Facebook Home: Here is the Patched APK'S to Work on all Devices. . - Asus Transformer TF700

As everyone knows, when Facebook Home came out, it works on only select phones. Well now there's a Patch APK for Home, Facebook, and messenger. All 3 have to be installed. Login to Facebook then turn on Facebook home. Tell me what you think of the app?
For me personally, I would enjoy it more if you can switch UI's while in use.
Here are the links for the APK's

Facebook Messenger: http://db.tt/mbCdSJuF
Enjoy!

I've tried Facebook Home on my TF700 and I admit to say I don't like it. The landscape changes to Portrait mode and nothing is really exciting about it. I don't exactly like looking at all the pictures my friends post on Facebook, and some of them are just gross depending on whose picture it is my friends posted.
Anyhow, Facebook Home is nothing but a picture scouter for people to just look through and Like things. It's pretty much almost like Instagram. Plus, the advertisements Facebook put forth on TV...they're not quite exactly bright ideas for the scenarios. One of them (the family dinner table in particular) received a lot of negativity about how it encourages disrespect and ill-mannered actions on the family dinner table.

As if it didn't come with enough bloatware already.....

microsoft office (specifically word) app

I am looking to use the infinity for a bit of writing on the go. What is the best app for this? Looking for something as close to MS word as possible, preferably with grammar and spelling check (as in underlining misspelled words) this is useful since getting used to this keyboard will take a few days. Also something that can keep up with my typing speed.
Thanks in advance.

Quickoffice pro/hd is pretty good since it does have spell check and a lot of other features. If you want office 2010 and are willing to go through a little hassle when saving files onlive desktop is a virtual desktop

Its only laggy if youre not on balanced mode. Try out the free version. As for on live, i only sort of tested it not really used it as a permanent solution. If you can live without spell check try the free version of docs to go

I couldn't find a free trial in the market. Docs to go is 15 dollars if I want to edit, and i don't want to commit to spending money till I make sure it meets my needs.

kingsoft has the a lot of tools, but it way tooo laggy even on high performance mode. thanks for the suggestion though.

I also tried Writer. Which is good in terms of speed, and I am fine with sacrificing the rest, but it has a 9000 character limit. Which is lame... Basically i need something that keeps up with my speed of typing -I am willing to sacrifice the spell/grammar check- has no limit to how long something can be, and can read/write to .doc/.docx So I don't have to lug a laptop around with me.

IMVHO KingSoft and OfficeSuite Pro are the best and the closest to M$ Office.
I use "documents to go", it can sync docs with Google drive too.

Does anyone know a app for docx where it's possible to rotate the insert pictures?
Quickoffice HD is a best office suite IMO. There is a reason Google bought them. If you don't need a bunch of features there is always the Google drive app.
You can do it in Kingsoft Office, which - unlike, IMO far worse, QuickOffice - comes for free.
We're supposed to get real MS Office this fall (despite denials ), so you might hold off making a purchase till then, and just live with polaris or another free option.
http://www.pcworld.com/businesscent...for_ios_and_android_may_arrive_this_fall.html
I haven't experienced lag in quickoffice hd since the newest firmware came out, FWIW. Even on the slowest infinity profile.
So if you want a MS Word-ish app, with spell-check (inherent to the Infinity btw), why not Google Drive?
Works online and offline, does spell check, has lots of other features, is free and I haven't experienced lag.
BTW, performance mode makes your tablet laggy-er. Performance simply means everything looks sharper, it doesn't mean the tablet works better. Balanced mode may yield better performance results at the cost of image sharpness and detail.

So I downloaded google drive, and here is what I have noticed so far.
1. it cannot read/write docx (keeps asking me to open it in another program)
2. I know the spellcheck is inherent to infinity but it does not appear to work in google drive, or at least I couldn't find a way to do it.
Thanks for the tip on the performance an lag issue.

hmmm sorry about the docx incompatibility. i was not aware of that.
as for the spell-checker, make sure it's enabled in your android settings under "language and input"

Google Plus Lag

Has anyone had noticeable lag while using G+, and if so were you able to correct it. I'm on. 26 and rooted, also tried using performance mode.
I didn't experience this type of lag when using the prime.
Edit: even with a clean wipe it still lags.

No lag for me. works fine.
Had the same lag - really annoying: when swiping, each time an image is loaded it stuttered a lot ...
Because a lot of apps just did not work smooth I swapped my Asus for an iPad3 and G+ was working very smooth on there ...
But I could not stand the closed Apple eco system, so I also returned the iPad3.
Now I don't have any tablet anyore ... just waiting for a better Android Tablet.
My question is: Did I have a bad Infinity and do other Infnity uses have a smooth experience with G+?
So should I just try with an other Infinity?
I saw a review on youtube mentioning the lag for stuff like this and the guy said it had to do with the contention between the android firmware and the tegra drivers. They dont like playing well together in those situations. But the hope is that JB (when we get it) will be much better integrated.

Floating Apps List

I just bought my infinity not long ago and I have been exploring here. I read some threads mentioning floating app and I am really interested in this. So far I come with:
1. OverSkreen - Browser
2. LilyPad - IM Client
3. Super Video - Player
4. Stick it - Player
5. AirTerm - Terminal
7. Floating Notes - Taking Notes
8. Floating Widget - Make Widgets Floating
9. hovernote - Taking Notes
Would you mind sharing your collection so that we have the best set of floating apps in our infinity? :highfive:
Thank you for everyone who contribute.
Hovernote - for taking notes

HoverNote
Floating Notes (Note Taking)
Floating Widgets (Makes Homescreen Widgets Float)
While not a floating app in itself, SwipePad (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android) is a nice utility for opening these apps within another app. I don't have my Infinity yet, but this works quite well on my phone

Yes, that would be nice to have. I'm surprised that one hasn't been developed yet.
Do that many people really take handwritten notes on their tablets?? Especially with the Transformer series with the keyboard dock - typed in notes just seem so much more practical as they are searchable, etc.... I know that I, for one, can type a lot faster than I could write, especially on a tablet....

I use my Transformer extensively for handwritten notes. As an engineering student it's not practical taking notes with the keyboard at all due to a lot of visuals and equations. And get a good note taking app such as LectureNotes (which I've found to be the best) and there are options to add keywords for each of your pages and you can easily index ("search") the notebook for the content you need.
I use to go through ~50 sheets of paper that would ultimately end up in the recycle bin since it was all just scratch work, but now I do it all on my transformer.

I'm using AirCalc and it's pretty nice. There is also DarkCalc (I can't remember if this is on the play store or just posted here on xda by the dev) which has the normal calculator interface (takes whole screen) but has a button which pops it out to a floating window. They are both pretty much identical in functionality.
You should update the links in the first post. Floating Notes' link is dead. There is also an free version now.

TF700T Home Screen Pages

Is there any way to remove blank or unused pages on the home screen? I organize my apps into named folders so I've no use for the other four pages pages.

Not in the stock launcher. Some other launchers (like: GO Launcher HD (EX is only for phones, HD is for tablets)) will allow you to control this. Others here have used Apex and Nova Launcher, but I can't speak to them. I do know that there were stability issues with some of those.

From my consulting days "It Depends."
The launcher itself shouldn't. It replaces the default launcher (the first time you press 'home' you can select the default - go to settings ->apps -> the launcher -> clear defaults (or uninstall the launcher) to get back to the stock one). If you use GO there are a lot of cool ad-ons and widgets that will consume battery but you have to download them separately and add them manually. Since you're trying to keep one screen I'll assume that you wont be adding a ton of widgets.
The only difference in system is that some launchers may take more memory than others and if there is battery drain it's trivial (like checking daily for an update instead of weekly or something not enough to notice by any means).
Note that when you change your launcher you will have to re-setup your home screen. If you revert to the stock launcher your old setup will still be there, so it's not lost. Each launcher just saves their own configuration.
Good luck!

[Q] Facebook Timeline Does Not Display...

Greetings all.
I searched and was unable to find anything on whether or not the Facebook Timeline shows for people's profiles using the Facebook Android app. I am running the same app on my Samsung Galaxy S2 and it displays just fine on my 4.5 inch screen. On my Asus Infinity, however, all I see is the stripped down profile page without the timeline pics and info.
Is there a way to get the timeline to display without using a web browser? All suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!
Facebook timeline has not been working on android tablets for... quite some time now. On my previous Prime, it never worked, and when I upgraded to the Infinity, it also didn't work. I just think they haven't put any consideration into making it compatible with tablets. I'm not sure about other tablets but all the ASUS tablets I've tried (including TF101 and TF300) don't have a timeline as well.
What's worse is it only shows the stripped down wall, doesn't let you view Albums or info, etc.
probably going to have to wait till they launch the native app since they ****ed up w/ html5 so bad, otherwise use an app like friendcaster or google+

Thanks for the info. I am amazed they (Facebook) can't put together a decent Android app for tablets. It is strange why it would work on my Samsung GS2 with Android using the same app from Facebook...
Oh well. I guess I'll try the app store. Cheers.
