*****WHY THIS POST*****
Hey guys, I am a product manager of UC Browser and to make it a better one we need to hear from more users especially you fellows. We do hope you could leave us some comments about the very product no matter it is a compliment or criticism, we are all ears. Thank you.

How about upload manager? That's what android really needs. You currently have to use opera to file browse and upload. This worked fine on winmo, I still Dont understand how its not considered a basic feature in android.
Thanks for sharing.

FYI my handset is the HTC One XL, and I'm running the Carbon ROM.

So I tried it...
and got some issues...
that browser is good looking and it works fast.
But:
I can't see the multiple language support.
If you want to make it "world wide" you should allow users from outside the U.S. delete/edit Speed dial items to chose from. Let's say (for example) "Mercado Libre" is not as interesting as you might think.
Concerning all of your browsers: the "help buttons" are a joke, can't get any real information here.
Why don't you offer ad free versions of UC Browser and UC Browser mini? I would pay to use them.
You should give a clear statement which user data is collected/forwarded to your servers.
Regards!

Good browser. Using it for a time, but... Too many permission!

Hello, random hero. Thanks for your review.:good:
First I am sorry that I made a mistake because the beta version is only for English, the current version on Google Play and the release version for 9.0 support 7 languages. For the Speed Dial, you can long press on it to remove, and an edit option is put into consideration. Also the websites for Speed Dial recommendation are not very carefully chosen because it's the beta test, it is certain that the official release will make it right.
The content in "Help" may not provide really helpful info for users, as you mentioned, I have reported this to my colleague to make it with more guidance.
For the ad-free version, we will consider it seriously. For the moment, we are not pushing many ads to the browser and it's for sure that user experience is our priority. Thanks again for your feedback.:fingers-crossed:

Hello finally someone to listen for uc browser
Okay
This was the best browser on symbian and having used it for a long time I am way disappointed by the Android version
I have used both the normal and hd version
And here it goes
1) )u guys have an awesome in browser down loader I use this browser for precisely this purpose
One thing that can be added to the downloader is the option of changing links for an active download which stops like we do in loaderdroid download manager
2) the server compression program doesn't work as good as expected for countries like India
3) it displays annoying messages which should be hidden
Like page zoom saved there's no need to display that
4) the pinch to zoom is laggy as compared to any other browser
Talking about the normal version not the tablet one
Yes I mean it as compared to any other browsers and I am on s3 so it cannot be a hardware issue
Pinch to zoom needs to be way more smooth
5) the tablet version does not have any advanced option that used to exist in the symbjan version
So please change this also.....
6) the ui of the normal version is in general laggy
U need to let go of some of the transition effects and stick to faster animations
Rest I believe this browser has the potential to be the best android browser ever even better than chrome if u guys work on it
Right now my choice is naked browser
Feature requests
1) 1click copy paste and go like naked browser and copy all like naked browser
2) link changes for paused downloads like loader DROID download manager
3) porting features from s60v3 versions

Thanks for you feedback.
About the "upload" function, do you mean something like "Skydrive" on winmo?
To browser files on your device, you can use file manager in UC Browser (Setting-General-Downloads-File Manager), and the official release of UC Browser 9.0 will have UDisk(a free online storage function) so that you can upload and keep your files on the "cloud":fingers-crossed:

Yup and I almost forgot to applaud u guys for the browser stability this is a very stable browser and the download process is far more stable than any other browser be it default or third party this means no page reloads due to lack of ram etc
In terms of stability this is the best browser ever
But ui is laggy in the normal version so not using presently
Tablet version is so fat good will report after trying
Also what happened to the forum mode u guys had on the symbian version single most used feature by me
Reimplement it here
There was another feature which was pre loading pages wherever the word next etc appears and displaying them as continuous pages in the same page
Came in handy when reading or viewing vuclip
Reimplement it on Android
These are the unique features to ur browser u gotta bring it to the table

Skyfire for Android (Beta)

Here is a beta for Skyfire: Android does not have flash, it wudve been nice though, Enjoy!
Skyfire is a downloadable, free mobile browser that gives you a Web browsing experience exactly like PC browsing.
Did not see it posted here, Be Safe!
* Mod EDIT *
Please refrain from posting Alpha/Beta versions of Skyfire as we will be required to remove them as per Skyfire's request.
Appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
thanks for the upload
so is this as good and fast as opera mini?
Awesome, I notice it doesn't compress as much as Opera(pictures look better) but it still renders pages very quickly. Thanks for sharing!
Oh cool. I used Skyfire on my Windows Mobile phone before; it's an impressive browser. Going to try it out, thanks!
so whats the verdict guys? im in love with opera at the moment so not sure if ill use this?
I could not get videos to play
Extremely slow for my liking I will stick with opera
Yes! How's flash player?

lol he specifically said that no flash on android yet
Everyone is saying they use opera. Is it really that much better than the stock app? I tried opera a while back (like in october or november) and found it buggy, awkward, and basically unusable. Especially the bug with not being able to see what's being typed. Has it really improved past the flawless stock internet app?
Opera is amazing right now, trillion times better and faster
Seems really fast to me. The image quality is the best I have seen in a browser so far.
I have loved Opera Mini so far. It has been super fast, however here are some things that bother me and I wonder if there are workarounds.
1) When I click a link in a text, email, etc. I never have an option to open it with opera.
2) I can't find a way to put any Opera bookmarks on my homepage. I like to have a few bookmarks I can just click on for the few pages I visit often. Some type of widget would be even better.
All I got were fc's when I tried to run it

I know that... I mean that this is rendered server-side, for the purpose of showing flash. Otherwise, what's the point?
Hello to those on this thread. We appreciate the interest in our latest product for Android.
The early alpha version of our product that is being circulated is unauthorized and has been purposely disabled from connecting to our cloud service. Hence the controls are there, but without our server-side connection, the video and other functionality won't work. So if you think you have it working, you surely do not as all the key functionality that defines it as a Skyfire product has been disconnected.
Don't worry, you won't have to wait long as we will soon be launching the product for the public.

[APPS] Firefox for Android-is it good?

Anyone else using Firefox fr android? I installed the latest version, and to b honest I'm not tht impressed.I still feel that the stock browser is better.
Does anyone feel Firefox is faster?
The interface and the way u can go back, and switch between tabs is cool.

A newer beta version is out which takes only 17mb instead of previous 43mb.. Try installing that..
Opera Mobile for Android will be out in a few days, that for sure will be better option
Really?can't wait to try the opera.it might b good.wonder whthr Google will ever think of a mobile chrome. The current stock browser isn't chrome right?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Firefox Mobile its taking only 5.56 MB of internal space after sending most of it to SD. Hey, that's better than Google Earth at least The only reason why I'll continue to hold on to the default browser is because it is the only one so far that handles text reflow properly. By proper, I mean that it resizes the text to a legible size and then squeezes it all into a single column the width of the display.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
I used the new version last night and I didn't like it. The default UAstring was set to desktop so I had to install a user agent (phony). With phony installed i was able to select the agent and the experience was much better...but not better than HD Dolphin Browser.
Another option to explore would be 'MIUI Browser' it's awesome and it was just translated to English.
BTW 'phony' is a add-on. Inside of Firefox ->Settings-> Browse all add-ons-> type "phony" -> Download Now.
Agents under phony:
- Default
- Iphone
- Android
- Desktop Firefox
- Microsoft IE
I'm using an EVO
MIUM ROM 10.29
SNAP 7.6 kernel
Hope this helps.
Mi feelings no faster no flash 4 plugins
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yeah. the only thing i like about this browser is sync...
that's it.
And i'm not switcing to chrome.
Just tried beta 2 on a Galaxy Tab. I like the UI, and the page rendering is fine, but the thing takes about 4s to start up, and has no support for Flash plugin.
Not ready yet.
Firefox allows you to sync bookmark with your pc, it's a great features.
Too bad, the browser is that slow
I tried it out but I don't like the delay it takes for the text to become clear when zooming in.
It also takes more than 5 seconds to load up.
I also don't like the tabs being on the side, compared to the Default browser that has pinch to switch between tabs.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It still doesnt have flash, I dont use Firefox so IDC about sync, still pretty slow, file size still huge compared to other browsers, still feels slow to my standard browser(xScope) and it loads pages with a computer userID which makes the fonts look horrendous, It also has its own highlighting system which is weird. I'm always scrolling into the side bars. Still its in alpha and the fact that it has plugins makes it amazing by itself, and for anyone who tried the first release of fennec when compared to the latest release of Firefox mobile knows the huge improvements they have made, hopefully the development will move to the right direction.
Well, looks bad as I expected. Firefrox was never good in innovation, they are only good in imitating other browsers. As the desktop version most features are "stolen" from other browsers like opera. So I will wait for opera mobile, but still the desire stock browser is good enough for almost everything.
try installed it yesterday and i feel it kindda slow..
also make my x10i laggy..
Dolphin Browser HD much better than Firefox.
I assume it doesn't work with a CDMA Hero... It was not shown on the supported list of the experimental ARMv6 nightly builds (about 2 links away from the Firefox Mobile download page)
Sent from my CDMA Hero running Cyanogen Mod using XDA APP
1-start up time is slow because firefox mobile doesn't use the built in webkit engine it uses its own so it has to load its libraries up every time it starts because of the way google makes third party libraries load or some such. It will most likely never start up as fast as webkit based browsers on android.
2. It IS faster than any webkit browser on android which includes dolphin hd etc. This has been proven in benchmarks.
3. Its because of the extra libraries it needs that its size is as large as it is there is no way around the fact that it will be bigger than all the other browsers. They don't use their own rendering engine.
4.It does not include flash support yet which i agree sucks but supposedly they are working with adobe on this.
Opera Mobile i believe does also use its own rendering engine which will make it firefox mobiles main competition.
It isn't as clean or fault-free as the stock browser (at least for my Epic). It is in early stages, and it has to be downloaded straight from Mozilla's website, as the market is flooded with outrageously misleading applications adorned the Firefox logo. I use it once in a while, but when I select the option to use Firefox as a browser after, say, clicking a link in an email, it fails to load completely and sticks on a blank, dark screen.
I am going to keep it, though. It's a nice alternative, although not much different.

Ouch, need that to be available. Is that on the short term roadmap? Should be a pretty easy feature to add.
I love new stuff like this. Downloading it now.
I'd like to see the desktop UA as well. I'm having issues using the YouTube mobile site. When I click on a video, it does not launch or ask me how I want to play the video. The full website works flawlessly. Overall, a very nice browser.

Web Browser Invert Colors Bookmarklet

I was looking for a solution to invert browser colors on my Epic4G. I look forward to a day when Cyanogenmod runs on the epic so I can use the modded browser with "invert colors". Dolphin HD's "Reader" addon was close, but it added padding to the browser on my Epic.
So... i decided maybe a javascript bookmarklet could do what i wanted. turns out, it did.
This has only been tested in the Android 2.3.4 stock browser. To use it, copy the code from the page linked to below into the clipboard and add a new bookmark, pasting the code into the URL box. Give it a name like "Invert Color". Then when you're viewing a page you want to invert, open the bookmarks menu, and click the bookmark.
http://tonymuka.com/js/
You still have to click the link for every page you browse to for now, but perhaps somebody knows a better way. I did try to contact Dolphin for info on writing Addons, but it doesn't seem very open. I haven't used firefox mobile too much yet, but maybe there is potential there...
I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, and since it might work on any device with a browser that supports bookmarklets, i put it in general. mods should feel free to move it with my thanks!
Enjoy!

It should work in any modern HTML compliant browser that supports javascript in bookmarks. You'll probably have to copy and paste the javascript into the bookmark and give it a try. Please let us know if it does I tried this weekend in Dolphin HD on Android, and in Mobile Safari on Apple's iPad2 and it works there too.

Unfortunately i don't know a way to make it permanent, i think the browser would have to allow such plugins to run automatically every time a page loads. (like a greasemonkey script, etc)
If you send a link to a page that wont invert I'll check it out and see if i can fix it. If it has a background image or flash there's not much i can do without removing background images altogether...

just try to make it permanent...like a cookie ect,,
or make an entire new browser and upload to marketplace for free
Tony, thanks for this. It inspired me to think about a more permanent solution using a web filtering proxy. I have proof that it would work, but I don't have the skills to develop this further. Would be great if you could take a look at this and see if you have any thoughts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17960461
Browsers that support web storage could probably do it.
Also the one browser I know wont have a problem making it permanent would be Opera Mobile, because it supports user javascript and css like the desktop browser does.
claimui, great idea, i'll check it out!
yareally, i'm an old opera fan, but haven't fallen in love with the mobile version despite several attempts... gotta love the user js and css though- didn't know you could use them on mobile too!

Yeah, it's not quite as friendly to do as the desktop browser, but you can set the userjs/usercss locations and such in opera.ini and mod whatever you like.
I semi wrote an informal tutorial on it in a thread for opera mobile in the forum area http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=9373312

Pardon me, but this is rediculous! How do you justify accessing your private site for a "bookmarklet" over 90 kb in size running and incorporating parts of several versions of jQuery??
I put it to you that this is spyware! Swapping foreground and background colors is a oneliner in any version of this bookmarklet, doesn't need any external sites, runs much faster and doesn't have privacy issues like this garbage!

Hi Tony M
Just to repeat it here:
Put the javascript in a gesture activated bookmark in dolphin hd for ease of use.
I also found this gem on css sheets with opera mobile.

I used to have an app that let you pass pages between browsers with intents. Lost it and can't remember the name!
Found it. It is called choose browser.
Pluck the best from each browser.

[APP][2.2+] Lynx Browser (Free) - a very fast web browser

Hi Guys,
Check out my new super fast Android browser at
https:// play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.weejim.app.lynx&hl=en
It is designed to get you the information you need quickly and is very frugal with your mobile data plan (by not downloading images).
It is actively being developed and now supports bookmarks.
Give it 5 stars if you like it.
Free feel to let me know how the app can be improved for you (I am always on a lookout for ways to make it better)
I would appreciate if you can refrain from giving the app a bad rating. I am just starting out, give me a chance to fix it for you
Cheers,
- WJ
Looks nice, i like the sidebar which you can swipe to get the history, however the ads are a bit in the way,
maybe you can only display it on the home page and that history bar.
i had some images not appearing, and a light holo theme would be nice.

Hi matgras,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I will add the light theme to the todo list.
The images are by design not meant to be displayed. Lynx browser is designed to be frugal on the amount of data downloaded from the web.
That said, I do recognized the need to give the users more choices, so it is possible that the rule may be relaxed in a future release, perhaps by allowing the user to opt for image download when they are on wifi.

Thanks everyone for checking out "Lynx Browser".
Some of you have enquired about an ads-free version of the app and this is definitely on the cards.
Quick survey:
How much would you be willing to pay for the app?
(I definitely would not want to over-price the app out of the market, but at the same time it has to be at a fair amount to compensate for loss of future ads earnings)

Just uploaded Lynx Browser (v0.1.12) to Google Play (may take a couple of hours to appear in the Play store around the world).
This new version will support deletion of bookmarks
Hi Matgras,
Just wanted to let you know that
v0.1.16 now comes with "Light" theme support

I'd recommend you going up to max 1,49$/€/whatever. That's an amount many people will donate as a thank-you for your work. Everything higher will need some consideration before purchasing.
Tried it and found it to be super fast.Good work developer !

I have received very useful feedback via emails from you guys and thank you very much for that
I love hearing from my users as it allows me to find out what is important to them and to address them before they uninstall the application.
I will try to resolve those issues that are easy to fix.
The more complicated ones will have to go into the todo list as I am still learning about android. But rest assured, I will take the suggestions into account when enhancing the app where feasible.

Paid version is also now available at

Immediately unistalled Opera mini after trying this browser. A very fast browser when connection’s crappy or when I only want words. Thanks!
Added: I don’t even need to check how much data i’ve saved when using this.
