Hi all,
So I'm on the soak test for my XT1575. However, my battery life isn't great, and I wanted to see if a new phone would help. So I got a replacement from Moto under extended warranty. Now I realize that they never pushed 7.0 to phones, and I'm totally going to miss 7.0!
So - is there any way I can take my current (7.0) phone and somehow updated the OS on my new replacement phone? I have both, both are completely stock, never rooted and bootloaders are still locked.
Thanks in advance!
To this I say:
THERE'S A SOAK TEST RIGHT NOW?!?!? IS THIS RETUS??
XT1575 - I've been on a 7.0 Soak since April. What is RETUS?

Oh, so this isn't a new soak test, just an old one. Okay.
Retus stands for Retail US
Retla is Latin America
Reteu is Europe and so on.
But is that the soak with the factory reset bug? And why are you still on it? No one is testing it anymore.
What do you mean no one is testing it anymore. We're not gonna get Nougat?

He has no way of knowing that...
Are you still currently in the soak test? If not you could unlock the bootloaders and get 7.0 on your new phone.

My old phone is on the soak. I'd like to mirror that on the replacement I just got. The soak is over, as in, we are no longer providing feedback. So... Steps to complete? Unlock, install TWRP? Nandroid and move to New phone?

They will push 7.0 to all 1575 devices when the update is ready.

There are no partners as the 1575 was only sold unlocked in the US.
So what's going on, is the 1575 gonna get Nougat or not? What do you guys think?
Wow, this conversation has really turned into no help at all. Does anyone want to read the OP and comment on that?
Sorry, Liamfm
The issue is you think something is a soak test and that it is over. Further you are asking the impossible you cannot clone a rom from one locked device to another locked device.

Right and wrong.
It already rolled out to GPE (which is XT1032) like you said, but no Indian XT1032 got it, only Indian and Brazilian XT1033 (and it's the soak test, not final release).
If I root the phone will I still get ota?

No. It will fail the instalation.
Not according to Motorola. They say it will install but root will be lost.
But, having said that, I'm not rooting just to be safe.

Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57422969. I converted my US GSM XT1032 using this procedure and was able to get LP. It seems a bit shady when you're doing the procedure, but you get the official LP OTA in then end. Just using fastboot and not an actual OTA. It is no different than if you are to receive the OTA. As long as you don't root the end product, you'll receive future OTAs straight from Google.

Has anyone heard anything about the UK lollipop update. Its being so quiet on the Europe UK update what's going on. I think its going to be after Christmas for us UK Europe lollipop release. I haven't seen one post about a soak or release, which is strange.

Dont you find it weird that no news or post about it anywhere. The kit kat update was rife with news.
It's going to be a while until we get the official, because there's a new soak test for xt1033 with 5.0.1, which means that they'll be testing the software for at least a week. I'd put 31 dec-1 Jan for the official release.

You don't need to be "stuck" in the GPE Lollipop;
As I've been saying in the other topic, just try following this:
forum.xda-developers.com/ moto-g/general/guide-moto-g-xt1033-android-5-0-lollipop-t2979623
Follow this steps exactly the way its written and it should work.

I have a Question, so how is it possible to get the MBM-CI from a OTA?
So Lollipop has already official rollout in some countries, but why is now one working on that getting the MBM-CI?

We all have bad luck here, If it was possible, it was already out. But we are needed to wait any official lollipop image.
Plus: It is still a soak test.

Long story in short, like a beta test. They publish it for testing for some users and if everything is going okay after a period of time, they will release it officially.
we hope this period will be as short as possible
I hope some body made mbm-ci even take from soak test..my city dont have motorola service centre..n my phone f.ck.ng death..

I'm expecting the bootloader will be anti rollback but hopefully some kind of method is found so root and custom ROMs can still be done with Oreo on the H918.

As long as att releases Oreo. If not this version can be ported to support the other variants. If a dev is up to it. Hopefully. Then the v20 can also receive lineage 15.1
Edit: sent an email to LG inquiring about a possible att oreo software update. Basically said they had no plans in the immediate future and to contact att about it instead
I will port Oreo to the H910 if AT&T doesn't release it. I can't do it for other models since I don't own them. Well, I will TRY, but it is hard if you don't have a device to test on....
I know I can *PROBABLY* do it for the H915, H910PR, the VS995, and the LS997
-- Brian
Sorry to say that but LG has a very lazy software development team

Not sure they, however, did say the V20 will receive the update so you could assume they mean all the variants.

Maybe they accidentally leave a loop hold in the oreo version. I mean we pay for the device why lock us in. I mean if you have the warranty it's up to you to root and lose it but if you are already out of it then they should just let you do what you want but if anything happens it just on you.

you can't... it's a fuse that's blown once it's set so the best to can do is leave it at 1 and give us back fastboot. if they release it as ARB 0, every owner of the LGV20 is ****ed that updated to the current as of right now including users that didn't root

Is this a downgrade? Bc my screenshot is from just now and it's the unlocked us variant running the same build it shipped with but has had an update waiting to be installed for about a week. And my number Is higher than yours.
BEWARE!! Thats a new boot loader... v2! you wont be able to do a full factory restore until a v2 bootloader odin file is released.
That being said, how do you like it? any differences?

You will probably be waiting quite awhile.... As I stated in my thread, little to NO devs are working on root for the s9/+... I've seen one Korean user mention he was trying in another forum for us SD users, and ONE other guy... That's it, just 2 people and myself. Don't expect anything before Christmas.

Why are these bad updates?
These updates from sam firm science allowed a lot of us to get onto oreo beta. If you know how to recover your phone why is this a problem. OP explained the risk with the bootloader.

I may just go to international S9+ if there root seems like a false hope on the SD variant. The only issue would be VoLTE and WiFi calling, oh and Samsung suddenly restricting call recording apps on international variant. I tried flashing those Engboot from other thread with no luck btw.

1906.5-0 is the one I have, no OTA updates available but too afraid to try newer versions available on the website.
Any other US version on this?
Shouldn't this be a normal WW version firmware wise?

I'm genuinely loving it, the only "cons" I've found so far are the weight, the provided case being too slippery.
And the most stupid and funny was testing Cerberus when it takes a pic of you when you introduce a bad pin/pattern too much.
The cam raising and hiding by itself is very stealthy, lol.
