HTC One X Straight talk network - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hey crew so I am using this beast of a phone on ST with T-Mobile. I actually called At&T myself to get the unlock code and they actually gave it to me!( Ive never been with At&t)
So now that I got this bad boy rolling with T-mobile straight talk( because AT&T on ST throttles you nasty!) I have noticed that there are several network types.
Which one is the best one for T-Mobile since in my area they have upgraded their towers to 1900/2100. I cant use LTE on ST period, but i can use HSPA+ with T-mobile. What are you guys using for those of you using this phone with T-Mobile?

Well I don't have t mobile, but I am not in an LTE area. However, LTE devices are backward compatible. So you can use the highest settings for the carrier. I'm pretty sure t mobile is still on Hspa+. So using those settings would work. If not Google for the APN settings

Oh. In that case, that last option should work. T-Mobile is a GSM provider, but you want those HSPA+ speeds, so LTE should fallback to that. If you select GSM, you ,ay get GPRS or EDGE speeds.

[Q] Rogers HTC One X using Bell LTE

Hi - Has anyone been able to get their Rogers One X working on Bell's LTE network? I've got it running at 4G only at the moment and tried in a few LTE areas per the coverage map. LTE Sim, APN (pda.bell.ca) and provisioned on the account level. I've been told my data plan is not compatible and would have to change my plan (voice & data) as it's a corporate account.
Anyway - curious if other Bell users have had luck.
Thanks!
May not be much help but LTE works perfect on Telus
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Telus and Bell run the same towers so you should be fine, I'm on bell with the HOX but not in LTE zone to test, might do that tomorrow if I'm bored...ill let you know!

How did you get the Telus LTE to work? When ever I turn it on it will show that I'm connected to LTE but I don't get any data...... I have to turn LTE off and let it connect to HSPA to get the data to work.
Edit it seems to be working now I can connect to the LTE network but my LTE speed are only about 10mbps download???????? I know I can get around 16mbps on the HSPA+ network as I used to get these speeds on my HTC amaze. Anyone know why the LTE speeds are so slow?

That would be great - thanks!
I'm currently using pda.bell.ca and tried pda2.bell.ca for a bit with no LTE. Bell techs are saying it may be the plan I'm on (6GB smartphone) but I'm hearing other users have this same data plan and it works.. who knows, it could be the phone itself!
kind of OT but where did you get it unlocked from and for how much? link? thx
to unlock it go to cellunlocker.net , only tooke about 2 hours for me to get the code for 7.99 plus tax, i use them all the time
I'm using the HOX for the last 2month on Bell LTE no problems here LTE kicks in perfectly fine. Mind you there's some spots here in the City where there's not LTE service but even on the 4G network I can manage a could 8mpbs/sec ratio.
Cheers.
Checking back in to this thread - has anyone on a Rogers device updated their radios with a noticeable increase in signal strength and speed? I'm still running the stock radio at the moment.

Thunderbolt to New Cricket 4G LTE

There's is now 4G coverage in the Houston area.My thunderbolt is already fully flash 3G and stable. Want to enable 4G on this phone. Cricket says requires sim card to work. The only sim cards are with the new LG and Samsung S3 by cricket. I know this is possible by using a unlocked 4G cdma LTE phone with sim slot. Does anyone have a unlocked phone on 4G cricket successfully working!!!

This is in the wrong thread. Verizon 4g will only work with Verizon. Verizon owns the entire 700mhz band that 4g functions off. This makes it so no other network can use Verizon's 4g

I dont think this is true as verizon can still lease their spectrum to other carriers like Straight Talk to piggy back off their network. The biggest problem for him is going to get a non-approved 4g device on verizons network. Verizon does not want people taking flagship devices to other discount carriers. Networks like Cricket dont actually own any spectrum, they just lease it from the bigger carriers at a discount. But verizon only allows a select group of ESN's to connect to it, usually for crappier phones. Some people will go so far as to clone their ESN to get it to work, but that requires special tools developed for your phone and can be quite tricky.

Well its pretty obvious that Verizon isn't leasing any part of their lte spectrum since there isn't one single optional carrier that a Verizon 4g phone will work with.

Is it possible to unlock all GSM bands to but used with Cricket 4G LTE service?
A possible NV Edit is probably all that is required
If I installed any other Sim Card Tmobile for example you get sim card unknown error and no signal
This is being done on other Verizon 4G LTE phones where people doing NV SEEM edits and unlocking all GSM bands. Using with prepaid carriers like Simple Mobile

Can the bands the radio receives be changed by software? Isn't the radio physically limited to a range of frequencies?
Sent from my ThunderBolt using Tapatalk 2
I was pretty sure that the radio was locked in to stay at the 700mhz spectrum that Verizon owns. I wouldn't be the least but surprised if it were locked in using hardware as well.

If memory serves, Cricket's LTE is courtesy of Verizon, I read it I think on Engadget a while back... Either way, it goes along with Verizon's Rural Coverage Plan to work with regional carriers to bring LTE to places where people would never expect it.
T-Mo works with AT&T phones because both are 1800Mhz or whatever for EDGE, so I would think if Sprint LTE is 700Mhz....

I doubt Sprint is using 700 they are probably using spectrum they got from the nextel acquisition (not looking stupid now lol). And of Sprint was using 700 and the had an lte roaming agreement, which they don't, with Verizon..... sprint lte phones would be working in allot more places, which they aren't.

If the info from the above article is correct you can see Sprint lte is not compatible with Verizon or ATT. In my searching I also found that apple made 3 different variants of the iPhone 5 with different lte frequency combinations.

those other Verizon 4g Lte phones, like the moto Bionic, have radios and antenna that support those GSM frequencies, and the engineering software tools to perform those tasks have been leaked.
Afaik, but I haven't looked in a while, after making those seem edits it unlocks Gsm/Edge for Att, T-Mobile and global roaming. I think it also enables hspa for Att but not T-Mobile due to frequencies the bionic's radio supports or doesn't support. It does not enable Lte for any other carrier.
its my understanding that the radio chips and antennas in the TB only support Cdma/Evdo and VZW's upper 700mhz block LTE
It also doesnt help that ril for the thunderbolt is closed source because of the svdo capabilities in it.

You would need a SIM for the phone to work at all, right, since it is needed for 3G and 1X on Verizon?

The sim would be needed for 4g to work. Cricket will provide you with a sim but you will still only get 3g because they can't get Verizon's 4g signal.

[Q] Anyone use StraightTalk?

Just got this phone and switched my straight talk sim over. I can't get a 3g connection though, only EDGE. My APN is correct based on the straight talk website, checked it multiple times, any suggestions? It's an AT&T based ST sim, think I need a T-Mobile sim instead?

He's wrong. It'll run on their H+ network, but that's all. However ATT's H+ mind you is very congested in a lot of places (NYC especially), but it will run.

Edit: heres some at&t radio's that can be flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270071
I have a Blaze running on NET10 using the AT&T sim card. I can achieve H+ with it, and from time to time it shows me 3G then goes to H+ real quick.
I am able to get (depending on where I am here in Central Indiana) 1-2Mbps with H+ and in other areas I get 12Mbps with H+. Here at the house I show H+ with 3 bars right now and get 1.75Mbps down and 0.42Mbps with a ping of 148ms to a speed test site just 16 miles up the road.
I do have to say it is much better then Tmobile here, I was lucky to get 0.17kbps either way on Edge.
I can tell you that it will help you if you go into your settings and select mobile networks then mobile operators and set yourself to AT&T Network only, let me know if this helps any, it did for me. It has kept me from trying to hit Tmobile towers since I am on NET10 which uses both tmobile and att.

Evita on t-mo

what speeds would the hox get on t-mobile? I'm sure my phone isn't sim unlocked, but my at&t Motorola atrix HD gets at least HSPAP on any sim card and it isn't sim unlocked either.
I'm currently using a net10 sim and it gets LTE but they throttle speed after like 5gigs or so to something under 3g (it's a bit faster than edge so can't describe it) but tmo doesn't throttle speeds as far as I know, unless I'm wrong.
There's a thread dedicated to speed tests done with T-Mobile on this phone somewhere in the general section I believe.

Completely depends on your specific location. T-Mobile is adding the HSPA 1900 MHz band to their network in select markets. Your location is listed as Houston, which is on the list of those markets: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5736
So the AT&T One X (or any version of the EVITA with HSPA 1900 MHz support) should work on HSPA in your area. Although coverage may be spotty, and if you move out of the coverage area, you will drop down to EDGE speeds.
Outside the HSPA 1900 coverage areas, T-Mobile uses the AWS band for HSPA/3G, which the AT&T One X is not compatible. Some have theorized that the phone has "hidden" support for AWS (as some other phones release by AT&T at the time did, presumably in preparation for the failed AT&T/T-Mob merger). And that the support for AWS could be made to work once s-off was achieved. But this has never materialized.
Here is the thread discussing data speeds on T-Mob that timmaaa mentioned: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2079059

I don't know what is going on with your Atrix HD (and don't follow that phone at all), but as far as I know, the AT&T version of the One X/EVITA would need to be SIM unlocked in order to work on T-Mobile. The only instance I am aware of a SIM locked AT&T One X working on "another" carrier is on Straight Talk (using the AT&T SIM option), which is just using AT&T's network.
