Google Plus Lag - Asus Transformer TF700

Has anyone had noticeable lag while using G+, and if so were you able to correct it. I'm on. 26 and rooted, also tried using performance mode.
I didn't experience this type of lag when using the prime.
Edit: even with a clean wipe it still lags.

No lag for me. works fine.

Had the same lag - really annoying: when swiping, each time an image is loaded it stuttered a lot ...
Because a lot of apps just did not work smooth I swapped my Asus for an iPad3 and G+ was working very smooth on there ...
But I could not stand the closed Apple eco system, so I also returned the iPad3.
Now I don't have any tablet anyore ... just waiting for a better Android Tablet.
My question is: Did I have a bad Infinity and do other Infnity uses have a smooth experience with G+?
So should I just try with an other Infinity?

I saw a review on youtube mentioning the lag for stuff like this and the guy said it had to do with the contention between the android firmware and the tegra drivers. They dont like playing well together in those situations. But the hope is that JB (when we get it) will be much better integrated.

Yeah, I hope JB will fix this, and plan on unlocking and running cm 10 when the devs get a running build to see if it is truly 'buttery smooth'.

Is my tablet supposed to be this slow?

Typing on web browsers (default one and chrome) are extremely slow, especially typing Korean (I actually type in Korean a lot). I would type a few words and they will show up on the screen some time later. English is not as bad but still feels extremely laggy.
In addition, general web browsing feels really laggy. Pan and zoom do not feel smooth at all and do not feel like it has a very fast processor, which it does.
Maybe I'm spoiled with iPhone because smoothness is what it excels at, but I still feel like the letters should at least appear on the screen as I type them.
I'm not sure if this is normal.

I'm on the .26 update and still experience general lag that my wife's iPad doesn't have. I'm an android guy for the long haul for reasons other than speed and responsiveness, but it would be nice if these problems could be fixed. Maybe we just need some butter! Jelly Bean butter! All of my ICS experience points to the OS being the source of the lag.

Dolphin has some serious privacy issues. Stallman would be livid. Like, it makes the chrome Botnet look like GNU in comparison.
I got b& at /a/ for sh!tposting ;_;
I've had the slow down in typing that you've mentioned. For me it only happens when I'm filling online forms or in a web game chat box. This issue may not be the tablet but whatever the web site is using for code. Maybe its a flash issue.
Apple has designed their hardware to work perfectly with the ios software. Android doesn't have that luxury as every OEM slaps together a product and hope there are no issues. We have apps for everything like ios but a **** ton of OEM products and os versions that can affect performance from device to device. Are you using a different keyboard app that might have tweaks in the settings?

Is this really still an issue? I thought the privacy concerns had been resolved last November. Dolphin for Tablets is definitely the smoothest browser for me when scrolling large pages, even though its Sunspider marks don't come close to those of Chrome.

Depends on your keyboard as well. I use swiftkey and its predictive algorithms cause lag. When I use the default asus keyboard with my dock in place, lag disappears. Try some different keyboards.

This is a terrible misconception that the grass is greener on the other side when in fact it's not.
iPad users experience some of the same problem Android tablet users experience when it comes occasional slowness. Simply google searching your problems and filtering it to apple.com you will see that Android is not along on this issue.
The tablet with the best web browsing experience is the Blackberry Playbook and even I encounter some websites that want to slow everything down to a crawl. Luckily with Playbook the trouble site doesn't affect anything beyond the web browser which I can easily close out and relaunch.
I think issue centers around most websites being designed specifically for desktop browsers that operate of X86/x64 PCs that have had years of optimized coding and design to handle web browsing.
Just jump back to AMD K6 series and the Intel Pentium II and III to relive horrible web browsing performances.
ARM CPUs are still not there yet but the industry is moving in that direction and so this is something that I predict will go away as more sites get optimzed for tablets.

I didn't mean to imply that ios is better or I'm looking at greener grass there. I am fine with android and expect it not to function like a desktop. Like Google and the nexus line, the hardware is set up the way the original os company envisioned. Apple put together a great hardware product and is fantastic at creating a top notch user experience. I don't think anyone would deny the ipad has its faults/issues like android tablets. Maybe it is a misconception but its also wrong to expect ipad performance from a non ipad product.
I agree that its more of the website interaction and not the tablet itself. I use thumb keyboard but haven't tried the swift one.
I have had all three ipads as well as all three Transformers. In every case the Ipad out performed the Transformer in the web browsing area using the stock browser. My TF700T comes the close to my Ipad3 but its still not as fluid at my Ipad3 is for internet functioning. I would assume with the release of Jelly Bean for the TF700T that there would be an improvement in the web experience that would be similar to the Ipad3. I perfer a 'pc' experience with the tablet I utilize which is why I have stayed with Asus and the Transformer series. Looking at the entire package of functions my TF700T performes for me it meets my total expectations better than the Ipad3 that I currently own. They are both just tools that fit different peoples needs and are very different in their approach to those needs. I am particular to my TF700T but I am not blinded into thinking that at this time its the end all tablet. I would also quickly tell you that I am very much looking forward to seeing what my TF700T can do once Jelly Bean has been implimented.

Working Browser

I have reached the limit of my patience with Chrome on the Infinity, when it works, it is slow. It often crashes and I get frequent ANRs. Is there a browser that is 1) not slow and 2) stable?
Boat and Dolphin HD have been recommended numerous times on the forum and I concur they both work a treat and support Flash.
+1 for Boat - it's faster, more stable and supports Flash. I've been *very* impressed with it....

No, stock is the Android browser that was around before chrome.
I'd say either Dolphin or stock. Stock was horrible at first, but after the .26 update its actually not that bad at all.
I tried Chrome for over a week, but I just switched to Boat after reading this thread, so far seems to be a lot faster.
Dolphin! Tried Boat. Not for me. DOLPHIN has a beta out that they tout being faster. And it is!
I don't mind stock at all. Dolphin and Boat has privacy issues. I recommend ICS Browser+
Privacy issues have been rectified along time ago on dolphin. Just Google it.
There was some discussion from Gary Key awhile back (forget where but in TF201 section) that one of the early suspected problems with the Prime was individuals installing multiple browsers. I don't know if that ever panned out but if you find your performance degrading and have several that you tried out still hanging around, uninstalling the lightly used ones and reinstalling flash might help with performance issues while browsing.
Sync bookmarks
I'd like to move from Chrome as it's so slow but there is a key function that I would like to keep : sync my Chrome bookmarks (shared with my personal PC, my job computer and my iPhone). I don't remember that Boat or Dolphin have that.
I recommend boat as well. Switched from chrome.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
I am not sure I trust anything that guy says.
Also, I didn't install any browser before I started having problems.
Chrome on the Infinitiy, for me, is just flat broke. It also had problems on the Prime.
I think the problem is really Asus and not the browser.
I will try boat. I have tried dolphin on the prime, and it was no better than chrome either.
Anyone tried the new Firefox Update 15?

[LIST/REQ] Floating Android Apps

What was originally a request to find floating apps, turned into a list:
Browsers:
OverSkreen (Jelly Bean currently not supported, says in change notes it is work in progress. There are mixed results when sideloaded)
Floating Browser Flux
Video Players:
Stick it (Supports YouTube)
Super Video
DicePlayer
BSPlayer
Other:
hovernote - Notepad
LilyPad - Facebook, Google Talk, MSN messenger (other services like skype are said to be coming)
AirCalc - Calculator
AirTerm - Terminal
More information here
Any others?
sadly the browser is not comaptible with the tf700
someone tried to sideload it ?
I've used LilyPad HD and HoverNote. I use HoverNote primarily for taking notes while reading PDFs. LilyPad seems to drain battery a bit much so I don't leave it on as a service
I really miss Overskreen on my TF700 after upgrading to Jelly Bean!
I do, however, still use Air Term, Hover Note and Floating Calculator.... Eagerly awaiting a JB version of Overskreen!

Interesting - I sideloaded Overskreen and while it installed fine and *seemed* to work, I found that it kept locking up on my while trying to actually use it. I'd be curious to hear from others who have sideloaded it in Jelly Bean, along with their results... I would *love* to be able to use it, but being that even the developer says that it doesn't work properly with Jelly Bean, I'm a little skeptical that it actually works properly...

if you start overskreen, your Tf700 will just activate your lockscreen?

Sorry, what I mean was that after I start using Overskeen, the Overskeen app itself will just "freeze" - I can close it, but otherwise, it just sits there and does nothing. It happened multiple times in the 10 minutes that I tried to use it. Haven't had any issues with any other apps, so I suspect that it is a problem with Overskreen (especially since the author says that it's not ready for Jelly Bean). If you are able to use it without any issues, maybe I'll give it another shot later...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
No freezing at all. Its a bit laggy if you drag it across the screen.
But there is no problem using 2 or 3 "windows" at all.
BTW: Do anyone know a floating PDF Viewer app?
I had Overskreen installed before I updated to JB, Still works after, no locking up or lags. Though, I do notice it seems less responsive when I touch/click links.
there is also floatIRC for those who still stuck in the 90's like me
I brought Hover note a while back for University note taking and revision purposes and its great. It also works fine on both my JB nexus 7 and Galaxy s2, Check out my review

Better animation opening apps from recent!

So i notice that when you check "Disable hardware overlay" in developer options, that the animation while selecting apps from recent goes smooth as butter, but scrolling turns crappy. So would any developer figure out whats going on there.?

Between CleanROM 2.3 and Clemsyns OC kernel, this issue is now a non-issue - things are much smoother... If you haven't yet tried CleanROM/Clemsyn OC kernel, I can't recommend it enough! Forget about the Asus warranty and bring your device to life! After all, what good is a warranty on a device that is no fun to use?
You won't regret it (most of the time, at least!). Once you are sure that your device has no defects, just unlock it and be happy. If you are still worried about warranty coverage, see if you can still purchase a SquareTrade warranty - that will cover you. To be honest, I've heard nothing but horror stories about Asus warranty coverage anyway - in a lot of cases, the device seems to come back in worse shape that it was sent in!

In need of data2sd advice

Hi, I'm considering trying out data2sd since I'm quite fed up with lag on my infinity so I would like some advice, or rather just some confirmations.
Does data2sd fix lag in apps like chrome, which is unusable completely for me. In fact any browser is awful on infinity except the stock and yes I'm using browser2ram on CromiX.
I even experience lag sometimes when I click on a text box. It takes several seconds for SwiftKey to open, and sometimes even the text input is laggy. This applies to all apps I have installed.
Even Gmail can be laggy while selecting emails or switching tags. Absolutely frustrating experience.
Overall, how does data2sd feel for you and what difference have you noticed using it?
Btw, I'm planning on getting a SanDisk 32gb class 10 micro sd for this, so is the process for Cromi just selecting the kernel in the installer or do I have to flash the mount data2sd file before installing the Rom?
Thanks in advance guys

Sounds like you have got some issues there. You shouldn't be having that sort of lag on CROMi-X
Have you done a clean install to see what it is like before installing swiftkey. Last time I used it it had become quite laggy but that was ages ago. I use the google JB keyboard now which is now superior to swiftkey in all respects other than maybe the prediction engine.

Hi,
I must say I have these problems, too.
I even put my infinity on local e-bay like site to sell it as i am just frustrated and annoyed by it.
I have to admit I haven't done a clean install for some time now. I think since the first version.
So, it sounds like i will need to do a clean install once again.
But I am worried about one thing. I have done clean installs on every single ROM i have used on all my devices, and the story is always the same.
Yes, experiance is much better, but only for limited time. When i install like 50 apps and have all sorts of stuff going on - the tablet just can't cope with it. It is specially noticeable when the tablet is in sleep mode without WIFI or SYNC. When i wake it up, press wifi and sync - whooaaa, i can just leave it there for some time and forget about it. Than again, sometimes it is just normal. Until i open browser, that is.
Well, anyway, i just wanted to say, that after some time thing go bad again.
I will try clean install right now, to prove me wrong
Will report in a week .
