First basic Cornerstone build based on cm10.1 nightlies. I have always wanted to have multiple windows on screen. Floating windows annoyed me because I always had to move them around.
Based on latest cm nightly, therefore you need to be on the latest bootloader!
Issues (a lot of things not tested):
- layouts in cornerstone panel are not perfect
- bottom window doesnt have a working layout
- lockscreen ?!?
What works so far:
- audio
- wifi
- wallpaper (you need to set it via settings -> display - > background, lockscreen wallpaper via settings -> lockscreen -> background)
Install instructions:
1. reboot into TWRP
2. do a complete system backup
2. if you werent running a cm10.1 build, do a complete wipe: system, data, cache, etc.
3. install bryce09 conerstone rom
4. if you were running a cm10.1 build you dont need to flash Gapps: 20130301
5. reboot

I will be trying this out later and let you know how it goes. Is there any chance you'd be able to make a CROMI-X compatible build in the future? I really very much appreciate this and hope you continue to work on it. The lack of ability to open multiple apps and run them side by side has been the single biggest thing I hate about android.
So what this does run apps side by side? you should post pics =D

You could check out videos on youtube: cornerstone android
Or post a screenshot yourself
Sorry I dont use CROMI myself and probably wont in the future. I like cyanogenmod too much. I also dont have enough harddisk space left to build another android version
I'm still locked awaiting the end of my warranty. I wasn't tempted to forego the last few months of warranty until today. Evil OP! Evil! :silly:
Really exciting though. I discovered cornerstone months ago, skipped for joy, then upon further inspection, it appeared to be abandoned. Thrilled to see some activity, and infinity development to boot. Good Luck, I'll be following what happens very closely. :good:
Love that this is getting worked on, huge props. Would be great to see if you could work with sdbags and get it working with CROMI.
Will definately be trying this out as it progresses. Is it running on the 4.2.1 boot loader?

Lord must be really hearing me, few days ago I was thinking if it's possible to have a multi-windows mod on TF700 like on my SGS3, now here it is!
Tried this - still pretty primitive at present, but I like the direction. Good work! Maybe some instructions on how best to use in the OP - because my experience was nothing like as controlled or fluid as the Youtube video suggested.
WOW, first thing tomorrow, I`m gonna be flashing this...

Love it!! Used to run a Cornerstone ROM on my old ViewSonic gTablet, and was disappointed in the lack of movement on this on the new builds. I still subscribe to the Cornerstone forum over on google so when I saw traffic picking up I was hopeful it would be coming.

First off I want to say that I'm am not associated with Cyanogenmod in anyway. I merely created this thread because I did not see one like it here. To be clear, I did not write ANY of this code.

Rule of thumb: If you are having issues and haven't already, do a clean wipe. Please lets keep bug reports down to what is actually wrong and not issues caused by upgrading from stable, nightly, or and older source build to the newest source build.

cant wait to try this out!
just saying, i read in a thread on CM forums that you need clockworkmod recovery 3. tried to install 2 different ones (including the unofficial official one that all the mods/well-known peeps at CM forums are running/developing) and kept getting bombarded by force closing upon startup. completely unusable. flashing new recovery now....hope that'll solve everything. also, the new rom supposedly has keyboard light and camera fixes. plus the cool screen on/off animation (i think the on part is custom).
drop the g1 & on with a droid 1...
Well I see that the nightly has been posted for a while so ill test it out and post a review of the latest build. Cm usually never disappoints so this build should have some nice perks.
A couple of notes...
The CM nightlies that just restarted a couple days ago are still Froyo builds. There is speculation that they are testing things out and GB builds will come within the next week.
CrackFlashers Build #46 is running great. I still lose data after phone calls (and maybe texts too, need to test that). That is the biggest problem right now. I can deal with the small problems (wonky accelerometer, questionable GPU performance, camera FC's).
Any observations as to how this compares with JeffV2 's rom over at DF? Im trying to decide which one to try
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/android-roms/110459-rom-gingerbread-update-zip-w-gapps-154.html
this is a nightly, more like a pure build. but i slightly edit the source, probably nothing noticeable just by looking at it though.

I agree, the post over at DF.net says that the gingerbread rom has gingerapps included in the rom.zip and also it shows a temp fix for the keyboard backlight. Are there any comparisons
Ok I see there is no major diference. Its jus the small things that changed between the two rom builds
I'm running #48 now, and it seems great but there are def some issues. The most notable one for me is the crappy market. It's old and has the same app missing problems as early froyo builds. Big misses include twitter and tweetdeck. Can I just flash any other gapps zip (like the CM one)? Or is there a different fix? Thanks.

As of #48 the camera doesn't work, force close. Keyboard doesn't light up. And the screen has a glitch where it won't come back on, not sure what causes it however. Going to flash #52 released today and see if it's any better.

#52
Bugs:
camera force closes
keyboard back light doesn't work
Works:
WiFi
GPS
Bluetooth
LED notifications

Everything else is working. Wish it worked as nicely as #52 on my Inc, it's flawless with the exception of running video benchmarks. Seems the hardware acceleration for that is still missing.

Yes. A CM7 nightly is up on ROM Manager for Droid. Downloading now.
I have been running the official nightly since i found out yesterday night, CAMERA WORKS!! Release / Update News for 4.14.2012
For this update I've resynced for new commits from the AOKP repo. The new build doesn't seem to crash often like the first build. However AOKP doesn't seem to like live wallpapers. I've just noticed that if you select a live wallpaper it will freeze after a while then you try to change the wallpaper to anything else the background of the launcher will remain black. This can be fixed by restarting the phone. Or it could be something that needs more testing.
I've added in the official boot animation but it doesn't seem to fit the screen perfectly. There was a similar issue with the first MIUI build. I'm still testing to see how well GPS actually works.
So this update seems to be really fast. It doesn't seem to crash or slow down like the first build.
-See how different wallpapers behave.
-Check ROM Control options (I saw some issues with the Navigation Bar settings. I think its a Team Kang issue.)
-Stay clear of the Start-up Scripts options. It doesn't work for now.
Other than that the ROM should be much more stable and faster than the previous release. Try and give me as much feedback as possible.
Thanks
I only tried it out for a few minutes. There was no boot loop, and it seemed to run smoothly. Nice work.
Can someone put up screen shots and working and non working please?

Once I get to a desktop I'll upload some screenshots. Right now everything moves relatively smoothly but some bugs do exist. For example, spell check is not working right now and most words are considered mispelt. Also, the Play Store did not sync correctly and I had to download all apps manually rather than the automatic sync. Some usability bugs such as freezing screens do occur, but not enough to be a major nuisance. The special AOKP settings work fine. If you prefer the software buttons of the Galaxy Nexus they will work, although the action overflow button does not seem to show up in the bar and the physical menu button must be used. Backlighting on the keys works while the softkeys are enabled as well. I am yet to encounter any of the screen blowups Kemikal referred to in the OP. Benchmarks (for you benchmark nerds) will arrive with the screenshots.
Edit 1:Never mind about the later comments. Screenshots are attached.
Edit 2: Found the screen blowup in the battery portion of the settings. Music and mic are working.
Edit 3: Once the ROM seems to run for a couple hours without a boot or anything the system bogs down and system ui crashes occur at a relatively high frequency. Home screen redraws are more prevalent than Jocala's CM9 ROM.

I've noticed there is an issue with like a sleep of death where the screen stop working randomly except you can see what's on the screen during the CRT animation.
Gerrit style bug reporting. One person to report something another to review and confirm the issue. I didn't get much of a chance to test everything before I released it.
This is in Alpha stage so expect some bugs out of it. This is built from the same source as CM9 so in theory there should have been any other than a borked camera. Yet something must have messed up during the compile process and minor parts are broken. The touch drivers were half baked. I'm assuming from your reports that somethings also wrong with the dictionary files.
Some things haven't compiled properly and they cause issues.

Camera is bad from CM9 so its the same source so its broken here too. New thread so I haven't completed reviewing the bug list.
Also, The issue with your apps not auto-redownloading from the market is something I've seen on many different ROMs on many different devices. I have no idea what causes it. I believe its more of a universal issue for Google to address.
hmm this seems nice ill try it out
Thanks for working so hard for us in making this ROM. I think that if you can get everything working on this one, I might stray away from cm9. Big thank you to jocala as well.
Thus far, the main things that I have noticed issues with are as follows:
No notification for wifi networks,
Start up tweaks do not remain enabled,
Dictionary believes that no words except for a select few simple ones actually exist.
Automatic time zone thinks I am in the middle of the Pacific ocean instead of in Atlanta, GA.
There are some other assorted small things, but I'm more interested in helping you test out the major issues.
I have not yet tested the GPS. Work and sleep make spending the amount of time I want to on these things impossible. I hope that this info is helpful to you. And thanks again.

I had this same problem when flashing to a rom, and then going back to stock. I found this solution:
1) go to settings>applications>manage applications>all>google services framework>clear data also go to >all>market>clear cache and force close finally to all>market>clear cache and clear data then Reboot phone
2) Open and sign out of GTalk, then re-open and sign in.
3) Open Market and accept agreement. Let it load your apps. Close Market.
4) Go to market.android.com and sign in. Go to My Market Account>Settings tab>Edit>Nickname your phone and click Update.
5) try Installing application from market.android.com

very good, great options in rom control.
i did have a glitch, and since you asked.....
whilst connected to wifi, and using opera mobile, and, big buttons keyboard,
i attempted to type in the embedded google search box.
this proceeded to cause opera to freeze.
whether opera,or,big buttons was the cause i can't say,but the rom did not seem to like this combo.
LOL I never thought my moms phone would be getting ICS I'll flash it on her phone in a bit!
I just flashed to this rom to try it out, runs great and has very cool controls. But I still prefer CM9 AOKP feels like a overly customizable launcher but still nice!

Thats something I'm looking into, I've been told by one that the bug was in the android framework, another that it had to do with the kernel.
If its in the android framework, then the possibility exists that it does.
If its in the kernel then no.

Everyone cant build from source yet. Have to pull the proper things into place then I'll push them to my github.
There are only a few things needed.
Removing a line from the framework to allow the rotation and soft keyboard(hopfully for all sliders)
and the device and vendor files(mine are extremely stripped down for mainly the doubleshot, i need to find a way to get all included)
can't wait to try this out, thanks for making this!
in regards to users' feedback on removing stuff, in my personal opinion, i think nova launcher should be taken out. it's a great launcher, no doubt, but we can install that from the play store as needed. regarding apollo, i would say remove it, again personally because i like google play music but since apollo isn't exactly an app we can get from the play store, i think it'd be best for everyone if you kept it in.
quick question, now that we have two more governors, what's the best one?
thanks again for the rom!

The additional governors are all hot plugging governors, they turn off a core when not in use.
I am still a fan of lulzactiveq. sakuractive is similar to hotplug except it differs on how it changes frequencies.
InteractiveX V2 is the same as InteractiveX but with hotplugging support.
It comes down to whatever you're a fan of.

This is why i asked for bugs to be reported.
While this isnt a bug, the common overlay doesnt have certain toggles. Since I dont use that toggle, I overlooked it.
I just made the doubleshot's own overlay which should have the right toggles.
Will release updated version later.

ahh ok. also, on the lockscreen (this may just be an aokp thing, idk) but if you have all the extra features enabled (like calendar, weather, owner info), then when you go to unlock with the pattern unlock, it everything gets pushed down, so you can't see the emergency call and tmobile buttons. not a huge deal at all, just letting you know. could be something to do with screen size...not sure at all really. and i don't think statusbar weather is working either...
edit: restarting fixed the statusbar weather. and the lockscreen unlock spacing issue only happens if weather is in panel mode (not text mode). in CM, it was set so when you go to unlock it, all the extra panels would disappear.
one last thing i noticed: in performance options, the "current governor" always says ondemand. even after a restart and with set on boot enabled.
The built-in SuperSu doesn't play nice with root. I'll try adding the regular such binary later.

Seems like theres some problems with Set on Boot. I'll look into it but it will be a while before I rerelease as I am now redownloading the AOKP source to see if I can compile without having to remove half the buildable roms. Also to cover any problems caused because the source I used was chopped together from team Acid's acidify.

I updated the download a while back to one that replaced SuperSU back to Superuser. You can switch after or flash the CWM SuperSU in the main post.
yeah something definitely wrong with cpu options in rom control, even without set on boot, changing the governor just never sticks...
SilverL said:
The additional governors are all hot plugging governors, they turn off a core when not in use.
I am still a fan of lulzactiveq. sakuractive is similar to hotplug except it differs on how it changes frequencies.
InteractiveX V2 is the same as InteractiveX but with hotplugging support.
It comes down to whatever you're a fan of.

in regards to users' feedback on removing stuff, in my personal opinion, i think nova launcher should be taken out. it's a great launcher, no doubt, but we can install that from the play store as needed. regarding apollo, i would say remove it, again personally because i like google play music but since apollo isn't exactly an app we can get from the play store, i think it'd be best for everyone if you kept it

I agree with this suggestion. I would remove Nova because it can be found in the market and keep Apollo because it can't be found in the play store.
I personally use Nova Prime and Poweramp so this goes against my own convenience, but it's easy enough to install Nova from the market, and use Titanium to remove Apollo. I'd rather have Apollo there as an option should I ever change my mind though.
I'll give the ROM a shot once the next update gets released. I have AOKP M6 on my tablet and it's been running pretty well so looking forward to trying it on my phone
autorotate when sliding the keyboard out doesn't seem to work for me in the messaging app. works fine in others...if i close the messaging app once its slid out, then reopen, then it comes up in landscape mode. anyone else seeing this?
Hey,
I've still got my forum training wheels on, and so I'll just put this Q here (rather than the directly related thread).
I've seen a few people ask this, but haven't yet found a conclusive answer.
I use my TF with this ROM and think it's great, not had any issues to speak of. However, I did love the HC/ICS (4.1) screen layout, where the notifications were in the bottom right along with the clock etc. There was no status bar at the top and Nav buttons were in the lower left. My question is... Is it possible to get this back, whilst still using the 4.2 ROM?
Hopefully somebody knows the answer....
I understand that this would require 4.1 launcher to be ported to 4.2, but I could be wrong.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
I have that tablet running that ROM, but I've gotten used to 4.2 and haven't looked for a way to change it.
You should ask this in the TF101 forums.
I'm not sure how much a launcher could really do, but I'd Google "get back tablet layout in 4.2" or something to start checking it out on my own.
I'm not sure this is that easy. I use Apex launcher on that tablet and ROM and the layout doesn't change. I'm thinking that's a deeper layer than a launcher works with. I think you'd need a ROM with that baked in.

Hi Pennycake,
Thanks for the reply!
I've done lots of forum and Google hunting, but had little success...!
I've no grumbles using the phablet style layout. I just think that it was neater having everything on the navbar (tablet style).
I'll keep on looking and maybe stumble over something.
Cheers
Impossible...!?
So this is looking like it's not really possible without work being done to the SystemUI.
Withing the Eos Control Centre (This comes as part of the TeamEOS 4 ROM for TF101), there is a tablet option, but this leaves the status bar at the top.
I'll keep digging, but i won't hold my breath!!
Case closed...
Sweeeetttt...!!!
News just in...
timduru said:
Well yeah, we still have the code for tabletUI in EOS4 too.
Just that it has not been updated at all and is completely out of sync with all the EOS specific modifications, so most likely will crash.
But I might have a look at either bringing TabletUI back or implementing a new navbar from scratch to go with the phabletui.
That way we get rid of the navbar lag.
I'm also hopping that having to dig through the code even more with cornerstone, I could spot something.
But I've been thinking more and more about rewriting part of the window manager.
The original google code is Sh*t, and the more I look at it the more I come to the conclusion that PhabletUI is not made to work correctly on big screen / tablets.
On top of that code there's the EOS customizations which just make things more complex.
With cornerstone it's adding another spaghetti layer on top of the google spaghetti pile.
So yeah *headache*.
But yep I would say that the way PA has done it and rewriting part of the window manager & policy is the good approach.
Maybe I'll just resume work on Phubuntu instead too, and make a real multiboot that doesn't require flashing all the time.
We might benefit more from that, and it will have multiwindow support
Ahh so many things and so little time ;P

Problems with nightly ROM 111
I have a TF101 and finally decided to root and install the JB ROM. I started with EOS JDQ39 Nightly 108 and gapps_4.2.2_TF101_20130323b. This worked fine but when I updated to the nightly 111 I noticed that I Google play was not working. I would click on the app and it would start to load but disappear. It appears that I am not logged in anymore because gmail does not work either. I have tried to delete data from the gmail app and google play store from settings but the did not work. I have tried installing gapps again. Does not work. I tried another gapps, gapps-jb-20130301-signed and that just freezes my tablet on the EeePad screen.
Any ideas on how to get signed in on the tablet without a factory reset?
I will be compiling AOSP's master branch (almost) nightly. This branch is, at times, very unstable and can have many issues. Most issues cannot be fixed without upstream changes.
I guarantee no stability or the fact that your device will work. It's your choice to use this. Don't blame me for something that goes wrong (even though nothing probably will).
You will need to flash Gapps in order to use the Play Store. You can get Gapps from http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
Flashing for the first time:
1. Reboot into recovery.
1a. Backup current ROM
2. Wipe data.
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash Gaps
5. Reboot
6. Enjoy

Nice to see another pure aosp out there! Too bad about tweaks though, some tweaks I just can't live without anymore. That aside I'd rather have barebones over bloat
Thanks for this great rom!

I may make another ROM at a later time that is a tweaked master branch, but for now, this is staying pure AOSP. I haven't seen any frequently maintained master branch builds, and I think that the n7 community needs that. It's nice to have an up-to-date build of what Google is working on.
And remember, if there's a super awesome feature you think it oughta have, maybe AOSP will merge your contribution!

Features I was thinking of were mostly addons & some performance some ui tweaks which I don't think an aosp purist would likely agree on:
Cpu/ I/O memory management
Battery bar (miui, not a big break away from stock but not important)
Quick Settings toggles: extra buttons
Nav bar button editing
Kill app on long press of back button
Recent apps clear all & memory display
Battery statusbar options (I've always used %)
Statusbar clock settings (right/centre)
Some of those are purely subjective but things like kill app on long press, QS and navigation button settings should be built into the aosp source IMO. I get your philosophy behind this and I don't mind the missing features but I don't think I can keep pure aosp for very long after being spoiled with so many feature rich roms over the last few years
There are many people who would appreciate this though so I hope it gets the respect it deserves. Thank you!

Essentially, yes. As I am sure you probably understand, each git repo can have multiple branches and Google creates a branch after each stable release. However, they also have a working branch that they push to frequently (many times per day) with changes called "master" and this is a nightly build of that branch. So, this is like the stock ROM, except it is on their working branch, not their 4.2.2 branch. In the build files, this is referred to as "OpenMaster", and Android version 4.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.
You'll notice some features that aren't in the stock ROM and you'll notice some (but not all) of the features reported to be in the 4.3 ROMs.
This branch tends to be slightly less stable, but it also is very interesting to use. I use it as my daily driver and have for awhile. There are some bugs, but they tend to get squashed within a few days.
If you want to see a changelog, check AOSP review.
I have two more questions:
- How can I get notifications about updates?
- How can I build the Master branch for my Galaxy Nexus?
Oh and btw. good rom! It is really interesting to test those new features and have some bugs.

Sorry, but at this time, you'll need to check the downloads page daily (probably around 10PM GMT-5 I'll have done it if I will) to see if I've posted a new build for the day. Maybe I will later make an app and put it in the Play Store and it will notify you when a new build is posted.

You'll need to sync AOSP and it includes the source for GNex. You'll need to download the proprietary files separately and unzip them. If you have questions, PM me. Also, http://source.android.com/source/building.html may be of some help.

Thanks! I literally just synced the source and built it, but thank you.
Getting a late start on today's build. It should be up in about 1 hour.
Edit: It's up.

I have respect for the stock aosp. If I could pick only one feature though it would be one in forgot to mention "statusbar brightness slider" I use it so much I forget it's there.
I can live without those though, I'm glad to see openmaster working on the n7 and I'm going to try to live e without the frills! Thank k's for this pure rom,

Check out this handy tool. I'm usually anti widget but this lil tool is amazing for setting a brightness slider anywhere on the screen.
I've used it since way back before the status bar mod was available and I still use it pretty often if the ROM doesn't have it included.
Can be configured I'm about every way possible.

OpenMaster with 4.3 (officially versioned as 4.3.2.1.000.000) is available for download. Grap the latest nightly here.
SuperUser is almost definitely not working; additionally I cannot confirm how well the gapps package works with 4.3.
This release is 4.3 plus what you see merged on AOSP Code Review.
This build was made with the 4.2.2 proprietary binaries. A build with the 4.3 proprietary binaries will be released later today.
Edit: The build available (AOSP-OpenMaster-kalaker-grouper-20130724-fixed_binaries.zip).
IMPORTANT: As of 20130724, the OpenMaster builds are based on Android 4.3. With Google's official release of Android 4.3 for the Nexus 7 (grouper), a new bootloader, version 4.23, was released. OpenMaster builds after 20130724 have only been tested with the new bootloader. No support will be provided for users of the older bootloaders.
