Hi all. Im currently rooted and using viperXL but I wish to achieve super CID so thay I can S-off , I have tried many methods and one click root methods to try get SCID I 'get [-] error' and it then reboots to bootloader. And tells me my cid is ORANG001, all and any help would be appreciated as I've had countless attempts.

Hex edit your CID. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212737&highlight=hex+edit+cid
You need to have root obviously.
I'm not sure we should be telling noobs who can't even find their software version to hexedit. One typo or error when hexediting that partition will hardbrick you. I remember people doing it back when we first got the unlock exploit and there was no other way to do it. A couple of people accidentally left out digits when trying to do it and promptly killed their phones.

I'm specific about checking filesize before and after, if they follow directions, they should not brick, it's not my fault if they can't read. But, I do agree with you, that's why I'm so attitudish sometimes, I've said ti before and I'll say it a million times over. ROOTING IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. Too many people think of it as just a way to make their phones look cool. They don't understand the risk of having root access to a device that stores tons of personal information.

Exactly. Takes patientce. It isn't easy like a one click jail breaking tool. Many people asked me to root their phone and they had different phones, carriers, and versions. After explaining the risk, they agreed. I am very good at directions and have a 100% success rate. If anything happens it is because of them

Last android I rooted for a friend was the a500 tablet and when the click to continue... U may brick your device... That's when I called him over and said if ur sure click the proceed button after he read warnings.. needless to say 5 days rooted and he bricked it flashing random stuff... So I agree 100% that not everyone should root a phone... More ambition than knowledge is dangerous

I'm really sorry if this isn't in the right place, I'm brand new to this forum.
So I have spent the last 3 days trying to upgrade my Sensation XE to ICS and have encountered/overcome most of the problems along the way. Yes, it's S-off, unlocked, 4 ext installed etc. I am at a stage now where I've flashed 3 different Roms (Darkforest Sensation XE ICS 6.6.0 is what I'm currently on) and each time i've had the same error. After all the updates etc it won't recognise the data on my sim card. The sim card is not locked, there is just no signal.
at closer inspection of the settings, I can't turn the mobile networks on, nor will the phone detect any. So my questions are:
1) Can I fix this by getting the appropriate RUU Vodafone file and by flashing it?
2) if yes, does anyone know where to get the RUU vodafone file for the sensation XE in australia?
3) if no, are there other fixes?
Below I've pasted the getvar command for everything about my phone:

I apparently need to update my phone to 3.18 to install H8rift's CM10.1, but After running the RUU installer, I got an error 159.
Isn't there a way I can update my hboot through the Android SDK?

Wrong it needs the 3.17/3.18 firmware files, it is not about hboot.214, just the same as the touch screen driver issue was never hboot 2.14.
RUU your phone. Easiest method is to supercid, s-off and then RUU.
You will likely want access to a Windows machine at some point during that.
Is it possible to just flash the OTA JB update instead of ruu? I already have supercid, s-off and unlocked

Yes.. but you need to extract the recovery.img from the update zip file. Then fastboot flash the stock recovery (after making sure the ota is on your storage) then boot to bootloader. Then recovery. Press volume up and press and release power to access recovery menu. Then pick the ota and flash

This is in order to know which RUU I should install.

There is no carrier logo. Just htc and beatsaudio. It was purchased in Canada. I guess that I should just leave it.
Or is there some way of knowing what my CID was before I changed it... Is it stored in some other place? Is it stored in some app that I have a backup of? Is it stored in some place by some procedure that I may have run in the past?
Can HTC tell from the IMEI, perhaps? Or other details? From the baseband?

typically SuperCID changes the CID in /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 or /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 It's possible that it's still within one of those files if you pull them both and have a look with a hex editor. I think it's stored in another file too.. maybe mmcblk0p6?
I don't know if HTC can tell from the IMEI but they might.
Search in the forum the radio and hboot doesn't seem to me like official AT&T it looks like telus or rogers I'm almost sure that from that information (hboot and radio) u can know the last ruu that had been run on the phone therefore the company of it. Imei it's a good one too but instead of HTC try calling different companies. Carriers need imei don't think HTC does so why keep them. Good luck

If all that was done is supercid and no changing of firmware files, this phones hboot/radio/dsp matches Telus 1.91.661.4.

Changing ROGER001 to TELUS001 should be enough also those 2 devices share the same MID PJ8310000 which would also help to get past checks.
Devices from other regions with different MID's may fail if you only changed the CID.
I see, sounds doable.
I may do this with my other One XL.

Most would just supercid and s-off. Then any RUU from any region will typically work.

get into the bootloader in fastboot mode, type in cmd fastboot getvar mainver or fastboot getvar all(and look for main version), lets say for example its 2.40.415.1 , you go to http://www.androidruu.com/index.php?developer=Evita and search for 2.40.415.1.

No it cant.
2.40.415.1 is for a different device, aka an Evita_UL device, aka the same as our Evita's.
There is no proof via Google that public availability of 2.40.415.1 Evita devices ever happened. It is likely just a RUU leaked from testing rounds in The Gulf which never accepted Evita_UL as a device for sale. 2.40.415.1 has no OTA updates as it likely was never on devices for sale.
I believe Evita_UL in The Gulf stopped in testing rounds and later the Evita_UTL device was released instead.
All signs point to Evita_UTL is not compatible with Evita_UL software.
Many RUU's of ROM's that do not exist on publicly available devices exist. These are leaked from carrier testing rounds.
There is no known RUU for Evita_UTL 1.01.401.03
Edit: I mean no disrespect over Saudi Arabia vs Oman. The correct region for the phone is "HTC GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council)", eg anywhere in the Gulf. I only said Saudi Arabia as so far nearly everyone has been from that 1 country.

I think you need a highly skilled mobile phone hacker/cracker (which in some cases might be HTC/Qualcomm/Google staff etc)
Eg the type of people that have figured out the Evita_UL device and leaked RUU's.
XDA being English language means very very few people on these forums have the same device as you as it appears to only be sold in The Gulf.
Perhaps some of the Arabic forums have more information about the device.
Right now it appears you guys are stuck because there has been no interest in the region from people capable of doing the required groundwork.

Timmaaa & all
Thanks a lot for info and trying to help on this .. I really don't know whats wrong with this version why no RUU publicly available I wrote to HTC customer support before asking them if this device is GCC version and software is original from htc and they confirmed back to me "YES"!
Even HTC support not able to solve 4G network issue, device should work with 4G 1800 & 2600 but it has been tested by different people its only work and support 2600 frequency ... and when we tried to work around and fix 4g issues by loading custom roms wil get stuck and no way to go back because no RUU?!
Regards
Hi. I have a htc one x from at&t, it was rooted when i bought it but I locked again but got supercid and s-off before that, then I updated to 4.2.2 but dont like it my phone isnt the same, battery doesnt last and pictures quality is low. Can I downgrade, if so.. how?
Either flash a custom ROM that's a lower Android version or run an earlier RUU.

I don't need you sending me PM's as well as posting here, posting here is enough. Do Ritter of the things I mentioned above, both have low risk involved.

Thanks. No need to be rude by the way.

How is that being rude? I was merely asking for you to only post in one place at a time (as per XDA rules).
