And really, I'm not messing around with people...Motorola Mobility just sent me an email with a link to SurveyMonkey, and went through the pre screen...shhhhhhh, I wasn't supposed to disclose this to anyone!

Can't wait. I love this phone, but ICS is getting old.

I don't receive email for soak test. I've signed to Moto feedback. If they push the OTA to your phone, just download but don't install it. Use Root Explorer and open /cache n you'll find the OTA zip and back it up to your SD.

OMG!! Sooo awesome you guys are!
I signed up a while ago. Seeing this thread made me check my mail, and I would have overlooked the email I received if I had not seen this thread first. (I did get one.)

Guys, we are counting on you...

How do I sign up for the SoaK Test?
I got escalated all the way up to Moto Tier 2 tech on the phone and they couldn't even tell me.

Nice...no, but for real you have to create an account with Motorola Mobility online, then enter your phone's IMEI and S/N and register your device. Then you can volunteer to be contacted in the future.

Pretty strict confidentiality agreement. And I have to wipe back to stock. Damn.

I suppose it's never too late. And I suppose I should be thankful. The only reason I have this phone is because all the dust and debris at my work completely destroyed the headphone jack on my Photon 4G. I wouldn't even have ICS if it weren't for this "upgrade/replacement"

Hello,

AT&T Atrix 2 2.3.6 upgrade

Hi,
Can any one tell me the AT&T Motorola Atrix 2 can be upgraded to the official 2.3.6 ( XWKL1 )? I just got this phone for my wife and it comes with 2.3.5 and I don't think AT&T will release 2.3.6 any time soon plus I bought the phone from my friend after he claimed the insurance ( he lost his previous A2 ) I don't have no data plan so I won't be able to get the firmware update through AT&T.
I upgraded my Samsung GS 2 ( International version ) to XWKL1 so can I upgrade my wife's A2 with the same FW through Odin then?
I will be really appreciated if some one can help me to answer this?
Might wanna wait a little because it may be updating sooner than later, hopefully. I have the Atrix 4G and just got the SOAK notice. Gonna flash fruitcake and see what they send out...
You guys might want to read where you're posting this.

Ummmm...no. at best, Odin won't recognize the A2 BC Odin is meant for Sammy devices. At worst, if it does recognize your phone and you flash the SGS2 firmware to the A2, you will most likely end up with an unusable brick.
K thx bai

Atrix 2 will probably be getting 2.3.7 pretty soon. Stay tuned.
By the way the atrix 2 gets OTA updates, not usually from a file that you flash to the phone. You will usually get a notice on your phone that an update is available for download, and ask you what to do, all wireless.

Hey guys,
Motorola and at&t released the 2.3.6 upgrade for teh Atrix 2 today (February 2nd 2012). Just go to settings > about phone> software updates for an OTA upgrade... u need wiFi connection though (its 58 Mb)
hopefully we also get ICS whenever it comes out!!! Maybe MOtorola hasn't forgotten the A2!!1
it keeps telling me checking for available update please wait forever
Note :- i unlocked my mobile (sim unlock ) and using it outside of the USA with a Vodafone Sim .
Maybe that's the reason?
I am testing it over wifi not data
Root
Will updating remove root access?
Yes, if you don't take steps to preserve it. Do a search or check the DEV forum for the details.

What ROM are you currently running? I would recommend flashing the 2.3.5 fkz's rerooting, and then using forever root. Then try using the OTA update. Or you could wait until lfaber06 incorporates this into his SC ROM which will make things a LOT easier.
I am on supercharged v4. I will do that and see hat happens.

Thanks for calling Motorola helpline, we will definitely forward your query to the department concerned and let you know, meanwhile this is how you can check for updates from your Motorola Android mobile

No OTA update available in my Atrix 2 (running with a custom ROM)
I recently rooted my phone and am using a custom rom (Victory ROM) now.
Now, after hearing that Moto has official ICS update via OTA, I'm trying to check for 'System Updates' in Settings -> About Phone. But no updates there.
Is it like, I have to come back to the stock ROM and get this update?
Thanks.

I assume you have Indian Atrix 2 (based on your location), if that's the case read this forum which has details as how to install the ICS. (latest file seems the Official ICS release)
devilhunter47 advised is for AT&T phone. Indian phones seems don't have that problem and people can get back GB using fxz it seems (based on what I read there)...
Better you read that thread and go from there...All the best...
Did anybody notice improvement in battery lift after the ics update?
I did find a big improvement. Earlier, with 3G and auto sync ON through out my office time, battery status used to come down to 40-50%. Now, after End of my work day, it is at 80%. Observed this for a few days now.
Also the battery drain overnight has improved. I assume this might have to do with the black and cool blue skin that ics implemented...

11/10, that way my Nexus devices will be up to date while I ignore them for Fallout 4.
My guess is Thanksgiving. Keep us distracted with phone issues or turkey... One way or another we will pass out from the process...

Beauty of an unlockable bootloader ... Return to stock, get OTA. Only potential "issue" is that TWRP/root for M may take a bit (not sure on that though as I'm no dev)
-OR-
Wait for one of the great devs to post a stock-rooted flashable ROM.

While I'm very excited for Marshmellow, as others have stated, I don'y think we will have to wait for the official rom to drop. There will be some awesome devs that port it to out devise from the Nexus devises long before it's officially available.
My guess you have to be pretty quick after release because unlike in previous years we no longer have to wait for carriers to approve the updates
3 weeks from code release...Based on how the lollipop rollout went for the 2014 Moto X. I do want to mention that this "update to marshmellow" we are all guessing will be within the month of Oct. will most likely be only a soak test.

First video (?) of the Marshmallow version on... Moto X PURE.
A bit weird according to yesterday's announcement. isn't it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WfIZcLckMg
Why is it weird? When this person got the update as one of the first yesterday, it isn't weird.
The only weird part is that he states its the final release and he isn't from India or Brazil. He was one of the soaktesters though.
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Free mobile app
Because he uses the American Pure Edition (not the Style) and on Motorola's announcement they said that the Pure Edition will get the Marshmallow in a week or two and for now only the Brazilian and Indian Style versions will get the update
You know that you can flash the brazilian 5.1.1 stock rom on the Pure? So he could get the update maybe.
Or maybe the Soak Testers were sent the final release as well just to make sure there weren't any bugs that Moto missed.

On Soak Test but New Phone is on 6.0

Hi all,
So I'm on the soak test for my XT1575. However, my battery life isn't great, and I wanted to see if a new phone would help. So I got a replacement from Moto under extended warranty. Now I realize that they never pushed 7.0 to phones, and I'm totally going to miss 7.0!
So - is there any way I can take my current (7.0) phone and somehow updated the OS on my new replacement phone? I have both, both are completely stock, never rooted and bootloaders are still locked.
Thanks in advance!
To this I say:

Oh, so this isn't a new soak test, just an old one. Okay.
Retus stands for Retail US
Retla is Latin America
Reteu is Europe and so on.
But is that the soak with the factory reset bug? And why are you still on it? No one is testing it anymore.

Sorry, Liamfm
The issue is you think something is a soak test and that it is over. Further you are asking the impossible you cannot clone a rom from one locked device to another locked device.
