[Q] unlocking xperia ion help!!! - General Questions and Answers

Hi all ! I have a problem, i dont know if i am able to unlock my bootloader or not i type in *#*#7378432#*#* and it says that bootloader unlock allowed ( no). but i called up rogers customer care and paid 60 dollars to get the phone unlocked. i was given a new imei number and a non rogers sim card. i put the new sim card in and recieved a message on my phone asking if i wanted to unlock my phone. I put in the new imei number and pressed unlock and that was it. so i checked my settings and nothing has changed all is still the same as before. the bootloader unlock allowed still says (no). and the imei number is still the same as before, but the sim card comes up as unprovisioned, i dont know what that means. so i called up customer care again. They say its a problem with sony, and that i have to get in touch with them. although the tech guy that i was talking with through rogers admittedly said he was tech aliterate and didnt have a clue what i was even trying to do. Another question is do i activate the new sim card? I wasnt looking to switch my carrier.

If you've had your AT&T account for a while, just call up their service center and ask them for the unlock code, and possibly mention you may need it for travelling abroad. That's what I did, and they just gave me the code, no questions asked! To get the pop-up requesting the unlock code, you need to insert the SIM of another carrier - SPRINT / T-MOBILE etc, and reboot the phone... Good luck!
ive done that.. ive never been with att... i just bought the phone off ebay..
lol... well if you bought the phone off ebay, att customer service should give you the unlock code no fuss at all.
ok but i still cant get into where i put the unlock code.. it says my sim card is missing.. i did it with different t-mobile sim cards also.
Try and get a hold of an AT&T SIM card from a friend's phone and validate that the phone at least works with it. BTW.. did you perchance get this phone from a guy named Charlie in California? I happened to see an AT&T Tilt for sale on Craigslist last week, and he said the SIM card connector wasn't working... maybe he sold it on eBay? ...just a wild thought...
run the program simlock.exe which is in the windows directory, and you can enter your unlock code. Even then......it seems like you phone is still not reading your sim card. my suggestion.......put a piece of paper behind the sim card......see if that helps.
i'm assuming u tried the unlocking program already
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361039
cus it worked for me, and i'm on t-mobile as well...
you were right.. i put a piece of paper behind it and it read the sim
If it says Sim card is missing, then the phone is not reading the SIM card.
You would get a SIM card Invalid or it will ask for unlock code if the phone is still locked.
Try cutting a piece of paper, size of the sim, fold it, then put it on top of the sim. Put the sim card in with the paper on top. Some Tmo SIMs are quite thin, so they wont read.
My coworker had this issue with their tilt. It was fixed by just doing the above.

nvm. i guess im a minute too late..

S7 need an Active Sprint SIM Card in order to do the last Profile Update for UNLOCK?

Can't believe what I heard from the Sprint Reps today about my Locked Galaxy S7. They claim that the only way to unlock the device is to have an Active Sprint Sim Card so that I can successfully Update the Profile one last time after they unlock the device on their systems.
I got the phone used and person did not perform the unlock while their subscription was active, so I'm stuck with a 700 brick?
Don't have an *Active* Sprint SIM Card to perform this 2 minute operation that will result in an Unlocked G930P. Both Sprint Stores nearby refuse to allow me one of their testing SIM's or help in any way.
This is unbelievable. Heard online that Qualcomm S7's were invincible; truly seems the case. Can't believe they rather me pay some third party store 50 USD to unlock instead of charging me something like 20 USD to unlock after deactivation or something.
Tried flashing many versions etc only to find out after months of trial and error, calling many times both carriers (Sprint and T Mobile) and taking it to various Android Hardware Tech shops.
No one want to lend me their active sim cards to do this.. Apparently having the Sprint SIM Card inside and their last Profile Update seems actually really to be the only way to unlock.. Anyone have any information about this?
Is this the only way to really unlock the device? I actually have the damn MSLOCK code I got from Sprint directly but I can't find anywhere to input it and the Sprint Reps told me that for this model it is impossible to unlock with code like that because only they can unlock it via their "last final profile update" method.. So I wonder, why did they even give me this MSLOCK code then?
Still can't believe to such a degree that I posted this thread about it.
Ill viciously add that their customer service Reps tried to unsuccessfully brainwash me into thinking it was somehow T Mobile's fault that the UICC was locked.. Some lies about its their SIM Card's fault or something as if you are supposed to hand T Mobile a Locked Phone and expect it to work somehow. General population must really be oblivious to reality. Phone display clearly its not Unlocked under UICC, dont aggressively try to push the lie that phone's unlocked because your System " sais that it is" and you assume I don't know better than that. Then they sort of hold this grudge about it as they annoyingly interrupt everything you say repeating the same nonsense. Might have capacity to unlock with a Paid Sim Card however my phone is obviously not unlocked and its really annoying how they play this pychological thing out and act sort of angry if you know any better. Phone in my hands sais its locked, ive taken it to 5 places and they all say its locked and Ive gone through the process before with other phones when its UICC Unlocked it clearly sais UNLOCKED under UICC, not "Locked To Sprint Sim Cards"..
Sprint -10
Next its a Librem Linux Phone unbranded to any of these "phone companies" and with one of these new VOIP type services or something. along those lines.. If anyone got any recommendatiosn Ill gladly take them, Im done with the carrier mafia thing
Aren't they supposed to follow the FCC and Unlock my device even if my contract with them is over?
Can't they just send me the Update through a flashable odin file or email or OTA or anything?
If its just a profile update there should be a way to get the necessary flashable files and odin them into my phone shouldnt there?

need help tmobile device unlock app not working

Ok so I'm in tmobile prepaid.
I have a galaxy s10e that is was purchased full price from someone else. We verified everything at a tmobile store. The unlock was approved and i got the email approval. The tmobile device unlock app for this phone doesn't work. So I have to go to settings>network>more>network unlock
Or something like that. I get an error message that ends in 0x86
On both temp and perm unlock
I already went through it with tech support 17 diff calls. Nothing. Nobody knows what this error is. Ine tech guy gave me two sets of numbers. Both 8 digits. I believe these are the nck or unlock codes but my question or rather what I need help in is inputting these codes. I tried the generic ones I found online to no avail. The dial codes is what I'm talking about. Also when I reset with unlocked rom it still says to put tmobile sim. And doesn't give me a option to input unlock code that I have
I even called Samsung and they cant help me bc it's a tmobile phone. Tmobile doesn't know how to input the code when I do mention it. And yes I reset the phone put a diff sim. Tried with Abd w/o wifi. Everything.
So now I flashed the U1 rom on it amd the unlock options in the network settings is no longer there. Obviously bc u flashed the unlocked rom on it.
Any suggestions? Tmobile is giving me minimal help bc I'm a prepaid customer

Does model G020E mean the hardware is Verizon and cannot be bootloader unlocked?

The model is G020E, but does not have any Verizon branding on it; everything just says Google. I was told it was a Sprint phone, but I don't know if that means Sprint sold it, or if it was just moved to Sprint network at some point. Either way, the only branding (physical and software) is Google.
When I go into Developer Options, OEM unlocking is greyed out and says "Connect to the internet or contact your carrier." (Connecting to the internet doesn't change anything.)
From what I've read, there's no way to unlock the bootloader on the Verizon version. Does it sound like this phone is in that group?
Also, I've read some people saying that Verizon will unlock the phone after it's been activated for a couple months. It seems like they are talking about SIM unlocking, but I've also seen claims that people got the bootloader unlocked by just waiting the 60 or so days. Anyone have any experience with that?
Thanks

I Googled the model and it said it's an unlocked model. But once you boot it with that Verizon SIM card in it, Verizon will lock you out of OEM unlocking. Remove your SIM card and factory reset. Go through the setup, then try the OEM unlocking again (remember after you flip that switch, you still need to go through fastboot to actually unlock). Then factory reset again, this time with your SIM card installed.
That 60 days thing is definitely SIM unlocking. It will be a cold day in hell before Verizon consciously allows the bootloader to be unlocked.

Question Verizon unlocked S21+ Help

Im not very good with these carrier locked/unlocked phones. I currently bought a Verizon Galaxy S21+ which is allegedly unlocked. The phone has all verizon bloatware/verizon boot up screen.
I have a Sprint SIM and when I put it in the phone I get the "SIM is not a Verizon SIM card" message and I get no service. Iv tried manually entering Srint APN info to no avail.
Is it safe to assume this phone is not unlocked or am i missing something?
Thanks
what network does sprint even use? cant recall. i dont think its GSM.. and yes. if your phone isnt unlocked yet, what were you expecting? its a simple matter to call a provider and ask for an unlock, they sometimes want you to have the phone for some sort of 60 day wait first, though. and down in the settings theres a item for request permanent unlock and temporary unlock. you may have to use it, after you request yours over the phone.
im dealing with this now, with tmobile. basically it all becomes a little clunky when you didnt actually buy your device from your provider. but its still a simple thing in this day and age, just call them and make them earn that pay. sooner started, sooner finished.
