okay so ive already bricked 1 device because of the ota update my question is can i root/re-unlock the boot loader with out bricking this device? also ive been reading that htcdev now blocks supercid 111111 so if going to try getting another unlocktoken will i need to fastboot write cid 222222? also if my device is S-Off then why is it when i try to write in fastboot it returns the error Failed(Remote Not Allowed)... where in my evo 3d allows writing and it also is S-Off and Relocked

S-off on our device does not let you write certain things with a locked bootloader. Why? I'm not really sure.
You can't brick unlocking the bootloader unless you're crazy stupid and doing things wrong.
Do you not have the original unlock token from when you unlocked last time?
If not, does your current rom have root? If so you should be able to hex edit your Cid.
If not you're sol until 3.18 root comes out.

You'll have to wait until 3.18 root is achieved then unfortunately as you cannot change your CID in your phone's current state.
For future reference, don't bother relocking the bootloader after achieving s-off on this phone. It's pointless and creates issues like this.

okay but to verify i am s-off if i flash the unlock token what are the chances of a brick? mainly asking because i am wanting to do the 3 button remap mod and the new elemental kernel as well and only reason i relocked the bootloader and ran the JB ruu is because my basebands all except for lte kept losing signal at random

Apparently not. Which doesn't surprise me as there are many things I could not do with s-off and a locked bootloader. This seems to be a quirk of the one xl

With the evita, s-off + super cid is not enough, you require an unlocked bootloader aswell.

I have previously rooted my device, but was bothered by the bootloader saying
Tampered
Unlocked
I then decided to restore it to factory/stock rom, which I was successful in doing, and bootloader is now relocked
I used Hasoon2000's toolkit and followed all the steps correctly, everything said it was successful but when i boot into bootloader says that it is still relocked
What could be causing this?
I'm running 2.20 btw, h-boot 1.14

i am new to this as well but im pretty sure it will stay "relocked"
as you tampered with it already and there is no way of getting it back to normal (from what i read in the forums) more knowledgable people correct me if im wrong
i believe the only way to get it not to say relocked is with s-off
I think he's trying to unlock his bootloader again, not trying to get rid of the relocked message.

sorry i misread your post
I cannot boot into ROM, but stuck at Bootloader. And I'm relocked.
The only thing I have is Fastboot USB.
I would like to RUU into a Stock ROM. How to do so?
Well ruu should be pretty self explanatory. If you are in the boot loader just run the ruu. Since you are relocked shouldn't take much work. Are you s-off? Why not just grab an AT&T ROM and flash it over. Sure it will be rooted, but delete the super user app
Sent from my Carbon-ize Evita using xda-developers app
Yeah, I just figured it. RUU was some executable file. I thought it was more complicated. No I'll just leave it like this and not S-Off, thanks. Apparently I'm not more than 30% battery though. But how do I see the battery from the Bootloader screen?
I dont believe you can. Only from recovery. Just let it charge for about 20-30 mins and you should be good

I think probably I can only install 3.17 RUU is because my last working ROM was CM10.1. After that I tried Sense ROMs but many failed hence I thought of doing Relock and RUU.
Is there any other thing I can do in my bootloader state? I tried Factory Reset.
Is it possible I attain S-OFF from here and flash recovery and flash OTA from there?
Or even better yet, can I try doing OTA from this state?

I'm telling you this because I don't want you to go through what I did.
I'm on a telus one x, did not need super cid to unlock my bootloader. I relocked and flashed stock recovery, ran RUU. The RUU completed successfully but my phone was a full brick. Only JTAG would have saved it.
If you want to RUU, re-unlock your bootloader, flash recovery, flash stock rooted sense rom, hex edit your CID to 11111111 and S-OFF, then RUU. It's a lot safer now that you've unlocked your bootloader and rooted.

I just got a AT&T HTC One X, and I never dealt with a HTC before (mostly Samsung). Right now the HTC is pure stock AT&T firmware 1.85. I need some helping guiding me what steps to take cause I'm confuse by it all. This is what I have so far from my research:
Step 1: RUU to 2.20? (not entirely sure on this)
Step 2: Use toolkit to get root
Step 3: Not sure which method to use but I need Supercid to 22222222 because HTCdev blocked AT&T and 11111111.
Step 4: Unlock Bootloader
Step 5: S-OFF, (is facepalm compatible with AT&T X?)
Step 6: Flash roms and have fun.
I appreciate any help and please tell me if I miss some steps.

I would try 11111111 first since that's what SuperCID gives you be default. If that doesn't work, then I would fastboot oem writecid 22222222 You can only change CID once without S-OFF so make sure to enter it right.

Hey Exad, the day has come when I need to ask your advice on something. I'm gonna RUU up to 3.18 then downgrade my TS firmware so I can have a look at these new Carbon builds running the 3.4 kernel (which don't play nice with my current setup). So I need to gain SuperCID in order to s-off, having a Hong Kong issue phone on 1.85 never required me to have SuperCID in order to root. Anyway long story short, my question is: I should be able to just issue the following fastboot command in order to gain SuperCID right?
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
That should be fine yeah?

Good morning! ^_^
So, here's the scoop. After you Super CID, you can change your CID 1 time using fastboot oem writecid if you are S-ON
If you are S-OFF you can use that command as many times as you like.
If you have not already SuperCID'd and you are S-ON you would need to SuperCID first either by running the exploit script or hexiditing your CID manually.
I think that's what Thug_4_Life was trying to say too.

Exad will correct me if I'm wrong. But this was only true for ATT models. they weren't able to change cid, hence why it takes so long for ATT users so long to find an exploit then change cid.
That's why any other carriers are able to root no problem, there's far less restrictions. Beings he has one from hong Kong, I would imagine he can rewrite the cid because if this.
Personally I would give it a shot.

No, even non ATT phones follow the same restrictions, the only difference is HTCDev allows other carriers to unlock through HTCDev without having to SuperCID.
Since S-OFF requires CID to be 11111111 I wrote that Hex guide so we could change our CID to gain S-OFF too.

I have been trying to run a RUU to unroot the phone before I bring it in for a repair. I keep getting the 155 error and I searched through google for help on the error. I have read a few post about it but nothing works. I tried to run it through fastboot as well and that does not work. My phone information while in bootloader is Evita pvt ship s-on rl hboot 1.09.0000 radio .17.32.09.12 and I am running cleanrom v 6.5 as my rom. Since my rom and boot.img is based of 3.18 I tried to run the ruu on 3.18. Im not sure if its because it is an older verdion of bootloader while im running a rom that is based off the 3.18. So I also tried to flash a older rom and run the ruu for 1.73 but that didnt work either. Im stumped and very frustrated so please I need your help.

Yeah for the 3.18 its http://bugsylawson.com/HTCFiles/Evi....24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34_release_signed.exe
and for the 1.73 its http://www.ponack.net/designgears/b...73.502.2_2FE6772699D8596307CC997452BB8D25.exe
Also I read that in order to use the RUU correct I need to soff the phone, but then I cant upgrade the firmware to jellybean. Do you know if this is correct?
The phone will brick if you try to ruu or update to 3.18 while S-ON and superCID. Your CID right now, no doubt is 11111111. When the RUU runs it checks to see what your CID is, if it's not what it should be, it gives an error. If you change your CID back to CWS__001 you can run the 1.73 RUU but you can never update to 3.18 unless you S-OFF first or you'll brick.
to check your CID fastboot oem readcid.
You can change it once without S-OFF with fastboot oem writecid CWS__001 but you can't change it again with that command unless you're S-OFF

Ok thanks. Im in the process of doing the S-OFF right now. What I want to do is get rid of the red text and make my phone look like the bootloader is locked and never tampered with. I remember doing this with my EVOLTE so it will look like the phone is S-ON and locked. After all that run the RUU for 2.20 so it can get repaired. Now after the repair I can root again and upgrade to the Jellybean firmware right?

hello everyone, android user and my device s-off in the first year I want to do but how to do it without the support of htcdev? Is there a program available? When I unlock my device also has root? Am I going to root sturdy at the same time to s-off? I just want to get rid of device applications that official. 5 4.2.2 installed on my device, this device can sense it possible to root for?
Thank you.
I think you're confused as to what s-off is and unlocking is, they're two entirely different things. You don't use htcdev to get s-off. You use htcdev to unlock your bootloader, and no you cannot unlock your bootloader without htcdev. Unlocking your bootloader doesn't give you root, after unlocking the bootloader you must install a custom recovery and then you can gain root. After gaining root you can get SuperCID and then you can get s-off. If all you want to do is remove some system apps, then you'll just need to unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery, and install root.
Sent from my Evita
You don't need s-off to delete bloatware (pre-installed apps). Just use HTCDev.com to unlock the bootloader. Then install custom recovery, then either flash SU or a rooted ROM to get root.
The process to s-off is simple (see Facepalm method in the Original Android Development subforum). However, it requires SuperCID. Since the CID is protected on Sense 5, you will not be able to SuperCID (and therefore S-off).
But as already mentioned, you don't need S-off to root and delete bloatware.
I'm at a loss and somewhat confused.
I read in one place that I need to s-off to update my radio, but in order to do that I need super-cid.
so I'm trying to change my cid from ROGER001 to 11111111.
Now I'm reading that I can s-off without super-cid? All I'd like to do is update my radio and kernel so my phone stops losing signal and stops rebooting. I should also mention that I already went to htcdev and unlocked my bootloader.
What I see in fastboot:
TAMPERED
UNLOCKED
Evita PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.14.0000
RADIO-0.23a.32.09.29
OpenDSP-v31.1.0.45.0815
eMMC-boot
Viper Xl 4.2.0(amazing Rom btw)
HTC Sense 5.0
I have tried the script, it failed, manual method, that failed.
manual method gets me this result after I fastboot oem readcid(ok), fastboot oem writecid 11111111
... INFO elite_init_sd, SD card already power on
INFOsdhw_7xxx_open: id=0
INFO[SD_HW_ERR] SD: No device attached
INFO902910 902E20
FAILED (status read failed (No such file or directory))
I'd like to resolve this as my signal stops, and device reboots randomly.

Nope, wherever you read that, its completely incorrect.
It says right in the s-off method instructions, in big bold print that SuperCID is required: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155071
If you are having trouble with s-off, the other solution to random reboots on Sense 5 is to install the Beastmode kernel.

I actually started to type "as mentioned in a bazillion different places" after my Beastmode statement in the previous reply. But I decided to be nice!
I checked out this link again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952038
i still get an error, it fails on step 6 with message [-] Failed.
I'll give beastmode another shot, i've tried it before, no success.

The x-factor exploit fails since its looking for the AT&T CID. For other CIDs, you need to edit it manually using the hex edit method.
If you have trouble with installing Beastmode, I think some folks have had to install Beastmode 2.0 before installing 3.5.
After many attempts, boot loops beastmode reloaded 3.5 finally took.
So now I need to ask if I need s-off, i've done everything except upgrade my radio.
I'll only update my radio if the antenna drops keeps dropping out.
Well, radio went out, no reboots yet, I'll see what else I can try.
no i want to only rooting device, this video help me ? cause title for htc one."but my device hox"

No it won't work, it's not for this phone. Only ever use guides specifically for this device or you could brick it. As I've already told you, you absolutely cannot root this device without unlocking the bootloader through htcdev first. I'm not sure why you're still searching for ways to do it, they do not exist. There's no point in coming here for advice if you don't even listen to the answers you're given.

If all you want to do is remove some system apps, then you'll just need to unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery, and install root.

some people say me "when using htcdev for unlock your warranty get void" thats true ?
Absolutely nowhere within this forum does it say you need s-off to root, because you don't. I've already told you that. I can't view that video for some reason but unless it specifically says it's for the Evita don't use it. All you need is in the Everything Evita link in my signature, do not get information anywhere else, XDA is the only place you need to look.
As I've already told you, if you want to root you need to unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery first. In the link I mentioned there are guides on how to do this, you need to follow the guide that pertains to your current firmware version.

You're not even in the right forum, this is the HTC One XL / at&t One X (Evita) forum. You need to ask in the HTC One X forum. They're different phones.
