding is that a platform would be symbian, android, windows mobile or iOS. Where the Rom is the operating system of these platforms, thats if their operating systems are called roms.
I hope you understand this.
It might not be correct, its only how i understand it.
Sent from my GT-S5300 using xda app-developers app
Yea you're right...mate
android symbian etc are platforms whereas ROM can be anything..that works as the Os for your phone
Roms may be customised to your wish
Whereas platforms can't be changed...if I'm not mistaken
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using xda premium
Sorry but I want to understand something more, but in practice when you compile a rom what is being done ??
I found a bunch of old ROMs that I had stored on a Time Capsule, which died because of a dead PSU. it's probably been almost, if not more than a year since it just occurred to me that I can plug the hard drive into another computer to get the contents off of it. I found a handful of myTouch 4G ROMs dating back to Froyo ROMs, so I thought someone here might be interested.
Considering some of these might still have working download links, I'm just going to list them and then upload whatever is requested. Be advised that I'll be deleting them all once everyone is happy.
I have:
GorillaSense-DHD-MT4G-v2.3
GorillaSense-MIUI
LiquidMetal
MIUI.us 1.8.19
MT4G_Desire_HD_Gingerbread_v0.2
MT4G_Droid_Inc_v1.0
RoyalHoney
RoyalLiquid (1.1)
RoyalMint (RC2, RC2.1)
RoyalMIUI (V1,V2)
CM 6.1.2 RC2
