I can RMA it, but it takes so long to get it back. I have used an RUU for the HTC Desire Z back in time where it seemed bricked. Is this where the SKU files come in for ASUS machines?
I welcome any suggestion!

Are you positive that holding the power key and volume down button for about ten seconds don't go into the bout loader?

Not possible to turn on

I recieved my TF700 yesterday, tried to start it up but shut down immediatly.. Charged it some but took it out again to plug it into another outlet.. I charged it until the LED became green, but neither a power og vol- and power will turn it on, any things to try before sending it in again?

Try press the power button for 5-7 seconds to see whether it starts up. This might work.
I had to hold my power button a full 10 seconds! I was sure I had gotten a brick! But it's been fine since. I would also recommend you avoid the temptation to use it right away and give it a full 8 hour charge first.
Yeah i have tried that, have tried for a minute also, nothing
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Is the power really still on? What happens if you connect it to the PC/MAC via USB? If power is off, I think sometimes you don't need to hold the button too long in fact I remember getting multiple vibration as you explained but instead of holding for too long I just held for couple seconds and it turned on.
Nothing of the usual works, just thought if there was a button combo to do a full wipe, other than power and vol down
Nothing happens when plugging into pc

No, there is no magical combination, although you might give the reset hole a shot before RMA'ing your unit.

not charging?
I bought a 32 gb tf700 from Best Buy. Decided I needed a 64 gb instead so returned that one and ordered a 64 gb. Got that - charged for 8 hrs and it would not turn on - tried all the resets/methods that I could find on the web. I returned it to Best Buy and ordered another. Got that in and the same thing. Would not turn on for anything. I then realized that the wall connector was not warm (it was very warm when I was charging the 32 gb tf700 which worked fine). I also ordered a dock/keyboard so I plugged that in and it indeed did charge so it was not the charger. I connected my tf700 to the dock thinking I could then turn it on - still nothing. The tf is wonderful (based on my experience with the 32 gb tf700). However, I've read numerous posts saying other people have had issues turning their transformer on. Is the quality control by Asus that bad or am I just one unlucky person? Any ideas before I return the tablet and dock to Best Buy and go to a different company's tablet?
Thanks
Eric
Think i was just unlucky, you even more so.. I ordered one with keyboard instead, works great!

Randomly Shuts Off / Won't Reboot

I've had my TF300 for a few months now. It's been unlocked since day one, and is currently running CM10 stable (probably going to try a 10.1 Nightly today). Recently it has been randomly shutting down. No warning or anything, I'll just be watching a video or browsing the web and boom, it's off. Screen is black and everything.
This wouldn't be THAT bad but it doesn't automatically reboot, and it's very difficult to get it to boot back up. I've tried holding the power button for over a full minute, every combination of vol+ and power and vol- and power, and most of the time (not every time), nothing seems to do the trick but sticking it on the charger for a while and leaving it alone. Then I'll just hit the power button like normal and it will fire right up. It's done this 3 times now.
So what do you guys think? Hardware or software issue? And despite being unlocked, do you think ASUS would warranty it if I restored the factory image, if it is a hardware issue?
Have you got it overlocked? If so, try turning the tablet down. Watching videos may be too much for the tablet if it's overclocked. Another way to see if it's software or hardware is to switch ROMs and see if it still does it. If so then it very well may be hardware related.
As for the the warranty, from what I understand, Asus will still cover hardware issues even if it's unlocked. I do not know from personal experience, only from what I've read here from other members.

Not overclocked, it was a thought that occurred to me, too, but it's just running the included CM kernel at the stock speeds. I'll give CM10.1 a try tonight and see if that resolves it. Thanks for the advice.
So I think I figured it out. This thing is straight up not reporting battery stats. I let it fully charge last night, and now after unplugging its been at 100% for about an hour of straight use and two (normal) reboots. Tried deleting batterystats.bin but it made no difference. I'm going to run it down and see what happens...
Still no go. It was totally fine until the battery hit about 45%, then shut off and was unresponsive. When I plugged it back in, the light blinked for a few minutes, then I was able to power it up like normal. Has the battery gone bad?
Try Installing STOCK ROM
I have the similar issues with CM10. But it doesn't happen when I am using it(playing games, surfing internet or watching movies).
It happens only when the tab is not being used for more than 2-3 hours. Pressing Power button doesn't do anything and I have to press the power button for at least 1 minutes to get it rebooted.
I installed Stock 10.4.2.18 rooted(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033205) and I don't see that issue anymore.
Now I am trying CleanROM Inheritance 3.0.4(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049322) to see how it goes as it is based on the Stock ROM.
Same exact happened to me yesterday...i was scared for a min or two...it finally booted back and been fine since...im on cleanrom unlocked and rooted no overclock

I have the same problem, and my non-scientific observation leads me to suspect it was worse on the stock ROM. Also, I have this problem where wifi will not work (upon waking the tablet, it says wifi is off, though I had not turned it off), and I have to reboot it in order to get wifi to connect. I don't know if the issues are related.

Keyboard causing tablet to shutdown?

Is anyone having issues with the keyboard causing the tablet to turn off? It's not doing it while I'm using it just when I close it the tablet turns completely off sometimes. I've had the tablet for several weeks and had no issues but just got the keyboard a few days ago and now it has random shutdowns. Example: On break at work I closed my tablet and walked approximately 50ft to my workstation opened it back up to plug in the speakers to listen to Pandora and the tablet was off, not like stuck in sleep mode but completely off had to hold power for 1-2 secs it vibrated and thee boot logo came up. Would like to know if I should contact Asus or if it might just be a bug in the ROM.

Happens to me sometimes, too.
Happens all the time here.
There is a thread about it.
No solution so far.
I have returned my tablet 3 times to my reseller (it's currently in their hands), who RMAed it to Asus once. I have no info about what they've done.
After the last RMA, it took 2 days before the trouble occurred again and it usually occurred after a 10-15mn sleep. After a few days it occurred instantly.
Tablet is full stock, wiped again and again, reflashed, whatever. Full charge, middle charge is the same.
I do hope for a replacement this time.

That's a different problem, I was having having that issue when i was running earlier versions of CleanROM but since the 3.1 update I haven't had that issue. That issue the tablet is frozen or stuck in sleep my issue is the tablet is off completely. But there are are others in that thread posting about having issues similar to mine.

I think the shutdown may caused by a few issues, no don't considered every shutdown is the same. One maybe hardware, one maybe hardware. I suggest to try everything before you ship it back. In my case, I removed my keyboard dock and charge it over night BY ITSELF, then charge your tablet also by itself, put them together then I do a factory reset, then re flash a full Asus firmware. After that I never seen this issue again.
I'll try that when I get the chance but I turned the power save setting for the keyboard on and it stopped shutting down.

I've had my keyboard for a few weeks now. I shut the keyboard and open all the time. I have it so I can wake the tablet with the keyboard. Never had the tablet shutdown by itself. I'm stock, rooted and locked.

[Q] TF700 completely dead and unresponsive

HI guys,
So I'm posting this as a vain last resort hoping that someone has had an issue like this before (and resolved it..)
I've had a tf700 for 6 months now. Never had any major issues with it hardware-wise.
About a month ago I got tired of waiting on Asus to update the firmware (and do something about the dreaded lag) so I unlocked and started using CM10.1 nightlies. Everything was vastly sweeter!
Yesterday, tablet was around 50% charge so I plugged it in for the train ride home. 10 minutes later I went to unlock it and ...nothing..nada...zip.
I figured it had locked up so I tried a soft reset. Then i noticed there was no indicator light even though it was plugged in.
Cue an increasingly desperate sequence of trying ever reset option I could find:
Power for 10, 20, 30, 60 secs... nothing.
Power + down vol... nothing.
Power + up vol... nothing.
Pinhole Reset button... nothing.
Plugged into pc ... nothing (not detected by PC)
Checked the charger was working on the dock ... all OK there.
Tried docking the tablet .. no effect.
Tried charging through the dock ... nothing.
Tried leaving it plugged in overnight... nothing.
Basically, there is no sign of life at all (including charging indicator light).
I'm presuming I'll have to go down the RMA route but thought I'd throw it out there for opinions / suggestions.
Thanks
Orko
Ouch.
When not even the charging light comes up... I think you indeed have an RMA to call in. I'm sorry for your loss.
Today I also have the same problem.
On the train on my way to my work i read my newspaper on my tablet, put it of to go to my work, 10 minutes later when I push the power to put it on, NOTHING.
Long press, even everything listed above, nothing happens even no charging led.
I have put cleanrom on the tablet and that worked fine, no more lag much faster, nog random reboots, but now I don't have any warrenty because it is unlocked.
I am really dissapointed now, buying a new one without unlocking is really no option because the standaard TF700 is way too slow.
700 euro waisted...

Hadn't messed with the stock kernel ... think the firmware was 10.4.4.23
Had you both plugged them in to charge on the train? Could the cause be dirty power frying something in the tablet?

Mine was in my office..... Plugged in to a surge protector for good measure.
I see some painful (and expensive) RMA action in my future
This just happened to me as well. I plugged it in last night, and when I went to use it today... nothing. Completely unresponsive, no charging light indicator or anything. Though mine was completely stock, still locked and un-rooted.
Funny that earlier this morning, I had a crack;ing sound from my unit as well, and it acted up afterward. I ascribed it to fooling around with H's kernel too enthusiastically -- I sincere hope we haven't gotten an epidemic of fried Infinities on our hands. The digital equivalent of the zombie apocalypse. :S
Wow another user pm'ed me yesterday with the exact same issue. Unit just died. No power to boot.
How can 4 people all suffer the same problem in one day???? :silly:

Mine went into a bootloop. I struggled to get out of it, because most of my files reside on the microSD and not on internal storage (some older files and backups live there). I was on data2sd initally, but decided to flash normally to determine the problem (suspecting a damaged partition on the microSD) -- the moment I removed the microSD card, the unit would boot fine, but after inserting it again, bootloop. I only saw the very first ASUS logo, before the revolving circle comes up, for just a few seconds, and reboot -- rinsed and repeated that sequence a few times while I was recovering my jaw from the floor. Whenever I flashed the data2sd mod for CROMI, I was screwed, obviously. I have flashed over a dozen times -- one of the definitions of clinical insanity is repeating behaviour while expecting a different outcome every time. You go figure. Fortunately, it was only temporary (at least, I'd like to think so, thank you!).
In the end, I ended up keeping a normal and perfectly functional install, for I still had the 2.5h commute to home from the night shift -- yes, this was towards the end of a night shift :S -- so I could at least read for a bit.
After fomatting everything yet again -- including giving the microSD a digital meltdown with gParted -- I finally got it working again, although I lost nearly all new data since the last backup. Those were mostly pictures from Reddit (earthp*rn, anyone?) and some TED talks, so while extremely annoying, it's not like I have lost pictures of my children or something...
Whew... It sure was an exciting day. Off to sleep now. G'night, people!
wtf? that is strange indeed. I thought it was just a bad power source but the surge protector post threw me off. that sucks, if there is a digital ghost running around which I wouldnt doubt, better keep your tabs protected. I also have heard my tablet crack and pop a coulpe of times since havig flashed multiple roms and kernels on it but nothing with the on mechanism breaking. maybe try going to one of those electronic fixer upper places nd see if they can open it up and see what components got fried
*Caution with the overclocking to everyone that's trying it.
Download and install an app that keeps an eye on processor temps.
My tablet runs hot OC'ed so I got in the habit of watching out for extremes.
Wel,
My kernel is TF700: Clemsyn 1.5 - 1.8ghz 650GPU Kernel and I use it always on 1.5ghz.
when It happened it was not connected to a charger, I just put it of on the train and tried to put it on 10 minutes later.
I don't do anything special with my tablet, just reading pdf, newspaper, foto's mail and facebook.
I always put it in a pretective sleeve, I always handle it with care.
And now just SUDDEN DEATH the only way I can call it, because I did not do anything special.
I would like to remove the battery, I kinow for smartphones when nothing happens then a removal of the battery helps. But can't do that here.
:crying:
Is there no way you can make the battery empty so it will do a reset ?

TF700 dead
I have the same problem. My infinity is unlocked so the warranty is void. One day it just turned off. It will not charge. No charge light. I've tried everything listed here but nothing. I tried a new charge cable, nothing. I even replaced the battery, still nothing. Disappointing for sure. I guess I'll keep it around until someone finds a cure. I'm gonna have to replace it, but definitely not anything else Asus.
My Infinity died too. After unlocking and rooting, I flashed the cleanrom with the 1,8ghz kernel. Everything was fine when I booted for the first time. Used the balanced profile to start with, but since the device felt very laggy and slow, I tried the normal profile. Didn't help, so I tried rebooting it with the new reboot menu I got on the powerbutton. Then the Infinity died. No charging light, no nothing. I ran it for about 10 min on the balanced, and like 5 min on the normal profile.
Mine died with about 30% battery. I clicked a notification and it went black. No charging light. No USB sound from PC when connected. No vibrate. Nothing. Was about 4 days from bestbuy return window closing. Returned no problem.
It was rooted and running stock kernal and had only been on for a few minutes.

It seems it is happening to people who run the overclocked kernal. So I will probably stay away from all oc kernals over reading this thread because I once had it on my tf700 but will never again. Sorry you guys lost your tablets

[Q] TF700 Will Not power up after battery drain

I was using my TF700 readng a novel when I got a warning about low battery, connect to charger. I did not immediately respond to the warning and the tablet shut off, I ASSUME because of low power. I hooked it up the the charger overnight and the next morning could not get it to boot up. The power indicator is green. I have tried a long hold of the power button, the power button with the up/down volume button, and pressing the reset button. Still nothing on the screen, no vibration, no nothing. I read on another thread where someone said to plug it into an HDMI tv. There is no output from the HDMI port either.
When I connect it to my computer, it is not recognized.
I called ASUS and they have issued a RMA, but tell me I will have to pay because I unlocked the tablet. I did unlock and am (was) running CleanRom 3.4.1 DEODEX. Anything else I can try befoe biting the bullet and shipping it off to ASUS? This tablet is only a month old.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi cloverkid!
Have you found a soulution for your problem?
I have an similar problem. I installed ubuntu 12.10 beside cyanogenmod 10.1. During the installation I fall asleep. The next morning I startet the tablet and booted into ubuntu. After I clicked enter the screen went black. Since then nothing funktions. Only the charging LED is orange or green after charging.
I hope anyone is having a solution. If not, I will send it to ASUS.

I couldn't get anything to work, so I went ahead and sent it in to ASUS after getting an RMA and being told I might have to pay for the repair because of the unlocked bootloader. Got an email Friday that it was being shipped out FEDEX, didn't say anything about a charge. I am waiting for a deliver in the next couple of days.
Good Luck

I called ASUS tech support, they went through some diagnostics (power on for 30+ seconds, power and vol. up, power and vol. down. It would not boot (I already knew that). They asked asked for serial number and gave RMA with the warning about the unlocking.
I shipped to them, and now I'm waiting for the return.
Now I'm waiting on FEDEX

It isn't unlocked and the unlocked apk won't work. I got a note from another board telling me that the motherboard was probably switched out and now the id of the CPU doesn't match the serial number that was on file with ASUS....S U C K S
"They probably switched the motherboard. This means that the CPU ID doesn't match the serial number anymore, which means that the unlock app can't get the correct unlock token. It can also mean that your device don't get any OTA firmware updates..."
