Hi All,
Has anyone tried out all the major vendors still around?
I don't want to fork out for all of them...
About to try the package that comes with the CF IR booster called 'ultramote'.
However I believe there's others which are prolly better...
If I upgrade to the latest rom (6.5.x?) will they still work?
I also have something "roughly" like this visualised... (see attached .txt)
I have an old Axim X50v which android is being ported to atm...
But progress is slow & ultimately limited, so I may have to find a better supported device soon.
Any thoughts/ideas/advice greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Jed
Come on... Any thoughts on this anyone?
I'd be really interested in hearing opinions!
Cheers
UR title sucks. What's UR? User remote, or something like that? I don't really understand the first post, and am not in the mood to download the text file. I may not be alone.

Lol, what the hell is this I'm baffled as too what the hell this thread is about
I'm glad I'm not alone, lol.
Being senior members, are one of you able to change the title to:
Best Window Mobile Universal Remote software today?
And now that you better understand what I was laying out...
Any thoughts/opinions?
Thanks
Guys, can anyone help me out here?
All the best,
Jed
Ohh i get it you want a remote for pda. Gotcha ... IR is not included with HTC devices after the titan II.
Um, no...
If you look at my "rough" diagram (attached) ...
I'm hoping to devise a device that acts a central controller for consumer electronics & home automation.
So far the most promising solution I've found is this...
http://www.openremote.org/display/orb/Boss+Overview
You don't have to use their reference hardware but something low power/profile like it would be ideal.
I was thinking of integrating the entire thing into my existing HTPC/PVR but I'm not sure yet, it might be best to have dedicated machine.
To run this software it's critical one has JRE + Apache Tomcat installed/configured properly.
I'd in turn probably run this software on top of Ubuntu or LinuxMCE.
This controller would be able to send/receive via;
Internet, Wifi, Ethernet, IR, X10, some proprietary RF, & numerous other HA/CE related protocols.
A critical part of this system is a hand-held (x50v) that interfaces nicely with the controller.
This hand-held would ideally also have IR integrated, but it's not imperative as Wifi would be used mostly.
However...
In the short term I want to use my hand-held (x50v) as the 'central controller' for various devices using its IR.
Hence the basis for my original post....
I'm interested in other peoples ideas, have you tried something similar?
Have you played with a platform that's better (in your opinion) than openremote?
Or perhaps you know of a better hware/sware combo for the hand-held?
Cheers,
Jed
Well I've done some investigations and Linux/android support is just too limited and prolly will remain that way to bother with Linux on the x50v.
So it'll have to be x50v + WM + app <---> HA controller device <---> end devices
Longer term I'll have to get something like the nokia n900 (maemo based) or at least something with good potential for Linux support.
So it'd be cool to get a few more thoughts on this from people doing similar stuff.
I realise that's probably not a large cross-section of people though, LOL
Jus gunna let this thread rest soon, delete from my readerlist, & move on.
Before that, in depth thoughts from interested parties would be appreciated.

Can someone please post a link for where I can buy a cable that will allow me run run video/audio out from my Epic 4G to my current 08 G35 TV screen via RCA?
When my lease runs out on the G35, the new G37 replaces the RCA video/audio in with USB. Can someone post a like for where I can buy a cable for sending video/audio from my Epic to the USB in of the G37?
Thank you.
Did you try the search button or the wiki? Or did you expect someone else to do that work for you? While we're on the subject, if you have the money to piss away on a G37, you have money to pay someone who knows what they're doing to set it up for you.
HAD you done any reading (rather than expecting us nerds to work for you for free) you'd see video is not happening (at least not yet, and possibly never). Audio is certainly possible, and VERY EASY, but if you can't figure that out you have no business trying to get wired into a car stereo (much less in a LEASED car).

epic. youd think after the 35 comparison thread between the evo shift and the epic this fine op created, this wouldve come up. guess you made the wrong choice tc!
edit. since hes duplicating this thread in the evo shift thread, im going to assume he doesnt own either of these phones or a g35. we'll see i guess when he posts pics.
I searched "RCA" and found nothing.
I own G2 and will be trading it in for a Shift or a Epic after CTIA.
I own a 2008 G35x and will be trading in for 2011 G37x.
FYI: My company ended up making the entire division take Blackberries.
Short answer: no.
Has anyone tried microUSB to TV/Monitor USB port for video and audio?
What happened?
Thanks.
After all day on the phone with Samsung, video and audio out to an external monitor for dual display is not possible with the Samsung Epic.
Shame on you, Samsung.

Check my screen name.
My G is a taxi cab for during the week and for ski trips on the weekend.
My C6 and a 1k bike is for having fun.
I'm not one of the dillusional fast and furious that thinks any Infiniti is a sports car......or anything running slower than 10's is quick.
The only thing fast out of asia is a 1000+cc bike and a HIGHLY modified GTR/Supra, but I digress.
The fact that the Epic won't do AV out for dual display is still pathetic.
ppl, we gotta keep pushing on this. For the same reasons others have to get this working. Especially with netflix now working, to have the tvout option would be the cherry on top. Like many, its not to connect to my house tv but for my car tv!!!!! Big thanks and respect to the all devs out there.
Isimple makes some nice audio in devices. I just put one in my 3g acura TL to get an aux port on my XM button.
I had to go through a ton of crap to get audio on my g35 06 working, had to intall a switch in the dash to enable sat connection since there wasn't a simple jack built in and bluetooth didn't work. Was amazed. So annoying and basic and it didn't have it.

I have an 07 g35x. The best solution to streaming audio from Epic is a BT gateway.... there is no way to display video because EpicĀ“s video out is not enabled.

I see you are a senior member. Are you equally rude to everyone like you were to the member who enquired about the RCAcable?
I've been looking for an answer too, and yes, I have exhausted my search efforts or I wouldn't be here looking for an answer either. If you don't have an answer, do us all a favor and keep your worthless comments to yourself. I'm surprised the moderator tolerates your behavior.

I'm sorry you took it that way. My comment was not personally directed at anyone. I guess I should have said there's no need for anyone to be a ****. Especially when it is unprovoked, as was the case with the other poster. My point was, 2 years or not, rudeness is not acceptable.
I am in Greece and peel is not working with full specs. Can you suggest any other program for using my tablet as a remote with multiple tv's. i have 2 different tv's. (Samsung & LG)
this isn't any help to you, but i am also wondering this. Ha ha don't look at other country's with envy because that app is pretty terrible which is why I wonder if there are any alternatives.
If either of you had searched you would have found plenty of info in this very forum about the IR blaster on the tab2.
Shame on both of you.

shame on you for not bothering to spend a little effort and search for your answer. Asking others to do the simple leg work you could have done. THIS is why you get a snippy reply because in the time it took you to post and also reply back to a user you could have googled and xda searched.
i spent 10seconds and searched "ir remote app"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647605&highlight=ir+remote+app&page=2
there's your answer, now learn from this moment and understand not everyone in the world will go and get things for you, sometimes you have to do things for yourself.
We were all new at one point in time and XDA is huge and sometimes very difficult to navigate. A little guidance can go a long way in terms of respect and gratitude, especially from Senior Members.
guys, why so sensitive... let's be honest, it was an easy find. I'm a newbie too, and the first thing I found when I got my Tab 2, was Touchsquid. The Search feature is REALLY easy to access. And you can even search per-forum right away... now, nevermind the argument, click on that thread they gave you, it has lots of information about Touchsquid. Which is, by the way, a really cool app. A little unpolished in terms of interface and layout, but has a LOT of functions, compatibility, etc.
it's listing as $49 bucks here...seriously...$49 for a andriod app to use a ir sensor on our device.....hey, I'm not knocking them selling it for that, they did the work obviously...but why aren;t more developers doing it, if they can get that for it? People work their butts off making apps for like $1-$3/buy

I tried this with my dell streak 7 tablet, and the seal wasnt heated enough to loosen up, and some of the outside cracked.
needless to say I wont be opening my tab plus regardless.
but thanks for the info.

I wonder if that tool could help us get ICS any more quickly. Are there any unstable members good at making convincing threats?

"unstable." That's an interesting choice of word. I'd say that when I try to dance, I'm pretty unstable. I'm also unstable when trying to balance on a tightwire. Does that count?
Hehe. I left out the mentally-part. I thought that was obvious. Just joking around... trying to imagine ways that tool could be put to use.

Oh! Why didn't you say so? Obviously, most people on these forums are mentally parted! As well, we often part with our mentality.
Am I missing something mental here? Perhaps only part-way?
Well, in any case, I hope you didn't take my comment personally. I certainly didn't mean for it to come across that way. When I saw that image you linked, I giggled and immediately pictured a frustrated XDA member heading to Samsung with ICS-demands on their mind and a hammer in their hand.
Have a nice day, Gary.
Hello all,
I am not really any kind of coder or developer myself. However, I am looking for someone who is -- maybe someone new to the game, to help me with an app I'd like to have on my phone (HTC Thunderbolt).
It's basically a time-card app, pretty simple. There are numerous of these out there, but I'd like to have one specifically geared towards my industry. There are already a couple that exist for the iPhone, but none that I can find for Android. Below are examples of what I'm talking about:
http://www.crewtimecard.com/
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wrap-time-time-card-for-film/id335510869?mt=8
I'd like to make a better one, and one for Android. Really, it would be just for my personal use, but I'm sure many others would be interested as well. Perhaps if someone out there is a developer as a hobby, looking for more practice, etc., this might suit that person. I'd love to talk about collaborating on such a project.
Thanks!
Not to be rude, but I'd be surprised if anyone bites on your offer. Developing and testing apps properly takes a significant amount of time and dedication, and the examples you gave indicate that the app you're looking for could be quite complicated. Unless you come across a developer that happens to need the same thing, or that you are willing to pay, you may be SOL.
Of course, this sounds like the perfect opportunity to learn how to program! There are plenty of great websites out there that will walk you through the entire process form scratch. Good Luck!

Not really.
These 2 site can help you from scratch.

Google has their own site to teach people.

Sounds like you might need to learn several languages to accomplish your goal. Not sure of one particular one to meet your goal.
