Hello all,
I have an issue with Atrix running ICS 4.0.4 and DroidVNC.
In the past, I had Gingerbread with DroidVNC running (to allow me to log in and support our staff phones). This worked well. But when a phoen is upgraded to ICS the on-screen keyboard does not show whilst DroidVNC service is running. All is fine if DroidVNC is stopped. I cannot find any way to force the on-screen keyboard to stay on, nor does there appear to be a way of disabling the 'physical keyboard' that the phone thinks is there when DroidVNC is running.
Has anyone found a 'remote control' style software that allows the user full control over the phone, whilst running in the background and also allowing 'remote control' at anytime.
I do not really want our staff having to start DriodVNC each time they have problems (some barely know which side of the phone to hold to their ear).
Thank you
John

I'm using skymobile_s40_lr_sf_6230.jar to attempt to get Sky Anytime working on my UK Touch Pro GSM (t-mobile carrier). After entering my username & password it displays a connecting screen and gets no further. Have rebuilt phone to no avail. This seems to be a common problem on winmo 6.
Ealier versions of sky app do not work on Raph due to lack of hardware buttons.
Anyone managed to get this working on the Raph?

i use a sling box and sing mobile to access my sky box & i can watch sky on any internet enabled P.C
i never got sky's app to work though i didt think there was a WM compatible version.
I use this - which is freeware - and only hardware required is a TV Tunner for yer computer.
www.orb.com
Thanks, but check
I'm not trying to stream SKY but be able to use the remote record facility. Doesn't work with java app or by using browser to go to tvlistings web page on Raph

is what I'm trying. what to do this on touch pro. Know I can do it on web, I do not want to stream.
Default web site works fine on laptop, however I do not carry laptop everywhere. Raph & I joined at the hip.
After a solution to enable remote record on phone, not streaming.
you can use orb to setup and schedule recording of TV shows.

Yep!
I've got a copy of SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar.zip and get round the lack of hardware buttons by using AEB Plus (google it!) to map 2 of the qwerty k/b keys to act as soft keys.
Once thats done you can login quite happily, and if you get an error saying you dont have authorisation to use the service, re-activate the remote record from the sky box.
I use car panel for navigation occasionally. Lately it just spins waiting for location. It's searching right now and doesn't look like it will work again. Tried it earlier today never did connect.
I don't take phone updates. Have 2.2 rooted stock roms and kernel but it's been fine till lately. Little slow connectiong but not like now.
Any ideas?
Try updating Profile and PRL, then reboot. Also, you might want to try turning on WiFi. It helps GPS lock quicker.
I had the exact same problem with 2.3.3 OTA, and so does the only other person I know with a Shift. It seems to be a consistent problem.
I can give you two solutions.
a. Use Telenav instead of Google Nav. I've never experienced any problems with Telenav, and it comes pre-installed on every Sprint smart phone and feature phone so I was already familiar with it. (Non-android phones it's called "Sprint Navigation Powered by Telenav")
b. Root, install Clockwork Mod, then install another ROM. Google Nav is actually a great program, and I like it better than Telenav, but it just doesn't work well on the factory ROM for whatever reason. I installed CM7-nightly build 179 last night, and Google Nav now works like a dream. (You have to do some digging and install all the google apps seperately) As an added bonus, when you install the full suit of google apps available, you get a much better car panel than the SenseUI car panel. You can set it to come on automatically when your phone connects to the BT in your car, and you can customize the launchers instead of being stuck with the layout HTC gives you.
Heya guys,
I have a project I wish to start with. I have a old HTC TyTn II and HTC Touch Pro II available, but thinking of using the HTC Touch Pro II as its the better phone.
I wish to make use of all the phone's functionality (GPS, BT, SMS, etc) to gather information to do certain tasks with them. I first wanted to pass everything down to a PC, but from what I heard about Android, I can prob use the phone as the computer and do everything from there.
I wish to install the phone into my car and program it as a security system. (Experimental)
Some of the things I am looking for the system to do are:
When the Car Phone detects my Real Phone, it should auto disarm, sending a command via Bluetooth to a relay to Disable Fuel Cutoff.
If the car moves (GPS) and wasn't disarmed, the phone should send out a text, notifying me of potential theft.
A web server could also be great with a corn job that will update a simple txt file with GPS co-ords, as to follow the car. Maybe use it as a remote interface later.
The script should respond to text messages or some network interface (Internet would be cool) so I can control it from a distance...
I believe this gives you an indication of the direction I wish to move in. I haven't played with Android source yet, but I know its Linux. What is the possibility of removing "Android" and keeping the drivers so that I can write my own custom script to just run in the background.
If there are better ways, please let me know. I'm still looking for possible options.
There is a Android version out for the HTC Touch Pro II that seems to work great! If recommended, I would prob try to start from it.
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I have some problems while using my bluetooth headset.
What I'm trying to accomplish here is to push the headset's button, start google now and launch a command (mostly calling a contact).
On stock rom, if I try that, I got a black screen with the word "Initialization" and it gets stuck on it.
(in google now settings the option about bluetooth headsets is on).
I tried with a couple of apps like "bluetooth launch" and "voice command", and almost all the time google now is launched but it ask for "press the microphone and start talking" (I'm translating from Italian...), so I always have to interact physically with the phone.
For what I've seen, maybe the only way to fix this is using tasker with autovoice (as seen in some xda video tutorials), but I still have to try.
Does anyone has this problem?
Thank you!
It is old an Android OS issue on non-english language configured device. Even Android 6.0 is affected. It has been assigned but still no fix

(For explanation as to why I want the following, see below section)
I have an Alcatel Go Flip V under Verizon that I would like to get keyboard support on for bluetooth keyboards. It runs an AOSP fork and has no keyboard support. Bluetooth keyboards gave some connection error, vague enough to make me question if the decade-plus old keyboard's ancient standard caused issues, but even a wired keyboard refused to function. Some poking made me believe the device needs custom firmware to get even bluetooth keyboards to function, due to no support. I'm very much a noob, but here's what I know:
APKs cannot be run, though are recognized as such. NOT an 'unusable file' error
ABD shell and push/pull are firmware disabled
Some debug menus exist, but don't allow full ADB access or the like
Alcatel tends to lock down their phones pretty good
Is there any way to get keyboard support with or without hacking the device? I'll do testing on a spare that has some issues that warranted replacement, but still works fine for these purposes.
[Explanation]
I got the flip phone for the reason of getting a phone without artificial limits in place that is barely capable of browsing the web and cannot install games (for I get distracted easily) but can provide a hotspot for those times when my laptop is appropriate to use. I don't like artificial limits, as I am greatly tempted to remove them, so a smartphone is not a preferred solution (If it is the best solution I can just swap my SIM to my mom's old DROID MAXX 2). The flip phone is great most of the time, but the occasional time when I need to make longer messages made me wonder if I could find a 4g slide phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. The only ones I could find were Blackberries which still have that temptation issue mentioned above, and some HTC MyTouch device that's old and carrier-locked. This sent me down a rabbit hole trying to find if my current phone could support external keyboards, bluetooth or otherwise, which it did not, but made me wonder if I could get a modified OS that supported keyboards. I am willing to do anything short of hardware modification to the spare phone, as some hardware fault caused the screen to invert the colors and be mirrored on the vertical axis, making it nigh-unusable as a normal phone but perfect for testing.
