RSD is for flashing firmwares only.If you want to flash a custom ROM go for a custom recovery to flash it.
Download atrixbootstrapper from market and use that to flash MIUI.
However if you are new to all this i strongly suggest read around the forum first then read some more and then when you feel you know it just read a little more. It's for your own good, believe me.
A word of advice the link you gave me clearly says the ROM is for ME865 only so make sure you have the same model.

Find out CF root for your phone from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253 and root it per instructions on same thread.
Then go ahead and decide on what next ROM you want to install. GO to dev thread for that particular ROM and install by following ALL instructions on that thread. Search Q&A thread in general section for that particular ROM for any questions that you might have. Post question in that thread if you cannot find answers to your questions.

Unable to Root after upgrade to I9003JPKPM
Kies updated my firmware recently to I9003JPKPM and I lost my root access. Previously I was using amit bagaria's universal cf-root.
After the firmware was installed, i again tried to root the universal cf-root. Root was working. But I lost WIFI access. Wifi does not start anymore.
To fix this, I tried unrooting the phone from the menu after pressing Vol Up + Home + Power. It told phone was unrooted. But wifi was not working. I again went back to CWM menu to Root it back.
No matter what I do, now I am unable to get Root back. The menu shows I'm rooted.
But when I go and start a priviledged application, I get an error:
Sample error
Code:
CWM Manager needs SuperUser access to function! If you have SU installed, make sure CWM Manager is not blocked, then reboot and try again.
I tried flashing universal cf-root again but unable to get root access!

Now my phone is messed up by various trials of installing universal cf-root by amit. To return back to a stock kernel, is repartitioning required?
A noob question. Is repartitioning done using a latona pit file? I remember using one when I had switched from froyo to GB.

OK. I did a repartition using latona.pit file, then installed XXKPE, then installed XXLE4 on top of it. I used it for a day and also installed many apps. Now is it OK if i flash bam kernel on top of it? I had read somewhere that bam kernel should only be installed on a fresh stock ROM on its first reboot after flashing. Is it true? or do I have to repeat all the steps XXKPE -> XXLE4 -> bam kernel
i have no success at all some step by step to me? how can i cwm works perfect and install custom rom? im now on xxkpe

You can flash bam's kernel directly.
Edit: it usually is okay, and your data shouldn't be wiped either.

Sweet! I flashed the kernel! Altough the first boot after flash took some time and it rebooted automagically, no further issues observed till now
Now that I'm rooted, I would like to change the bootanimation to a custom one. Can I follow this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161354 The instructions are for XXKPE. Will it work on my XXLE4 + bck custom kernel?

A CWM backup will only work if you are currently on ICS. This will not work if you want to upgrade from GB. If you wish to upgrade from GB you MUST install this through factory recovery as the ICS update also has new kernel tweaks and such which aren't saved in a CWM backup.
You will most likely brick if you try to install CWM backup of ICS while on gingerbread.
Be careful here guys.

[Q] Flashing stock firmware via TWRP

I am currently using CM10 Rom with Marmite kernel 8.3+
Performane wise it is good, but battery has been a big problem for me, as the stock 4.1.1 sojuk was way good in battery performance..
My phone has TWRP recovery and I have the official stock .zip file for my phone (Nexus S M200)...
The question is that flashing firmware via recovery is recommended or not? Will i brick my phone or what? Will my phone work perfect after flashing stock firmware via twrp? I dont want to use the fastboot method pls...

Can you please get a link to the post, as I wasnt able to search it...
Though, I found the official stock rom in .zip format (100% confirmed)... should I use this ROM for flashing? Loosing recovery or root doesnt matter... i can get that back anytime...

Just flash it via TWRP if that's more convenient for you.

I quoted just one question and i answered straight. Besides, your phone won't work perfect if it's bricked lol.
So yea, that question and that answer is sufficient for you to calm down and JUST FLASH IT. :good:

[Q] revert back to stock- USB port damaged?

Hi guys,
my rooted 4.2.2 rom'd gs3 has a finicky usb port and will not charge. I need to return the phone for a warranty exchange, but is there a way I can do that when the usb port is damaged and is not recognized by the pc? thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated!
Have you tried mobile odin app.

1. Mobile odin, however I've personally never used it. There are probably guides out there somewhere how to return the phone to stock.
2. You may still be under samsung's warranty period, they don't care if your phone is rooted and will fix hardware problems. They will flash the most recent stock rom and firmware they have to your phone so you'd have to re root it.

I have not tried the mobile odin app (did not know it existed). I will try that and post back results in a little while. Thanks everyone
Its pretty straight forward. It does cost you a few bucks but its always nice to have and support a great developer.

I downloaded the 1.2gb file which was supposed to flash the stock ROM and lock the boot loader, but all it did was wipe my current ROM? Can anyone help me understand what I did wrong? Thanks again! I used the mobile Odin app and it all seemed OK ...md5 sum was good too

What exactly do you mean wiped your current rom. Does it boot, you get anything to happen or just blank.

What guide did you follow? You could've done a number of things wrong, try to boot into recovery or download mode to see if you're hardbricked.

Ok I read your post from earlier. What file did you try to flash. Was the old 4.1.1 or one of the newer 4.1.2 img files

Correct it is the 4.1.1 img. I am away from my home computer but I think that might have been the wrong file since you want to go back to stock. I will try to search the thread for the file I used during my training

The link below should take you to the mb1 file. This will wipe everything and should take you back to stock 4.1.2. I have not done this method in a while so if something borks im sorry for mentioning it.

Thanks for your help I was able to get a usb connection enough and I used Odin on my laptop. The only problem I have now is that the custom unblock symbol appears when I boot up the phone. Any idea how to remove that now that root is gone? Ignore the following words...my phone won't let me edit them out. Thanks again.
Edit: it looks like the file I used was a 4.0.4 image. For return purposes is it fine if it's the older version? There should be no signs of root now. I'll keep checking for updates though

You should be able to go into settings and factory reset your phone and then try taking the ota.

I would, if you have an ics rom they will be able to tell something is off. It should accept an OTA update. If you can odin again, use the vrblk3 image and accept the ota to vrbmb1. It may not be updating due to to the jump from ics to the most recent base. That will make sure you're completely back to stock, with a locked bootloader, and a stock recovery.

The thread you referenced is not for the XT720 Milestone, but the Motorola Milestone A853, It's a different device, so you can't flash that one.

Quite welcome. of the roms I have used, Chronos X was very good. It can be found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519857
However, I have heard good things about this rom:

But I have not been able to test it yet, as I want to unlock the phone from the carrier before I modify it again.
