[Q] Recovery woes. Suggestions? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

CWM 6.0.1.0. is installing roms fine, but I can't get it to backup and restore properly (making it extremely irritating to try new roms I may not like). So I installed TWRP via EZ Recovery recently, and for the life of me, I can not get it to install any rom, but it will backup and restore perfectly. What am I doing wrong? I've been flashing roms since the Droid X days and I'm stuck trying to wrap my head around this. Thanks for any help

I would try to reinstall the twrp recovery using the goo.im app to make sure you get the latest version 2.5.0.0

[Q] Hydro Rom and CWM

Good Morning,
After searching all of 100 pages in the post for the Hydro rom I have a question that I didnt find in the thread.Im on latest JB/OTA update for my TF300t and I have flashed the CWM recovery after unlocking my bootloader. Now,I want to install the latest Hydro rom but the developer is suggesting the latest TWRP for the rom.
My question is,will i be able to flash the rom using CWM or do I have to use twrp?If so will i end up with a brick if i side load twrp along cwm?
The only place i didnt check is the youtube video instructions since im on a restricted network...
Anyone?
Im really itchy to flash the new rom I just need to know if i can flash both cwm and twrp or if it is safe with cwm already installed to flash twrp on top of it.

It is an either or situation. There is one recovery partition and you can have stock, cwm, or twrp. You can't have more than recovery installed at a time.
There are a lot of issues being reported with cwm recently. Since the op says twrp I used twrp. It may or may not work with cwm.
Be aware that a backup made with cwm probably won't restore with twrp or the other way around.
Good Luck!

Please help PLEASE (failed nandroid restore)

Hello, i previously recovered using xsball gingerbread guide, i thought id brave roms again and was using touch recovery that came with the guide. To help things a long i took backups and restored then when roms failed etc. this all went fine.
I thin thought, maybe its because im using touch that roms were failing so i installed non touch 5.0.2.0, took my backup and flashed my rom (CM10). This failed (bootloop) so i tried to restore my backup. CM repotred that the backup was successfull but now when i reboot im stuck at LG logo with all of the lights on and nothing happening.
I can get back into CWM can anyone suggest ANYTHING?
Maybe if someone could upload the same version of CWM touch that came with the GB guide i could flash that via CWM non-touch somehow?
can someone suggest ANYTHING to get my phoen to work again
Thanks (Desperate)

[Q] 2 Recoverys Flashed Help!

A while ago i rooted my phone and put a custom rom on it, liked it the got sick of it then flashed back to stock . a day or two later i instantly regretted this decision so i reverted back. This was a very drawn out process because my phone was being dumb etc, i initially tried to flash TWRP on it which worked , but it never flashed roms correctly for me , so i flashed CWM on it and that worked. flashed a rom , and it worked. I now want to flash a new rom but when i boot to recovery , TWRP is still there but when i am in Rom manager, it says CWM 6.0.3.1 is installed.
Is there a way to use odin to flash this back to stock and just flash CWM on the so i can get on with my life and flash new roms?
TL;DR
there are 2 recoveries (TWRP and CWM)
TWRP is accessible but doesn't work
need access to CWM
is there odin or a type of software i can use to solve this ?
I know i ****ed up pretty good, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Download GooManager from the Playstore. Then from GooManager run OpenRecoveryScript which will flash the latest TWRP.

I'm pretty sure that GooManager will install only TWRP. I would start there to fix your problem, since GooManager will install the recovery easily. Once you have TWRP you can switch by installing CWM if you'd like. For that, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305721

XT926 - not sure how best to proceed

First off, I just switch to my first android phone from iOS, so although I have plenty of experience jailbreaking and unlocking over there, I'm new to this, so hand-holding is appreciated
I have a developer XT926 phone. Fastboot says it's unlocked with status code 1. It came running 4.0.4, and I rooted it using motofail2go. I now want to install CyanogenMod 10.1 (or some other version 4.2 rom that you guys think is better), as described here. However, I have been unable to find detailed instructions on how to install it after booting into recovery mode. (I'm guessing those steps are well-know on xda, but forum and google searches didn't help.)
Additionally, since I have an unlocked dev phone, can I install one of these unsigned roms directly, or will I need to first install clockworkmod, safestrap, etc (and if so, any advice on which one).
Thanks the any help you can give me
You need to install a custom record very like twrp or cwm. Either is fine and you can easily switch later if you want to try them both out. Once you have your custom recovery installed, you'll need to boot into recovery. From there you will v be able to backup your current setup followed by a factory wipe and ROM install. Good luck

Thanks. So I have twrp installed and working, and made a successful backup. I was about to install CW 10.1, when I noticed comments that it seems to have a lot of issues. What rom would you recommend I install? Liquidsmooth? Eclipse? CM 10.1 anyway? Thanks again!

Try em all!
I'm an Eclipse man myself.

Clockworkmod not working anymore.

Well I have been a CWM(and sometimes also TWRP) user for years. But I am stumped. I recently started having issues staying connected to AIO/Cricket(voice not even staying connected). As I am running a custom ROM I decided to try Stock and see if the problem persists, thus it may be a hardware issue with the radio or something. So I did a current backup, and restored one from a few weeks back. It's the same ROM but I thought it was worth a shot. It restored fine but the problem persisted. Then I decided to restore my new backup from the hour before. It failed. Gave me an MD5 Mismatch error(I think I have that right). So I made another new backup, same thing. I am unable to restore any backups made right now. I can still restore the one from a few weeks ago. I am running the very latest CWM touch. I tried flashing TWRP to see if that might help(using Rom Manager to do so). This has always worked before. It said that it works, and even tells me it's rebooting into TWRP when I reboot to Recovery. But the broken version of CWM is still what is loading. I am at a loss here.
your issue here is that you are using rom manager. rom manager doesnt fully work, it is broken, stop using it. you can flash a new recovery the right way, via fastboot. you can also flash twrp using the flashify app(yes, it works).

btw, i highly doubt that twrp will be able to restore a cwm backup. but if you have space on your device, it should at least create a backup.

First thing I did. I was able to backup with TWRP. Since I am currently running the restore from that NANDROID from a few weeks ago, it's all good! I am restoring the TWRP i just made, just to be sure. Seems to be restoring fine though. With my NANDRIOD problem solved, I can work on getting this radio issue fixed. I am really hoping it's just ROM related and I can salve it by flashing something else. I'm going to flash STOCK and see if it persists now.

Actually one fast question, if I may. Would it be at all risky to flash the stock radio onto a custom ROM? That seems the easiest fix, if it is a fix at all. I downloaded the correct stock radio for my 820 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-android-4-4-2-kot49h-rooted-busybox-t2557523
If I just flash it over Nikxus would there be a problem?
