Best stylus for the SM-T380? - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Accessories

Hello,
I just bought 2 days ago the Samsung galaxy tab A 8.0 (2017_ SM-T380 model.
It didn't come with any type of stylus and I read that it being the T series that the S-Pen wont work with it.
Does anyone know of a stylus I can use for it that's in some what of a comparison to the S-Pen?
I know they make these stylus I saw in Best Buy called the Bamboo stylus. I don't know much about them or if they even work with this model of tablet. I had found them in the section with all the iPad accessories.
Thank you

the 3m stylus seem to be pretty good.

I am using a pretty cheap fenix stylus being stored on a tragus 8 inch cover case I bought at target on I believe I bought black Friday 2019 it was pretty cheap. I am using the cilp on the stylus to keep it on the case. The tablet wont go to sleep if you close It and I had to cut one of the corners of the Gray part to make the Power and Volume buttons accessible. And the gray parts would pop off every once in a while.

Galaxy tab 8.9 Book Cover - Ivory

Today I get Galaxy Tab 8.9 Book Cover. Very nice and solid material (high quality plastic). Looks good and expensive. Little heavy... In it tab is stable and does not fall out.
More pictures....
...I don't see volume button cut-outs.
Dont have..... Must be open to get volume controls.
I have the same case, it's really good quality (but rather expensive too). Mine does have the volume buttons cut-out though, odd.
I also have the same case (dark version) and I don't have cut outs for volume OR power
Whoops I was mistaken, I don't have access to the volume rocker when the case is closed. Never had to use them that way anyway so it's not an issue to me.
I was going to start a thread reviewing this case but someone beat me to it! The photos do a good job, so I won't post my own unless someone wants them. I'll give a review of it though in this thread.
The quality of this case is top notch. The back of the case, where the galaxy tab 8.9 clips in is a thicker type plastic which offers rigid protection. The flap which covers the screen is a thinner material which I can't place. An extension of the front cover creates a flap, that when closed, uses a magnet to snap in place. The clips which the tablet snaps into come right around the edge to be flush with the plane of the screen. There is a cut out for the power button and headphones, but none for the volume rocker. The left and right edges of the tablet in landscape mode are slightly exposed. The case doesn't add a lot of bulk or weight, offering the minimum material necessary for protection. Maybe not noticed in the photos are two features which help this case out. One is the rubber grips on the bottom to help the case stand the tablet up. The other is a thin strip cutout on the back which allows the end of the flap to support the tablet at about 15 degrees, which makes for the perfect angle for viewing and typing while laying on a desk.
The only problem I can find with the tablet is that when the case is open, the rear facing camera is blocked by the flap. I noticed this complaint in a few reviews on the GT10.1 case and the solution is to rotate the tablet 180 degrees where the cover is dangling down and the camera is at the bottom of the tablet. Problem solved.
My overall impression of the tablet is great. I'm very happy with the case. It's a little pricey, but sometimes you have to pay for quality. The ivory color is sharp; a good change from the sea of black cases out there. All in all I would buy it again. In fact I might be doing just that if my wife wants to trade in her 10.1 GT for the 8.9 because she's jealous of my tablet AND case.
EDIT: To add some high quality photos, since I had them.
Just received my case (in black) and loving. I am trying to work out a way to toggle the screen on and off when the case is opened, perhaps using Tasker and the light sensor. However, the Power On option isn't available in Tasker. Anyone have an idea how to make this work?

Is it the official samsung case ? it looks like the official one on the 10.1.
If so, can you give me its reference number
Official samsung case, yes
EFC-1C9NIECSTD for white version
That looks really nice. It would be perfect for my wife, if she gets an 8.9 Tab.
I have the black version and love it to death. I thought the price was too high before buying it.
I was hoping for somewhere around the $50 range. But, oh well, it was very well thought out and the quality is excellent.
At the end of the day I'm super happy with it and would highly recommend it to anyone.

This is an official Samsung case and it`s very comfortable & solid thing.
I think - must have)))
I found a seller on ebay that sells it for just $40
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170790359146#ht_1623wt_1130
Nice looking case!
I can't really tell from the pictures, but I'm pretty sure there is no access to the dock connector when the tablet is in a stand position, right?
So having a USB flash drive connected for the purpose of watching movies is out of the question, right?
Edit: nevermind.. dumb question I think I'm gonna go with the keyboard dock or something..
just got mine in black. I rock all my cell phones "naked" so I dont have much experience in casing, but I couldnt be happier. quality stuff.
Nice, but when you close cover, you can hear music because it cover two speaker too

Samsung Note 8 BookCover vs MiniSuit Case Review (with Photos)

I had the chance to try out 2 different "Folio" type cases this week, and decided to do a review comparing them. Here are the competitors:
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 BookCover - $49.99
MiniSuit Classic Standing Case with HandStrap - $14.95
Both cases are generally good, but with weaknesses that would have been easily fixed with more forethought. To start off I will show a few pics comparing the general size and thickness of the two cases.
~
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 BookCover
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 BookCover
Samsung BookCover is the thinner of the two but also offers less protection. It was only available in white when I purchased is, but there should be other colors available shortly. The BookCover is easily removable, and cutouts allow for access to all ports, buttons, sensors, etc except for the MicroSD slot. There is what I assume to be a magnetic sensor towards the left side bezel of the device, because there is a “Sleep / Wake” feature with the BookCover which seems to work well to lock and unlock the device. Unfortunately there are no magnets that hold the cover closed against the front of the screen, or when flipped to the back to the device. Cover flap is a soft material that will do well protecting the screen, but will also most likely get dirty over time as I have seen with other covers of this type.
The smaller of the two angled views (around 30 degrees) works very well, and stays in place while navigating and typing on the device.
The more upright angled view is a pain to deal with. If you don’t have a perfectly flat surface, forget about using this one. Even when on a flat surface, the back kept wanting to kick out, as it seems the tablet isn’t heavy enough to hold it in place. They really should have developed a method for this view what would attach the folding flap to the body of the case, using a slot or magnets, because the current method does not work well at all.
Pros:
Light and Thin
Sleep / Wake function built in
Access to all ports and buttons
Easy to hold, comfortable feel
Cons:
Little protection from drops / spills
Angled views are difficult to maintain in active environment
No magnets or strap to keep flap closed over front of screen
No S Pen holder
MiniSuit Classic Stand Case with Handstrap for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0
MiniSuit Classic Stand Case with Handstrap for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0
I actually purchased the MiniSuite before the Note 8 was even available in the US, and it was at my door the day before the Note 8’s release (thank you Amazon Prime). I purchased the Navy Blue, but there are many other colors currently available. Overall it has been a good case, and has done an excellent job of protecting the device in a household that has 3 children under the age of 5. There are magnets to keep the flap closed on the front of the case, but there is no Sleep / Wake functionality with this case. I also like that they included an elastic band to hold the S-Pen. I personally like using the larger Samsung S-Pen that has the eraser function on the back, and it fits perfectly in the elastic loop. There is another elastic loop on the cover flap that allows you to insert your and when flipped around to the back, and hold the device more secure one-handed. I personally haven’t used this much, but I can definitely imagine some scenarios where this could come in handy. It is thicker than the Samsung option, but the added bulk doesn't make the device any more difficult to hold. The fake leather isn’t slippery and is somewhat soft to the touch.
The smaller of the two angled views isn’t as stable as the Samsung cover, but the more upright view is much better and stable. This is largely due to the fact that the cover slides into a slot that keeps it from moving. I have not had any issues with the device falling over while in this position, even when sitting on my bed with kids jumping around me.
Pros:
Magnets to keep flap closed over front of screen
Built in S-Pen holder
Access to all ports and buttons
Easy to hold, comfortable feel
Will hold up to drops / spills fairly well
Angled views are difficult to maintain in active environment
Cons:
Does add considerable bulk to the device
No Sleep / Wake function built in
Of the two cases, the MiniSuit will be staying on my device, and the Samsung BookCover is going back to Best Buy. I could have overlooked not having magnets to keep it closes, and no S-Pen holder, but not being able to watch movies while propped up unless sitting absolutely still killed any chance of me wanting to keep this accessory. The MiniSuit has been great up to this point, and I have found an application that mimics the “Sleep / Wake” function when the cover is used, so my main gripe has been satisfied. Plus the fact that this case is $35 less than the Samsung option, makes the decision a lot easier.
Feel free to ask any questions that I may not have covered above. Thanks.

CaseSensor for Tablets
So far its working very well with the Note 8, as long as its calibrated correctly.

So being that not having a magnet to deliver the Sleep / Wake function is my biggest gripe against the MiniSuit, I am looking at a way to fix it.
After a bit of experimentation, I found the location that activates sleep / wake. I had originally assumed it was along the bezel, but turns out its behind the screen edge. The location is shown in the attached screen shot. Going to adhere a tiny magnet to the cover and see how it responds. Its below the level of the bezel covet, so shouldn't scratch the sceen at all (although I do use a screen protector just in case).

The magnet install works great, and the Sleep / Wake function is dead on. Took about 5min to install the magnet, and the backing so the magnetic field didn't effect the device when the cover is folded around to the back. Also has no effect on the S-Pen, which is good to see.
Now the main negative of this case is no longer an issue.

At a local fabric / craft store for ¢79.
Be careful ordering from this supplier (linked in above post)! Shipping takes forever even with their "airmail". I placed an order on the 18th, and just got shipping notification yesterday (11 days later), with a shipping number, but no way to track it (Hong Kong air mail tracking doesn't seem to recognize it). So I still have no clue to when it will arrive, or even if this is a legitimate business. I am willing to give them 10 more days before I raise the issue with my credit card company since shipping from China does have a tendency to take a couple of weeks or even more, so it's probably nothing to be concerned about, just slow mail.

I have the original Samsung BookCover (green). Keeping it standing is difficult but you can have this http://www.amazon.com/Targus-Design...=1367327608&sr=8-1&keywords=targus+ipad+stand
Or if you have Note 2 (or S3 or S4) with extra battery charger, you can use the stand to hold it.
Thanks for the comparison. I want the Samsung model, but it seemed overpriced and I went with the MiniSuit. Its been pretty good, with three minor complaints.
Like you, I was disappointed it didn't do automatic turn-on/lock functions when the cover was opened or closed. Your magnet mod looks pretty simple, so I'm gonna give that a shot.
When folding the front cover to use it as a stand, the device is pretty unstable in either position. When vertical, a stiff breeze would knock this thing over face first.
The other thing that really chaps my hide is the orientation. When its laying prone but propped up, the home button is on the left side of the case. Its really a "me issue", but the tablet I've been using for the last few years was the opposite, and I find myself constantly reaching for the home button and only hitting the Samsung logo on top. A little annoying, but really no problem.
Not the last case I'll ever buy for this thing, but for $15 its great. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're waiting on an Otterbox or Trident solution. This'll keep your Note intact till the real protection comes out.

Worth the wait!
I just had a chance to get online again after a couple of months. I have been extremely busy.
Anyhow, I logged on to xda as I am looking for reviews about minisuit's cases. I have been an online shopper since 2009 and I am totally used to shipping delays lol. For me its no big deal. What really made me purchase items from minisuit was the fact that this company offer great discounts on almost all of their items and even if you are a new customer you can still avail big discounts when you purchase more items online.
Just last week I purchased 5 pieces of different gadget cases from minisuit. Apart from offering low prices to customers this company also sell durable and lasting cases.
Thanks and Best wishes everyone!
I also have this case I got from Amazon It's the MiniSuit 8.0 case right? It's really lovely

Can you use a magnetic tape instead of a magnet ?
I guess these too are easily available in a hobby shop and are a bit softer compared to a magnet..

I have wondered about that too.
I also have high strength rare-earth magnets, (real tiny ones), I guess I can stick these to the case with some gaffers tape, but do we need a faint magnet or a strong magnet.
My note is in shipping, should get it next week... I gave up on waiting for the 32GB version.

I have a stylus looks like that too , work perfectly with this screen , even a metal stick will work :v
Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works with Tab S
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Galaxy C-Pen Stylus Pen works perfectly with the 8.4" Tab S. Though the product specs say it works only on S3, I tried it wit the Tab S and it just glided.
The pen looks premium with a metal body and a hard tip. The hard tip gives it a nice feel while writing as compared to the usual hollow rubber tips.

I can tell you do not get the Wacom Bamboo Fineline. Apparently in this case, when the box says it's for ipad, they mean it. It's bluetooth and it paired with the tablet, but even using one of the special apps that are made specially to work with wacom styli (Bamboo Paper), this didn't work any better than a $9 Targus slim 6mm. If you hold the pen exactly perpendicular, the tablet registers the point. If you hold the pen like a human being at an angle to the surface, the tablet registers a point 2 or 3 mm away from where the point touches the surface, in the direction that the pen leans. Garbage. So I have a Samsung C-pen coming in the mail from ebay. Probably the only time I'm glad I have relatives who own ipads. haha
Hi Guys,
does anyone know if the Note 3 stylus would work?
No the S-pen does not work at all. Yes I tried, I have a note2 and note3. S-pen requires special digitizer hardware behind the screen.

So I'm planning on getting the same pen I think?
ETCS10CSE Silver Spare C Pen Stylus ?
How has it been for you? Smooth? Accurate? Does it make any sound when gliding? leave any smudges, marks? Because going by the reviews on: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...&keywords=ETCS10CSE+Silver+Spare+C+Pen+Stylus
It has an equal amount of negative reviews of it saying pressing too hard or rubber tore off etc etc. So this can be completely unusable for some Samsung devices?

The thin tip does not allow for much give and also the tip does bend under slightest pressure. Thats why I prefer wider tip stylus. I have tested numerous pens, and the cheapest 1,- EUR thingies turned out to be as good as the most expensive ones, if not better. The Wacom Bamboo works nicely too, though it is a bit heavy for my likings.

Which stylus and cover for Asus Zenpad Z500KL ?

I just bought (in Italy) the tablet Asus Zenpad 3s 10 LTE (Z500KL) but no genuine accessories seems to be available on the market.
Do you know where I can find the ASUS Z Stylus or any compatible one with same functionality and fit?
Or which characteristics I should look for in a compatible stylus (i.e. capacitive, resistive, inductive etc.)?
I'm also looking for Asus Folio Cover or any other cover with custom shell for Z500KL.
Thanks in advance for help!
Marce
Hi,did you find any compatible stylus?I placed the order for the tablet some days back.Disappointed to see that the Z stylus is no longer available.
I can vouch for this 2-pack of capacitive styl-..styluses-...styli-..sty...stylusseses...
I can vouch for this capacitive stylus design; it comes in a 2pack ($15)
capacitive=passive, universal (like the ****s of conductive rubber that come attached to pens, but like different material and on steroids)
amazon /MEKO-Universal-Precision-Capacitive-Replacement/dp/B00N1BRWLA/
they have a stubby end which is very very responsive but not very accurate for writing (if you write small like i do)
and they have a plastic end with a disk on it, with a piece of metal that has a thin layer of plastic over it, and touches via proximity, you can see exactly what the point is drawing when you're using this end, but it can be a little unresponsive
(i accualy took a nail file to the plastic tip and sanded down so the metal gets closer to my screen, and it started working g r e a t )
ASUS also makes a capacitive stylus with the plastic disk tip. comes without the microphone-like end, and comes in a one-pack tho ($15)
amazon /Transformer-BoxWave-FineTouch-Capacitive-Precise/dp/B00TUPRFP4/
as far as active stylusesesyli go, there are a few zenpad ones on amazon for like $200, which hecking sucks, i'm really sorry. have you checked the compatibility of the ASUS pen? ($50)
amazon /Asus-Active-Stylus-Silver-90NB0000-P00100/dp/B01LYQEREB/
how about the wacom bamboo pen? this is another good generic microsoft-compatible active stylus. ($66)
amazon /Wacom-Windows-Touchscreen-Devices-Surface/dp/B076VQB8DQ/
also the BETOP surface pen is a very good microsoft-compatible active stylus ($40)
amazon /dp/B0716LK55W/
i really hope this helps! it's super hecked that ASUS still sells zenpads but no z stylus. you technically CAN buy a z stylus on amazon, but it's like a dang collectors item ($200+)
amazon /Stylus-ZenPad-Z580CA-Z300C-Z500M/dp/B014D6K38U/
also probably the highest rated active stylus that's in the lowest price range is the zspeed, which is rechargeable (bonus over most others listed here) and has a durable but not scratchy metal tip, assuming you don't drop it on concrete or something ($30)
amazon /Zspeed-Precision-Android-Samsung-Tablets/dp/B01LWJZ2JX/
I really hope that this list helped you decide! there are T O N S of options for you, and i wish there was a way for me to time travel and get you that Z stylus!
xx kendall
This place sells z stylus for a normal $37.00. I just ordered one, let's see how it goes. Link bellow,

High probability of losing the pen

After using the S6 over the weekend a few times, I'm almost sure I will lose the pen unless I buy a case that covers it. While I like the idea of how it sits on the back of the tablet slightly indented they should have made the magnet the whole pen instead of just the pointer area. Its not strong enough to hold it in place from an accidental hand bump etc.
I have the keyboard cover on order (arriving Friday). I'm being extra cautious with the pen until that arrives. It doesn't take much of a bump to knock it off.

I agree that the method of stowing the stylus this year is terrible. On the other hand, in previous years the stylus couldn't be stowed at all, so in that sense, it's an improvement.
The keyboard cover, on the other hand, is a big improvement on the design of previous years. With that, the stylus can be very safely transported.
Duct tape fixes everything. Or for a more permanent solution, a little JB Weld and your S-Pen isn't going anywhere. Ever.
So i got my tab yesterday, at first Ithought the attachment wasn't bad, but then after using for the day Ihave to say Itoo am very dissapointed in the spen attachment. This is nearly as dangerous as the oriignal apple pencil pluggin into the bottom port of the ipad to charge. Do the people that design these things actually try to use them?

The Note phones somehow have enough room to store the S-Pen inside. Why can't they find the room on a 10" tablet? I know the pen is thicker but I think most people would trade a slightly thinner pen for a way to securely store it.
If you're actively using the device but not the pen it'll also stick to the lower right side of the device in portrait mode. Not a great solution, but I find it easier to have it there and not accidently knock it off like when it's on the back. It doesn't charge in this location, but that shouldn't be an issue since this pen uses a battery with longer life then the capacitor style like the Note 9 was. Or I just toss it on the table/couch/whatever near me if I'm at home or work. Within reach when I want it, but not going to fall off when I absentmindedly grab the tablet in the wrong way.
I'm waiting on my keyboard cover to arrive and then I don't think it being on the back will be a big deal anymore. Kind of sucks that's where it has to go to charge because I liked my case for my S3 that held it to the left of the screen in the hinge of the screen cover part basically. Sucks they've never made a more permanent solution, and this is the first time it actually has a storage spot, but so long as the devices get thinner and thinner I don't see them putting it inside like on the Notes since they want the tablet pens to be more ergonomically friendly.
I lost my S-Pen early in. One solution was using an Otterbox. The Tab could be secured to the tablet cover/stand, face-up, so the pen is secured.
In the interim, I am using a spare pen from a Fujitsu Lifebook tablet.

I bought this one and it holds the pen very nicely. It's easy to get in and out.

Highly recommend! Not everyone has the same requirements https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81903145&postcount=24) but I tried four other cases before this one.

That's the one I bought. I like it very much.
Has anybody ever succeeded in buying a full-function replacement pen from Samsung? I tried to buy a spare one when I bought the Tab S6, but all I got was a glazed stare from the salesperson. Would be nice if Samsung at least tried to make up for the sucky magnet. ;-DeanoD
