My Asus TF300T Is Completely Dead! - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had upgraded to 4.2 firmware (WW_epad-user-10.6.1.8) using the second method described on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982. This worked well and everything was working until I messed up today D: I was trying to flash SuperSU using TWRP but it couldn't recognize my Internal SD Card so I thought there might be something wrong with my installation. When I entered the bootloader I noticed the message: Key driver not found.. Booting OS. I don't know what this means. I did not read the first thread in the General section and tried to do a restore using the 4.2 firmware package. I used the "fastboot flash system blob" command and this time everything was messed up. The blue bar that appears on installation is no longer appearing and I have an "unrecoverable bootloader" error. Nothing I did worked! What should I do?? Please provide me some simple steps. I used these commands before flashing system blob...
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
This was a very stupid move on my part but I thought this would allow a clean install D: D: Please help!

gee man you completely wiped the sucker, you may be bricked =(. i would start by trying to fastboot flash the patched version of twrp. unless you can boot into twrp already then try to flash the asus package again thru twrp. also, could twrp see your internal sd before you bricked?

No, that is the reason why I wiped everything (stupid move I know)...TWRP was screwed up to begin with. I flashed 2.5 JB version and it couldn't detect my internal SD card. I made sure it was the right model and everything so TWRP messed me up. I don't know how to flash a working version of TWRP since I don't know what version works with 4.2 tf300 firmware.

I'm not sure how to flash it...I tried fastboot flash recovery twrp.blob (2.4.4.0 v4.2). It just freezes although the cmd says it was successful

I keep getting a bootloader error (0x0000000) everytime I try and enter RCK, Android, Wipe Data... Is there a way to reinstall the bootloader? WW_epad 10.6.1.8

No mate
As of now there's no solution to that.
Do ppl ever read before they flash? I've never seen as much bricks as I've seen on this device since the new 10.6x.x Asus bootloader... it's a shame
Read read read, understand understand understand, then read more. I almost feel sorry for you guys who are "just flashing away"

Bump!
I have a couple of questions.
I would like to know about your bootloader (how many icons and which ones) and whether you can still get into twrp.

Okay, so when I press Volume Down + Power, I enter the bootloader. The bootloader has three icons: RCK, Android Logo, Wipe Data. I have no access to TWRP since there is a unrecoverable bootloader error 0x0000000 when I try to enter RCK.

The odds are slim but let's try a couple of things.
From power off, hold power and volume down, release when you see the icons. You should see the entering fastboot message in the upper left.
fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot bootloader
if that fails
Power off and use the same procedure.
fastboot reboot bootloader
Tell me the result.

Okay, I tried both and it doesn't work without adding a hyphen in between reboot and bootloader so reboot-bootloader. Otherwise, with the hyphen added, both work.

Sorry for that mistake. Now try rck and let's see if the bootloader is now accepted. If we are lucky the result has changed.

Eh...I don't really know how to explain this but this is what happened. Once the bootloader rebooted after entering the CMD command, I pressed volume up to access RCK and there was a "blink" and there is now a green glowing square around the Android Icon. I cannot move the volume up or down (it is frozen on the Android Icon with the green square glowing), so I don't know what that "blink" was. If i try to press volume up now there is the bootloader error again.

Download the 10.4.2.20 stock firmware. Unzip once and rename the resulting zip EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip. Place this on your external sdcard and boot into your bootloader. Volume up on RCK.

Uh!
Tell me what 2.5 JB version is.
Unzip 10.6.1.8 stock firmware twice and place the blob file into the directory with adb and fastboot. Boot into the bootloader and don't press anything.
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob
fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot
if the command fails try again without -i 0x0B05

When you say 2.5 JB version...are you talking about TWRP? I don't think TWRP is on the tablet because I can't access it. All I saw was a blink when I pressed volume up on RCK, not TWRP? I have tried flash system blob before I posted here and it did nothing. There is no progress bar when fastboot flashing =/ I think it froze. Yup it froze, just tried to do fastboot reboot-bootloader and it said failed. Also, after the system was done writing, after 2 seconds it said complete so it didn't work.

I understood about twrp and flashing system blob but I thought we had been able to get stock recovery working instead of twrp.
I 'm sorry that is all I have with no sdcard and no adb.

I have never used the stock recovery so what is it supposed to look like? Is it that dead Android with the battery because that didn't show up? I will try and get an external sd card tomorrow and try it if you think it might work. I have the 4.2 bootloader so are you sure that I should put Version V10.4.2.20 and recover using that version? Anyways, if it ends up not working, I would just like to say thank you very much for trying.

Manual JB update. Soft-bricked my TF300T?

Hi ppl!
First, my device failed to get the OTA Update because I deleted some system apps (see my original post).
Then I found this post where another user restored original APKs in /system/apps and managed to manually update to JB by downloading the dlpkgfile in this post.
So I proceed, restored my /system/apps (with 755 permissions), rooted with OTA RootKeeper and SuperSU, placed the dlpkgfile and command files, restarted to fastboot (Power+Vol Down) and entered Recovery mode.
The green android with the blue progress bar went for over 10 minutes, then ... the android with the RED TRIANGLE appeared
After a minute or so the device restarted, an ASUS logo with a blue progress bar ran, but then it got stuck in the ASUS logo.
I'm still able to restart to fastboot (Power+Vol Down), where a message appears:
Code:
Android cardhu-user bootloader (1.00 e) released by "US_epad-10.4.2.9-20120809" A03
, and where I have 4 choices:
1. RCK: Recovery mode, when I select this the Red Triangle appears again.
2. Android: Normal android boot, gets freeze right away
3. Fastboot USB download protocol: Tried using ADB, but don't really know what it is. Here's an image of how the device appear in my Windows PC
4. Wipe Data: Already done this, seems to wipe user data, but still gets stuck on ASUS logo
Some pictures I took of my device: http://imgur.com/I13ou http://imgur.com/Jezpn
I also tried downloading .30 firmware from ASUS website and placing the Zip contents in my SD card, then booting recovery but no luck.
It's pretty awful that everything went so bad, I'm hoping there is a solution.
Anything would be really appreciated!!!
Thanks!

OK, I found this tutorial about flashing ASUS firmware with fastboot: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-restore-asus-transformer-tf300t-back-to-stock/
The problem is that the following commands:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system US_epad-user-9.4.3.30.zip
both produce the error: "Signature mismatch"
I guess it's becaus my fastboot is newer version, since it was actually installed during the JB update, but I'm trying to flash a older .30 firmware.
I gues I will have to wait ASUS releases the new firmware for manual flashing it.
Just guessing...

AFAIK you should still have access to fastboot, I'm newbie and never messed up by unlocking the bootloader

hmm, I lost my tablet for nearly a month then updated CM10 when prompted having connected to my new wireless. This of course (since the Oct update) put the ROM out of kilter with the bootloader. I didn't have an old ROM on the SDCARD, and old CWM so I couldn't mount an external to get a rom on. I tried pushing a rom to the SD with adb but the drivers weren't going in right and I just couldn't get any joy. I followed this thread to fastboot the current stock JB on in the hope that it would give me a fresh start but it's hanging now at the second (glossy) ASUS logo. I really don't know where to go from here. Is it possible there was a problem with the write?

Can you tell me how you erased memory from boot menu - or maybe i understand this in different way.
I have only bootloop and it boots to CWM where i cannot mount any SD card - not internal not external.
Also Vol down + power doesnt work - there is no option to enter fastboot mode....device just bootloops and then enters CWM...
Tried to push through adb but there is no SD card to copy files. Tried different methods but cannot mount any storage...
Thanks JB update

My PC shows no erros - it does all the steps. But my tablet freezes and that it - it never unfreezes, i need to power it off.
But fastboot and abd commands work - like reboot or boot into bootloader.

[Q] Brickety Brick

I couldn't leave well enough alone and I f'd up somehow trying to flash my pad to 4.2 stock from Cyanogen with TWRP. Now booting thru vol- and power brings up TWRP only. It asks me for a password, which it never has before. I hit cancel and it puts me into home screen. Only ray of hope I see is that ADB still recognizes it and interacts with it. I've tried pushing every ROM I can get my mitts on to the pad. When I try and install it fails after a few seconds. Then the files I just pushed are no longer on /sdcard. I don't have a clue.
Anyone, anyone? Bueller, Bueller...

Make sure you have flashed the correct version of TWRP. as there are three different versions on their website. If you are confident you have flashed correct TWRP version then you may need to downgrade to the previous version of TWRP. I had a similar issue I downgraded to 2.4.4.0 JB build. Hope this helps
"...you may need to downgrade to the previous version of TWRP."
I can't get into fastboot to install an earlier version. I think I'm screwed.
Theoretically I could use TWRP to totally wipe the pad and then ADB to push the system files back on, but... I don't have that kind of tech knowledge and I doubt anyone who doesn't work for ASUS does.
Edit: My mistake. You can use ADB to install TWRP. I'll give it a shot, though I'm pretty damn sure it's a long one.

I don't get three or four icons. It boots directly into TWRP. ADB still recognizes the pad and I can still push files to /sdcard. I tried reflashing the ROM but it fails after just a couple seconds, shuts down and boots back into TWRP.
I'm going to get a flashcard reader today and format my external card FAT32 and see if I can't install a new ROM from that.
im in a different situation
i did a erase system in fastboot
now i can only go to fastboot with preload on it
or
apx
is there any wait i can fix it and bring it back to live
Update: Bought a card reader at local Discount Electronics. Plugged it into my PC and it promptly froze my computer and destroyed my $80 64G sd card. Can't catch a break here. So I need to get another card and reader before I can attempt to install rom from external card.
The card reader is by a company called Zeikos. http://www.amazon.com/electronics/dp/B001T9N0R6 You have been warned.

You will have to reroot but with motochopper that is minor.
Unzip 10.6.1.15.3 till you have a blob file. Place the blob in the directory with fastboot.
Reboot into bootloader and wait for fastboot to start. (watch the upper left of the screen)
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob - wait for the flash to finish then
fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot
Good Luck!

Reboot into the bootloader. If you get into the bootloader cold boot - volume down on the first icon.
If your tablet fails to boot into android go back to the bootloader and reboot into recovery.
I'll wait for your response.

From off state it always boots into TWRP. I stupidly installed an older version on accident. 2.2.2
With your help I was able to boot into fastboot with the adb command. I've run installs of both the ROM and tried an update to TWRP. According to the console everything went fine but when I give it the reboot command nothing happens. Somewhere in there it looses connections with the tablet it seems.

Excuse my noobishness.
I can get into bootloader with the adb reboot bootloader command you gave me
When I go to recovery, RCK right?, it freezes up.
From cold boot it goes directly into TWRP, which asks for a password which it hasn't ever before this mishap.
If I go to android from bootloader and it goes to TWRP as well

The previous link you were provided only works with stock recovery not cwm or twrp.
The 4.2 bootloader (10.6.?.?.?) does not have a usb icon. When you get to the bootloader press no buttons and wait for notification in the upper left - entering fastboot.

i cant even flash the twrp into the tablet
i try blob and img
it wont work
i try the version is the 2.5......4.2.blob or img
it just got no luck at all
thx thx thx
Sounds like you flashed the incorrect twrp for your bootloader, flashing a non-4.2 twrp on a 4.2 bootloader can cause a fastboot flash brick.
Here's a little info about the changes from a 4.1 to a 4.2 bootloader as there have been quite a few bricks here over the last few months.
Still not sure of the exact issue here but seems there was a change in some or all of the partition tables with the 4.2 bootloaders for both 10.6.1.8 & 10.6.1.15.3 and as a result after updating to 4.2 and then flashing TWRP (non-4.2 version) or CWM recovery would give the following outcome when you boot to recovery.
TWRP would ask for a password on boot, you can hit cancel but are left not being able to mount any partition including external apart from possible system.
CWM was the same, unable to mount any partition.
The device will now also likely boot strait to recovery, and if you have not wiped system you will now have to cold boot andriod from now on.
Now the bad part - In about 90% of cases flashing TWRP (non-4.2 version) or CWM would also result in a fastboot flash brick, meaning that some other fastboot commands will work ok, however any fastboot flash command will look to go ok on the command prompt but you will no longer get the blue progress bar on the tablet and nothing will flash to the tablet. So your either stuck with the current os and have to cold boot or if you wiped your system your just stuck.
Only solution so far to this issue is to replace your motherboard. Here's a thread on the issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2179874
And thus the -4.2 versions of TWRP were made for the 4.2 bootloaders
JB 4.2 bootloaders require the -4.2 versions of twrp
- JB 4.2.1 - 10.6.1.8 = twrp 2.4.4.0-4.2
- JB 4.2.1 - 10.6.1.15.3 = twrp 2.5.0.0-4.2
So if you do not get the blue progress bar on tablet when running a fastboot flash command then sorry to say you have the fastboot flash brick.
There are many many threads/posts on this issue with the above info but still people are not reading, bricking there tablets and creating duplicate upon duplicate threads on this issue, so please look through the threads first, read, read and read some more and if still not sure ask as many questions as you need.
Hope this helps explain what has happened and why the fastboot flash command freezes your tablet.
ok thx for everyone that give a great advice
i just change a new motherbooard
and now the tablet is in a unroot and unlock
i just want a instruction on how to do the unlock and root correctly
i read so many post

[Q] Nexus 5 stuck on boot, and wont go into recovery help?

Well, I was using an app called screen dimmer, and did pressed the button to dim the screen when all of a sudden it froze. It was like this for a while so I restarted it, it is able to go in fastboot, but nothing else. When i start It it hangs on the boot loader screen and can stay like that all day. if I go into recovery the screen goes black and the display is only backlit. I was going to try to to use the adb to factory reset it, but I could not get it to recognize the nexus 5 as a device. I used a bunch of different drivers. I did root my phone, and have the exposed framework but this was done a long time ago and I had no problems since. no idea how to fix this any help?!?!? Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this I'm new to this site.

You need to find a driver that works so it'll recognize the device. Once you do this, you need to flash boot.img to restore the recovery since not working. Then, redo the ROM or restore from backup if you can. Flashing a new recovery boot.img should fix the issue.

Hi, In first place, You are in the right place to get help:good:
2. ADB won't work on fastboot nor in a damaged recovery.
3. fastboot works:victory: Try to flash recovery once again (fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img)
4. if 3 works, wipe system, caches. Flash the Rom you want, don't use that app anymore.

There is a chance to keep your data + storage contents. If you manage to flash and boot into recovery, in 'wipe' menu manually check-mark "cache, system"
don't mark internal "storate and data", nothing will happen to your media and apps data.

May be able to dirty flash but most likely, since you had the screen dimmed too much, you'll have to wipe data in order to override/remove the problem. You can try this way but may just send you back through this whole process if problem reoccurs. I'd just wipe the data to be safe.

No, and if you had done your homework you would know that. If the data is so important, back it up before modding.

The general idea is that your recovery is broken.
So, you need to flash a new recovery by placing a recovery.img file into your fastboot folder in the computer(recommend twrp). Like you did the first time you fladhed a recovery.
Then, turn off the phone, press volume down+ power button and it will boot into bootloader. Make sure it is on fastboot mode. After that, on the computer open cmd on the fastboot folder and and type:
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecoveryfile.img,
press enter.
It should flash a new recovery image if done correctly. Then, poweroff the phone, boot again into bootloader, choose recovery and it will reboot into recovery. Then follow. The steps of my first post.

You have a couple of options depending on how much data you can afford to lose on your phone. The least intrusive is to adb push a Rom on to your phone when you're in twrp Then flash that rom in twrp
The easier, but you'll lose all data on your phone is to flash the flash-all.bat file in fastboot

Stuck on boot screen

I may have bricked, want to know what went wrong and if it's permanent. Thanks, here's how it happened.
I was running one of the Omnirom nightly builds. I got a notification saying there was a new build, I decided to try it hoping it would improve my battery life. I had TWRP installed so I thought it would be ok (I chose to let it update automatically which I guess was my mistake). It did the update or tried to at least, but when it tried to boot it just gets stuck on the Asus screen. The one with the loading bar. Volume up or down with power button does nothing but get back to the same screen. Reset (using a pin) and volume up or down does the same thing. I thought the only way to permanently boot was doing the wipe option on the recovery menu, but maybe I am wrong. Is it possible to permanently brick doing what I did? Thanks. Any possible solutions?

Unlikely. What always works, if you can put it into fastboot, is install the Asus stock ROM. That will reformat/reinstall every partition.

My bootloader is unlocked, unless I am misunderstanding what you're saying. On the Asus screen it says this device is unlocked. Not sure why I can't access any of the options though, unless my volume buttons is busted or something.

First step: Install new TWRP
1. Download TWRP recovery from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/tf300t; I would advise v. 2.8.4.0
2. Put 'openrecovery-twrp-2.8.3.0-tf300t.blob' in fastboot folder of pc and rename to twrp.blob for faster typing.
3. Put tab in fasboot mode and connect.
4. Use command
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash staging twrp.blob[enter]
fastboot -i 0x0b05 reboot[enter]
5. Let tab reboot to OS (will stay on ASUS screen, because you don't have OS as of now).
6. Reboot to bootloader screen and go to recovery (RCK); now you can flash any custom ROM you like.
Good luck!

No! Recovery comes way after fastboot mode. Recovery is loaded from your memory card. But something went wrong with your memory card, so you can't load that.
Once you booted your tablet into fastboot, type :"fastboot devices" on your PC. If it shows your tablet, you can easily flash a new ROM.

Once you booted your tablet into fastboot, type :"fastboot devices" on your PC. If it shows your tablet, you can easily flash a new ROM.
Click to collapse
I would like to know how you are going to flash a new rom with fastboot ?
Thx Josh
