[Q] Flashing evolution 7.2 over 6.8 - HTC Sensation

Hi,
(sorry just realised I put 6.8 when it should be 6.7)
I have been searching for the answer to my question but haven't found a definative answer, I also checked in the revolution hd 7.2 thread but it's so huge now it's impossible to go through all the threads...
Anyway my question is: can I flash revolution 7.2 over my revolution 6.7 without any other preparation? I don't have to use superwipe or anything? I read in the Revolution thread that I could but then I have read in other threads that it is best to wipe first.
I'd just like to be sure before flashing. I am configured as per the 6.7 (as I did that about 8 months ago) so I just want to update the ROM to 7.2.
I'd appreciate some direction.
Thanks!

Sorry but you'll have to wipe before flashing 7.2 because the two versions have different bases...

Hang on, I'm confused. What do you mean they are different bases? Aren't they the same base...after all it is just a newer version of the same ROM and the firmware is the same 3.33.x?
Can you explain by what you mean about different bases?

. 153 vs .154

Well, looks like i was wrong... i just checked in the ARHD thread, and wiping data is not mandatory but is recommended

For me, super wiping and installing fresh ROM works for me. Most of my apps are on the cloud so I just have to resync. I had too many random issues from not wiping.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to upgrade this weekend.

The upgrade went well! Now there is a new version!!

Thanks i took this one too but this time i also set Android revolution HD on my phone. Right now, don't know what to choose beetwen insertcoin rom and android revolution rom. Maybe i'm going to stay on android revolution.
The link doesn't work anymore
Is there a other link?
I just rooted my desire HD and want to flash the Android Revolution HD™ 6.1.2 rom.
Leedroid had a full wipe file on his ROM Page too. Been using that for a long time and no problems at all.

+1 for InsertCoin, love this guys roms, good battery life and support from the dev.
Mike1986s super wipe script is the best. Use it before I flash any ROMs.

[Q] Revolution HD 3.6.1 - Sense 3.5 Vs 3.0

I flashed Revolution HD 3.6.1 yesterday and on the information screen on my phone it says it's running sense 3.0. The main page of the Revolution HD ROM says it's running Sense 3.5. Anybody else have this problem?
flashed the wrong one. this one is the xe beats edition. the one you need is 4.1.0, soon to be 4.1.1. I did the same thing lol
Me too !! i was actually going to ask about it!! lol
well then did u find the 4.1.0 ???
Post #3 in the ARHD thread
Its a little confusing IMO because there are actually 2 ROMs in the same thread, plus a customization script.
Post #1 is for "Android Revolution HD™ 3.6.1 XE" which has Sense 3.0
Post #2 is for "Android Revolution HD™ No-Sense" which is a script to run to remove elements of the Sense software. This post also has the add-ons and mods for the other two ROMs.
Post #3 is for "Android Revolution HD™ 4.1.0" which has Sense 3.5
FYI, you could always hold off for now too. The ARHD 3.6.1 is due for the update to 3.6.2, and the ARHD 4.1.1 is due for the update to 4.1.2 very soon. The release date is listed as today in the change logs for both ROMs in posts 1 & 3, so hopefully by the end of the night the newest and greatest will be up.

Ah, that is a little confusing. So it's either Revolution HD 3.6.2 as of today, or it's 4.1.1? Which do you guys prefer? I've really like the 3.6.X line.

I'm not sure whether I've got you right, but the 3.6.x line are based on Sense 3.0, whereas the 4.1.x line is based upon Sense 3.5. Personally I would recommend the 3.6.x line, which seems to be more mature, at least for me. I've experienced some "Force close" problems with the 4.1.x line, although it could be my fault.
i like the 4.1.x but have one issue some of the apps i had in 3.x.x won't work it will tell my my device is not compatible

well Best rule of thumb i guess would be to flash the latest version. you can see my signature for what im using. im on tmobile sensation as well.
But honestly roms are like getting a new car. find the one thats best for your a** on a long drive. so no one can really tell you which one is best for you. just give it a go.

Does the signal got better when u use the latest arhd? I'm still on stock Rom but already s off and rooted but signal is not that great.

I've tried at least the last 10 versions of ARHD downclocked to 1.2, and the latest is the best. Both had the previous radio and the recommended, both worked fine for me, signal, voice quality, up/download speed are almost the same.
ARHD consumes very little power when screen off, but relatively more (compared to stock roms) when awake and using cpu/gpu intensive applications. For office use, you can get two days of battery life with no additional tricks (push exchange + HSDPA on)
Stability: almost zero fc-s, no lags, feels like a well optimized factory rom
From Sense roms, this is the best you can get.

Hi,
If you look in his signature,it says ARHD 3.6.2 XE,which is the version using base 2.3.4 and Sense 3.0
The alternative one is version 4.1.3. which uses base 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5
If you check ARHD [OP] 3.6.2 is available in post 1,and 4.1.3 is in post 3

Hi,
Changing ROMS has no affect on the radio.
There is no need to change the radio to an earlier version, unless you are having serious problems with the one you have installed.

As far a problems before changing the radio, the radio is for 3g-4g connection, cell service or both?

[Q] Sensation XE rooted & total memory is 563MB instead of 768MB?

Hi, this is my first android phone (Sensation XE) & I'm new with this rooting the phone thingy. I recently rooted my phone (S-OFF, Install ClockWork Recovery, permanently Root & obtain SuperCID) successfully. But haven't decided on which custom ROM to use.
Then I discovered that the total memory on my device is 563MB instead of 768MB.
Is this normal?

[Q] What's ROM is better for you?

Good evening
I just read the new ViperSs 1.0 ROM and it looks awesome! I have ARHD 6.6.7 with faux kernel and HQ camera MOD, and I want to change to something new, maybe Sense 4.0 based on news HTC's or non-Sense ROM (Cyanogenmod or MIUI).
I like CyanogenMod, but there is no stable version yet.
MIUI has a spanish stable version based on v2.4.27.
ViperSs ROM have only one bug: HDMI out doesn't work, but it isn't a problem for me. ARHD and ViperSs are very similar in features, but ViperSs use bricked kernel. I didn't use it before, but it seems very good.
Is there another ROM with new features? What ROM you recommend me?
Thank you in advance!
I'm downloading ViperSs now at the moment ARHD 6.6.4 and I haven't used any other Rom in my Sensation, so is the moment to try another one

I think so. ARHD is a very stable ROM, but I want something new and I want it now! xD I'm waiting for your first impression of ViperSs =)
It all comes down to your personal

Obligatory mention of MIUI. Now that certain websites are building for the Sensation from source, AOSP and Sense based, you get some serious performance and some really great software.
But that's only if you want to let go of Sense.

i agree its just to hard to let go of the htc camera and a couple widgets that cannot be matched on any other rom.
i prefer NonSense roms, caus i dont like sense, and rom is much smoother without it...
i like Asop but for me, battery life is not as good as on sense based roms...
just moved to viperss, after using arhd such a long time and i believe sense 4 is a little faster in applications however scrolling is very slow on all sense 4 roms, i tried elegancia, ordroid, insertcoin evolution and at the end viperss all have scrolling problem, maybe not a problem but i got used to scroll fast
Trying out viper now. So far amazing battery life and the viper tweaks are cool!

Thank you to all. I think I'll try ViperSs ROM and if I don't like it, I'll try non-Sense ROM like MIUI.
CM not is a stable ROM, that's true. My girlfriend has CM 7.2 and she has some important bugs...
I'll post my experiences with new ROMs! ;-)

tray ORDROID 9.0 very stable and sense 4.0. bricked is one of the best kernels I have tested... so i recommend that combination... good luck!
I think you will be happy with viper.i know the battery life seemed better than ordroid . I'm actually quite shocked at how great the battery is on viper. Its always been a issue in the past now its great. Also haven't tried yet but wifi tethering is supposed to work. Only bug reported so far is HDMI output. I'm running now will try out tethering soon.

One question, What wipe I have to use to flash viperS ROM? SuperWipe of ARHD or wipe all data of 4EXT Recovery?
I suppose that the method is:
.- Backup old ROM, apps and SMS/contacts (personal information in general).
.- Reboot into recovery
.- Wipe all.
.- Install from SD card
END =)

The ViperS installer makes a full wipe at the beginning I think...let's see, when I changed from ARHD to ViperS I flashed "ARHD Super Wipe", then wipe all from 4ext, and then flashed the new rom btw I remember that those wipes deleted my games data (like N.O.V.A. or Asphalt downloaded data)...the "Android" folder one.
