So I just got a new phone and would like to turn my infuse into a mini tablet for my toddler son. The only limitation I can think of would be the emergency dialer.
How would I go about disabling it? I tried Google and the forum search here and have gotten no results. I am hoping one of you awesome developers know exactly where in the programing that function is located so I can delete it and give my kid a fun little toy loaded with educational and fun games.
Thank you all in advance for reading this over and for any help you can give.

You could try deleting the dialer apk itself. It's in /system/app. I'm not entirely sure if that will completely disable emergency calls as I haven't done this myself but if there's no dialer in the first place, it should make the phone become unable to make calls, period. Don't hold me to this though as like I said, I haven't done this myself though I will test it when I get home.
Km, I'll give that a try when I'm on my computer and report the outcome here. Thanks for the help

it may be better just to put the phone on airplane mode. this turns off the cell signal. saves battery significantly not having to run the cell radio. just turn on wifi afterward.
Deleting the phone apk does not seem to do anything to the emergency call function. I did turn on airplane mode and disabled the lock screen completely and that seems to have taken care of the issue for now. Thank you guys for the suggestions.

First, sorry for the new thread & odd spot. I looked for 30 minutes to see if I was duplicating a question, but the search function on this app seems to do absolutely nothing. I also can't post in dev, yet; so I hope The Collective checks this forum.
R3velation works great, and looks even better; I'm very happy I gave it a look.
That said, I have 2 issues:
1. The battery drains FAST. Sitting idle with WiFi & Bluetooth turned off, I lose 50% of the charge in 6 hours. I'm still researching how to operate things like the voltage app that came with the ROM, but if anyone has tips I'd love to hear them.
2. The main reason for this post; sometimes when the screen is off, it just won't come back on. The only thing I can find that works is to remove the battery. Any ideas what this might be!?
Thanks to The Collective for this awesome ROM!

Question 2 is a sod which they are working figuring out what is causing it. add for battery drain there is an app on the forums called better battery stats you may have to search for it on a computer to find it because i agree the search on this xda app sucks. But that app will help find the cause of the battery drain

I'm having a major issue with R3V v2 and I need help fixing this ASAP because it is the best ROM I have flashed to date!!!! Everything works like clockwork except data. I can send text messages but any other app that requires a data connection does not work (no network connection). Does this sound like a modem flash error? X- I downloaded the ROM from your sig.
Have you tried re-flashing? I had a similar issue with a different ROM on my tablet. Re-flashing the ROM fixed it.

Yes, I had tried re-flashing the original ROM I had downloaded for Experiments signature. That file might have been faulty? idk. Last night after posting about my issue and not wanting to wait another moment to enjoy this awesome ROM I did some research on XDA and found a post where Nun had a link to download R3V v2 but the file had the letter "F" at the end so I figured it to be a different file. Long story short, a little late for that huh? IT WORKED!! Thanks to the Collective, especially Experiment for this splendid ROM.
I know, right? This ROM is the nicest I've seen for Android, yet. Run R3velation OTA, and look at some of the further mods you can get for it. Under "Themes", there's one called "Mongo Toggles (blue)" by X and Mongo41. It looks VERY sweet. The light amounts of blue mixed with the beautiful toggles for the quick panel are awesome. I need to get in touch with them and ask them to make one that has purple in place of the blue. I'd never need another theme if I had that, heh.
Glad you were able to get up and running.
Did you battery life ever smooth out? There is a typically a period of three days or so where you need to wait for a rom to, "settle" before the battery will calm down. Then it should start acting much better.
The SOD issue is one that has been driven to the point of extinction. I ran R3V for a long time, and had no issues. I am now running another rom, and I am having issues. It's all what your phone likes and doesn't like I think. Good luck figuring it out man.

It's still draining fairly quickly. I didn't get that battery stats app, because it's a pay app, and I don't have the money until payday.

Thanks for the heads up. I just put the KL2 on the phone, we'll see how that does me.
Maybe it's my imagination, but this modem seems awesome. Battery life seems to have tripled, and I'm not dropping calls at the dead spots in town. What all does the modem cover, just phone & AT&T data? It doesn't handle Bluetooth or WiFi, does it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
As far as I understand, a modem is only responsible for pulling the voice and data connections from your provider. The best explanation I've found on it is from this thread here:http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22913686&postcount=1
That's what I thought (I had originally misunderstood, and thought there was a modem for voice, for data, for WiFi, for Bluetooth...found out a couple weeks ago that was wrong).
Anyway, that KL2 modem is great. I've only lost 13% of my battery in the last 9 hours with WiFi, Data, GPS, and auto-rotation all turned on. This is as opposed to 50% in 8 hours with WiFi only turned on. (Idling both times, as I was asleep.) It also seems to not be affected by the same dead spots the other modem had, as I didn't drop calls while driving past them like I used to.
I keep getting a FC when trying to open play store help please

Has anyone tried Fast Reboot pro? I have it automatically perform a fast reboot everytime I unlock the screen, but I'm not sure if it actually does any good for my phone. Anyone that's used it before, would you mind letting me know what you think of it, thanks?

It's prob just sucking your battery dry.
Set it to do a reboot each night or something, but not when you unlock the phone!!!
It's turning a simple act of turning the phones screen on, to restarting all startup apps on the phone, not gonna be helpful.

Yeah, just use it once in a while when you phone has been running for a long time.
I use it to... But its not a task killer it just restarts apps as if it was just booted.
Like above advice just use it once in a while and make sure you check important apps in white list ir manage list under settings to prevent it to restart the launcher etc.

I did a quick search and didn't see anything so let me ask you guys...
has anyone noticed when using the navigation, the chic telling you where to go tells you to turn like 200-300 feet or so before the actual turn? Is this a new 'feature'? I'm used to my og dinc that told me to turn where there was actually a road haha. Is there a way to change it so she doesn't speak so early or at least instead of just saying turn, making it say turn in xxx feet?

My advice: turn that friggen voice guidance off, it's so annoying!
But yeah, try to calibrate your GPS in the settings menu or download an app like GPS+, gps tools, etc, from the play store and update your GPS. You can also try to calibrate your compass within one of those apps or a compass app. That should fix your accuracy.
Sent from my VZW GS3 running Synergy/Trinity/Dark Horse Rises
haha I should just turn it off but I don't think it's a matter of calibration as it shows my correct location on the map, I think she just speaks early to give you time to react?!
Sent from my 'I already have all the features you are just now getting on your iPhone 5, plus even more' device!
Ya the voice gives you time to react. It should give you an update of so many feet then right before it should tell you to turn.

This app is now outdated. I am going to re-write it completely from scratch. I will obviously include the standard features, but is there anything else you users would like me to add?
Very Cool ..
Thanks for the update
Cool, thanx for updating this little gem!
I used it but it wasn´t working more for me with ICS 4.0.3, so i switched to another app, but always liked the option to have the screen go a bit darker and not stay with full brightness.
Havent looked at your improved app but could you make the constant notification tick/untickable? I never experienced that the app stopped working, so i wouldn´t need this and i hate to have any icons in the notification bar
The autostart option is VERY nice to have! :good:
EDIT:
Just installed and saw there is already an option for the notification icon, great!
Working very nice so far, will monitor it and give you some feedback during the next days.
Thanx again, really nice to see this app is liked by other people as well.
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing that app....

This sounds like a great app that could be well used on certain apps that you want the screen to stay on, well done to both developers, now I am wondering as a noob and still on a learning curve, will this app work on a Galaxy GT-S5830i rooted device and what would be the best way to install.
It would be great to get some advice on this. :good:

To install just download and use a file browser to tap on the downloaded file.

First and foremost i want to give ALL CREDIT to the original developer of this amazing app. KeepScreen is developed by AxDroid LLC and hosted for free on the play store.
It has been forever since they last updated it and they were not responding to my emails. Their website also returns with an error so i am not sure if the company is no longer in business or if they just abandoned the app. (Its ashame honestly i love this app)
But there were a few quirks with the app. For instance, the app had to be manually started every single time you rebooted your phone.
Secondly i read people experienced the app would just stop working.. (I havent experienced this at all yet) But im guessing its due to android cleaning things up to free RAM.
Well i took it on myself and i was able to fix the first issue. After first launching the app and selecting the applications you wish to always have the screen stay on, and then launching the service, after a reboot the app will start again and you dont have to manually start the service.
The second issue i am currently trying to solve by placing a constant notification in the status bar. That is the only way to keep android from cleaning and killing processes.
The app is truly amazing, i have the Galaxy S3 and it has that "Smart stay" thinger where if you are looking at the screen the phone will stay on, well when im watching TV and i look up from my phone for a single second, they screen shuts off. I hate that, so i actually just use KeepScreen, set what apps i wish to always stay on, and then they stay on so long as that app is open and displayed on the screen.
Just download and install using a file browser.

Yesss this is what I have been looking for so long and I am supper excited to get this on my note that I am getting back tomorrow
It work on my Neo V. TNX
Just two points for me:
Adding a widget to enable and disable the service and it would be fantastic.
Stopping the service when the screen is turned off (or alternative) because I saw my screen turn back alone (synchronization of a monitored application?)
Thank you for your work.
will try it , i was waiting for this kind of application , thanks

It has a listener receiver for screen off. Sometimes if you have an app open that you set to stay on all the time, and you manually shut it off, it turns back on. That's just because the service didn't shut down fast enough.
And I don't have source code. I doubt I could add a widget.
However I could write my own app that force close the service. (Almost like a task killer) but it won't be able to start the service.

I really loved this app when it first came out, but it fell by the wayside for various reasons.
Thanks for picking up the slack here! You'd think this is something they could actually build into android at some point. Apps that when on-screen don't let the phone blank the screen.
Tried it and it works great! =)

Ok Thanks for the reply.
I like this apps, it keeps my google map always on. However I need to manually start the apps on each power up. Any way to have an option to auto start? Second nice to have feature is to sort these apps selected at the top.

I'm hoping that this isn't a unique problem just for me but this is literally the first time I've had this problem. Depending on the use of my Note 5 will determine if I can even unlock my phone the next time I turn it on. I'll go about my usual use of any phone should be able to accomplish (browsing Instagram/Facebook/Chrome/Email/Pinterest/etc.). After a little while it become noticeable that the phone is starting to slow down considerably if I continue to use it. However, the one that really grinds my gears is I'll do my typical browsing and then lock my phone, put it back in my pocket. Something we all do, however, the next time I go to pull out my phone I can't even get the screen to come on for sometimes five minutes. I can hear it thinking with random sounds of the lock screen either responding to my fingers touching the screen or the un/lock sound but nothing happens. Sometimes, I can see the screen and all the notifications that I want to check on but nothing is happening. Sometimes, I'll double tap the home button to get to the camera shortcut programmed to it and sometimes the camera app comes up like it should but it is completely unresponsive.
So the steps I've tried to resolve the issue:
Restore to Stock ROM
Different ROMs
Even leaving the Stock ROM alone and just seeing if it still occurs
I'm just not sure what to try next. There's a chance the problem could be a memory error that's occurring physically but I'm not 100% sure.
Attached is my Note 5's current state of customization. Any help with this would be very very much appreciated.
Thank you

Have you removed or disabled any system files? Also have you tweaked the kernel in any way?
