Higher class, better cards. There are the following classes: 2; 4; 6; 8 and 10. 4th and 6th classes are quite sufficient.
I have 10th class of 16 GB.

NO my frend.. Class does matters but if you are taking 16Gb you can take class 10, that is very good(best)
brand is nothing but only for reliability.. transcend is any tym better than kingston n all.

thanks every one for participating in this thread to share about sd cards , but did any1 has problems with his sd card ?? like wont formating , or convert files to unknown formats , i had these problems with a chinese flash disk
i use my galaxy fit to record videos and capture photos , and i wont loose any data cause its precious for me
sd card class
mean of Class of sd card is about speed that sd card have.
class 2 = 2 mb/s
class 4 = 4 mb/s
class 6 = 6 mb/s
class 10 = 10 mb/s
the best is class 10.
the phone can damage the sd card if it cannot reach the minimum speed of sd card
i put a sd card class4 in an old samsung mobile , after only one day the sd card damaged , the sd card was adata so its not fault of manufacturer
I`m sorry if i`m wrong but isn`t MicroSD limited to 4 GB and MicroSD HC is better and higher capacity but incompatible with Samsung Fit ?!
transcend 8GB Class 4.
if you have problem with your SdCard you can try "check disk " tool in windows! right-click on your drive in MyComputer and in tools tab hit check now. or open cmd (command prompt) and simply type :
Code:
chkdsk f:
"f:" is your SdCard change it to your SdCard Letter. :fingers-crossed:
[info]
Currently, the SD Association recognizes two Speed Classes: “Speed Class” and “UHS Speed Class.”
==========================================================================
Speed Class applies to SD, miniSD, microSD, SDHC, miniSDHC, microSDHC, SDXC and microSDXC cards. These are denoted by a class number within a C-shaped logo. The higher the class number, the faster the card. In order to bear the SD Speed Class logo, card manufacturers have to adhere to the minimum standards set out by the SD Association.
=============================================================================
Class Minimum performance
Class 2 2 MB/sec
Class 4 4 MB/sec
Class 6 6 MB/sec
Class 10 10 MB/sec
Class 2 is the slowest SD card speed. Class 2 has a write speed of about 2 Mb/s and is suitable for standard definition video recording. Class 4 and Class 6 have write speeds of about 4 Mb/s and 6 Mb/s, respectively, and can be used for HD video recording. Class 10 SD cards have write speeds of 10 Mb/s and up and are designed to operate under the high speed bus interface. Beyond Class 10 is the UHS Speed Class. UHS stands for ultra high speed and includes cards that have speeds up to 312 Mb/s. The UHS speed class logo includes a number contained within a U-shape.
Generally, if you want to shoot HD video or if you plan on taking a lot of high-resolution photos in quick succession (or use a digital SLR's RAW image file format), buy a Class 10 card. If you're planning to just take snapshots or occasionally show videos, Class 4 or Class 6 will do.
If u like detail Info pls read.......

I bought a SanDisk Micro-SDHC Ultra Android 8GB, Class 10 and i can say that make a hole lot difference in speed and performance then my old 2GB class 4 card. Although the phone limits the card perfomance ( i tested on S2 vs Fit) but still is an improvement

The classes they are given are the minimum they must be able to do.
If a card maker makes 10 batches of cards and they all turn out to be capable of class 6 speeds however they only have orders for 5 batches of class 6 and 5 batches of class 2, what do you think they'll do? Label half as class 6 and half as class 2.

As has been said - the class of the SD card just guarantees you a minimum speed - in fact, a minimum sequential write speed.
I get the following:
16gb Sandisk Class 2
Sequential Read : 20.050 MB/s
Sequential Write : 7.415 MB/s
8gb Transcend Class 6
Sequential Read : 19.938 MB/s
Sequential Write : 15.020 MB/s
(Tested using CrystalDiskMark 3.0 with both cards in an adaptor directly connected to the PC via USB)
Both cards well exceed the minimum 6MB/s for Class 6, with the Class 6 card coming out as twice as fast as the Class 2.
If you're using a high-res digital camera, you will notice that write speed difference as it will decrease the amount of time it takes to save a picture and thus how quickly you can take the next. However, in general use on a phone you just will not notice this, making the Sandisk Class 2 card a much better buy.

Dave
Guys
Which brand is perfect with no errors for the p500,
Is transcend Ok, without any reported problems???
cuz with transcend i have 2 options:
1) 8GB class 10
flipkart.com/mobiles/memory-cards/itmczcrqjfnkzhmr?pid=acccz4ffp9czdseh[/url]
2) 16GB class 4
flipkart.com/mobiles/memory-cards/itmczcrqpdjzzqy7?pid=acccz4ffdsujg99j
which shall i go for ?
That's actually a nice price for the class 10, but 8 is too little if you listen a bit of music. I just moved to a 16 Class 4, I'd say get a Class 6 is you can find one.
I have that Transcend 8GB and no error in past three months. It takes some time to load apps after boot (I have lots of apps on SD natively without a2sd scripts), but as it's about 5 to 10 seconds it's okay.

I went ahead an ordered the 8GB.. sadly the 16GB class 10 is out of stock here
i use 8gb class 6, transcend
My advice for memory is never buy off Ebay, I got mostly defective memory chips ( found out from testing with h2testw ) before I stopped wasting my time and got a 32GB class 10 Lexar. It's a great card and I've had good results from the Lexar brand. (Sandisk is also an excellent choice)
Transcend class 6

I picked up two kingston 8gb class 10 cards off of kingstons website for $18.99 each (on sale) with free shipping about two weeks ago. They have been just fine.
Works just fine with an Apacer class 4 8gb. It was cheaper than Transcend or Kingston.

Same, just using a class 4 Sandisk 8gb card that came with my phone when I bought it off the store. No problem with it (don't find it slow) but my music collection IS starting to fill up the space pretty quick (I blame FLAC) so I'm thinking of a new card.
What does everyone here think? Does an increased in class level make the phone any quicker?
For memory cards and flash drives I never buy anything other than PNY.
adata for me.

class 10 all the way, but couldn't afford anything over 4gb
I get Samsung 8Gb class 10 for 8,90€
Who wants one of this???
I've used a Transcend 4GB/Class6 and a Kingston 8GB/Class10 on my Optimus One.
Here are some minor problems i encountered with the Kingston Class10
1. Erratic behavior whenever I create an EXT partition (for Ungaze Data2SD or DT-App2SD purposes)
2. Using Antutu to benchmark the speed, it seems Optimus One tops at speed of 8MBps or Class8. Please confirm if you have a Class10 SD...
i was going to make a topic about this, but this seems like the appropriate thead to post...
i bought a microsd 4 gig class 4 from the source (nexxtech brand) and was screwing up my phone left right and center. i was originally using a 1 gig sd (not sdhc) and works better.

I'm using Transcend 8 Gb Class 10 card. SD Card write speed is 10 MB/s & read speed is 17 MB/s as per Antutu.
I read somewhere that LG P-500 is not compatible with class 4 & 6 cards for more than 4GB you need class 10 only. It seems to be very weird.

thats not true!! i hv an 8gb on my optimus one and it works perfectly!! =P
I have used the 8GB and the 16GB version and I must say I am impressed. Write speeds are as they stated in the specs 14-17 MB/s depending on the type of file you are transferring. These are impressive numbers for a Class 10 even. Most makers just make sure it hits 10 MB/s and that is it.

These come in handy if you are using the Camera Mod with higher bitrates and more data per second to save...
I can upload some screenshots of the speed test results if someone wants to see...
I already bought the 16gb version of this card and i must say, it is really fast. i copied the files from my "old" card to the adata with around 16 mb/s. sd tools says the old card can write 5 mb/s, the new one writes 12mb/s, its absolutely amazing
So tempting, looking at reviews on Newegg and then theres this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-SD-SD...533036?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a669aef6c

what's the max class my dhd can handle? i've read that when you use a class 10 sd card in a phone that can only handle class 6, your speed will be brought back to class2, because the phone can't handle it??
Is that true? i don't know whether it's worth spending a couple more euro's for a class 10 16gb, instead of class 6 16gb. I don't mind spending some extra euro's (especially when it improves) but i do mind when it slows down the phone...

DHD supports class 10 cards. I personally have a 16gig class 10.
From what I have seen there's only a marginal difference between 6 and 10.
If you already have a class 6 there's no need to go for a 10.
Otherwise go for the class 10. You'll be amazed at the speed.
i wouldn't recommend buying a class 2, they may be cheap but the performance sucks

Me too - I also have 16gb class 10.
I'd say a class 6 is maximum you need though for a bit better results via HD video recording etc....I just got a class 10 just because it was going cheap on play.com and has awesome reviews.

I also have a class 10 32gb limitation card in mine, it tops out around 12mb p/s when writing to and can read around 25mbps, i get much better speeds though when using a card reader, but those speeds are fine for my use...

Buy a 32G Class 10. It's not expensive now. It is the half the price compared to 1 year ago.

I know its also good but I made this thread for the class 10 SD Cards
Class 6 SD cards are known to be optimum and bug free. Even though class 10 sd cards are faster, you won't probably be able to use the extra write speed on a phone. That kind of thing is good for a zero shutter lag camera. But if you insist on a class 10, san disk and transcend ate the way to go as san disk is quality ,plus they own the sd card patent and transcend is value for money. Plus, you can probably get a transcend from any local mallu run shop
