[Q] Xoom MZ600 can't load apps, always crashes, can't factory reset. - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'm a big noob to this, so please bear with me. I never took any sort of software development courses, and never had an android device until a friend that works for motorola gave me a xoom that he put together with different parts from different xooms.. Now with that being said, I'm not 100% sure of the model number, but I think its the MZ600 because it has wifi, says verizon on the back, and says can use CMDA 3g. He told me to say this on this forum because he doesn't know how to fix the problem,
I have an unrooted xoom without LTE thats OS has started bugging. I need to manually reinstall the software, due to the factory reset not working. I have tried doing it through settings, and also through holding the power/down button on reboot ect... My problem is the same as this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224081 "Apps were crashing, Google Play wasn't working, Browser as well, and so on.
I decided to do a hard reset, formatting cache, Dalvik Cache, Hard Reset...but nothing was cancelled. As soon as i rebooted my device, everything was back the way it was with the same issues. I noticed my tablet was costantly updating the same apps and even if I updated them the following reboot they were back re-updating themselves."
I have downloaded the Build HRI66 off the https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/rom-images website, and I have the android SDK, but I am unsure how to use it. If there's anyone willing to help me, that would be awesome. Thanks!

thank you the first link worked right away
I can log into my google account, but the only device associated with the account is my droid. How do I add my Gtab to the account as well?
For example if I want to download the Tegra 2 app from the Nvidia website, you log in with google accounts. Then it asks which device I want to download it to. Right now it only shows my droid as an option.

[Q] nexus s - loading issue

Hello everyone Ill try to explain as best as I can.
The Problem:
recently my nexus s 2.3.4 stopped loading every time I reset it, at first I didn't put any thought for it just plugged my battery out and in again until it got on.
than it got more frequently and I had tried to a couple of roms thinking it that can do the trick, but it didn't
What I tried to do
I followed a guide of restore to "Stock-GRH78-Nandroid"
yet the problem stand still, the only thing I just figured recently is that my phone never did actually made a correct "wipe data/factory reset" (more details at the attachment), and that runing that function is necessary for fresh restore.
the only posts that I found for that kind of problems (factory wipe) was for different types of phone and the solution were using the "Odin" however as my understanding Odin doesn't work with nexus s.
I did my best trying to google a solution and search the forums with no success.
Im adding a picture of the errors while trying to run factory reset.
any help will be much appreciated, thanks!

[Q] "Package file is invalid" error on stock ROM & CleanROM Stand 3.0

I was lucky enough to get one of the earlier batches (pre import ban) of the AT&T HTC One XLs and I have enjoyed having it over the past 5-6 weeks. A few weeks back I decided to root my phone and unlock it as I wasn't having any luck upgrading via the OTA update. I believe that soon afterwards I started having a problem installing some larger files and updates, getting a "Package file is invalid" message via Google Play.
At first this only seemed to happen occasionally but a few days back, it started occurring with practically any update or install. I tried cleaning the dalvik and other caches, factory reset, and wiped the SD card without any improvement. Yesterday I decided to make the leap and install CleanROM, both out of curiosity and a hope to resolve my problem. I wiped the system via the recovery bootloader, wiped the cache, wiped the dalvik cache, and wiped the SD card and installed CleanROM. While the install went well and CleanROM is running perfectly, I still get the package invalid method with any install larger than 1mb or so. I am frustrated about this problem as I have enjoyed this phone up to this point. If anyone have any suggestions to resolve this repeated error I would be very grateful. Thanks.
I think you followed almost all the step. But i think there is a issue on your network connection. Try to download new apps over the WiFi. I think you can't use any other mobile network ( i think you have network locked phone).
also check theses things. http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2011/12/fix-android-package-file-is-invalid.html
Follow-up on suggestion

Thanks for the suggestion but it turns out exactly the opposite is true. I have been trying to install programs over wifi and they keep failing with the invalid package file message. After reading your suggestion, I turned off the wifi and tried installing several larger programs via the mobile network - they all downloaded and installed without a hitch! Crazy.
So, it looks like my problem might have something more to do with either my wifi network/router or with some aspect of the wifi hardware or software on my phone. Tomorrow I am going to try accessing and installing files from a different network and will post my results then.

[Q] Flashed to Recovery and Certain Features Won't Work [HELP PLEASE]

So I bought this secondhand AT&T G2-D800 (without box) from a guy who said that it was not-rooted and running Android KitKat v.4.4.2. And although I have no knowledge of how these things work, I can tell you that the phone didn't have #SuperSU or any other application like that installed. Anyway, I hopped in and bought the phone.
After a few weeks I felt it to be a little slow and decided to perform a Hard Reset. A quick Google Search directed me in Volume Down + Power Button trick, but when I did it; it opened up an entire new program called TeamWinRecoveryProject. I went into 'Wipe' and wiped everything including System, Cache, Dalvik Cache, etc. and ended up putting my phone in a bootloop where @hyelton with this guide came to the rescue and helped me recover it to Android Jellybean v.4.2.2.
While using the method, when I went into Download Mode, I couldn't help reading 'ROOT' in small red letters near the bottom-left corner of the screen. Does this mean that my phone was rooted all along without me knowing? Anyway, now that my phone is operating like normal, I couldn't help noticing AT&T logo at the start-up (it didn't appear before) and innumerable AT&T apps which weren't there before.
Moreover, I'm unable to OTA update my device because it says 'your device is not registered' which it obviously isn't since I'm not living in USA and not using AT&T, but another carrier called Mobilink. I'm also unable to use 3G/4G/LTE on my device for some reason, though, I used to run 3G before the Recovery. Can somebody please help me out?

Hi there glad my guide worked for you
Yes that means your phone was certainly rooted before and defiantly since it had twrp lol. It was probably running a custom rom since you didn't see any AT&T stuff.
Now the way LG and AT&T firmware goes you MUST be on that carrier/sim to be able to OTA. So to upgrade your going to need to root, and or run a custom rom, there's no other way around that sadly.
About your data did you make sure your apn settings are set and correct? That controls your data and if there not set then no data.

Advanced Calling won't work when rooted (OC3) despite saying it's activated already

My Advanced Calling is not working. When I go into the AC settings it says it's already activated (see attached pic) yet I have no on/off button or anything giving me control of it like my girlfriend has on her unrooted, stock G4.
I am rooted on OC3, no roms or anything just stock. But for what it's worth I also could NOT get it to work when I was unrooted either.....
Anyone else having issues?

Don't wanna lose root and have to do the whole process over again :crying:
I am having the same issue, went through various reset and disable/enable on verizon's end. They are saying the only option left (in their troubleshooting tree anyways) is a factory reset, which I would ideally like to avoid.
Is there any benefit to an on device factory reset rather than pushing the stock OE2 via Odin?
I wonder if I did a factory reset, got AC to work, then re-rooted, if the AC would stick and continue working alright with root? Because I want both...
Ok guys so here's what I did.
I spent a ton of time in a support chat with samsung to no avail.
I finally flashed via odin, OE2 software (which was the out of box software for me) Rebooted and upon noticing that it wasn't a "full wipe" decided to do a factory reset.
Then I booted into recovery and performed the factory reset. At this point advanced calling was still listed as enabled on my verizon account.
I start up the phone, set it up (and deal with the annoying OTA download which I of course did not install) and the DT Ignite app pulls, plus other application updates. Lo and behold Advanced calling is available on my device. I download pingpongroot, perform it, verify it, and now I'm off to the races of getting my device back the way I wanted it.
I have titanium backup installed and I froze the "System Update" program and deleted the update.zip file from ./cache/fota. DT Ignite has also been disabled via the application manager.
I still have advanced calling and have verified it functions properly.
My only slight concern at this point is I have yet to reinstall adaway. Other than that I have performed all the major tinkering I did last time.
Hope this helps.
In short, an OE2 odin pull followed by a factory reset worked fine for me.

I'm in a similar situation in that I have the same build and rooted. VZW Tech support advised me to use Software Repair Assistant. Does anyone know if this will affect my ability to root again, I mean once it restarts and does any auto updates? Also, does it restore all my data, settings, pictures, etc?

I have never used the Software Repair Assistant tool but I'd be pretty wary of using a tool when I don't know exactly what it is doing. I'd hate to accidentally permit something to make my phone un-rootable. If you haven't tried re-flashing OE2 followed by a factory reset I'd give that a shot first.
