[Q] Sim Carrier Unlock - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hey guys I recently purchased an Rooted Htc One X from a friend to use as my work phone and was give the carrier unlock code for my device however when i went to unlock the device it did not work. From searching around here on the forums i've noticed that in order to carrier unlock this device it needs to be on a sense based rom. Is this correct? If so does it matter if its viper xl rom?

Any sense rom should work. You just need it for the first time code entry. You can flash AOSP after if you like.

Ok perfect i just wanted to make sure before i attempt to unlock the phone again...Once again Exad you've come to the rescue! Thanks again!

Thunderbolt can now be unlock through HTCDEV.com

Today it was found that the HTC Rezound was able to be unlock from the HTC developer website.
I tried it and it worked great.
So I decided to try it on my old Thunderbolt. It worked also.
Just wanted to pass this along
Thanks for the info..
Thx bro

You already could of had it unlocked. I suggest if you didn't want to use Rev io method which is just as easy and gives you s-off don't bother unlocking your phone.

I agree with green. Besides, they could (I haven't read that this happens, but I could see it happen) report you phones s/n to Verizon and void your warranty.

That is the biggest reason I would not use their unlocker. At the very least HTC knows your phone is unlocked, there had to be some agreement with vzw in order for them to unlock it in the first place. I would assume it was a notification of serial numbers after they have done it. Save big red lots of cash with all of the warranty claims they could deny....
the revolutionary method also requires you to give up your serial number

Tor not giving it to a company affiliated with Verizon though. Revolutionary isn't going to report you to Verizon, thus voiding your warranty even if its a hardware issue.

I wasn't insinuating that, just no real reason they (Revolutionary) should even ask for it, I know its used to create the beta key but why the phone serial and not just an email address? just pointing out that both methods currently require giving out the serial of your device.
I still plan to use the Revolutionary method once they update it to work with the new 2.11.605.9 rom. (yes I am aware of the work around, but prefer to just wait)

+1 I've always wondered the same. I read something that they ask so that they have information if Revolutionary starts causing problems with a certain build run. Personally, I'd be a lot happier not to have to divulge the info.

Just use work around and flash root version already in dev section. I will get people who don't use rooted ROMs on rooted phones.

You got it all wrong. The HTCDev site will only unlock the bootloader, allowing you to flash things like custom recoveries. It will definitely not unlock the phone from the carrier.
Also, the Thunderbolt will never work on a gsm network because its a cdma phone.

[Q] Sim unlock not working on rooted phone -- [Solved]

My situation: I rooted my ATT One X using 2.20 xfactor exploit that changed my phone's CID. I am now running the King Kang ROM. I got my sim unlock code directly from ATT but it keeps giving a failure message. I read another similar thread on this topic but that was from a few months ago and was not resolved.
My question: does the rooting/bootloader unlocking process affect the ability to sim unlock my phone? If yes, then can I restore the phone back to factory settings including the original CID, etc. so that I can try to use that sim unlock code again? Will re-locking the bootloader and flashing a 2.20 RUU suffice?
Thanks,
Sathya
It shouldn't. I can't see any connection between the two. SIM is for service, bootloader is for the phone.
I had this problem.
You have to be on a Sense ROM (doesn't have to be stock) in order to SIM unlock the the HOX.
Backup your current setup, wipe and flash any Sense ROM and then try to unlock. Works like a charm.
Once you're unlocked, you can go back to restoring or flashing AOSP-based ROMs

I flashed to CleanROM 5.0, sim unlock worked like a breeze once I put in a non-ATT sim. Flashed back to King Kang.

i'm on htc one x with ATT, trying to unlock it to use with tmobile.
bought code from cellunlocker.net
went from CM10 to cleanROM 5.0....unsuccessful.
the imei number i provided to cellunlocker.net is the same as in phone settings and when you do *#06#.......
BUT...i noticed the imei in phone setting does not match the imei on physical sticker on phone or the sim insert plate...wtf is it different. i got the phone directly from ATT!
already email cellunlocker.net for unlock code for the IMEI on physical sticker/sim plate.
any suggestions...or other ways of sim unlock.
Thanks
Had a unlock issue when I first got the phone. Was running king kang couldn't unlock so I flashed back to stock with a locked bootloader and it worked.

You have an imei issue based on what you explained. Get at&t to unlock the phone for you or provide you a phone with matching numbers.

Well .. the dumb thing is i called att...the imei they have matches with the one inside the phone... And they claim they didn't have an unlock code for it...called twice...both rep tried to look up unlock code for me.
Maybe i shld try to get unlock code for the imei number on outside of phone...on phone sticker, box, sim tray...????
Why the heck are the two imei numbers different??? Should i go to att to complain n get diff one... although it has been about a yr...doubt they'll do anything about it.

[Q] Why are Sim Locked for some carriers but unlocked for others

Hello,
I have an HTC Sensation 4g that was originally from Tmobile. I rooted it and also unlocked the phone to use on other networks. I verified this by using other prepaid carriers in the U.S and also in Mexico. But now i have an issue I tried a company called Moviestar in Mexico. I keep getting a message saying SIM LOCKED. Why is this?
Also does anyone know how asking for unlock code work from tmobile. I also have service with them with a different sensation can I call them and give them the IMIE for the sensation I want unlocked? Not sure if you have to be using the sensation while asking for the code.
I also found this to change APN but dont the sim cards change this automatically?

Simply ask T-Mobile for the unlock code. They will give it to you. I haven't asked for this device yet but asked for my other device and they gave me the code without any problems. Just tell them you will be traveling and want the code. It shouldn't be a problem. They did it for me before without any issues. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes

Maybe T-Mobile, but I am on Vodafone and they won't give it to me for some reason. HTC have put a guide how to SOFF your phone, but that didn't worked for me. I only have the "wire trick" left to try, but some users report broken phones after so... I hear people write mails to HTC and they give them the unlock codes Anyone had a successful feedback on the issue?

HTC dev unlock method works fine.. just follow procedure from HTC page
If your bootloader is 1.2xx , jb method of soff is only option...
What u mean broken phone after wire trick???.,.,
If u stuck on jb screen after many attempt of wire trick , then u simply remove temp root and phone will back to Android

To verify, if I have S-OFF'd my Sensation, then I should be able to use a SIM on another carrier without having to call my carrier (T-Mobile) to get an unlock code. Right?
Thank you.

No, you're missing 1 step.
S-Off and Sim Unlock are two different things.
But if you have S-Off and Root access you can figure out your own Sim Unlock code quickly and easily.
See here for instructions...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
Then once you have that unlock code, when you put in a sim from another carrier it will prompt you for the code and you simply type it in.
Skipjacks is right I was trying to find that thread wasnt fast enough lol. Cedyathome follow that guide and it should work for most carriers.

Network Unlocking problem

I bought a Sensation of a forums site and the guy gave me the unlock code to unlock it but when I add it, it says code successful but the phone doesn't unlock I then tried the unlock methods on this website and it still won't work. Whenever the box appears to put in the code I can put in any random numbers and it will still say unlock code was successful. The rom is cynagogen mod 10 jb 4.1.2 but not sure if this can cause any problem?

If you did the method on here you shouldn't have to enter an unlock code. Make sure you did the method right. I've done the method on here to 2 sensations and it worked perfectly

if its carrier unlocked from the manufacturer, pop the sim in, the end.
if its bootloader unlocked, you need to get it carrier unlocked as they are not the same.
Ok, I have the carrier unlock code, ATT gave it to me with no problems. Now besides that do I need to flash a different radio at all? Also because its rooted would that cause any other issues?
