What are the pros and cons of disabling logcat?
How much does it effect battery life and performance?

Con: you can't check logs to see what happens when something goes wrong.

Nearly impossible to measure. Leave it disabled for a while and see if you notice a difference. Then post your findings here.

It seems that logcat does effect performance!

Benchmarks are not very accurate. You could have gotten that difference simply from re running the benchmark regardless of whether or not log cat was enabled or disabled. Hence why I said up top its almost impossible to measure.

I have gotten this error on Zeus, Caty, Jetpack, and Galaxian. And not just once! It has happened while doing a variety of tasks, and sometimes just shuts down and goes to this screen when idle. Amy ideas?

....and I am not trying to single out any ROM, or claim they are bad. Just very curious as to what this is! I never seen it before. I am currently back to Sensation 1.1, which this has never occurred on.
I don't know anything about it, but use google to find your answer

That could be it. Although, it's never occurred on other ROMs. I've been using the same kernel/modem combo (whatever's the latest modem) for quite a while. It's just a strange occurrence.
Some stated it being some apps. Others say gps. And one said overheating. I hope someone can give us some insight on what it can be.

real great review.
Can you specify if and how would you disable Google+ for example?
I succeed with Twitter for HTC Sense and CAR but tried the Google+ and Locations with no success...
Thanks for the comments
@orenfl
Same way I did for the other apps, settings>apps>choose the app to disable>click the "disable" button on the top right

Thank you for that.
I noticed your version vs. mine and then I found out that I got an update which made this software to disable the enable/disable button.
Once I removed those updates I could disable the software.
No problem, glad you got it sorted out now
Great Review!

It takes care of a lot of the questions I had about the S.
The only two turn off's for me on this phone is the lack of a removable battery and no SD Card slot, NFC would be nice. It's still top of my potential upgrade list.
Just kind of curious if it's even possible to O/C the Nexus 5 GPU. My previous device was a Note 2 and that could be O/C'd twice its stock XD.

its possible. but you wont see a difference in performance(except more battery drain). we are limited in fps to 60fps. the nexus 4 gpu is/was overclocked as well, until people started to realize that it made no difference.
Fair enough.

Just an example.
But just as simms22 said, not visual advantage. I actually underclock to (potentially save power)

i underclock it slightly as well, 389mhz
Over clocking a GPU without a dedicated heatsink is just stupid.

I have looked through the battery stats but I can't find where it shows how long my screen has been on. This was on my gs3 with cyanogenmod, is the feature there or can I download an app to tell me?
I didn't see it in the OS either, but the GSAM Battery Monitor App can do it.

I've owned every Verizon flagship since the OG Droid and this is the only phone I've ever owned that doesn't show it.
Drives me nuts.

Must be.
Honestly, this is a first on any android device I've ever touched and owned, and I've had A LOT of phones. Makes no sense to me.
I spent hours looking and just accepted it as fact. Wonder if it's a bug, and I also wonder how easily someone could splice it into the code.
I'm decent with DBs and code, I just don't know where to look here.

Wakelock detector or better battery stats. The latter does more.

I have never seen these before until today...does anyone have any clue what they are? They go all the way up to 8.
The screenshot is the only information I have...I tried googling it but didn't find anything.
Thank you!

I want to say it's syncing issues, but I can't remember for sure. At any point, have you been out of range of wifi, or if not on wifi, poor data connection?
I will try to remember what caused the issue for me, because I have seen it before.

WiFi connection is strong, I was on WiFi the entire time this happened.
I just clean flashed so I am going to see what app was causing this, if you remember feel free to let me know.
Thanks!
