[Q] Cwm 6.0.1.4 blocked my TF700 - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi all,
I tried to root my TF700 by installing cwm 6.0.1.4 (non touch) and at the moment the tablet is always rebooting to the recovery cwm 6.0.1.4 directly, even if the battery ends when i reconnect my TF700 it's goes directly to that menu. This wouldn not be a problem, but the volume + and - do not work so i am not able to wipe data or flash the tablet.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance.

I have seen a few weird issues with cwm, so I just want to recommend TWRP, I never have any issue with twrp.

I believe that you are using an old version of cwm. I need to know what rom and what version and what bootloader you're using right now?

OK, you must be very careful if not you may brick your tablet. Can you boot into the 3 icons mode (recovery)?

Just to update you all the version of cwm is not 6.0.1.4 but 6.0.1.3
It always boots to the screen Cwm-based recovery v.6.0.1.3, is shows up Asus and then it goes to Cwm.

Try going into fastboot and flashing TWRP 2.5. I cant really think of a solution until we can find a way to make some type of progress. You said you do get the USB in the bootloader, you should be able to flash TWRP. If you are unable to then it looks like its bricked.

If you can get adb shell access to your recovery, you have possibilities to diagnose and eventually recover. The first thing would be to post the output of "ls /dev/block".

Sorry, I can't help you with Windows driver issues. With the right drivers and adb.exe, you should be able to access adb shell while the recovery is running, so not in APX mode. Maybe someone else can guide you through the process of finding and installing the required software on your PC.

ive used easyflash and the flash completes 100% but doesnot boot up just stays on the nv screen or it shows battery empty sign?
anyone? i have problems getting it into apx mode, been trying for half an hour and still cant get it in to apx. would the bootloaders be a reason why i cant restore via nvflash?
Could it have gone flat during a flash? and it wont go into apx mode after the failed flash? Someone can correct me if im wrong but im sure partitions doesn't effect nvflash. what screens are you stuck at currently?

also stuck
i'm not sure if i'm jacking this thread, but i have the exact same issue- was stuck in cwm boot. could cold boot into the normal os, but who wants that. so i used easyflasher to flash the newest asus update and attempt to fix this situation. used sbk2. now stuck on the nvflash recovery screen. computer says i'm still in apx mode. can't get the sucker to reboot for the life of me. it will record on the tablet screen when i flash and reflash, but won't let me reboot. also tried to flash all three recoveries (cwm, twrp, and roachxm) to no avail. some help would be appreciated.
yup
i know somebody has an answer to this. i cannot be the only idiot to get stuck here.

I dont think it does. Theres an option to flash cwm, rogue, and one by roach (the name is slipping my mind), none of them seem to work. The computer is registering as apx but the tablet says im in nvflash recovery.

There is option right... as far as i remember, when yo flash stock using nvflash it removes root access... so you need to root and flash cwm again using nvflash right... so best option is removing root n going back to stock using easy flash.... boot it normally... let it settle and then root it again and install rogue recovery
That what I did when I had issues with my tablet...

ok got it. easyflasher 0.8.3b fixed it. whitekidneys has it working great now. the problem was getting easyflasher to finish the recovery kernel. something stopped or failed to transfer to the tablet while flashing the recovery. that means no recovery. that means i get stuck in apx mode. he updated it to 0.8.3b and it worked right away.

Hey there,

Now I have tried the new version and it boots again but the bootloop remains...
Any idea what else I could try?

You flashed a recovery and reflashed the os? When you say new version you mean 0.8.3b right? Cause 0.8.3 doesnt work. You have the newest system update zip from the asus site in the asusupdate folder? When you say bootloop do you mean you can only get to your recovery or do you mean a real bootloop- it just keeps rebooting on the eee pad or asus screen?

I used the option Flash stock/unbrick at first but this didn't help so i tried flashing a recovery and then reflash the os from my external sd card but this result in an error code 7.
Yes I used 0.8.3b ( at least the zip I downloaded says so, program itself says 0.8.3)
With bootloop I mean that I can access recovery/apx but if the system trys to boot it gets stuck at the "Asus Inpiring inovation..." screen.
And yes I copied the latest zip from the asus site to the update folder.
I also tired putting the DE_epaduser9_2_1_21UpdateLauncher.zip from the asus site because I'm from germany and thought it may help...
But none of that worked for me
Thank you for your reply btw.

If you don't have nvflash backups then unfortunately you can't restore from apx mode.
Can you answer the question - which bootloader were you on and where did you wipe from? In recovery or in the bootloader?

If you are unable to get to the boot loader, or recovery, then yes the tablet is bricked. APX mode does not allow access to the parts containing the recovery or boot loader. If you can get to the boot loader, aka holding down power button and volume down button, should be able to see what boot loader you have a flash a compatible recovery. If not, then your tablet is bricked, which seems to be the case.

Not able to reboot into recovery or auto-install ROM's

I had unlocked my TF700T and installed CM10, but it has never had the capability to reboot into recovery when enabled in the developer options -- selecting that when rebooting simply makes the ASUS logo come up several times, then it boots normal without going into recovery.
A related issue is when I download a CM10.1 update and tell it to upgrade, it reboots but doesn't install the new version from recovery.
I'm assuming something isn't unlocked or enabled somehow... but on the ASUS boot screen it does say "device is unlocked".

The button press method is the proper way to flash anything. If you unlock you BETTER know how to flash in recovery. Also, GooManager will not flash firmware on the TF700, you must do it manually from recovery, thus why the upgrade is failing.

Yes I certainly can and do flash all sorts of stuff from recovery -- first CM, now TWRP. But on my Epic 4G I just use CM Updater to download the latest ROM, then it asks me if I want to install, I say yes, and it reboots and installs it for me. But on my TF700T it isn't happening -- when I answer "yes" it just reboots without installing the new ROM.
Is it NORMAL with the TF700T to be unable to boot into recovery by using the power menu??
Is there something I don't have configured properly or didn't install something properly?

Yes (with the stock ROM).
Sorry, I should have been clear: I meant "with any version of CM?"
I use goo manager just to reboot into recovery, than flash manually. If I had to do the button boot recovery I wouldn't flash anything anymore.
Always sweaty hands when I see those three icons.

Interesting. Rebooting to recovery with Goo Manager doesn't work for me either -- it just flashes the ASUS logo several times and then boots normally.
Seems like my recovery isn't setup properly -- any suggestions on how I can fix it?

Sorry I can't help you fix it. But getting into recovery is as simple as typing this at the terminal if you have busybox installed or use the rebooter widget from ROM Toolbox or the market app. They all do the same thing.

Can't access recovery or fastboot

I searched forums extensively but was unable to find a solution to this problem I recently encountered:
I recently flashed CWM Recovery and rooted my TF700 on android 4.0.3. Since I was not receiving any notifications for an OTA jellybean update I flashed it myself as per these instructions (apparently I'm not allowed to post URL as a new user, but the thread I read was entitled [GUIDE] How to manually update/restore firmware (Tf700, TF300, TF101, possibly TF201) and was located on transformerforums.com. The firmware update was successful, however I lost root access in the process. I attempted to reinstall root, however quickly discovered that CWM Recovery was no longer accessible by holding down power and vol down as it usually is; instead, I am taken to a bootloader screen with three options: RCK, ANDROID, WIPE. I can no longer access fastboot or my recovery ... can anyone shed some light on what I may do to gain access to recovery or fastboot again?
Thanks in advance!

That is my thread . You flashed stock correct? Then that means you wiped out root and CWM. You are able to access the boot loader with 3 icons? Look up in the corner, it will say when at the screen with 3 icons that fastboot is running. It is also suggested to use TWRP as CWM can cause TF700s to brick when on 4.2.1.

^ sorry i forgot; yes I flashed stock jellybean
Just tried to flash TWRP and got the same hangup as when I tried to flash CWM: command window says waiting on device and they never hook up. I noticed when I plug in my tablet instead of the typical low beep and then a high beep indicating a device is connected, i get three sad, low beeps, does that mean my ADB bootloader drivers are the problem? When I disconnect it makes the typical high beep and low beep.

To make this simple, boot into the stock ROM, root it using motochopper. You are unlocked correct, Once rooted, download GooManager from Play Store, click top right 3 dots, and select "Install Openscript Recovery". Make sure GooManager has Root Rights' first. Then try booting into recovery after it restart.

I'm running cromix 4.7.0, and downloaded twrp 4.6.1 through goo manager today...when it reboots and is supposed to go to the recovery but it just reboots. I also tried booting yup recovery from the power menu, and the bootloader and the same thing happened. I was cleaning up files that were taking internal memory space today, could I have deleted something that's causing this issue? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it didn't flash properly to me. I'll be preparing a new version of my bootloader and twrp flashable zip later today after I test twrp 2.6.1.0
Have you tried flashing twrp via the fastboot method?
I did try the fastboot method as well.

The only time i had this issue was when i used Hund kernel (which had a know reboot to recovery bug) and the workaround was to press the Power button until the tablet reboot, then access to Recovery was granted. Otherwise i have no idea what might cause the issue.

Since installing CM10.1.3RC, reboot to recovery from CWM doesn't work. Both TRWP and CWM recoveries fail. Can manually enter recovery. Goo Manager will still reboot into recovery, either TRWP or CWM. Seems like this started with the installation of the latest CM RC.

Have you considered reflash the latest Asus firmware and fastboot TWRP or CWM? It may solve your problem..

I'm reluctant to nuke my current installation, particularly since it reboots to recovery with Goo Manager. I'll wait for the next iteration of CM or CWM, if it doesn't solve the issue I may go for it.

How would I go about doing a flash of the latest ASUS Firmware, I am currently on CM 10.1 and cannot get into recovery (even using goomanager). I did try to flash via fastboot but it does not seem to work. There is an error when I select RCK in fastboot, I can't remember off hand but it has to do with fastboot error, could this be my error?
