[Q] Use of double pen - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've bought an extra stylus for my N8005 (http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consum.../accessories/ET-S200EBEGSTD?subsubtype=others)
However, when the orginal stylus is in, you cannot use the other stylus. It means, stylus is active only the stylus housing is empty. In this case you have to take care of the orginal one while using the other one.
My question; any way to disable this stylus housing check and use the extra stylus while the original one is in?

Setting > S-Pen > uncheck "Battery saving"

^^^ What he said
I've been running 2 S-Pens with mine almost since I got it. My case has a pen holder so I never remove the captive one from it's slot

Thanks guys, I wasn't aware this. It's working perfect...

carrying TG01 stylus

Hi, this is my first thread on this forum.
I am awaiting delivery of a new TG01.
I was wondering how do you guys solved the problem of the lack of space for the stylus on TG01. I am thinking about a Mugen 2600 battery with cover which can hold the stylus, but I would prefer the thin device
many thanks
i dont use it
sorry if thats unhelpful lol i did used to just put the stylus in my pocket but since i installed a new keyboard i dont use it
ull need the extra battery either way ...
I do not use it too

I use my stylus all the time - I never touch the screen with my fingers.
I bought a silicone case for my TG01, and I keep a slim stylus (from my Touch HD) between the back of the TG01 and the case - there is a cut-out for the speaker that I use to insert and remove it.
Not a perfect solution, but it works.
That's one of the annoying things of our by the other side lovely device...(the other two are: stupid SD card access, and charge+usb+earphones in the same plug)
On my former device I only used stylus (with phatware CalliGrapher) but now I also use keyboard (Swype) sometimes. What I do it's having a lot of stylus anywhere: On my pocket, my car, my desk, ....
I use the stylus from a Samsung Genio and keep it attached to my keys... its a similar concept to Toshiba's own stylus but has a cap to protect the stylus nib. Another advantage is that the cap is retained on the keyring and the stylus part can be seperated for use, unlike the Tosh supplied stylus...
Only costs three quid too...

The Mugen 2600 mAh with his back cover solved the problem to me.
Yes it's doubled the tickness of the phone( it's a brick but I like it ), but in this cause I can hold it in my hands more stable and no need to charge the battery on every night, so it's worthed( solved 3 problems with Mugen 2600) .

This says its for the Jet but it looks the same to me...
@ a_petrov303
And, (in case you did not get your TG yet and noticed it by yourself) of course you can "hang" the original stylus to the Phone using the provided "string" or any other you like best...
Hang where? Those straps need a hole in the case to thread through. Yet another thing my old Treo Pro has over this phone.
Afraid my english is not good enough to explain this clearly: typically the kind of thing easier to do than describe; the quick start guide showed it, if I remember well; the "hole/hook" is in and behind the battery cover, near the speaker: you take battery cover out, have the "string" end griped in the "hook", place the battery cover having the string out by the speaker hole.
That really doesn't work. That hole is for the speaker.
It works with mine, but my explanations are not clear: not the speaker hole in the TG back but one kind of hole or hook, dunno the precise english word for it, near the speaker hole and then, the string out by the cover speaker hole: unless our tg are different? (I'll try to find my quick start guide this week end, and post a picture if that helps...)
Why don't you attach a picture?
Tanks!
The user guide actually says that it cannot be stored in the phone. On page 32 in English.

thank you, but I do not like the idea of hanging-near-the-the-phone-and-possibly-scratching stylus
Did not find my quick start guide, so hope shoots show enough.
Actually, I do not use the "string" for the stylus, I rather type with nails, and that was why I wanted a resistive touch screen in first place.
But I find it usefull when I use TG single handed, TG put on the four, string round one of them to prevent accidental fall and make screen orientation easier, typing with thumb nail.
Also hate digging for the phone down a bag's depths, where heavy stuff could crush it furthermore; so I sometime hang TG with string and "mousqueton"; of course, I would not dare treat poor phone that way if it hadn't silicon case and vikui screen protector.
The only tricky point: putting cover back with the string still in the right hole.
NB: background, another of dear TG pet accessories: small microfiber towell, good to clean screen without pressing, prevent dust or any small particle in the pocket get in and fuss with speakers holes; can also work extra cushion depending what I carry TG with; not very glamorous indeed, but efficient.

[Q] S Pen Detach issue

I have a spare S Pen with holder that I ordered from Amazon so I wouldn't have to remove the tablet one all the time to make notes. When I got it, I thought it wasn't working. Then I discovered that when the original pen is in the tablet, the pen functions are turned off. Is there any way to use a second s pen with the original still attached to the tablet? Thanks!

My s-pen from Note 5.3" works on the 10.1" with the pen in the dock. Maybe it's a pen option setting?

Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard

Been using this for a day now, aesome and very stylish.
Best part it doubles as a case, also has the android key functions on the keyboard.
Keyboard takes a little adjusting to a small but very good quality.
Was originally £80 but got it for £50 from Samsung online.

Love mine too in the titanium bronze that matches my Best Buy 32gb Tab S. Great combo. Had 3 iPads and like this as much or better.

I got a Bluetooth keyboard too. Pure white, low-profile, and quiet typing, I think it just got all great things a keyboard should. If it is paper-thin, paper-light, then I'm in heaven!
Got mine in Titanium bronze too, love it. Can't go without it anymore.
Can you please advise if the keyboard and tablet can connect together with the tablet screen facing up rather than the screen facing down onto Keys?
Or is it possible to use a hard case on the table with the keyboard?

It cannot close that way because the recessed part that the tablet hooks into is expecting a curve instead of the straight edge of the tablet face.
No...there is no way a case would work with this. It is very snug.
My observations are the case could use a couple of magnets to keep the tablet in the slot.
And I don't like that the keys are cupped, flat keys would allow more strike tolerance...
Otherwise it's a great case and definitely protect the device well...
PS... I agree with the question that it would be nice if the tablet snapped in facing up so make the case and tablet one piece when holding...
I swapped back to the book case but purely as I wasn't typing as much.
The case combo is so cool though.
Battery life lasts ages for me but I'm and infrequent user.

Do you think one can DIY? I think it can be done by using double-sided tape and a few strip of magnets. Tape a strip on the slot and one the bottom back side of the tablet. How about velcro tape? Something similar to iPad's smart cover.

The problem is it raises the tablet and makes it unstable. The magnet needs to be inside the case/keyboard to work right.
As it is it works fine on a flat surface like a table, the problem is using it on your lap or other places where tablets replace laptops...
I've all but stopped trying to type on the keyboard, the cupping on the keys makes it next to impossible to get used to... I got the Logitech keyboard to type on and just use this one as a hard shell case...
Does the keyboard work like a usb keyboard or you can only use it as bluetooth?

Best stylus for the SM-T380?

Hello,
I just bought 2 days ago the Samsung galaxy tab A 8.0 (2017_ SM-T380 model.
It didn't come with any type of stylus and I read that it being the T series that the S-Pen wont work with it.
Does anyone know of a stylus I can use for it that's in some what of a comparison to the S-Pen?
I know they make these stylus I saw in Best Buy called the Bamboo stylus. I don't know much about them or if they even work with this model of tablet. I had found them in the section with all the iPad accessories.
Thank you
the 3m stylus seem to be pretty good.
I am using a pretty cheap fenix stylus being stored on a tragus 8 inch cover case I bought at target on I believe I bought black Friday 2019 it was pretty cheap. I am using the cilp on the stylus to keep it on the case. The tablet wont go to sleep if you close It and I had to cut one of the corners of the Gray part to make the Power and Volume buttons accessible. And the gray parts would pop off every once in a while.

High probability of losing the pen

After using the S6 over the weekend a few times, I'm almost sure I will lose the pen unless I buy a case that covers it. While I like the idea of how it sits on the back of the tablet slightly indented they should have made the magnet the whole pen instead of just the pointer area. Its not strong enough to hold it in place from an accidental hand bump etc.
I have the keyboard cover on order (arriving Friday). I'm being extra cautious with the pen until that arrives. It doesn't take much of a bump to knock it off.

I agree that the method of stowing the stylus this year is terrible. On the other hand, in previous years the stylus couldn't be stowed at all, so in that sense, it's an improvement.
The keyboard cover, on the other hand, is a big improvement on the design of previous years. With that, the stylus can be very safely transported.
Duct tape fixes everything. Or for a more permanent solution, a little JB Weld and your S-Pen isn't going anywhere. Ever.
So i got my tab yesterday, at first Ithought the attachment wasn't bad, but then after using for the day Ihave to say Itoo am very dissapointed in the spen attachment. This is nearly as dangerous as the oriignal apple pencil pluggin into the bottom port of the ipad to charge. Do the people that design these things actually try to use them?

The Note phones somehow have enough room to store the S-Pen inside. Why can't they find the room on a 10" tablet? I know the pen is thicker but I think most people would trade a slightly thinner pen for a way to securely store it.
If you're actively using the device but not the pen it'll also stick to the lower right side of the device in portrait mode. Not a great solution, but I find it easier to have it there and not accidently knock it off like when it's on the back. It doesn't charge in this location, but that shouldn't be an issue since this pen uses a battery with longer life then the capacitor style like the Note 9 was. Or I just toss it on the table/couch/whatever near me if I'm at home or work. Within reach when I want it, but not going to fall off when I absentmindedly grab the tablet in the wrong way.
I'm waiting on my keyboard cover to arrive and then I don't think it being on the back will be a big deal anymore. Kind of sucks that's where it has to go to charge because I liked my case for my S3 that held it to the left of the screen in the hinge of the screen cover part basically. Sucks they've never made a more permanent solution, and this is the first time it actually has a storage spot, but so long as the devices get thinner and thinner I don't see them putting it inside like on the Notes since they want the tablet pens to be more ergonomically friendly.
I lost my S-Pen early in. One solution was using an Otterbox. The Tab could be secured to the tablet cover/stand, face-up, so the pen is secured.
In the interim, I am using a spare pen from a Fujitsu Lifebook tablet.

I bought this one and it holds the pen very nicely. It's easy to get in and out.

Has anybody ever succeeded in buying a full-function replacement pen from Samsung? I tried to buy a spare one when I bought the Tab S6, but all I got was a glazed stare from the salesperson. Would be nice if Samsung at least tried to make up for the sucky magnet. ;-DeanoD

They're listed on Samsung's website:

Besides the gray, rose and blue are also available.
