Galaxy Tab 2 vs Note 10.1 - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got a Tab 2 and am growing tired of the lag even using the basic function such as web browsing (running stock or rooted/CM10.1). I don't want to completely jump from the Samsung ship (I have an iPad 2 already) and wanted to know how the Tab 2 stacked up against the much higher spec'd Note 10.1 but can't find any direct comparisons on here or online.
My question is whether the the Note 10.1 is WAY better/faster/smoother/more lag free than the Tab 2. From the spec's I know it should be but I'm interested in real world first hand experience of anyone who's got or used both.

My dad has the Tab 2 and I have the note 10.1. Huge difference when I used his Tab. Lagged all over the place. My note is significantly smoother and works wonderfully.
Any particular task you're intersted in? I've got very little complaints with it. Let me remind you though that after I disabled a bunch of apps on my dad's tab and freed up more RAM, it was significantly smoother. It really comes down to how much ram it had to run apps. Have you tried different roms? Also try disabling as many apps that you dont use or install a rom that has bloatware removed. Go into application manager and disable everything and anything you can that you dont use. Like widgets and samsung app store.

Yeah, wanted to know if you've seen any lag at all using the Note? Things like pinch-zooming on the web, flicking between apps etc?

Nope. No lag with web or flicking between apps.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 is banned in Australia

Bring out Galaxy Tab II already!
Meh. It doesn't stop me from ordering it online.
also, why would you want a galaxy tab 10.1 now? its tegra2, everybody's waiting for kal-el now.
apple was afraidd of the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and 8.9 so he's doing a process in europe too but only in germany already

Everybody? If you're only interested in the processor, then by all means the Transformer2 is the way to go. I had a Qualcomm HTC Jetstream for nine days before I returned it and the UI was a bit faster but the Tab was equal in browsing and faster at video. If weight, form factor, build quality, support, audio and video codecs, display, and better drivers mean anything the G-Tab 10.1 is still a great choice. I have a Wi-Fi and am waiting for a 3G from the UK. For what a tablet's supposed to do the Teg is fine and Samsung's better optimized s/w helps its performance a lot.
Why post this in the Galaxy S II section? The more relevant thing to post would have been the changes Samsung has to make to TouchWiz in order for them to sell their devices in the Netherlands, as that directly affects the Galaxy S II(source: Samfirmware tweet). Galaxy Tab != Galaxy S II.

But of course you can get it in Germany too. Without problems. It is only not allowed for Samsung to import it
I don't think that this will matter so much to Sammy as they can make a variation of the tab 10.1 and it would be legal for retail sale in OZ. Plus Apple is scared of Samsung, i don't think that they will be able to stop every tablet that Sammy will produce in future. So this is pretty much a speed bump for Sammy

Maybe you're right. In any case, I've only tried out the Transformer1 and wasn't particularly impressed with its performance. Then again, might be possible that the SGS2 has spoilt me.

[Q]Galaxy Tab 2 or Nexus 4?

Guys, i have a [probably] stupid question.
I know the two devices listed are a phone and a tablet but...
I dont have a lot of cash. I currently have a Motorola Defy running on CM10. Im asking myself should i buy a Tab 2 (which is now $179 on amazon.com) and keep the Defy (and have two devices) or sell the Defy and buy a LG Nexus 4 (having a single device). What do you guys recommend? My main uses are browsing the web, reading books and watching movies, occasional games, and occasional office documents editing. I want the portability of the Nexus 4 and keeping my device with me always but the larger screen of the Tab 2 has an advantage.
Thanks a lot!
Hi!
Once I decide to buy a tablet I had the same question.
It´s very easy to share the phone internet to tablet when out of your home or other place without wireless and once connected via bluetooth the tablet will give you a very nice confort for internet browsing, email, etc, besides book reading and other task such as games if it´s also the case.
It´s not good to answer a phone call with a tablet - wierd experience. And you will have to keep it with you, sometimes it´s size will be a problem. If you focus a less sized device you will lose the benefits of bigger screen, sometimes 7" seems to be small and sometimes big. Everything will depends upon your usage.
From my point of view you should keep with your Defy and buy the Tab 2, Wifi version. Nowadays I have also a Galaxy tab 2 7.0 + Motorola phone and they are very good friends one to each other. I am happy with my choice as with my phone I can do everything I would do a 3G version, ie (P3100).
Get the Nexus 4. It is fast, has stock Android, and you don't have to keep up with two devices.

Galaxy tab 2 have 7 inch screen so good for reading books, have full hd playback so good for movies, support most of hd games
So it must be great.
And on other hand if you want pure android experience, fast processor,2gb ram, early updates,a better camera, intense gaming go for nexus 4.
7" is a different experience than a 4". I find myself using the tablet (7.0) over my phone most of the time.
Thanks for all your answers... but i still cant make up my mind maybe ill wait for some time and save up for the nexus 4
Even I am stuck with the same problem. Though the tab 2 has a 7" screen its no HD display, that's what is stopping me from getting a tab 2.

Well Tab 2 7.0 is 179.99 shipped while Nexus 4 is 393 tax and shipping. I love my Galaxy Nexus and Tab 2 7. I think it's a good combo. Between the two will be how you spend your days. Near wifi most of the time? Get the tab. On the move a lot or need a powerful phone? Nexus 4. And then there's the price difference. Even though the Nexus is a bargain, price difference is big.

Multi windows 4 Tab 2

Hi,
I heard that Samsung decided to let use multi windows code by developers. Do You think Galaxy Tab 2 will get this features ?
I don't know. But it will be great to see on our Galaxy Tab 2.
I have this function on my Samsung Galaxy S3, but it useless becasue of height LCD which is little bit small for this function. I hope that multiwindow will works great on Galaxy Tab 2.
Still waitin'
Multi-Window is one thing I have on my Galaxy Note 2 that I really wish my Tab 2 SGH-T779 had, the T-mobile varient of the Tab 2.
I tried installing the Xposed Framework on it, but ended up with a boot lockup so I had to rip that back out, unfortunately.
If anyone ever progresses in this, I'll be trying to keep up with it and see where things go.

[Q] CyanogenMod for Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 ?

Hi everyone
I was checking the differences between the Note Pro and the Tab Pro 12.2 ^^
Those 2 devices looks very similar...
I'm wondering if we could get some Galaxy Tab Pro's rom for our device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-pro-12-10-8/development/sm-t320-source-build-cyanogenmod-11-t2818841
I think in time we'll see them come, but the thing to remember is that our beloved 12.2 is still very much a niche market due to cost. As the price falls, we'll see more users, and with that we'll see some ports. Until then, I'd suggest rooting it and checking out the Xposed repos; you'll get many of the features of a custom rom.
This is my first Note device . . . How is the active stylus handled in CM on other Note devices? Is one able to sideload samsung apps and other active stylus enabled applications back on without issues?
I don't really care for the samsung apps really but I do like the shell integration of the S-Pen with regards to taking screen captures of parts of the screen or doing Pen-Windows.

Typically if you use a ROM that's based from a Samsung source ( like a touchwiz ROM ) , you'll have the ability to use most of the Samsung apps w/o a lot of hassle. there are non-Samsung apps that will perform similar functions though, so poke around in the forums a bit. CM is very robust and has a ginormous user community, so odds are good someone can point you in the right direction if you want to go with a CM rom.

ROM that allows running Soundcamp on P900 (wifi) Pro 12.2

Placing this in general because I'm thinking there are a lot of musicians using these tablets.
I love playing with soundcamp. I've had it on my Galaxy Note 4 phone for some time, but had no hope it would work on my P900 tablet. But a recent rom offering allows running it just fine. Not only that, but with all the screen real-estate, the program is smart enough to allow for two keyboards (piano, organ) on one screen. If you kinda like geekin' with electronica or even want to download the blues plug-ins, this rom might be your ticket. It is ported from the Samsung Tab S2. (It disables the camera, so be aware of that before flashing.)
