[Q] fastboot without sim - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an hd razr, i need to send it back on a swap. it has been rooted. Can i fastboot the phone back without a sim card. Its currently on 4.1.2... Thanks For the help....

If you find a easy to understand guide on how to go from 4.1.2 rooted back to 4.0.4 stock, please, link it here. I can't find it.
I'm pretty sure there's no way around the sim though.

my friend just got an inspire and he was asking me about how to help him root it and whatnot (cause he knows i have a cappy). and i was wondering what the simplest way to go back to totally stock was, like if there was an ODIN One Click for this phone like the cappy.

There is no "true" one click method for the inspire. Check out the guide that mudknot wrote and that should help out tremendously.

so when do you install the stock RUU, while you are still in the bootloader or let the phone boot up

Pleasae help with a rooting problem

I was quite disappointed to find that Verizon had blocked Google Wallet, so I rooted my SCH-i535 with the directions I got here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
Based on some things I picked up, I didn't think I needed to unlock the bootloader. I installed Prl91's Google Wallet, went through the whole process, and when it rebooted the phone shut down. If I pull the battery and push the volume up + Home+ power, it will go into recovery mode, and I can reboot, but then it shuts down again.
I'm getting really anxious about having a working phone again and would appreciate any help.
You don't need an unlocked bootloader for that. Had you installed a recovery yet? If so did you make a backup? By the way since you can get into recovery this is an easy fix. I just need to know where you are at.

No I haven't installed a recovery.
I didn't think you would need to be unlocked for that, but in the post I guess you do. So Not a way but still fixable

Yes you can use rsd lite to return to 100% stock and then try the ota..i recommend upgrading to leak 1 since you cant go back to gb if you update to ics ota

Just use the 2.3.6 FXZ through RSD lite. If you want good webtop then stay at 2.3.6, because webtop 3.0 is more like tablet mode and not ubuntu anymore.
Here is a link to get the 2.3.6 fxz:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.25_cfc_p3_APBP.xml.zip
All of the FXZ files are here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
If you really want to try ICS, then I would go for leak one from 2.3.6 just do not root or install anything while in 2.3.6.
Here are the instructions for that. Again though ICS does not have ubuntu for webtop, it is just android in tablet mode:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968
If you like the ubuntu webtop and want to stay on 2.3.6, my hack works really well for unlocking the full potential of ubuntu webtop, that is here:

What do you mean you replaced the boot image? please give me a link to the thread you go that from... that is quite disturbing.
What I need you to do is to flash the 2.3.6 fxz file with RSD lite, and watch each step and make sure you get a PASS at the end, if not you might be failing in one of the steps, I think there are like 18 steps or something in the AT&T FXZ. I really need to know which step it is failing on, it should be something like step 3/18 or something like that... I really need to know that or if it goes all the way to the end and say PASS.
If you can grab a screen shot of the error or PASS that might also help as well.

Yeah not the best idea. That ONLY should apply to NON-ATT phones, all you just did was put the 2.3.5 boot image on the 2.3.6 bad flash, you are still not whole. You may not be able to get this all right, after doing that, not easily at least... those instructions were out WAY before we had an official 2.3.6 FXZ, which is what you should be using.
I still need to know where RSD is failing, that is crucial to know what is happening.
From here on, if you want my help, DO NOT do anything unless I ask you to please!!! I am one the devs on this phone and our resident expert here. I am very meticulous, but I will get you back but you need to take this one step at a time, and do only what I ask and report back.

Yeah unfortunately you are screwed, sorry to say. The white LED means it is dead, no bringing it back. That is why I was trying to figure where things were going wrong, rather than having you risk further issues.
You might be able to find an atrix2 with a broken screen cheap on ebay and just put the good motherboard from that in your phone, and get yourself back up and running, I have seen them for 50-100 USD on ebay. There are instructions on how to replace the screen in the general section.

Well, they will most likely send it back to you with a referb, and it WILL have the stock ICS on it, and you will NOT be able to get back on GB and use the ubuntu webtop.

well i know ...
i hate ics....the design is so poor.... GB much better style
may be as softaware some improvements but the style sucks....
not to talk about the webtop feature thats the only reason that push me to buy an atrix instead of a galaxy...
i only hope you guys will find a way to crack the bootloader....
thanx
Hello, I am sorry if I am hijacking this thread but that is not my intention. I have a similar situation here that I need help with. I just bought a used Atrix 2 yesterday and I am unable to use that.
It is running the following:
Android Version: 2.3.5
System Version: 55.11.11.MB865.ATT.en.US
Build Number: 5.5.1-175_EDFFW1-11
It was in factory reset after mode so i followed the instruction to register with google and my gmail added. But when go to contacts, it keep rotating to open AT&T address book and never comes out of it. So I cannot use my google contacts and has to dial the numbers every time (sucks). Secondly, I called AT&T about the address book problem and was told that is not their problem and asked me to update the Android. I tried updating endlessly but the phone always says 'The software is upto date and no update is necessary!" really?
I called at&t again w/o much success. Then I called Motorola and was told that the phone is running a strange unofficial (really, again?) android version that they cannot help either.
I did confirm the phone is not rooted.
Now, I have a beautiful looking phone that i cannot use. I am not familiar with rooting and all sorta things and can you please help me so i can use this phone?
Thanks a ton.

root the phone and remove all the att blotware...
doing this will remove att address book serch.....

Misdirection on root and I'm lost.

I'm on the OTA JB and stock. Is there anyway to gain root without having to go back and then reinstall JB? I had hoped someone would have come up with a straight forward means of rooting this device as with the old one click. I hope it's in the works.

sorry that is the only way at the moment
I had tried to "save root" on ICS beforehand but because I flashed JB through an SBF it did not work to retain it. I flashed SuperSu through CWM recovery and got root on stock JB.
My bootloader is unlocked BTW.

[Q] Which root to use for my 4.1.2 phone

I haven't been on XDA in an incredible amount of time and want to get back into the swing of things. Currently I can only find root guides for phones that are on a different android version than my GS3. It's been awhile, so forgive me if I have said anything that doesn't make sense.

There's nothing in this procedure about wiping and that may be what went wrong when I used it? Please comment those who know...Also to let you know; I updated to 4.1.2 and got soft bricked. I tried the guide again and couldn't find enough information on how to make the recovery work, where to place the recovery, etc. Couldn't get a reply to pleas for help.. ended up doing a factory reset from the dead recovery image and am now in 4.1.1. Maybe I can root from here. But since my only rooting experience before this was Droid and easy I'd like some help. Not sure where to get it.If my postings are a pain its because I'm a bit freaked by the difficulty of rooting this device.
You can try this. If you want to take a ota after flashing install ota rootkeeper...read all the directions to temp unroot and regain root after update.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436
The posted 4.1.2 file is not a stock file it was a leak. Use 4.1.1 K3.....follow the directions in the thread.
