[Q] 4.2.2 LiquidSmooth on Verizon GS III - No External SD Card - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I just updated my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III from Stable to Official 4.2.2 Liquid Smooth. I wiped all data.
For some reason I can access my phone's SD Card when inserted in my phone and plugged into my computer via cable, but I can't navigate the SD Card from the phone itself, and play music or videos from it.
Does this Rom support External SD Card? Is there something I am doing wrong?
Thanks

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 USB and SD card Storage

Hi everyone,
I've recently bought samsung galaxy ace 2 phone. And my question is regarding the usb storage and sd card storage. I searched the forum, but couldn't find solution to my problem.
In Galaxy Ace 2, GT-I8160, there are 3 kinds of storage being shown in the phone settings.
1. SD Card (the external sd card, which I've myself inserted in the phone and it is of 8GB)
2. USB Storage which is 1.2GB (which was built in storage I guess)
3. System Storage (which is also of about 1.1GB)
We know in android there are some apps which can be moved to SD Card, not all.
In other phones like my previous phone was HTC, in that phone when I moved an app to SD Card, it was moved to external SD card properly. But in samsung galaxy ace 2, whenever I move any app to SD card, it is moved to the usb storage, and not to the external sd card. And we know the usb storage of this phone is only 1.2GB. I want my apps (which are movable) to be moved to external sd card. What I've noticed, this phone is recognizing the usb storage as sd card.
Even if you go to settings - apps - Sd card, it'll show you the USB storage of 1.2GB, not the storage of my actual external SD card (8GB)
Why is this so? Why is this phone recognizing the usb storage as sd card storage. Why this phone is not recognizing my external sd card as the sd card storage?
Your response will be highly appreciated
Regards,
Omer.
I have the same problem and I just don't know which is which so basically I can't transfer anything.
Do you have the same phone? Samsung Galaxy Ace 2?
I think this is how it works may be. It is treating the USB storage as SD Card and ignoring the external SD card.
This may only be the case with samsung phones, because in HTC, the external sd card was considered as sd card and apps were moved to it.
Anyways I've found the following link regarding this issue, I won't try the solution mentioned in this link, coz it required root and I do not want to root my phone

Try to install samsung kies then connect phone with usb debug on. Troubleshoot to reinstall your usb driver. If this dont work uninstall samsung usb driver at device manager abd connect phone and wait for the computer to make update. Restart pc after process. Ty

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 CM10 External SD storage not working

I have flashed my Galaxy Tab 7.7 with the newest CM10, however it could no longer read my 32GB external SD card. The "preparing SD card" message keeps popping up but it couldn't read the content of it. Any solution for that?
Boot into recovery, can your tab read from the SD card there? If yes, the problem is the ROM -> flash another ROM.

[Q] Flash ROM directly to External SD?

I would basically like to use my External SD card as if it were the internal SD card on my Verizon Galaxy s3, is that possible? I am actively doing research on this but am not have much luck as of yet.

[Q] External 2 internal on Samsung Galaxy Rush

Hi,
I am new to the forum and recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Rush running 4.1.2 JB
I got a 32gb sd card to put apps and games on it. After rooting my phone with Odin and CWM, I downloaded external2internal sd and followed the instructions that are posted everywhere.
When I looked in Settings>storage, the memory from my external sd card was gone, but the internal memory did not change.
Is there anything I did wrong?
Thanks

[Completed] [Q] External sd card

Hi,
I just noticed this morning that my external sd card is not working anymore , at first I thought it was my Samsung galaxy tab2 10.1 that have a problem but I later put the external sd card in my LG Mobile Phone and it same thing, it is not recognised but when I insert the external sd card that I use on my LG Mobile Phone into my Samsung galaxy tab, it worked so I guess , the external sd card I use for my Samsung has gone but I have loads of things on it, PLEASE what can I do to retrieve them from the sd card that is not working.
I will be very grateful for your help.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. If the card is bad you may not be able to retrieve anything from it. But you can mount the card as a mass storage device on your PC so I'd try some data recovery tools that are available on the internet.
