Hi,
i switched from my good old SGS1 to SGS3.
I did a backup of my call log and sms with Titanium Backup Pro (Key) "Save to xml"... sms/mms and call log
Moved the xml files to the new phone and tried to restore xml backups.
But... TB opens only an empty text file - no restore no nothing
Did i something wrong?
TIA
Christian
Found a solution myself.
I had to choose auto indirect (2nd option) at the last point at options menu. Something like "problems with backup / restore".
Thanks anyway
Christian

First of all Congrats for ur new SGSIII
Can you tell me how to backup and restore sms and call log in a xml file through titanium backup.
I love Titanium Backup - paid for the full version - but ...
... you are better off using SMS Backup & Restore for your messages. You can set it to auto-backup every day, hour or whatever and even dump the backup onto DropBox.

Yes, Simon is right, for your messages you are better off using SMS backup & restore from the playstore. It is very easy to use.

I think you can do it also with TB on the menu 'Schedule', and then in 'Add schedule'.
But I also use SMS Backup & Restore, I think it's more simple. This to SMS and TB to Apps :silly:
I would rather use SMS backup pro

All well and good for SMS, but how would you backup and restore MMS?
Titanium backup does both. The only other app I found that does both
is "MMS Backup and Restore", but it's full of bugs and I haven't had
much success with it.

I've used the TiBackup SMS/MMS restore and it works great. I don't really need the scheduled backups though, I would just backup before installing a new ROM or something. You could even backup straight to Dropbox and have a backup in case you lose your phone.
Do you mind elaborating how?

I know that I've successfully backed up my sms/mms in Titanium Backup because when I went to restore everything (moving from evo 3d to evo 4g lte so that was a big no-no in itself) all of the sms/mms came over to the new phone. Of course, restoring everything caused problems so I had to undo the operation via factory reset. Now, I'm manually restoring only the elements that I need, but cannot for the life of me figure out where the sms/mms information would be stored. Any insight you can provide would be much appreciated.
This is a noobs Guide to how to use Titanium Backup .
Many of the users might have heard of a app named Titanium Backup. Its the most used app in the Android Market who frequently flash ROMS and for those who doesnt want to download all apps again and again from Store after flashing new ROMS.
What is Titanium Backup?
Titanium Backup is an app which can backup all your app+data in just one click(Even system apps but not recommened). Can delete system apps, convert system apps to user apps.
So how to use.
Note: Your phone must be rooted and USB debugging should be on which is present in developer options while installing.
Lets start with first thing you see after installation.
If you face a root acces failure then tap on option button of your phone scroll down tap on reload application.
You will see 3 tabs:
1.Overview
2.Backup/Restore
3.Schedule
Overview will give you the short details of your root device and memory.
Like Root access. Data profile(Used to set any filters for a app). Memory details of your partitions and usage.
Backup/Restore will show the details of the apps installed in you phone.
You will see different type of apps highlighted in different colors
White: The apps you installed
Red: System apps which can be converted to system apps.
Yellow: Most important system apps which can not be moved(Dont uninstall or else you need to reflash your rom again).
Schedules sets a time for backup.
You can set the type of backup you want at a particular time.
Those who frequently change roms check the 4th post for restore and backup.
Backup specific app
Here comes the real use of Titanium Backup. The backup/Restore Part.
Here you will see the list of apps installed in your phone.
First lets see how to backup a single app.
Now tap on the app.
You will see two tabs
1.Backup Properties
2.Special Properties
1.Backup Properties
a. Backup : This will backup your selected app as app+data.
b. Freeze : This will disable the app.
Rest of the things you know from the name
When backup is complete again tap on the app you took backup. You will see a tab Restore and delete of the app.
Select restore you will see 3 options App+Data, App Only , Data Only
App+Data will restore apk as well as data(Data consists of settings, login info in short user defined settings and all you made for that app)
App will restore app only. Data will restore data only.
2.Special Properties
It is made of 4 sections:
1. General
2. Play store/ Market
3. Storage
4. System ROM.
1General Section is easily understandable.(I hope You can)
In general section there is a option named " Send latest backup" you can send to other phone or store it locally and restore(Check 4th post). The backup is stored in .TiBkp
2. Playstore/Market shows the links of the app in playstore.
3. Storage Section is also understanable. In explore it shows the files it uses and the location of files where it is installed with DB)
4. System ROM section can be used to convert a user application app to system app.
In some app you will see "Force remove app" I would suggest dont click on it.
User app is shown in white after you convert it in system app it will become red.
Schedule
Backup all user apps at one click.
There are two ways to backup data.
1st through schedule.
2nd through advanced option(Check the 4th post)
In schedule tab you will see two schedule as default
1. Redo backups for modified data
2. Backup new user apps & newer versions
1.Redo backups for modified data.
What it does is takes the backup of new data of all user apps(Like whatsapp chats, new user settings etc).
2. Backup new user apps & newer versions
This schedule automatically backups the newer versions(Updated version) at a given schedule time.
If you want you can manually run the schedules by just clicking on run. Titanium backup will be minimized. The progress can be seen in notification drawer. After completion it will vibrate.
So now you have taken the backup of all your apps through just one click.
You can add new schedule as you want.
Restore and backup all apps at once and restore your apps from previous roms \.
This is the most advanced part of Titanium Backup.
After installing new rom you will see a warning showing change in android device ID. Details are given in warning messsage.
Now click the option button of you phone.
You will see 7 sections:
1.General
2.Play store/Market
3.Storage
4.Import/Export
5.Special Backup/Restore
6.Your Device
7.Special Features
1.General section there 4 options:
1 Filters: This section filters the apps you want to see. If you want to see only user apps select only User. The change can be seen in backup/Restore Tab. As you have selected user apps you will see all the apps in white.
2. Batch Restore: This section should be used properly. This section restores app+data in just one click.
This is distributed in 10 sections:
1. Verify Backup: Verifys backup.
2. Backup: Select the type of backup: Use the 1st one "Backup all user apps" Dont backup system data as it will create conflict in new rom when you restore it.
When you select this option all your user apps will be displayed.
3.Restore: This option will restore all backups.
When you select the 2nd option "Restore all apps with data". In top you will see three options App+Data, App only, Data Only.
If you dont want to restore a particular just untick that app and it will not be installed.
If you find that some apps are not restore just select the 1st option " Restore missing apps with data". It will show the list of unrestored apps.
4. Move/ Integrate: This section moves apps to sd card or from sd card to internel. Dont RUN the 3rd option "Integrate updates" As it will create a conflict.
5. Freeze/ Defrost: This section disables the apps.
6. Android Market: Links for the user apps.
7. Manipulate data: This section clears data of all user apps at once. Rest i didnt use so cant tell(Last 3 option).
8. Recovery mode: In this section you can create a update.zip of all your apps which can be flashed through recovery.
9. Uninstall: Will uninstall all your apps at once.
10. Delete Backups : This section will delete all the backup at once.
2. Play store /Market: This section consists of links of apps to the playstore.
3. Storage: In this 1st option shows the usage of the apps. Rest leave untouched.
4. Import: This will import the backups done by Titanium backup of a particular app (Check 2nd Post how to export a app)
5.Special Backup / Restore:
5.1 Backup data to xml : This section backup your msgs, call logs , wifi password.
5.2 Restore data from xml : This section will restore msgs, call logs , wifi password.
5.3 Extract from Nandroid backup : This section will restore app from the backup of your ROM made through recovery.
5.4 Extract from ADB Backup: Haven't used this feature so cant tell
6. Your Device: Reboot and Manage Android ID.
7. Special Feature:
It creates a update.zip of itself(Titanium Backup) which can be flashed through recovery.(Install Zipsigner from store to create update.zip)
Reload Application: Will Reload the app.
So finally you have restored all your apps. If you have missed an app to restore but dont want to take long process to restore just go to backup/restore tab. Scroll Down. You will see that particular app in strike through. Tap on that app. Select restore.
The backups are stored in sdcard in a folder named "Titanium Backup". Dont delete this folder or else you will lose all your backed up apps.
Future
For future use.
Thank you. I've heard of Titanium Backup but never used it. Does backing up use a lot of data?

I think you mean space? Off course buddy backup will take space.. The more you install apps and take backup it will consume space in your card..

It is safe but make a backup first then remove it. As this are system apps I won't recommend to remove it cz this apps could be associated with other apps which may not work properly if you remove them..

Unable to Restore APKs
Hi all. Hopefully someone can tell me how dense I am for not being able to solve this problem (or whether it's a problem at all). I have an Asus TF700 and recently changed from a stock-based jb custom rom to a cyanogenmod-based kk custom rom. On the old rom I ran the batch bakup all user apps filter, wiped tab from recovery, then installed new rom. TB was already installed on new rom so I just opened it, granted su, enabled USB debugging, and went to batch restore option. All of my app data is available for restore but none of the downloaded user apks themselves are backed up. When I open up the backup properties display for each app it shows Has App: No, Has Data: Yes. I was hoping to batch restore all user apps + data but the only way I can do it now is to install each app individually from the Play Store and then batch restore the data. This has the potential to be a very long process. I don't know if I made a mistake during TB backup or if my new rom/wipe is the problem. I'm hoping someone can point out to me where I went wrong. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

hi, @a-t0m as you are describing your problem.. I think you are not selecting the proper option..
When you open TB you will see a tab called schedule..
In that select add new schedule.. You will see drop down list..
Tap on the first drop down list.. You will see option of backup all user data. Select it.. Save it.. Manually run it or schedule as you like.. Your apk as well as data will be saved..
Hi, wondering if anyone may have a suggestion. I'm not getting any action restoring a backed up User Dictionary with TB. It seems to create the backup but not restore it. Tried both data and app+data and reboots but still no action. HTC One rooted ARHD 71.1 (4.4.2)

Yes, it is. These are bloatware, not required by the system to run.
Cloud sync
I have the full version of TIBackup and used the sync feature to have a copy of my backups in my Google Drive account (manual sync, I lauch it every now and then or just when I want to backup a particular app), what does it happen if I want to cancel them from my phone memory (a nexus 5, if it matters)? next time I make a backup and I give the sync command, will it delete those backup files from my cloud too?
I want to keep them only in my google Drive account.
I have been having issues with Titanium for long time across multiple roms. I have pro version. I have it set to keep 3 latest backups and to restore titanium settings automatically. However, when I do a clean install of a rom and I try to restore apps manually the restore button is missing. It shows the date the backup was created and the delete button is on the right but there is no restore button on the left. I can restore backups from Nandroid using Titanium but this takes forever and the backups are not as fresh.
Any help would be a lifesaver!
Hello experts, I need a help to recover lost chat for WhatsApp.
Recently, I have backup the chat using the settings in the application(WhatsApp) but not in the Google Drive.
And I clear the data from the device settings to use the application with another number.
By mistake, I pressed the "RESTORE" option while I am creating the account with another number. But the application didn't restore any single chats from the previous number.
After this, I have cleared the data and creating the account with the previous number that has used in the backup. And it didn't restore any messages.
After all I have reset my device.
I can't find single chat.
And I am still using WhatsApp to connect with the people.
I am using "Galaxy Grand Duos 1" (GTI9082) uprooted,
with Android 4.2.2
I will appreciate anyone who could help me to recover the previous chats with the valid methods.
Thank you.
Hello, In file manager go to >whatsapp folder > database folder, what can you see there ?

yes, that one can be used to restore your messages
Your phone will store up to the last 7 days worth of local backup files (Google Drive will only have the most recent one). If you wish to restore a local backup which is not the most recent one, you will need to do the following:
In the file manager app, navigate to sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases. If your data is not stored on the SD card, you may see "internal storage" or "main storage" instead of sdcard.
Rename the backup file you wish to restore from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. It is possible that an earlier backup may be on an earlier protocol, such as crypt9 or crypt10. Do not change the number of the crypt extension.
Uninstall WhatsApp
Disconnect your phone from your Gmail so whatsapp wont restore online
Install WhatsApp.
Tap Restore when asked.
This will get you back the messages since that date
Relogin to your gmail when done.
Thanks for the methods. Sorry, the files are of the new chats. Not of the things I would like to recover. What I want to recover is older than a week and my device has gone reset.
Please check my post again.

Hello.
I want to use WhatApp modified .apk with a lot cool features that you can't find within the original app (like themes etc) but I just can't deal with something - with backup restore.
GBWhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus, YoWhatsApp and many more - I just can't restore my chats even with the instructions given on different websites or YouTube tutorials. It simply doesn't work. Oh, and Dr Phone method, or something like that, was also tried without success.
Maybe some of you are using modified WhatsApp and knows how to restore backup from original app? Any help?

I did and forgot about this thread:
I'm using GBWhatsApp. You need to do backup with original WhatsApp app, than copy the entire folder of WhatsApp files to somewhere else on your phone. Unistall the app.
Install GBWhatsApp, open IT, do nothing within the app, close it.
Than in file manager you need to rename every WhatsApp folder to "GBWhatsapp" and every folder within the main WhatsApp folder itself and now folder, for example, "Documents" or "Images" need to be renamed to "GBWhatsApp Documents", "GBWhatsApp Images" and so on. After that open GBWhatsApp app, click "restore data" button, add your number and that is it.
There is one thing - I renamed every WhatsApp folder on my phone and still have no idea which one is the correct one, but it worked.

Thanks for answering. I came by this solution from another site, sadly it didn't work for me. GBWhatsApp deletes backup after number verification.
I'm using Fouad's GBWhatsApp (because there are so many different versions out there and I know Fouad's work from the past), and Fouad's team are aware of the issue and posted a solution in below quote from their Telegram group. It is sooo confusing and I didn't understand any of it.
If only com.whatsapp versions work Samsung Galaxy.....
WE'VE RECEIVED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS ABOUT CHAT DATA BACKUP. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE COME TO TALK TO YOU TODAY. CHAT BACKUP IS DONE IN TWO WAYS :
1. LOCAL CHAT BACKUP (ONLY CHATS, MEDIA) : FROM WHATSAPP OFFICIAL SETTINGS - SETTINGS > CHAT > CHAT BACKUP,
2. TITANIUM BACKUP (WHATSAPPMODS FULL BACKUP) : FMMODS > UNIVERSAL > BACKUP & RESTORE > BACKUP WHATSAPP DATA.
I. CLEAN INSTALL MEANS ONLY LOCAL CHAT BACKUP (FOLLOW NO. 1 METHOD).
II. TITANIUM BACKUP USE WHEN NEED ALL SETTINGS REQUIRED FROM WHATSAPP(FOUADMODS).
III. WHEN YOU ARE FACING ANY ERRORS OR LAGY THEN USE CLEAN INSTALL.
IV. IF YOU ARE BACKUP FULL SETTINGS WITH CHAT BACKUP THEN USE : INSTALL OUR MODS AS PER YOUR LAST PACKAGE > PERMISSION TO ALL IN WHATSAPP APPLICATION > TAP ON CHAT RESTORE IN FRONT PAGE AFTER INSTALLATION > VERIFY YOUR NUMBER > ENJOY. (KEEP IN MIND ONE THING CHAT RESTORED WITH ONLY SAME PACKAGE, OTHERWISE NOT.)
***WHY CHAT BACKUP IS NOT BEING RESTORED ??
1. ACCORDING TO THE NEW ENCRYPTED POLICY, WHATSAPP'S CHAT BACKUP IS NOT INSTALLED ON THE FRONT OF THE PHONE STORAGE AS BEFORE.
2. IT IS NOW INSTALLED IN THE ANDROID FOLDER ( ANDROID > MEDIA > COM.PACKAGE NAME > PACKGE NAME > DETAILS AS FOLDER AS BEFORE.) ***
3. THAT'S WHY MANY USERS HAVE PROBLEMS TO BACK UP THE CHAT, AND LOST THE CHAT. WE'RE SORRY FOR THAT, BUT THIS PROBLEM IS FROM THE OFFICIAL SERVER.
FIND OUT HOW TO BACKUP CHAT NEW METHOD :
1. FIRST THINK ABOUT WHICH U WANT TO RESTORE : ONLY CHAT BACKUP ( FOLLOW METHOD 1) & FULL CHAT BACKUP ( FOLLOW METHOD 2).
2. AFTER CHAT BACKUP DONE AS PER YOUR CHOICE. INSTALL 9.21 FIXED VERSION WHICH PACKAGE U NEED TO USE. JUST AGREE AND CONTINUE > VERIFY NUMBER > OPEN WHATSAPP AS NEW.
3. THEN TAKE A LOCAL CHAT BACKUP & A TITANIUM BACKUP SIMILARLY.
4. CHECK ANDROID MEDIA FOLDER FOR WHATSAPP FOLDER THERE WITH DETAILS OR NOT.
5. NOW YOU HAVE TWO FOLDERS (1. AS BEFORE WHATSAPP FOLDER WITH BACKUPS. 2. NEW FOLDER IN ANDROID MEDIA WITH RECENT BACKUP. )
6. NOW COPY WHATSAPP FOLDER OLD(IF COM.WA), PASTE ON ANDROID > MEDIA > COM.WHATSAPP > PASTE. IF SHOW REPLACE WITH ALL FOLDERS THEN ACCEPT THE POP-UP. CHECK AFTER PASTE FILES, ALL OLD FOLDERS DETAILS PROPERLY INCLUDE THERE OR NOT, MAINLY CHAT BACKUP.
7. FOR THOSE WHO USE OTHER PACKAGE - FOLLOW ABOVE METHOD WHICH INCLUDE FRESH INSTALL WITH NEW CHAT BACKUP (LOCAL+TITANIUM).
8. NOW JUST YOUR PACKAGE COPY INTO ANDROID FOLDER AS THERE NAME WHICH IS YOUR NEEDED PACKAGE(COM.YO / COM.GB / COM.FM).
9. NOW THE MAIN THING TO DO. (BE CAREFULL HERE) COPY THE WHOLE FOLDER AS NAME COM.WHATSAPP / COM.YOWHATSAPP/ COM.FM / COM.GB - ANDROID > MEDIA > COM.PACKAGE NAME (THIS FOLDER SHOULD BE COPY AND PASTE A SAFE FOLDER TO RESTORE PROPERLY.
10. UNINSTALL THE WHATSAPP WHICH U WANT TO RESTORED. INSTALL AGAIN AND PERMISSION TO ALL. DONT OPEN THAT APPLICATION. NOW YOU CHECK THE ANDROID FOLDER TO CHECK THE NAMING PACKAGE FOLDER. THEN PASTE THE COPIED FOLDER WHICH U PASTE ON SAFE FOLDER, INTO ANDROID > MEDIA > COM.PACKAGE NAME ? > PASTE ON THERE.
11. OPEN YOUR WHATSAPP > IF TITANIUM BACKUP REQUIRED THE TAP ON CHAT DATA RESTORE IN FRONT PAGE ABOVE, OTHERWISE GO WITH AGREE AND CONTINUE > VERIFY NUMBER > ENJOY. ***ABOVE ALL METHODS ARE BEING CIRCULATED FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER CHAT BACKUP RESTORED.
^ FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY RUNNING SUCCESFULLY CHATS BACKUP AS ANDROID MEDIA SYSTEM. THEY ARE NOT TO DO ABOVE METHODS.
^ READ ALL LINES CAREFULLY IN ABOVE MENTIONED, THEN GO TO DO WHAT U WANT.
^ IF ANY DAMAGE OR LOSE OF YOUR CHATS, NEVER RESPONSIBLE : FOUADMODS TEAM.
>> HOPE YOU ARE ALL SUCCESSFULL IN THIS ISSUE.

for me when i place the msgstore.db (uncrytep) file in Whatsapp/databases it's recognized when clicking restore from whatsapp under the number asking page but it's not actyually restored
when i place it under GBWhatapps/yoBackup/com.gbwhatsapp/databases it's recognized in clicking restore red button at the first page shown after install and it's also recognized when going to FFMmods -> universal > backup restore.
Then my problem was that there were inconsistencies between the msgstore and the others littles .db files (chatsettings, wa.db, etc). So when i restored it says that my chat history was corrupted.
i tried many yobackups other dbs file the one that worked best was the one the most next to the time the backup as made to have the msgstore in the first place before merging process.
With that yobackup i restore in the app, it said to me that the history had an error, asked to restaure or never be able to do it again.
You have to refuse unless it's gonna take an old backup (present in /data i think)
Then it showed me an empty chat history in the main page. At that point i asked for a new backup in ffmmods universal.
I went into that new backup and i place my merged msgstore.db (there were none because it has no chat history). Then i went back into the app and restore this new backup with the msgstore and i worked
So to sump up this solution: place you new msgstore in the yoBackup that is less different than it internally, restore in the app settings universal, don't leave settings when it finishes and the notification says history is broken, ask for a backup again, move your new msgstore in this just generated backup and order a restore again. smile and thank Jesus.

So to sump up this solution: place you new msgstore in the yoBackup that is less different than it internally, restore in the app settings universal, don't leave settings when it finishes and the notification says history is broken, ask for a backup again, move your new msgstore in this just generated backup and order a restore again. smile and thank Jesus.

i know its a year old msg, but can you say how do you merged the msgstore.db
i try with this : https://github.com/SenCodeMaker/whatsapp-database-merger
but i ever get sql error, and in whatsapp viewer i see many entrys without names or number and year is ever 1970
i use gbwhatsapp+ from sammods and have 2 different acc with different numbers and i will merge msgstore.db from both acc, or i can all chats restore and then backup and maybe this use :

the problem is that it depends on your data. I used the code you're referring too. It still need improvement because when an sql error happen you can end up with corrupt data. It's decribed on the github either someone can continue the work on it to prevent sql key collisions or someday I'll have time for that. but I can share that after using the database I generate I ended up abandoning it after some months because gbwhatsap hadd an update that wasn't accepting a database with an error into it

I have a 'Redmi Note 9 Pro max' phone. WhatsApp is fully functional, with a chat history of the last 5 years. I got a new Samsung S22 5g phone, and I want to move all my data to that phone. When I checked the WhatsApp chat backup, I saw that the last backup happened on February 7th to my Google Drive. I clicked 'Backup' button to manually take the backup. I got the error message 'Unable to back up messages' after 30 seconds. I tried rebooting the phone several times, changing networks, checking the permissions, etc., but I still got the same message. I verified the backup in my Google Drive, and I saw the backup happened last February 7. My database folder was empty since I cleared the msgstore.db files as part of saving storage space, which I used to do periodically since I know that WhatsApp will create daily local backups in that folder. I noticed that WhatsApp even stopped creating local backups daily, as it is supposed to.
After several attempts to create a new backup, I finally decided to restore the February 7 backup available in my Google Drive to my new phone. I added the Google Drive account to my new phone and installed WhatsApp there. Whatsapp correctly detected the backup in my Google account and began restoring the messages; however, at the end of the restore, it threw an error message saying "unable to restore your chats from this backup," and after that message, Whatsapp displayed a list of other Google accounts to check for other old backups, which I did not have. I skipped the restore and saw that it did not have any chat history. I immediately closed and uninstalled WhatsApp on the new phone, switched back to my old phone, verified the number again, and thankfully, I was able to keep WhatsApp on my old phone without losing any data.
Now all my applications have been migrated to my new phone, except WhatsApp. Ultimately, I see that the existing available backup is corrupted, and I don't have any other local backup files either. I took a copy of the msgstore.db.crypt14 file from the new phone while the restore happened from Google Drive. Keeping in mind that my WhatsApp is fully functional on my old phone, I would like to get help with any of the below solutions to migrate my WhatsApp data.
Fix the 'unable to backup messages' issue for creating a new backup to Google Drive or at least a local backup. As mentioned, WhatsApp stopped creating local offline backups.
Recover any of the recent msgstore.db.crypt14 files that I deleted to create free space.
Fix the corrupted crypt14 file, which I have taken a copy of.
Other than the built-in backup and restore method, is there another way to migrate WhatsApp?
Same problem here!
I tried a lot of things and eventually I was successful to some degree.
Whatsapp restore from local backup : Working method April 2022
Hello everyone, This troubleshooting guide is related to the situation where you have a backed up .crypt14 fle (data base file) for Whatsapp and are unable to restore the local backup for Whatsapp using the .crypt14 file and you have no back up...
forum.xda-developers.com
These steps worked for me to force upload a .crypt14 backup file to Google Drive. I was able to restore the messages. I had to kill Whatsapp though because the restore process got stuck.
But the messages seem to be all back.
Another problem appeared though. I am unable to create new Backups due to an error.
I am now using Fouad Whatsapp Mod because it has its own backup and restore function which works.
My phone is not rooted so I extracted the Whatsapp key and unencrypted database with WhatsApp Key/Database Extractor.
I have installed the Android Emulator Nox Player, activated Root und installed the Foud Mod. I was able to replace the msgstore.db in /data/data/com.whatsapp/databases/ with my unencrypted backup as descirbed here.
Then I was able to backup everything and copy the backup back to my phone and restore it there whith the Fouad Whatsapp Mod
The backup is located unter Documents/FMBackups/com.whasapp.zip
Thanks also to this post which helped me a lot.
I hope you'll be succesful, too!

Hi.
I also have the same problem, and i was hoping you or someone else could help me. Whatsapp got stuck on restoring the backup, so i had to kill it mid restore. The messages are back but now it can't create another backup.
My question is: how do I transfer my messages to Fouad Whatsapp Mod if I can't back them up? Both local and gDrive backups fail. It seems like it doesn't even create the .crypt14 file. Any tips? Thanks in advance
Hi,
I would suggest that you backup your messages with WhatsApp Key/Database Extractor. You can additionally copy your whole Whatsapp folder to your computer to have also a backup of your media.
Here you have a tutorial on how to install Fouad Mod keeping your messages.
Good luck!
Hi @Canny2010,

Keep showing 'unable to backup messages' issue for creating a new backup to Google Drive or local backup. WhatsApp stopped creating local offline backups, no files in folder databases.
Thanks

Which version is installed?
latest 2.23.7.80
That's also my installed version but I haven't any problems with it. My suggestions:
- try a higher version or beta
You searched for whatsapp - APKMirror
You searched for whatsapp - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
- rename the Whatsapp folder in your internal storage (/internal storage/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/) to force the app to create a new one (maybe there is sth messed up with the path/permissions?)
- in case there is still a valid backup on Drive I would also try an older version (s. apkmirror.com)
- rename the Whatsapp folder in your internal storage (/internal storage/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/) to force the app to create a new one (maybe there is sth messed up with the path/permissions?)
> above approach would caused me lost all the data?

You should rename it and not delete it. The folder is still there but WhatsApp won't find it. If it works just copy the files from the old to the new created folder.
Tried, same. Any tools can recommend? Pay version also OK.
I have the same problem. did you find a solution? Thank you
ps: without using root
