need help with nvflash - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ive used easyflash and the flash completes 100% but doesnot boot up just stays on the nv screen or it shows battery empty sign?

anyone? i have problems getting it into apx mode, been trying for half an hour and still cant get it in to apx. would the bootloaders be a reason why i cant restore via nvflash?

Could it have gone flat during a flash? and it wont go into apx mode after the failed flash? Someone can correct me if im wrong but im sure partitions doesn't effect nvflash. what screens are you stuck at currently?

When you press power+volume up buttons together it gets into APX mode... when you are in that mode "tablet screen will be blank" till you start working with it.... laptop will say APX device connected.... what kind of situation are you facing?

also stuck
i'm not sure if i'm jacking this thread, but i have the exact same issue- was stuck in cwm boot. could cold boot into the normal os, but who wants that. so i used easyflasher to flash the newest asus update and attempt to fix this situation. used sbk2. now stuck on the nvflash recovery screen. computer says i'm still in apx mode. can't get the sucker to reboot for the life of me. it will record on the tablet screen when i flash and reflash, but won't let me reboot. also tried to flash all three recoveries (cwm, twrp, and roachxm) to no avail. some help would be appreciated.

yup
i know somebody has an answer to this. i cannot be the only idiot to get stuck here.

Doesn't nvflash (easy flash) flash rogue recovery by default... have you installed naked drivers ? You can get into APX mode and then u r stuck ?

I dont think it does. Theres an option to flash cwm, rogue, and one by roach (the name is slipping my mind), none of them seem to work. The computer is registering as apx but the tablet says im in nvflash recovery.

There is option right... as far as i remember, when yo flash stock using nvflash it removes root access... so you need to root and flash cwm again using nvflash right... so best option is removing root n going back to stock using easy flash.... boot it normally... let it settle and then root it again and install rogue recovery
That what I did when I had issues with my tablet...

fixed!!!
ok got it. easyflasher 0.8.3b fixed it. whitekidneys has it working great now. the problem was getting easyflasher to finish the recovery kernel. something stopped or failed to transfer to the tablet while flashing the recovery. that means no recovery. that means i get stuck in apx mode. he updated it to 0.8.3b and it worked right away.

Hey there,
I had exactly the same problem , I had a boot loop tried easyflasher and after that only apx worked.
Now I have tried the new version and it boots again but the bootloop remains...
Any idea what else I could try?

You flashed a recovery and reflashed the os? When you say new version you mean 0.8.3b right? Cause 0.8.3 doesnt work. You have the newest system update zip from the asus site in the asusupdate folder? When you say bootloop do you mean you can only get to your recovery or do you mean a real bootloop- it just keeps rebooting on the eee pad or asus screen?

I used the option Flash stock/unbrick at first but this didn't help so i tried flashing a recovery and then reflash the os from my external sd card but this result in an error code 7.
Yes I used 0.8.3b ( at least the zip I downloaded says so, program itself says 0.8.3)
With bootloop I mean that I can access recovery/apx but if the system trys to boot it gets stuck at the "Asus Inpiring inovation..." screen.
And yes I copied the latest zip from the asus site to the update folder.
I also tired putting the DE_epaduser9_2_1_21UpdateLauncher.zip from the asus site because I'm from germany and thought it may help...
But none of that worked for me
Thank you for your reply btw.

Crap. Try all of the updates. If you can get to your recovery its definitely a problem with the os. Try othe other updates or get ahold of whitekidneys. He helped me. Or maybe youre having another issue he needs to address.

[Q] How to unbrick my transformer?

So here's my story. I rooted my transformer (rooted with razorclaw and CWM recovery, had no problems) and I wanted to update the firmware, sooo. I followed some walk through on unrooting by downloading the stock recovery and stock rom to my sdcard then unzipping them and loading them with CWM recovery. I let it boot and rebooted to load in the stock rom. Then I rebooted and loaded the stock recovery and rebooted again. And now it wont start up past the "Asus Eee pad Transformer" screen and just stays on it. I can get into part of stock recovery and wipe data and cold boot linux. But when I try to get into the other half of recovery options it just does the little robot unpacking the stuff then I get a triangle with an exclamation mark saying it failed to load. I tried using NVflash with the prime v1.4 ROM and failed. The starting S/N is B90 so that's why I figured NVflash didn't work...Because I have V2 SBK not V1. I can go into APX mode but it's getting really frustrating, WHAT CAN I DO??
I don't think you were supposed to unzip those files. Those are CWM flashable zip files

Yeah cause i was thinking if you did unzip it wouldn't flash anyway.
How long does is sit at the asus screen?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
forever until it dies, I can only get partially into recovery like I mentioned. Also when it charges it just shows that screen too(had to charge it cuz I got so frustrated I just left it and it ended up dying).
Please someone help, I have no idea how to flash a rom to my Device without NVflash. Is there some other program I could try that would work? I basically just need to flash a rom onto my device then I can try installing stock recovery again
Long shot but maybe try this, it's what peoples are doing to downgrade. Hopefully the recovery might pick it up after you reboot into recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20799328
I'll try this, but the download is taking forever...I'll have to update tomorrow thanks for your help
I tried in both the LOST.DIR folder and the main directory...the device didn't recognize it. I don't know what to do
Is there any other way to flash a rom on my transformer besides NVflash? or any other method? I'm up for anything now...does anything think if I sent it in to company they could do a restore?
The company could do a restore, but they will probably charge you since you rooted. You could try, or you could lie, and say it goobered after installing the update.

So that means the process for unlocking the bootloader for ICS works on HC. Great find (although you almost ended up with a paperweight ).
i did the same as the OP and I've tried the reset button and it doesn't seem to want to work.

Can I ask how you got the SBK? That's not available for the A100. The method used for the A500 doesn't work on the A100 bootloader either. If the device is stuck in APX mode then it's bricked and will need to be sent to Acer for repair or a motherboard replacement will need done by yourself or someone you take it to.

[Q] [solved] Won't boot - No ADB, no CWM/, no "wipe data", no nvflash (c20 serial)
Thanks for reading.
I recently bought a refurbished Transformer with a serial starting with c20. I rooted with vipermod, installed recoveryinstaller and AOKP. After being unable to install CWM (I now know why) my device became unable to boot into recovery. Recoveryinstaller would not install either. When I attempted to normal boot, the device would just hang. My only option was to cold boot into linux, which worked.
I then attempted to "full wipe" in order to re-install recoveryinstaller for access to recovery. After doing so, my Transformer no longer boots. It sits at the "Android" splash screen, which I believe is AOKP still attempting to load. Recovery doesn't boot, full wipe only beings me back to the "Android" splash, and cold booting into linux also returns me to the "Android" splash.
After lots of searching and reading, I found a few help threads that offered suggestions for those unable to boot, but they all require adb. My understanding based on the adb tutorial is that it requries configuration within the Android OS, and for the device to be running, which mine does not. And from what I've read, the c20 serial number isn't compatible with nvflash.
Can someone point me in the right direction? I feel like I'm at a dead end here. Thanks a bunch.
-Chris
edit: to clarify, I never setup ADB, which makes me think that solutions like this won't work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25636698#post25636698
Hello cfbauer,
Did you try this driver pack? after 1st remove all you transformer drivers?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514942
If you install this, then you can check with adb if there is communication possible with your transformer. if you connect it, is there any life on your pc when you start your TF?
or volume + and power to put tablet in apx mode and see if then the apx driver installs. If it does then try the brks rootkit v7.1 to see if you can install cwm with this tool....maybe your refurbished TF is an old B40 to 70).
unless this is what you already did......
dont forget to disable spashtop and asys sync on your pc.......
Well I managed to get ADB setup, I think. I'm new to this, but when I attempt to boot into recovery, and do "adb devices" I get "0123456789ABCDEF offline".
I'm a little hesitant to try nlheiz's suggestion of brks rootkit v7.1 as it says it's for a serial number that's older than my device is. nlheiz, can you confirm this is safe? Or can someone else suggest an alternate method of getting my 2 week old Transformer to a useful state? I definitely appreciate the help.

edit: I just read this
The only thing that differs between SBK1 tablets and SBK2 tablets is the use of NVFlash. SBK2 cannot use NVFlash, so if you end up botching both your recovery and your ROM, and cannot boot into either, then you are SCREWED, so I would suggest reading everything before attempting to mod your device if you are an SBK2 owner.

edit2: I'm looking at trying this guide: http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...overy-bootloop-fix-tested-my-c10-windows.html since it appears to be able to fix the issue I'm having.
edit3:attempting the guide posted in edit2 is giving me a "error:device offline" on step 6 when I try the adb push command
edit4: I can't seem to download brk Universal Rootkit 7.1 as neither download link is working
Does anyone have a suggestion? I'd appreciate it. Or is my device totally dead and I'm just screwed?

Thanks for your response. I get "0123456789ABCDEF offline" when I type adb devices when I boot into recovery mode, which isn't actually recovery mode since the system it hangs when I try to boot into recovery mode.

How did you get AOKP ROM on the TF if you couldn't get CM to install?
Are you still on stock recovery? I know yo usay recoery doesn't boot but what does it do when trying to boot into recovery?
Doe sit hang or you get any message?
FOR ADB offline message, have you try a different USB port?

OMG it worked! I'm back baby! So exited. Thanks for your help! I suppose this means my Transformer is an SBK1. Nice.
To answer your questions if you're curious, I used RecoveryInstaller. It was CWM, but an older version, my mistake. I ran into the random reboots issue, but the version of CWM recoveryInstaller used wasn't compatible with Aroma, which was required to install a custom kernel.
I don't remember the exact text on screen when I try to load into recovery, but I believe it was something like "booting into recovery mode."
And yes, I did try a different usb port for adb, it didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Worked! Thanks for the heads up!
By the way, you don't need Aroma to install a custom kernel with AOKP. Since I utterly refuse to flash touch recovery (no ext-sd support) I can't use aroma. The classic way is to go grab the .zip of the kernel (I recommend Testymehics or Guevor's test kernels) out of development. Clear cache, then flash as if you were flashing a rom, no aroma required.

Semi-Bricked my TF101

Just picked up a TF101 and it had the Cryo (whatever it is called) OS with ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.4. The OS didn't pick up wifi on the apps but it is on and logged into the router so I did a reset. Once I reset the TF101, i am stuck at CWM. It won't boot into any OS or anything else. I tried almost everything I found googling (this site and others) but nothing works. I did, however, got the TF drivers for my laptop so I can connect to it but I can't get the USB debug option on (of course).
So what are my options? how do I "unbrick" this thing? is this what some people call it soft-brick as it does boot but there just isn't any OS in there? I tried to put the OS zip file from Asus on a MicroSD but when I went to install zip from sdcard, it i can't get to the microSD to install it. it doesn't find it at all.
what can I do? what are the steps in unbricking this thing? I got this for my dad for father's day (chinese father's day which is TODAY...) and would like to get it to him.
Thanks in advance!
Is it in a CWM boot loop? Meaning when you reboot the tablet it keep going back to CWM?
Try this to see if you can boot OS.
Turn off tablet
Push and hold Vol down plus Power button
Wait till you see a screen that give you two options
Wipe data or Cold boot Linux
Choose Cold boot to boot into OS.

If you have ADB working, you can push a ROM file to internal memory and flash it.
Alternatively you can NVFlash a compatible ROM.

Sorry to sound ignorant but what's ad and what command (extra code after the .exe) do I add afterwards?
I'd try to flash a ROM via NVFLASH.
You may download it from here, but you must know if your TF101 is WW version, US version or any other. You must also know if your device is SBK1 or SBK2. That depends on the serial number. For example, mine starts by B50 and it's SBK1. If yours is SBK2 then you'll have to take a look at wheelie. If not, take a look here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620758
However, I'm not responsible for any damage your device might suffer.
Take a look at that and tell me
here's the endall- easyflash version 0.8.3b whitekidneys just updated it and saved my brick. it'll save yours too. just install it on your computer, along with naked drivers 0.7, put the tf in apx, and flash. literally that easy.
Follow the link to easy flash / nvflash and follow the steps...

[Q] Help i think i bricked my system

So i got a new T F 300T yesterday and wanted to root it today.
I unlocked it and rooted it successfully. But then I tried installing a recovery. Installed CWM using fastboot. tried booting into it using RCK. It says booting into recovery mode and just reboots to OS. Installed CMW touch, same problem. Installed TRWP since i read that cmw has some problems. Now i used the 1 click root 1.1 to boot into recovery mode. The device now keeps rebooting. IT starts on the asus screen, then reboots again. So im stuck in a boot loop. When I press vlm dwn +power, it doesnt give me a menu anymore , instead it says that its rebooting into recovery mode and reboots again. Im freaking out right now, anyway to recover my device? Or is it 400 bucks down the dran? I dunno why this happened , since i am not new to flashing ROMs and stuff, and ususally test out new ROMs using my GNex. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi there, sucks to hear what happened..
I believe you haven't put in enough research, ASUS has a publicly available unlocker for the 300T, why did you use a 3rd party root app?
Can you still boot Android? If you have root and your recovery partition is broken, there should still be a way to overwrite the recovery partition.
If not, this basically looks like a brick, unless you can hook up a debugger during the boot process somehow.
Someone with in-depth knowledge of this device might be able to help you out further, I'm just theorycrafting here.. Best of luck!
I would try using fastboot to reflash stock firmware, which you can download from the Asus website.
You could also try getting into APX mode and using nvflash to reflash it.
