New battery, which one? - HTC Sensation

First off all, sorry for opening another topic about a battery but I've read a lot and still don't know which one I've to buy. Currently I'm using the stock battery in my Sensation XE (1730mah). But I've to charge it too many so I want a better one but don't want a custom cover so my phone is thicker.
I've searched on eBay and found a 2680mah battery! But Japan stuff.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251164807167 which I'm not really trusting. So I've send a message to the seller:
- Does it really fit in the default case?
- Is the battery certified or something? CE, RoHs? Legal in Europe?

And the response:
Dear customer, our batteries have passed all the safety tests,
are CE compliant, making them safe for phones, are equal in size and shape to the original batteries, changing only the mah and weight, our customers notice a duration of more than 30% more than the original battery.
thanks

What do you guys think? I've read another topic about a 2400mah Japan battery which was actually 900mah.
Next I've read about this one: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/330683288786 and I've read some stuff about an exploded battery.. something I don't want!!
Please give me some advice from your experience.

Probably fake. Looks like the other one you mentioned (2400mah) with another label.
I'd suggest you to go with anker 1900mah.

Thanks for your reply! But there's a topic about an exploded Anker battery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514929
Can someone recommend me another good battery or can convince me that the Anker battery is the best choise?

Anker is the best, I use it, and so does at least half the Sensation forum.
It performs about the same as the stock XE battery.
Batteries such as the one you linked are much, much more likely to explode. Anker is a quality company which does lots of R&D.

Thanks! Just bought this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/320820724921

Good choice. You won't regret.
This anker battery exploded is totally fake. Some users described how fake is this thread.

These scammers know their market, I'll give them that. People who believe that exploding Anker tripe are also likely to believe the fantasy of a 2400+ mAh stock-size battery.

I'm using the Brixt 3100mAh and these are my stats. I'm also on Elegancia 5.0 and 3.33 FW

Hey dude.
I've got 3 batteries:
1: HTC Stock/standard battery.
2: Anker 1900mah
3: The exact same gold one as in the Ebay link.
I find the HTC battery and the Anker battery to be complete garbage.
But, was completely surprised when I bought the gold battery claiming to be 2430 mah (that's what mine says on it) and whilst it may not be genuinely 2430 mah, I have to say...it's MUCH better than the Anker & HTC batteries.
I'm getting 12 hours MORE on my Sensation with the gold battery in, compared to the other 2.....LOVE it!:good:

Thanks for the answers, bought the Anker, so I'm looking forward to receive it!

What was your screen on time?

For me, my gold 2430mah battery is a lot and I mean a LOT better than my Anker and my HTC battery.
over 24 hours of average use, using loads of gps, game, brightness on full etc and still have loads of battery left.

Could you please post your battery stat like my second photo? I think tapping history will show it.
This is my anker stats. Light usage, but downloaded and installed new build still in this cycle.

Over twice the price for marginal (if any) benefit.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using Tapatalk 2

just understand it
you cant make a 2450 mah in the same size that the original
it is faked
the anker on the other hand is more optimistic 1950 mah, but it is really strongly(25% better for me)
also, the anker is havier than the original(~3 grams more) - that is what allows it to be stronger
the golden ones will weight the same as the origina, or in the best situation - same as anker
if you want a quality one buy the anker(or the mugen which is also good as the anker but expensive)

1800mah Anker

I've been looking at anker , HTC evo 3d and HTC Amaze batteries since they are all backwards compatible with the HTC Sensation.
These are my choices so far...
Anker 1900mah $15.00+
Anker 1800mah $11.00
HTC evo 3d "oem" 1730mah $7.00
From what I've seen on the forums.. Ankers are rated at 1700mah and the HTC evo 3d battery out performs Ankers.
There's just a lot of speculation and Hype about the Ankers.
If anyone can give me their opinion on which battery is better for the price I would appreciate it.
Anker
I've seen an huge increase with the Anker and I beat my phone throughout the day.
Get the Anker 1900mAh, top it off with an ICS rom and you'll be perfectly fine.
You can get an Evo3D battery for $7?? When I checked a while back they were going for $29.99. I guess times have changed with newer phones being out.
I'm a big fan of the Anker 1900. I know third party batteries are hit and miss, but the ones I got for my wife and myself have been great. It used to be a struggle for my phone to last all day on a charge. Now not so much if I keep my syncing reasonable.
My only gripe with the Anker is that I'm sure it's not measuring temperature correctly. There's no way I can overclock to 1.5GHz, run psx emulator for 30 mins and have it still sitting on 25 degrees celcius. It does actually run cooler than stock, but still.
Mine measured at almost the advertised 1900. Don't know how accurate battery monitor widget is, but hey not bad.

Well ankers used to be $10 but at the time I didn't believe about the 1900mah hype and due to the high reviews and popularity of the product now the price has went up to $16.00+.
I just feel like people are purchasing the anker and it's way over priced compared to other batteries in the market.
Interesting Picture with 1882mAh measured.. I'm wondering what other users measure with their batteries.
The Anker lacks a temperature sensor that is why it shows as 25C all the time. I read that 25C is the default temperature reading.
@messawood
Mine is measured for this cycle @1901mAh.
From my experience It's between 1850mAh and 1950mAh.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE35 using XDA App
Regardless of the temperature indication contact it seems like there is more than 1800mah on the anker battery.
So far the best price for an anker is buying 2 for $21.00
If anyone can post their stats or opinion on a oem HTC Evo/Amaze. It would help others.
I have purchased a brand new Evo 3D battery and will be testing it on Saturday.
Cant wait to see what it reports on battery monitor widget.
HTC Amaze battery fits in the Sensation as well. I have one in mine at the moment.
HTC is true to capacity. I'm sure Anker is lower than reported. It's not a true 1800-1900. The HTC will be pretty true. Might be off by a little, not as significantly as the Ankers. I would't be suprised if the Ankers were less than 1730.

I believe I've read somewhere before that you can't rely on those apps 100%. It's like false memory and that the app reads the battery at xxxx mAh.
Kind of like when usb flash drives were new to the market. The fake ones read 4GB, but in reality they were 128kb.

That's the reason why I was wondering what it reads on a amaze/evo battery.
Cause on the app it reads 1520mah for a stock battery which is true.
i am using anker and i don't think it is legit 1800.
it is more or less the same as stock....
it was waste of money

:/ well that was my first expectation of the anker. I didn't give into the 1900mah and then the price went up after people reported good reviews.. but there's "evidence" from the battery monitor widget.. which makes me wonder...
With the prices of the "oem" battery dropping down to 5.99 I went with the oem battery for now even if there's a mere 100mah difference.
Now I'm just waiting for powerskins to drop down to $15-20 dollars
Also if anyone wants to do the Chroming of their sensation the oem backcover/housing is only $13.99 which is cheaper than buying the white housing and looks better imo.

That's the reason why I created this thread. ankers used to be $10.00 before it got popular and now the price is $16.00+ but then again oem evo 3d batteries used to be 30.00+
I just wanted the best battery for the money and obviously the "oem" evo3d batteries is the better choice for the price

Depends on which battery you bought; I'm guessing it was an aftermarket one - there are lots of 'em flying around only some of them are better than the stock one.
Don't just believe the mah they state on the battery.
i'd check this thread, a lot of good stuff written on buying high mAH batteries of places like ebay.
Thank you for this post
There are some people who have had unpleasant surprises when changing battery
I was wondering about batteries made in China.

I have a chinese battery (otb original) and, when it's some hours power the phone with that battery, is like if I'm making long press on home key, and constantly jump the window with last open applications. As if it were a charged capacitor...
Many of the batteries you can find on ebay etc are fake. The mAH is just a sticker and easily printed
A fairly good/simple way to test is to weigh the batteries. If the new battery is lighter, it almost definitely is fake.
Another way is to peel off the sticker. Usually the manufacturer will print the actual capacity on the aluminium thing under the sticker (I peeled off the sticker of a 2.99 battery that was '1500' mAH - said it was 1000 underneath).
Is this too good to be real? I think they have less capacity. Anyone bought 1800mAh batteries from ebay that really are 1.8Ah? It would be nice if the saler ship worldwide.
I am looking to buy an extra battery, the current one holds about 8-12h of (heavy?) usage, Wi-Fi always ON, 3G/2G depending on the signal, most of the time full brightness, 20min-2h games or movies, 20min browsing the web and a few calls, at most 20min and frequently looking at the clock.
I bought an anker 1800 from amazon, as far as I can tell it's genuine

may be it will be my choice !
I bought Muggen 3200 battery and have very good feedback for last 12 months
It is bigger, more heavy and shipped with special back case
but automy is perfect with it !
From what i've read mugen are very credible for extended batteries, as are momax. Momax make a 1800mAH (to my best memory) which is the same size as the normal, or the 2700mAH battery which is a little thicker, but apparently gives a very good battery life
I`m using PolarCell 1800mAh and I`m very happy with staying power.

Epic 4G Phone Battery Reviews

Hey everyone, I recently got a Western Mountain Radio Computerized Battery Analyzer so I plan to start reviewing batteries for our Epic (and whatever else I can find).
If you would like anything else reviewed you can PM me and we an talk about maybe sending yours or if you haven't ordered one, ordering it to my house and I'll review it and then send it to you. (Maybe we could work out some kind of collateral or insurance so you know I'm good for it)

I have a feeling the values given from the app are completely inaccurate, considering I use it myself to get a feel of battery vs. battery (it is great for logging percentages with relation to time) but the capacity measuring sessions have shown me very different ratings for the same battery every time I have done a monitored charging session. I personally don't trust it but I'll be happy to include them as well if you'd all like.
2 Generic 3500mAh battery reviews coming soon! The results are surprising
I think that having a battery thread with testing etc. is a great idea. Many of us are using a combination of stock 1500 mah as well as 1800 mah Samsung batteries, but there are quality generics out there that may possibly match and/or exceed the performance of stock... it's a matter of finding those and testing them out.

Thanks,
I'm currently working on the Fat Generic 3500 batteries but soon I'll get up the 1500mAh and 1800mAh OEM batteries for your viewing pleasure (I have a feeling the 1500mAh won't do too hot since it's older than my phone as it's my dad's original battery and he bought the Epic 4G when it first came out)
I'll include purchase dates of all the batteries if I can dig them up, so far the one Generic I have is rather disappointing but the other is quite impressive. I've yet to test the third as it's my daily driver but I'll see how it compares. I always knew the one wasn't at it's peak anymore and I'm guessing it's probably the first fat battery I bought when I got my Epic.
Naturally if anyone wants to send me their 1500mAh or 1800mAh (or any other battery they have) I'd be glad to add them to the the list for comparisons sake (and to get a better idea of general battery quality trends)

If you want I can run my tests on your Hyperion if you think you have a better one, the more pooled results the better the data!

After that test I contacted Hyperion and will be getting a replacement. 1745 mAh is really too low for a 3500 mAh extended. Ill break it in for a week and send it to you for a test if that's alright. To the other poster, my batter life was pitiful any way I looked at it. I don't know if I could get 5 hours screen on time.

That OEM 1800 mAh review really should be done with an almost virgin battery to see its original capacity. Maybe someone with a new one could send it in or someone who is going to get one could order it to you.

I'm planning to buy but I wonder about its performance
(1800-1230)/1230*100% ~= 46.34% => 146.34% performance compared to original one
i had one of these. not reliable.
the only reliable extended battery is the mugen one
Also the 1900mah Anker is working great as many users have written to other similar topic.
I have it since Easter and battery life is amazing.

So all other battery with high mAh except Mugen are fake capacity, aren't they ?
but Mugen does not have 1800mAh or higher, they have 1600mAh for Desire HD only.
How about these battery ?
From Gmarket.co.kr (Korean)
about 9$
about 15$
from amazon.com
about 5$
from eBay.com
about 9$

Most of those batteries are fake, especially the cheap ones. It's not really an improvement over the standard battery.
My original battery works around 18-24h for me with my normal use.
With this battery...
-can't input outside link- Search "B004I227RK" @ amazon.de
...i have around 35-45 hours. At least it has only 1300mAh. But it works really fine for me.

agree...
i bought one of these from ebay and its doesnt worth it
I bought a battery for desire hd from ebay for $5 with 1600mAh. Testing it with a professional battery charger I discovered that his power storage capacity was only 800 mAh (worse than the original after 1.5 years of use).
Also when I tried to use phone camera with the flash the phone suddenly reboots, which is not the case with the original battery.
Bye
I bought a battery on amazon that claimed to be 1600mah but it was only 1230mah

Battery drain is 0,5%/hour on JellyTime R9 with this battery.
I've got a 'gold edition' 2500 mAh I purchased on eBay for about 5$ (CAD). Its BS! Lasts about as long if not a little shorter than oem @ 1350mAh?!!!

I have seen the Anker 1600 mAh batteries on Amazon UK for £10 for 2 (incl a charger) which has pretty good reviews.
In my experience, for cheaper batteries you cant always trust a mAh rating for many cheaper batteries.
The Mugen and Anker ones consistently get good reviews.
I bought the Anker battery 1600 mAH from Amazon but I did not get Anker and got a different one instead. The battery I got was 1500 mAh. So be careful ordering from Amazon if at all you are looking for Anker replacement batteries. The good thing though is that I got the money refunded and the battery which I got isn't that bad either. I am for sure getting more usage time with the new battery.

Same here. But can be use as spare battery, performance the same like oem. One problem current widget cannot detect battery temperature

Well... the thing about battery capacity is pretty mathematical. For a given volume of battery, you can only fit so much capacity inside.
That's why ebay batteries touting unusual figures are fake. If you're lucky they will have the stock capacity.
The only exception to this is Mugen, as far as I'm aware. They have squeezed some extra capacity (not much, takes it up to 1500mAh).
Batteries are also cheap if the manufacturer takes shortcuts on the charging circuitry. Another good reason to avoid the $5 1800mAh wonders.
So, I would only recommend 2 batteries: HTC's, and Mugen's.
End of thread?

The 1800 mah batteries for the Epic Touch work great too. Samsung-branded OEM batteries have been much better than any of the 'compatible' batteries. Amazon has them for about $15
anker 1800mAh
I just ordered 2x of these Anger 1800mAh batteries from Amazon. Have great reports/reviews on Amazon, will report here if they're any good or not.

Check out my battery reviews in my sig to get an idea, I believe that the fat 3500 batteries have value that CANNOT be beat! (as long as added girth isn't minded)
A solid slim battery would be the OEM 1800mAh battery from the Epic Touch (just MAKE SURE it's true OEM and not a knock off that just looks like it... there are certain tells such as listed model numbers and other markings)
I find my OEM Samsung 1800mah to be substantial. Lasts the day and that's all I need I suppose. I can't stand fat batteries.

Yeah the 1800mAh batt is my favorite slim batt for sure just wish they were as cheap as the fat batts so you can choose between thin or capacity. I don't believe they deserve to be more than $1 in difference for the price/ performance to be on par with da fatties

I take it the 1800mAh batts don't need a bigger batt cover, right?

You're quite welcome!! I may go on to review my dad's 5 batteries for his S4 (2 OEM and 3 Generic) but I'm still sporting our good old Epic. Might upgrade/switch to a Stratosphere II (Epic on crack)

I bought what appear to be OEM samsung 1800 mAh batteries from Amazon and they weren't stellar performers. i think it might be possible that these are seconds or b-stock or something. I had the stock 1400 that came with my phone in rotation and I just didn't see a big difference with the 1800.
However, I just bought Anker 1800s and those things have impressed me. 2 batteries and an outboard charger for $20 is a helluva deal, too. I am gun shy about buying the ones that are marked "samsung" now due to the negative experience I had. Your mileage may vary.

*1500mAh stock
You may have bought a counterfeit in OEM's clothing. Can you get some pictures up of your "OEM" samsung 1800 batts??
I hear good things about Anker batteries but haven't had the pleasure of using them nor testing them. Would you want me to analyze yours?
I just bought this battery a week ago and feel as though it may be a knock off. It only gets about 8 hours of life before dying. How can you tell if it's a fake?
I guess I could have resized...oops sorry!

Hmm...that does appear to be genuine...
Maybe they sent you some used ones or possible "new" ones that have sit unused in the warehouse for too long. Would you like me to analyze them for ya?? (or any other batteries)
As you saw my dad hadn't had his for longer than 6 months and his 1800 battery dropped from 1800mAh to about 1500mAh average.
Have you fully discharged and charged them a couple times. They might need that.

I was expecting to see a MFG date on it like my two (3 year old) factory batteries I have. After a few days of using the 1800 I went back to them since they at least make it through the day. They've had a few charge cycles or more.
The first day or so was rough since the phone was reporting 15-20% power and then would just power off. I'd turn it back on and it'd say 5% or something. Admittedly when I put this new battery in I deleted the battery stats file so I attributed this initial behavior to that.
I was planning to return the battery if it's worth my time/money since I got it fairly cheap on ebay (doh!). I should have read these threads before shopping there for bargains.
How would you go about analyzing batteries? Need to send them to you?
