[Q] WIlling to buy a friends´s Blaze for cheap. How can I get 3G using At&t? - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Hello, a friend of mine of selling a mint Blaze at a great price. Phone is unlocked and I have service with At&t. However, when I insert the sim only get Edge. Is there any way to flash At&t radios to the blaze? I did search before opening a new thread,,, but wasn´t able to get the info I need.
Any help would be very appreciated!
Thanks!

Are you sure? my wife uses the Tmobile s3 with Att and gets 3g. could be this phone runs different frequency's?

He's wrong. It'll run on their H+ network, but that's all. However ATT's H+ mind you is very congested in a lot of places (NYC especially), but it will run.

So, At&t adopted hspa for T-Mobile

Your right its really bad in NYC.

Why are you not using T-Mo? Bad in brooklyn?

Should be able to get hspa+ flash a at&t skyrocket radio fix your apn,
I know it works when using T-Mobile on at&t phones I just flashed T-Mobile radios fixed apn got hspa+ speeds, should work vice versa
Edit: heres some at&t radio's that can be flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270071

I have a Blaze running on NET10 using the AT&T sim card. I can achieve H+ with it, and from time to time it shows me 3G then goes to H+ real quick.
I am able to get (depending on where I am here in Central Indiana) 1-2Mbps with H+ and in other areas I get 12Mbps with H+. Here at the house I show H+ with 3 bars right now and get 1.75Mbps down and 0.42Mbps with a ping of 148ms to a speed test site just 16 miles up the road.
I do have to say it is much better then Tmobile here, I was lucky to get 0.17kbps either way on Edge.
I can tell you that it will help you if you go into your settings and select mobile networks then mobile operators and set yourself to AT&T Network only, let me know if this helps any, it did for me. It has kept me from trying to hit Tmobile towers since I am on NET10 which uses both tmobile and att.

[Q] Can GS 4G do TMo & ATT 3G?

Hi, am leaving Sprint. Looking to get a used phone (no contract), that will work on monthly plans like TMo prepaid, Straight Talk (ATT)) w/out a contract. I'm reading good things about both the older Vibrant (SGH-T959), and the newer 4g (SGH-T959V). It's clear from my research that people are successuflly unlocking and able to go back and forth between TMo and ATT SIMs on the older Vibrant. What isn't clear to me is can this be done on the newer SGH-T959V?
Again, I don't care much about 4g. 3g on AT&T is fine. But while on TMo, the 4G would be nice.
Thanks!

Thanks Brandon. I will then pick up a used, older SGH-T959 (Vibrant), unlock it, and then enjoy the 3g flexibility of both ATT & TMo. It's strange, the T959V is supposed to support the same ATT 3g band as the regular T959, but I can't find proof of this anywhere.

I have SGS4G and am using ATT. I have 3G with no issues...
posted original question here by accident
I am using unlocked 4g on Cincinnati Bell wireless and the 3g works fine.
However I have not been able to get 4g at all on my phone. When I put a Tmobile sim in it works fine one 4g.
I get a little over 2 mbps download on Cincinnati Bell 3g.
You can just unlock it, I'm using mine on att right now. Only thing is you have a backup sync for T-Mobile instead of att.

I tried my friend's AT&T sim card and it worked with 3G.

Does 4G work with an unlocked SGS 4G on AT&Ts network?
no.

3G on AT&T will only work one one of the two UMTS bands: 1900 MHz.
Note that the Vibrant 4G doesn't have the 850MHz band (the other band that AT&T uses for 3G data.)
I've seen a posting that there's a way to activate the 850MHz band, but I have not verified that this works. If anyone has got this working so you're working on both bands on AT&T with your Vibrant 4G, let me know.
As an addendum to my own post, looks like the consensus is that while the Vibrant has an option of selecting the 850MHz UMTS band, it actually doesn't enable anything:

[Q] Rogers HTC One X using Bell LTE

Hi - Has anyone been able to get their Rogers One X working on Bell's LTE network? I've got it running at 4G only at the moment and tried in a few LTE areas per the coverage map. LTE Sim, APN (pda.bell.ca) and provisioned on the account level. I've been told my data plan is not compatible and would have to change my plan (voice & data) as it's a corporate account.
Anyway - curious if other Bell users have had luck.
Thanks!
May not be much help but LTE works perfect on Telus

How did you get the Telus LTE to work? When ever I turn it on it will show that I'm connected to LTE but I don't get any data...... I have to turn LTE off and let it connect to HSPA to get the data to work.
Edit it seems to be working now I can connect to the LTE network but my LTE speed are only about 10mbps download???????? I know I can get around 16mbps on the HSPA+ network as I used to get these speeds on my HTC amaze. Anyone know why the LTE speeds are so slow?

I'm currently using pda.bell.ca and tried pda2.bell.ca for a bit with no LTE. Bell techs are saying it may be the plan I'm on (6GB smartphone) but I'm hearing other users have this same data plan and it works.. who knows, it could be the phone itself!
kind of OT but where did you get it unlocked from and for how much? link? thx
to unlock it go to cellunlocker.net , only tooke about 2 hours for me to get the code for 7.99 plus tax, i use them all the time
I'm using the HOX for the last 2month on Bell LTE no problems here LTE kicks in perfectly fine. Mind you there's some spots here in the City where there's not LTE service but even on the 4G network I can manage a could 8mpbs/sec ratio.
Cheers.
Checking back in to this thread - has anyone on a Rogers device updated their radios with a noticeable increase in signal strength and speed? I'm still running the stock radio at the moment.

Unlocked infuse with tmobile on att band

I have a question for anyone to anwser. I have an unlocked infuse on tmobile service. We all know that the phone will only get 3G because tmobile and att use different bands. I recently was playing with the network setting and had the option to pick tmobile or att network. Well I pick the att network to see what it would do. Sure enough, I'm on atts network getting faster speeds. My question is what happends if I leave it on this setting? Will I get crazy charges from tmobile?

Are u sure u get 3G speed on tmobile ?
What i know tmobile uses 1700 for 3G and infuse does not have that band on ......I may be wrong.
Not sure. I do know when I'm on tmobie settings the data icon says G and E from time to time. And when I'm on the att setting it says H. And my speeds are faster

As you know, the AT&T and T-Mobile merger failed. As part of the agreement, the two companies have entered a roaming agreement where-in T-Mobile's customers can roam on AT&T's 1900Mhz 3G network as long as the phone supports that frequency.
You may want to contact T-Mobile if you're concerned about excessive roaming on AT&T.
t-mobile is "refarming" with 1900mhz support. So you might be the lucky one.
Curious, what city/state are you in?

[Q] Can't get LTE on Tmobile. Any solutions?

Was hoping for some help on getting LTE on Tmob.
Running Cyanogenmod 10.1.2.
Using fast.t-mobile.com APN
Have tried the following radios:
UCMC1
UXUMA7
MUGMC5
MUGLH2
MUGLCA
The phone is registered on Edge. It will pick up the LTE signal, and will show 4g for about 5 seconds with 4 bars of signal, then 4g with 3 bars of signal for another 20 seconds. After that it will go back to Edge. While it shows 4g, in the status menu/mobile network type it says "LTE:13". When it is briefly connected to LTE I get no data.
I'm at a loss. It seems to connect to the network but will not stay connected. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions? Called T-mobile and they were of no assistance.
BUMP!! would love an answer or a link if this exist already.

Im in the exact same boat. The Tmobile people said that the signals run on different bands, and therefore ATT phones won't always pick the best LTE signals as a result.
Hey, so there's definitely a thread on this lol. Also I'm on tmobile & I can confirm that LTE works. I'm on UCMC1 and it's works on every ATT ROM or stock based ROM I've thrown at it. By setting the fast APN. Check my pic attached.

[Q] No LTE icon? (my N5 only shows H)

Hello,
I have been using the Simple Mobile $70 plan for unlimited 4G data. Since I got my brand new Nexus 5, I was wondering why I am not getting "LTE" icon on the notification bar. It only shows H/3G which means (I think) HSPDA+. This is weird since the APN is set to T-mobile LTE (fast.t-mobile.com). Can I fix this if I change the service provider to, for example, T-mobile (assuming Simple Mobile 4G is not LTE)? I heard some people are getting LTE icon with Straight Talk and some don't.
Thanks for your advice in advance!

it depends on if u have LTE service in the area you are at. For instance, I only get 3g service at my house , but if i go a block west of my house i get LTE service. Also i have noted that the nexus 5 have weak reception, some spots i can browse and make calls with my Iphone but at the same spot nexus 5 has no service.
And dont trust the T-mobile coverage map, its a bunch of BS. There are so many areas that I know of that have no service at all of any kind and are shown as great service areas on the map. Best way to find out coverage is to just go to different places ( indoors and outdoors ) and test it out.

You are right. The problem is it doesn't work in my house as well as on campus and in any Chicago downtown area. Maybe I need to try another provider? But buying a new sim card, porting, and changing provider are time- and money-wasting.

You should try using an att sim and see what kind of coverage you get. Att is definitely more expensive than t-mobile and you dont get unlimited data no matter what but i see no point of having and paying for a service which you can not use. Also you can ask someone else who has the nexus 5 and t-mobile how the coverage is for them in and around the areas you frequent, it might be a device issue.

My friend just told me the processor might not be compatible with the bandwidth that simple mobile uses. I also read some articles saying that LTE support is somewhat perplexing (http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/170166-nexus-5-excellent-global-coverage-perplexing-lte-support),
and that AT&T is fully compatible (http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...y-compatible-with-atts-lte-and-hspa-networks/). Your N5 is working fine with AT&T, right?

Nope. Simple Mobile is an MVNO that operates on T-Mobile's network. The nexus 5 supports all the bands that T-Mobile broadcasts on.
Does Simple Mobile even offer LTE? Because according their website they do not, but they offer hspa+. Which is kind of considered 4g speeds. No mention of LTE.

I dont see the connection between the processor and bandwidth. I have no idea what bands simple mobile uses but thats based on the radio of the device. As far as i know Nexus 5 supports 3g/4g(h)/LTE for tmobile and att, never used sprint so cant say.
Yes i got my phone from T-mobile and i just put my work att sim card into it, all that was needed was a reboot and it automatically picked up att service with LTE. Data speeds are great, getting 8+ Mbps with only 2 bars of service.
I do think that the nexus 5 have reception issues, the same att sim card in an htc one or iphone 5 gives minimum 4 bars but data speeds are around the same (+ 2~3 Mbps) but more consistent. With t-mobile, i was missing calls, receiving texts hours later and the phone was just hopping between LTE, H and No service.

Yes, I remember OOKLA test once peaked 14Mbps, so it's not just 3G. After some research, I found that Nexus 5 works with LTE bands 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41 while T-mobile uses 4 only, Verizon uses 4/12, AT&T uses 2/4/17/29/30, and Sprint uses 25/26/41. Is it a good idea to change the provider to AT&T, or Sprint? Do they support porting in most cases? Thanks.

Actually there is a direct connection between the CPU and the bandwidth support because the radio is part of the snap dragon 800 'system on a chip' CPU.

I never really looked into the SOC on the snap dragon, the radio modem being on the die with the CPU would definitely effect the throughput. Thanks for the link, I have some further researching to do
