red lettering. htc one x - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello
I have a HTC One X, and I have red-letting with the developmental things. I want to get rid of it. I will go to stock rom if I have to. I have CM10. S-OFF. Bootloader is unlocked. Can someone please help? Thanks

Click Redpoint73's resource compilation in my signature. Everything you need's in there. Except common sense to search, that, you should already have.

It's just a matter of flashing a custom hboot since you're s-off. The link is in redpoint's index.

Or you could have searched....

It is strange how these trends just come out of nowhere. Everybody wants to remove red text all of a sudden. Red is such a pretty color.

Makes me feel impotent, red text telling me I'm a developer.

Wait....he is s off, but no red texted removed? He can do one thing, but not the other...strange.

Dangerous.

Why would go back to a stock ROM over some red lettering that only shows for a few seconds. Makes no sense

Custom splash screens...

I noticed Evo lte has custom splash screens that hide the red HTCdev message. Think this method would workforus? If so we need to get our splash on!

From what I see the Evo LTE uses the same partition for the splash screen as the One X so I'd say there method would work for us.

Thanks.. Maybe i'll get the nerve to try it. I bricked the other day doing simple stuff i didnt think would matter...It did matter! Tried to install CWM through the recovery manager app. No warnings or nothing. Said it installed correctly. Reboot and i'm in emergency download mode.. Bricked
So, who wants to be a brave soul and try it?

Your custom boot image would need to have a red background where the text appears to actually 'hide' the HTCDev boot message.

Development will thrive when S-OFF starts, I know I might try making a ROM if we get S-OFF, only reason I'm not doing it now is because I don't want to render my warranty void.

Has HTC gave S-off to any of their other devices? I really don't think it will happen.
Don't want to jump in too much. But I had to at least say something. I'm curious what you mean when you say s=off will increase development... We will get more accomplished or attract more developers? Either way we said that for... Many, many months with the amaze... When we finally got s =off its been several months since and there has been no increase in development. Only one example but it was enough for me to think that's not the answer that we need
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
HTC definitely won't give S-OFF. We will probably get it eventually, though. Getting it will not directly make more ROMs, but it will certainly make more people root their devices, which probably will lead to more ROMs.

Not trying to discourage you from building roms but that's just a lame excuse for not doing so now. Do you really think HTC warranty terms will change when we get s-off? Again, lame!

Oh ok thats relocked vs locked. I never had any problems though returning my one s with relocked bootloader but I had to return to T-Mobile and not HTC. Not sure if HTC is strict and checks everything.
I have a one s running viper 1.2 and its amazing on the one s great battery life and performance. This weekend I unlocked and installed the one x viper rom on my big brothers one x and my one s feels way speedier. The one x feels uncomfortable in my hands and looks bulky while the one s is sexy and packed with power. Just wish there was a bit more development for the one s.

Maybe some devs could contact him and help him extract the bootloader? Is there a posibility for us to use it then?

No, even though he might have the S-OFF One S, you don't. The permissions are still the same and you won't be able to edit anything on YOUR device. You guys still need to find a method, nothing has changed.

[Q] Does anyone have the black T-Mobile One S? What's the hboot version?

So I was considering selling my Silver/Blue gradient T-Mobile One S to purchase a Black T-Mobile MOA One S and I got to thinking...
Does anyone have this new official T-Mobile Black One S? Not a modified gradient version or an International version being used on T-Mobile.
I'm curious.. What is the hboot version on this new T-Mobile MOA Black One S? I currently have the 1.09 hboot on my gradient blue and I can flash radio/boot from recovery.
I'm assuming this new version of the One S is going to have the 1.14 or higher hboot but I'd still like to find out from someone who actually has the device.
Bump.. nobody knows?
I have the new black one s. Don't know the hboot, but I'm stock unrooted so whatever the hboot for any s4 will be the same out the box

I'm with you on that and well too be honest even on hboot .14 I don't miss it being lower, thanks to programs like Flash Image Gui flashing kernels and recoveries besides not downgrading radio I'm really not missing out on much. People seem to get stuck up on this for some bizarre reason.

Help me please HTC One x Dead

Hi I have a OX AT&T. I followed a tutorial yesterday. will install the recovery and achieve all good .. after the wipes and install the rom .. when I did reboot. is to become the cel off. no LED light or charge or anything I read you had to let him connected all night and nothing ..
Now the creator of the tutorial said that was only for international HTC and not for at&t.
someone please help me with my phone. I was only 3 days with my new phone and this happens to me :crying:
If you flashed a international ROM , I'm pretty sure that bricks your phone.
You may be out of luck.

Firmware, hboot, what recovery you flashed what Rom you flashed ect..etc...
Chances are you have a paperweight but at least it looks good

It's the One XL firmware number. If you were on the most recent version, 2.20, there is no current fix for your predicament. If you were on anything earlier, you may be able to unbrick using the method in the Unbricking Evita thread.
If he had an att one x and it was 4.03 it has to be lower than 2.20 the 4.04 update came with 2.20
You could always try claiming you took one of their ota's and it killed the phone. Did that to sprint and got free replacement.

[Q] 4.2.2 update with Sense 5+

I did a search, but couldn't find a definitive answer to this question:
When the official ATT update comes out with 4.2.2 and Sense 5+, is there a danger in accepting the update with my phone in its present state?
Thanks,
Dan
Phone information:
HTC One X (AT&T version)
ROM: Stock 4.1.2 (from the HTC RUU site - I never got the OTA update)
Rooted
S-Off
TWRP 2.3.3.1
HBOOT-2.14.0000
Thanks for your help!
No as you have custom recovery. Just wait for a rooted flashable zip.

Like all of these rumors, I'll believe it when I see it. I'ts completely without risk for someone to say these things are going to happen - if they DO, those people look like geniuses, and if they don't, no one calls them on it.
Nevermind I'll restrain myself.

HTC themselves did say they intend to update the one x to 4.2.2 sense 5 BUT technically, I don't believe they specified the dual core version so who knows.
HTC is Great with build quality and design but they are SO SLOW with updates. by the time Sense 5 comes out it will probably be time for a new phone anyway.

You should consider any update offered by HTC as a moderate to high risk to a modded phone or a phone you want to mod.
HTC do not support a phone once it has been modded.
Any update may brick your device, prevent you unlocking, rooting, modding etc.
That said with supercid and soff the risks are reduced but not eliminated. Any update expects your phone to be stock, if it is not any amount of unknown things could go wrong.
If/when an update comes out you should only accept the update if you are willing to accept a bricked device. The risk reduces if others are saying they succeeded, but sometimes it takes time before it is fully clear of any quirks to updating. Eg JB with supercid on s-on AT&T devices caused many lost devices.

I doubt you could fathom the amount of time and work that goes into rom development. Many roms are developed by teams. imagio is one person, let's not create any more pressure than the pressure he puts on himself. That's how you push someone into stopping development. If you really want to push him to do timely updates the best way is with frequent, large donations.
Twistedddx, while your post is 100% accurate, I think it's pretty safe to assume that it will fall on deaf ears for the type of people within this community. Personally, while this phone is just perfect as it is right now, a brick is just the perfect reason to upgrade lol
