JellyBomb ROM - General Questions and Answers

Im having issues flashing the JellyBomb 15.3 Rom, hoping someone can help me. I am rooted. When i flash it from TWRP and it completes the flash it ask for superuser permission. I grant it and it reboots. It looks like its rebooting with the animated screen and then my Note 2 screen goes black and does nothing else.I let it sit for 15 mins and still nothing. I am able to pull the battery and Restore my backup...Am i doing something wrong?

I had this problem with CM10.1 on my sgs2. keep calm, it's easy.
If you can boot your phone normally, boot it then connect it to pc and search for jelly bean GAPPS.
1Download JB gapps then put them in your SD card in the folder in which you have the zip for jelly bomb rom.
2Reboot in recovery do a full wipe for user data/cache/dalvik cache and install the ROM and GAPPS.
3When it finishes installing the phone should reboot normally.
Now, if your phone can't boot normally and you don't have a backup, remove your SD card and put it in an adaptor or in another phone and connect it to the PC. this way you can transfer the GAPPS and ROM in the SD card if the phone is not working. now do the no2 above and it should work.
hit thanks if i helped and good luck

thanks for the reply...I tried to flash it last nite again and it worked fine. I ran into another issue. I downloaded titanium app to restore all my apps and data. when the restore completed it asked to reboot. I rebooted and after the jellybomb boot animation, the screen went black again and im forced to do a battery pull and restore my backup rom. might there be something in my titanium backup that is causing this?

Help please phone stuck in Dexter's logo

I have a serious problem! URGENT HELP please.
I did a clean factory because my phone was very slow. I have the V1.3 Dexters, patch 1 and 2, before restoring to factory settings nandroid I made a copy, a copy mybackup pro, and another with Titanium backup pro. After re-establish and restore the backup, everything worked fine, but soon the telephone began again to be slow.
By restoring the factory settings was not sure whether the patches were to be or not, ie had the doubt if I had to install again, well, after restoring the backup, I went into recovery mode and installed the patch again 1 ..... and my phone stopped working, when I restarted indicating left hundreds of sales each of the applications "forced closure."
I tried entering recovery mode to put it back to factory defaults, however it did not work, got stuck on the logo of Dexter's Froy.
When reset to factory mode patches are always installed or I have to reinstall? I ask this because after restoring the backup, would not let me move the applications to the SD, the re-established applications in the phone's internal memory, not the SD (which was before) and I tried to reinstall both patches.
Summary
By restoring the backup, he did everything, but applications that were in the SD, were installed in internal memory.
Newly installed Patch 1 and could not enter, indicating that there was a problem and ought to shut off.
I went into recovery mode, factory settings and was in Dexter's logo. Remove the battery and still remains in the logo.
What I can do now that he has been in the logo?
When restored to factory settings, patches are installed?
Thanks
If restoring your nandroid fails (or yields unsatisfactory results) I would restore a fresh copy of Dexter's 1.3 (Wipe data / Factory reset) & then apply Mioze7Ae's v3 update. Then grab your backup app from the market & restore what's missing.

Thanks for your answer, the big problem I have is that you get stuck on the logo of Dexters, and pressing the volume key gallery and enters recovery mode, but only gives me three options, apply update, restore to factory data A partition.
I do not know what to do, yes I made a copy before installing nandroid dexter rom, but to apply update tells me there's an error, practically does not let me do anything. I am currently downloading 4.9 and firmware RSDLite USA +. sbf I do not know if that can do something...
Hold in the volume up while turning on the device to get back in to OpenRecovery. I believe the key combinations your trying takes you to Motorola's recovery.

I say go clean install here 2.1.1 to 2.2.1 to v3 use Khal's it's Stable and fast!
Use nandroid for back up.
Install apps to EXT partition if you dont want to loose them.
Our setup is too custom to use backup apps.

THANKS! Very Grateful! I did what you told me, turn the volume up button and entered into openrecovery, I applied the patch 3, and the phone is working properly. Really very grateful, I was scared, and had already prepared my old palm center.

Thanks for your response, this means that the backups do not apply the applications that are in SD?
The patches remain after reestabler to factory settings?
Now that I have installed the patch 3, if I wanted to restore to factory settings I have to re-install the patches?

I think the patch remains in effect after a factory reset, no need to reapply the patch.

MikRom Bootlooping on evo shift - HELP!!

This just started yesterday and i cant stop it. My phone reboots and says that memory is nearly full, then goes into a bootloop. I cant stop it long enough to back up texts, phone contacts and call log which is REALLY important; is there a way to back that up through recovery?
i'm really desperate here!
Edit: I can get the phone working through a format, but i need to be able to get contacts and sms backed up
Alternitavely, is there a way to run a clockword mod backup on an android emulator on my comp, so i can back up my important stuff?
what you should try doing is putting your sd card directly into your computer and delete stuff you don't need to get back so memory and then once you do that out it back into your phone
i cleared up the memory, internal and external. the stupid ROM is still broken
if its just the rom go to a different one and redownload mikrom later to make sure nothing happened in the initial download
If you haven't already, try removing some apps through adb, then reflash the ROM only wiping dalvik and cache. You shouldn't lose any of your text, call logs or contacts if you don't wipe data.

I love it sooooo the rom isnt stupid, the team of developers supporting it are amazing and you should setup adb and get a logcat, also you should nandroid before you flash so in case it goes wrong you can flash back, like insurance but you actually get something from this without paying..
if you did nandroid boot into bootloader and select recovery (hold volume down and power on use volume button to highlight recovery and power button to select)
I'm not sure if mikrom wipes or not but there's always that advanced restore option in cwm recovery flash rom, restore data and sd-ext if you have a ext partition with important data on it.

Did you ever get this fixed?
The usual way of fixing this is formatting /system, wiping dalvik, wiping cache, and reflashing the rom.

no. what i did was a backup, complete factory reset, wipe, dalvik wipe, etc - several times each, including a full on sd-card format, which took me hours to reload everything back on - and then reflashed MikShift. It worked fine for about a day, but then it started to go into bootloops again, so i again did a backup, full reset and all wipes, and restored data only to the new flash of mikshift. Once again its bootlooping.
LOG: ive been off the forums for several months, how do i get this log?
IMAGE: When i go into bootloader and enter recovery, it shows me a message in green text
"PG06diag.zip

At this point, im ready to RUU back to factory unrooted, so i can take it back to sprint and get it replaced.
I should not need to reflash the ROM every single day.

OK
0) Run a backup with titanium backup.
1) First of all go to clockwork -> mounts storage -> FORMAT /SYSTEM.
2) Wipe /cache, wipe dalvik, wipe/data, factory reset, repartition sd card.
3) Redownload the rom or try a proven ROM like UKE or CM7-255. If AOSP MAKE SURE TO FLASH GAPPS.
NO NEED TO RUU.
4) DO NOT RESTORE YOUR BACK UP. See how stable the phone runs.
5) If the phone is still unstable try a different battery.
6) Do not flash a custom kernel.
i formatted my backup SD card, and copied the essential data to it, and i have it running in the phone now. it seems to be running fine so far, i suspect the other SD may have gotten corrupt or physically damaged
Vic: every single time this has happened, i first went to clear the data and dalvik caches and ran a factory reset, all through the CWM recovery interface. Then when i reinstall mikshift, i restore the data using advanced restore, wait 24-48 hours, bootloops start all over again.
after two days of running on the new sd card, i start getting bootloops again. it must be a problem with the phone or the OS, but at this point i dont care anymore.
Is there a guide to RUU back to stock unroot? this phone is going back to sprint by weeks end, period.
thanks for the help folks.

Here's the 2.2 RUU zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971550 Just put it on the root of sd, boot in hboot and let it do its thing.
Or you can run the RUU exe, just download and run from your pc. It's pretty self explanatory http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335068

I believe that you have a bootloop... Can you tell us what is your bootloader version or firmware version? What is your TWRP version also? You may need to wipe your system to get it up and running again...
Thx LetMeKnow,
I'm using twrp 2.6.1.0. Bootloader number is 10.6.1.14.10-20130601.
When you tell about a wipe, full wipe with full install of the rom again? I will have to do a backup, data only is enough for apps installed?
thx

Your TWRP and firmware are good... I think that your data partition is corrupted and these are my suggestions..
1. In your TWRP, go to Advance and file manager, copy all your personal stuff to your external SD so you will not loose them when you format your data partition.
2. In your TWRP, do a nandroid backup of system, data, and boot
3. Try this first, Wipe everything except your system and your external SD and reboot...:fingers-crossed: If your device is up and running then it is telling you that you have a data partition corruption.. So your data backup from TWRP is useless..
4. If step 3 did not work, then your system is corrupted..You may want to do these.
--Format your data partition
--Wipe everything except your external SD
--Reinstall Cromi x and reboot so you a totally clean installion...
--Now you can restore your data backup and hope that it is not corrupted
--Good luck ....:fingers-crossed:

It's not a bootloop if he's stuck on the boot animation. If it keeps booting back - then yes, but getting stuck on the boot animation has happened to me numerous times (and always when I was on a Hund's kernel - sorry LMK, but Hund's just doesn't work on my tab), which a simple Factory Reset (the default option in the TWRP "Wipe" menu) took care of.
If that doesn't work, then yes - you will have to format data.

The only way to diagnose the cause of "stuck at boot animation" (i.e. to gain insight instead of trying random things involving data loss) is to read the logcat.
Hello guys
Thx for all these infos. Finallly, it was the data...
Just before your answers, I've tried a wipe of cache and dalwik cache. Android's apps updated, and stuck again on logo animation.
So I've tried to update to 5.2a, with no format of data, the same arrived.
I've reinstalled the 5.2a with full wipe, and now it's ok (I will have to do it again, some options unselected are finally necessary. I will go back on 5.1.2 one if no update of 5.2a in the week.)
How can the data be corrupted? I remember, I've had installed an apk from googleplay, this apk can be faulty?
Thx

TF700 with Chrimi-x 5.2a
Hi Guys,
First post. I installed Chromi x 5.2a to my TF700 and it was working great.
I was looking at the options and it said I was using the 4.1 JB theme but I could switch to 4.2 Theme of JB. I did, and when my tablet restarted, I get a black screen and a bunch of errors once in a while.
Is there a way I can change it back to 4.1? I can't access the OS only TWRP.
Thanks!

Weird. I would re-flash the rom. It installs to the 4.1 launcher by default - but something is off... That shouldn't have happened.

Xperia mini issue - recovering from boot loop - how to recover data

Ok, so I asked this in XDA Assist but can't post reply there.
This is what happened on my Xperia mini St15i, with firmware 4.1.B.0.587:
1. I turned on Bluetooth and the phone got stuck in infinite boot loop - apparently this is a known bug.
2. I decided to try out CM 9. Installed CWM Recovery and did backup on sd card and flashed CM.
3. I remembered that I did the backup earlier so I thought maybe there is a way to keep my apps and data.
4. I went back to CWM and restored from backup. CM didn't boot then, so I flashed back stock rom with flashtool and booted the phone. The apps and data was there( at least for one app which was very important), but contacts and messages were gone.
So my question is, is there a way to recover ALL user data from the backup? I don't care if it's on stock rom or CM at this point.
I hope some of you knowledgeable people can help!
Many thanks,
Paul
Can someone please help. :crying:
I managed to restore it with all the data by trial and error (I don't know HOW). Then at night the phone lost battery and is back to rebooting forever.
If I restore all via CWM and then flash stock, it boots up saying "Android is upgrading" and then keeps rebooting.
If I do a factory reset via CWM and flash stock rom, the phone is back to factory setting with no data.
WHICH partitions should I recover and which should I flash to retain the data??? HELP :crying:

TWRP Restore Data and/or System = Bootloop

Something happened to my phone and I succeeded to flash it all new with Android 9.0 which I was on.
But when I try restore twrp backup (data and/or System) I always end up with bootloop.
Tried to reflash Magisk too but doesn't help.
Bootloops right back to TWRP after 2 minutes.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get my data back from the twrp backup?
Tried to official twrp and bmu_sparks.
Thanks.

After restore is complete do not reboot, try the following, it might work,
1-Do not do any wipe,
2-Flash exactly the same ROM which is backed up,
3-Flash twrp,
4-Reboot twrp.
5-Flash Magisk,
8-Reboot system,
In case you are trying to go back from pie to oreo you have to flash roll back rom.
All the best, hope this helps., cheers.
Have tried all that with no luck. But if I do a Factory reset any time after the data restore the phone works but then I dont have any data
This sucks big time.
Have installed all from scratch. Luckly fastboot was working all the time
Some data I could restore with Titanium Backup but not so much I needed/wanted.
Too bad we cant rely on TWRP and its backup/restore feature.

Using TWRP backups on this phone is fun but not impossible. This process works for me.
1. Store backups on something other than the phone (I use an OTG card reader and 128 GB SD card)
2. Use a Fastboot Rom of THE EXACT SAME ROM as the backup and let it do it's thing flashing the phone (it will also wipe the phone in the process, which is why you need to store the backup elsewhere)
3. Boot up the phone and go through the whole process of setting it up. Don't worry about installing all your apps.
4. Install TWRP and Magisk if you used it on the backup.
5. Now restore your TWRP backups - just restore system, data, and boot.
I have done this at least 100 times and it has always worked.
I presume the fastboot rom is not only gonna wipe the internal drive but will also lock the bootloader, thats a lot of hassle to do every time you want to restore, but thanks for your suggestions, cheers.

The fastboot rom wipes the internal drive but DOES NOT lock the bootloader. Besides, I haven't seen or heard of another way to use TWRP backups without decrypting the phone, and I have security concerns with decrypting the phone.

ohh ok, I thought it locks it but thanks for the info, yes thats why I decrypted my device, lets hope in this thread we could find a easy way out to restore sucessfully while encrypted, have you tried just backing up boot, system and data and than restoring it ? cheers

Yes I tried. Without the fastboot rom to reset everything that stupid encryption bites you in the butt.
Yep. I just restored an entire nandbackup, and now my phone boots to a quailcomm dump screen only, can't fastboot into recovery or anything. Guess my new plans tonight involve fixing this thing.
I also got a bootloop after restoring 8.1 android with twrp 3.3.1 by nemo nemo on my leagoo xrover.
factory reset and wiping everything exept microsd card didnt help...
thanks for some help

After restore is complete do not reboot, try the following, it might work,
1-Do not do any wipe,
2-Flash exactly the same ROM which is backed up,
3-Flash twrp,
4-Reboot twrp.
5-Flash Magisk,
8-Reboot system,
In case you are trying to go back from pie to oreo you have to flash roll back rom.
All the best, hope this helps., cheers.
