Phone issues: Mic only works when headphones are plugged in! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

THE PROBLEM:
The internal microphone does not work for call audio unless I plug in headphones. The same applies to speakerphone mode.
My Bluetooth headset works fine, as do my old iPhone earbuds with built-in mic. In both cases, their respective external microphones were used and functioned appropriately.
The issue seems localized to the Phone app. The microphone works fine in Sound Recorder as well as dB Level. At first I suspected a faulty headphone jack, but I've installed SoundAbout and it properly detects when I plug in or remove my headphones.
THE BACK-STORY:
I've had been running CM9 RC2 on my phone for some time now, and decided it was time to check out CM10. I flashed the 3/04/2013 CM10.1 Experimental M2 build and got hit with the call audio issue. I used roger_n's unofficial ROM for a few days and subsequently updated to the 3/25/2013 CM10.1 nightly. I've pretty much had this issue ever since then, and I never had any issues prior to flashing CM10.1.
I've tried going back to CM9 and also upgrading the radio to UCLF6. I've done a full wipe and formatted /sdcard.
Can anybody offer any insight?

Odin back to stock. See what happens then.

[Q] CM7 - No Sound For Bluetooth Phone Audio

I cannot hear the other party during a phone call routed through my MW600 bluetooth headset. The other party can hear me, and if I switch to speaker (front or back) everything works fine.
Streaming media works fine.
The headset/phone combo worked fine in ClearDroid (but GPS didn't, which is why I switched to CM7)
I have CM7 08082011 build GRJ90 on my phone. I did a complete wipe (factory reset, Dalvik, cache partition) before installing the ROM. I've tried it with and without the audio/gps fix. I've reset my headset, rebooted my phone, deleted the pairing - no worky. I've also used a couple of radios (including the recommended one), and both have the same result.
Is there a patch or some other fix for this?
my bluetooth is working for audio and phone calls. connected to my car
Baseband and CM7 Build?

Which radio and version of CM7 are you using?
radio: 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
mod: CM7-7.1.0-RC1-inspired-pirate (it was just built last night)
I'm guessing that's something you cooked yourself?
How long have you used bluetooth with that ROM? Have you (or anyone else viewing) ever had a problem with it with this ROM?
Trying to find out if reflashing would be likely to fix it...
Thanks!

since i only built the rom the night before last, 1 whole day (used bluetooth all day yesterday, and last night). i have never had any bluetooth issues on any of the CM7 roms though. i use bluetooth in my car daily. every time i get in and start my car it connects. i use google music and pandora, and make phone calls through my stereo
Thanks for your response; I wiped, reflashed and it's working great.
For anyone else who may have this problem, I found the actual cause.
I reinstalled all my apps and the problem came back; process of elimination showed that my phone call recording app, AutoCallRecorder was causing the problem. I disabled the Use Microphone option, and the problem went away.
Thanks again, pirate. I feel like an idiot for not thinking about that app before.

Cyanogenmod 7.1: stock headset mic not working

Hi everyone
I have a HTC Desire S with CyanogenMod 7.1 Stable and ClockworkMod as recovery. Everything is great except for my stock htc desire s headset.
When I insert the headset the headset is registered (showing a small icon with headset+mic) but the microphone is not working. It is not working in calls and not working in other apps (for example Sound Recorder which comes with CGM). The internal microphone in the telephone however remains active during calls. The microphone is working hardware wise, I use the headset with my laptop.
I am aware of this topic: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...headset microphone__fromsearch__1#entry237827
But I have a different phone and I am already using CGM 7.1 and just using 7.1 hasn't fixed my problem
Are anyone aware of any fixes / workarounds for this? Maybe some nightly builds which fixes it or similar?
Side note:
It also turns out that only one earplug is working (like mono sound) when using the headset in a call. Both works perfectly when using the Music-app wich comes with CGM.
Best regards
Wuhtzu
Could it be that the htc desire s stock headset uses a proprietary driver only included with htc sense or similar?
Best regards
Wuhtzu
I have same problem with u dude, but sometimes headset n mic work fine. I don't have any idea 4 that.
If that happened I just reboot my desire s n hope the problem is gone.
Sorry 4 my bad english
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
this thing involves alot of confusion, since also i have cm7 and when i insert the stock earphones it appears as regular earphones with no mic icon but it does work though i think

Could you be persuaded to try and report the result back? Plug in the stock headset with mic, note which icon is displayed (earphones or headset), try the headset in an app (Sound Recorder for example) and try the headset in a phone call.
im sorry for not being able to try now, but as i recall it works fine, just the icon that appears is for earphones with no mic, although i have the stock headset plugged in , but when i reboot with the headset plugged in the icon displayed is the one for a headset (with mic icon)
probably just a rom issue, not a big deal since the mic works
The problem persisted for me with the Cyanogenmod 7.1. I however never tried to reflash 7.1, which some people claimed would fix the problem. So that I will never know for sure.
I do however know that CGM 7.2 RC1 is here now and that upon first boot after 7.2 flashing my stock headset works as expected.
The icons ect. are the same as described vigorously in the original post. Only difference is that now the microphone actually works.
Thumbs up to 7.2 and the CGM team!
SOLVED for me!
Not sure if it is the same issue, as sometimes when I plug the headset only the headphones icon appears (the one without a mic icon) and sometimes the headset icon appears (the icon WITH a mic) and the mic works.
IT IS SOLVED now! turned out that when I plug the headset socket SLOWLY the mic DOES NOT WORK, but when I plug it FAST ENOUGH the mic works perfectly and the headset icon appears.
Hope this would help you out

[Q] S3 Audio (Static & Crackles Only)

My audio has completely stopped working, except for Bluetooth which seems unaffected. Whether it's thru the earpeice, the speaker, or line out, the audio is nothing but static and crackles...and what I can only assume is the emergency tone (very annoying, very loud, rising pitch squeal). If I try to play audio or video, the sound crackles and then the file stops playing. This is both speaker and line out. If I try to listen to Google Voice message, it's nothing but static.
Phone is currently running CleanROM 6, which I just reinstalled fresh after a complete internal wipe hoping that would fix my issue, but it hasn't. Problem originally surfaced while running LiquidSmooth 2.9 and then I restored my CR6 Nandroid which, of course, didn't help either. Baseband has been updated to current version, which was also no help. Again, BT audio is just fine.
Thoughts, ideas, help?!!!
Thanks, Mike
Tried two different kernels, also no change.
Can anyone confirm that Bluetooth audio output does NOT go through the soundboard?

No sound on headset.

there is no sound getting out upon connecting the headset.
tried on my Nexus, everythings fine.
any help?
edit: stock rom, stock kernel. device rebooted couple of times, sound is all right without the headset.
tried the trick with half way connecting the headset, didnt work.
i do have the same problem with my Apple Ear Phones, its basically a different technology behind it. after that i flashed a custom rom (crDroid) and wola....they are working!! (but not the microphone sadly :/)
try flashing franco kernel as it has newer audio / headset commits. it may fix your problem.

Bluetooth mic issue on most custom ROMs?

Yesterday I decided to try a couple of custom ROMs, and after setting them up completely I realized that the mic in my Bluetooth headphones didn't work properly with either of the.The volume captured by them is waayyy too low and the other person can almost never hear me properly.
On OOS stock and beta, the sound is crystal clear and the person can't discern the difference if I am using the Bluetooth headphone or the phone itself. I have also verified that I am indeed using the headphone mic and not the phone's inbuilt mic.
Now, I have reverted back to stock OOS and it's back to normal.
I flashed HAVOC-OS and AOSiP ROMs.
I hope there is an explanation for this issue.
So it seems like Omni and ROMS based on it have it working correctly. I have deduced as much as that it is not related to the kernel.
I am guessing that it is most probably related to the specific device sources or Qualcomm sources used.
