[Q] safestrap slots after unlocking bootloader - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After unlocking the bootloader on the HD MAXX and not using safestrap anymore, are all those 1GB and 2GB rom slots I made with safestrap still somwhere on my inter storage taking up space? Or were they erased when wiping the data/system and installing an actual rom? If not where are they so i can get rid of them... i have a lot of storage missing and not accounted for under storage in settings.

No safestrap slots are still on internal storage taking up valuable space. Just delete entire folder or save it on computer if you plan to ever use it again

Rummaged around and finally found them... Didn't think they would be in such an obvious easy place... I was looking way too far away lol. Thanks man.

[Q] Root/SD card question

Ok, so I've rooted my Wildfire S, flashed CM7 on it, with the updated gapps files (gapps gb)
My question is this...Do I need to keep all those files on my SD card? Or can I remove them?
Also, having an "H" icon for my data is better than 3G, correct? everything I've read says that, but I'd like to know from a DAMN good source (you guys)

If you've installed all packages you shouldn't need to keep those on the sd card, but best to keep them on your computer in case you need them in the future.

Yeah the 'H' is for highspeed access, you'll get that in areas where you have best reception.
Thank you very much. Yeah I still have them on my computer, along with my backup.
I also have one more question, how do I make a partition on my SD card? And should I get a bigger one? I currently have a 2gb

Not exactly sure of the context. Why do you want to create partitions?
If you are wanting to create an .ext3/.ext4 partition on which to install apps (I know people did this with the HTC Desire, because of the really low amount of onboard storage), the best tool for the job is a Linux based partition editor called GParted. Just download the live CD iso, burn it to a CD and boot from that.
You should get a new SD card yes.
A 32gb card will run you ~$20 brand new on ebay, just make sure your phone supports that capacity
Link2sd says to make sure you have a partition created on the SD card for whatever reason...I uninstalled it, and forgot what it said, but yeah....same reason. 512mb onboard storage = pure sh*t.
Edit: it says to do that for "symbolic link" whatever that means.

Sure, well most apps like that will want an ext4 partition, which like I said can be created using GParted. Plenty of tutorials on youtube I'm sure for using GParted
Ok, thanks for all your help! It's greatly appreciated!

I had this problem with my MZ604 as well when viewing available space under [Settings->Storage] but command line tools and OIFileManager reported the correct space available.
I say press on and please report back and let me know how it goes -- this may be an (un)known bug, and we may or not be seeing the same issue.
How are you viewing available space?
Which Recovery are you using?
system storage
I used system info pro. The overall storage info is correct. But the system storage where the system operating sys is only shows 236mb avaliable and 5.52 mb free. I just backup my personal data to google.
Thanks
Look harder its there in the stickies, but I'll be nice. More or less the only root method. Your entire storage on your tablet will be wiped but any root method require this. Unlocking the bootloader wipes all storage.

Roms on external sd card

Here's my question, the roms I've installed from the zips that I have placed on my sd to flash, can these be deleted off the sd card after they have been flashed since I've got nandroid backups of these roms which have been saved to internal.

Easy answer, yes.
My opinion, keep one in case your backups fail and your stuck (seen it happen a couple times). Then you have something to flash to get back quickly.
Sent from my LG spectrum (that's right) blazing fast on cm10!
Absolutely, just keep at least one sure fire way of keeping a Rom whether it's a nandroid or the zip file of a Rom. Been in a few situations where my phone couldn't boot and had no Rom on my internal or external sd and had to hijack my parents phone to put a Rom on the external sd to flash.
Thank you was thinking of reformatting my extsd and didn't want to screw things up.

[Q] SCH-R530U Complete make-over NEED GENIUS**!!!!

I have a SCH-R530U US Cellular GS3 running on JB 4.2.2 with AOKP's mr1 build 5.
Kernel: 3.0.67-aokp-00038-g5a02406
I'm bored of this ROM and want to try Liquid Smooth for the features and hopeful battery life extension. I have been trying to get my phone back to stock EVERYTHING every couple weeks for the last few months now, and have not found any stock rom/kernel files that do anything other then brick my device into a hard boot loop. I have a NANDROID backup, so all is not lost, but I'm just so sick of not being able to find ONE file that will give me stock kernel and stock ROM so I can try a new ROM with new features and speed. I would flash LS over the AOKP build, I just haven't found any info on whether or not the ROM is compatible with my kernel, or if that's even an factor and Iv freaked out too many times over thinking my phone was F$*!ed to be that ballsy in trying something without having exact instructions or some sort of literature/video. So Id rather be safe then sorry and start completely fresh.
Also to get rid of all the non-sense i have on my phone from flashing tons of files to get rid of AOKP, and not knowing how to delete them.
The other issue. My SD card isn't recognized by anything. I cant move apps to my SD card with any app out there, the file is emulated and what i think happened was somehow, I ended up with two SD card files, and they have mixed files in them. So being as newb as I am, idk what files i need to keep in order for proper functioning of my phone and which I can delete, so i can move apps to the SD card and pictures and all that stuff to free up space on my phone. Im more then willing to delete everything on the card, but that wont fix my unorganized internal file clusterf$!*#.
Iv seriously being looking for months, downloaded ADB toolkit to try and get stock back that way, but just another boot loop.
TL;DR
1. Need stock ROM/kernel files for my version that will actually work and not bootloop me.
2. Can any ROM be flashed over any kernel, or are there restrictions with specific ones?
3. How can I fix my SD card problem (not recognizable by any App2SD app; literally none -says my SD card is emulated), with messed up internal files?
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Through your recovery do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik) Sounds like you want to wipe your internsl sd too? Depending on where you keep your info you can wipe your internal SD but it's not necessary.
When you flash a ROM it will come with it's own kernel so you don't have to worry if a ROM is compatible with your kernel. Just make sure you flash a ROM that is compatible with US Cellular.

Thank you for your reply, honestly.
I vaguely remember doing a full wipe (system, cache, delvik, and data) and it not fixing the issue. But, I will try again. I'm more concerned about my SD card issue and all the messed up files. Will wiping all this fix that? Using ES explorer, I have about six /0 files... Idk if you know much about that, but from what I've learned, within that ONE /0 file, there should be storage for my SD card (data/media) and of course, there's nothing there. So, do you think or do you know that doing a full system wipe will remedy the problems? No tone intended, not trying to be a jerk, simple curious for the future.
Just format the SD card. Wipe everything off if your comfortable with losing the info. You can save important stuff top your CPU if necessary.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Won't formatting the SD card just erase everything anyway? This would fix my "corrupt" file issue though, correct? The multiple files and unoraginzation?
Sent from my SCH-R530U using xda app-developers app orginized
Yes formatting it will completely wipe it.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
And that's something I can do through my recovery, yes?
Sent from my SCH-R530U using xda app-developers app
I'm using TWRP and it can be done though recovery.. wipe > advanced > check sd card
Just backup anything you want to save

Will responded with results later tonight. This stuff always scares me... Gatta risk it for the biscuit though.

[Q] Help me revive LG Optimus L9 P760

Hello guys.
I just bought a brand new LG P760 (aka Optimus L90 , firmware 4.1.2. I have rooted it with Cydia Impactor. So far so good. I wanted to make my device install as default on SD card, so I started playing with Aparted from Google Play Store. I dont know exactly what I did, but i can tell you that I have attached 2 pics with the menu that I have interacted with. I made 2 partitions, PART: 1 has size of 1500 MB, PART: 2 has size of ~12000MB. I used ADB to make SDCard default storage device (db shell pm setInstallLocation 2) the restarted. After it has restarted, I tried to install something big from the Store, but it said that I had insuficient space. I tried to reverse PART1 with PART2, replace sizes I mean, but when I tried to delete PART2 it said that it is in use and I could not. After that, I started playing with the /dev/block/mmcblk0 and mmcblk1m, without knowing what they do. I tried to restart the device and... poof. It didn't. It is dead now. I tried all combinations of keys. The device is detected in windows as OMAP4430. I tried fastboot, it said ok but...it did not start. It doesn't start anymore. I have attached 2 pics with the program...
PLEASE HELP ME.
Just to clear up everything, is it your SD card that has been partitioned? And can you get to recovery at all?

Yes, it was my SD card that has been partitioned. I wanted to be able to install directly to it. It didn't work too well so I started messing up with those setting Aparted soft has... If it matters, it is a GoodRam 16GB Class 10.
That's a pretty good SD card xD have you tried placing you card into a pc!/ laptop card reader and formating completely, removing the partitions, formating again then re doing the partitions an installing on to SD.... May I also ask why you decided to do this?

Well...i tried, but had no luck. The reason ) is that wanted to install apps directly on SD card from the store, but in order to do so, i needed two partitions on the SD card, one smaller and one larger, the probles was that I made the smaller one bigger, and the bigger one smaller and needed to swap them, but one of them was is use, by the OS i presume, but i had flyies into my had and did ugly stuf...
Ahh right! Now that sucks, sorry I honestly wouldn't know what to suggest to you, maybe someone else could help ?
