Anyone know if there are any developers for the One XL working on a Sense 5 port? If not is there a way to put in a formal request / pledge to donate to those who produce a sense 5 port? Thanks all
There is a Sense 5 theme in the Themes forum. No Sense 5 roms just yet.

I'm still a little unaware of how developer requests work, but is it appropriate to post in the general forum about a ROM request / donation pledges for a Sense 5 port? I'm not sure if that would be popular among the HOXL community but I think it would be. That way, we can have a huge part of whats coming out with the HTC One on our devices :fingers-crossed:
Newroot said he would try,he said we had a good chance at getting it,believe me id liked to see one too,the evo lte has a port and its basicly the same phone as are hox!!!!

I would definitely throw in a few bucks if somebody successfully ported sense 5 to the one x. So long as it was functional that is lol. Hopefully somebody can come up with something, that way it will make me feel less bad about not having the newest from HTC haha

This isn't eBay. Developers may pick up a request or not depending on what they feel like doing. If you want to start a bounty thread, go for it, but people work on this kind of stuff when they want to, not because other people ask them to.

I'm not sure if that was meant to be offensive or not. But if you check my post history I have been very supportive of all the developers here. I just know that a lot of the developers do this in their spare time and is not their primary job obviously. So I could show my support by providing a few extra dollars from my bank account. It is simply a token of my appreciation. But thank you for the clarification

Bounty is a good idea i think, the port its not that easy and the dev can receive a good incentive for that, not a pay, is a grand "thanks".

OK Guys, I am one of those guys who gets everyone's smart phone in my local community and pimps them out.
I have had more MT4G's (not SLIDE - Glacier) brought to me because of the Virtuous ROM. The General Public love the Virtuous ROM. I happen to really like it as well. I have been through every stage and mod of HTC Sense. I love Sense!
Here I am now with a MT4GS. NO Custom ROMs. I am sick of checking this Dev Section for a custom ROM(s) and decided to do something about it.
I have donated $10 to the Virtuous Team and requested that they make a donation section for MT4GS aka DoubleShot.
The team NEEDS a device to make substantial development possible. That is understandable.
I have donated just over 10 USD.
Confirmation number: 49Y66853EW340214C
I will donate another $15 in a two or three days. I hope others will follow.
VIRTUOUS ROM FOR MyTouch 4G/DOUBLESHOT DONATION LINK
10-15$ here.
I'll pledge $10
this is a good idea. i think i'll start a page for cyanogenmod 7
remember guys if your pledge it post those confirmation numbers like he did.

Just Pledge an amount until the 1st Post says differently as virtuousROM needs a to separate regular donations from MT4GS-DoubleShot development.
When I donated, while chatting on IRC this AM, I could not make a comment to identify that the donation was for this development.
I was told to hold off on donations and just get pledges until they could identify the purpose of the donation on PayPal.
EDIT: Link is up ready for donations
(I hope all of you are as excited as I am to get closer to having the Virtuous ROM on our MT4GS's!!!!)

I was going to get CM running on our device, but I've been feeling lazy, particularly because I don't want to run CM. I might do it soon.
DEFINITELY count me in for $20 towards Virtuous - it was by far the best ROM I ever ran on my MT4G! I'd love to see what it could do on the MT4GS! I can't wait for OC!

Sorry I did not have a chance to post link up until now. I was actually with a friend who has the latest Virtuous ROM with BluMagic theme on his MT4G. I swear his phone performs better than my MT4GS!
I hope we get enough donations to get the ball rolling on our MT4GS's!

Porting a Sense ROM is way over MY head! Nice suggestion though.
There's an issue with that ROM. Look at the very bottom part of the OP thread.
Sharing Policy
None.
You are NOT allowed to use this rom as base, to take parts of this rom, or to port this ROM. Ever.
Sure I could port it and counter their sharing policy with the license of HTC but with all due respect to Virtuous team and an avid fan of their virtuous infinity I don't wanna upset them.

Virtuous is so bitter posting anything on XDA anymore; no wonder such a statement. If you really wanted them to allow porting, appealling in that thread will probably do the trick. When against the wall, It'd be hard to find a developer or team of developers to say no to openness.

They can't legally copyright their ROMs since 99% of it is already copyrighted by HTC and Google. There is nothing they can legally do to anybody who takes their ROM and does whatever they want with it. Even their kernels are open source, as required.

There's certainly no doubt about the crappiness factor involved. Of course I look at things differently than they do and would be PROUD to have mine or the team I'm on having just the thanks & credits for a solution to an issue. I kinda thought that was what android was all about. If a person is producing apps for money....now that's a different situation. JMO tho....

It is an "unspoken rule" among Android devs to give credit where credit is due. Hell, there'd be no kanged anything if everyone took the attitude of Virtuous. What if HTC or Google took that attitude, Virtuous would be up the feces creek, no? I think their little pointy heads have gotten too big. There's tons of stuff in all of their ROMs that comes from other people, they depend on a host of devs that came before them to put out anything with their name on it.

I know where you all are coming from. And no it's 100% HTC. There are no items there which came from Virtuous Team. What they only had is the technique to extract the OS from the RRU and they believe that they deserve all rights with that ROM since
"if we didn't release it on public you all wouldn't have any ROM at all"
But meh... All that's left for me to not KANG their ROM is my gratitude because they delivered a sense 4.0 ROM in our device. I must admit I didn't consider getting this device if it weren't for their ROM so yeah as much as I like to bring it here there's another side of me which respects them

I doubt they wrote all the tools they use to extract the ROMs or package or modify. That's what I mean by their dependency on other devs. They've become too arrogant.

There isn't a set of tools to pull a ROM.zip from an RUU. BUT they are the very first to reverse engineer the whole M10 thing HTC turned to in Sense 3+. Still with that being said I don't think ill ever touch another ROM that has anything to do with Team Virtuous because it seems to go against what open source is in my opinion.
Great tool = crappy attitude.

dont you need libs for msm8660?
From my understanding, XDA clamping down on ROM posting requirements drove Virtuous batty. Some defected to the "other" ROM posting site (not allowed to link it here) in bitterness, some joined other development teams, and a rarer bunch is still using the Virtuous name with closed statements such as the one mentioned just to demonstrate bitterness.

I came to realize after I ported my 1st sense ROM that I don't really have to replace that much libs than I thought Actually there's more work on smali coding than replacing libs.
What about this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2071680 maybe these guys are OK?
Any devs out there with a little bit of time on their hands? Yea... I know funny joke, right? I mean seriously... a dev with time on his hands... HAHA
But anyways, I'm really wanting to learn how to port ROMs. I've read through several guides found in the Android General sections... I still have lots of questions and would really like to learn from an established dev from the HOX community
Pretty decent guide here i used it to port a rom to my hp touchpad that i had a while back......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008 wish you luck shouldnt be to difficult if the htc evo lte has a port of sense 5(not alot working) our hox shouldnt be that hard to port sense too!!!

Don't follow the "ZOMG HERES HOW TO PORT A ROM ZOMG" guide and then when it fails give up... there is no all-in one porting guide. It may help to start with that.
Also, if you are going to do AOSP instead of Sense, please don't try and file mod and learn how to do it properly via source. Nothing gets on my nerves more than people filemodding AOSP ROMs.
Thanks rohan32! Appreciate it! I've always been cautious of the step-by-step guides...mostly because them seem too simple and that can't be good! The plan for now is to focus on sense ROMs but if I ever work into AOSP I'll definitely learn how to build from source! I respect the devs here way too much to just file mod your hard work!

I'm not a dev but I used to be an engineer and I'm done some low-level coding years ago. There's really no replacement for starting small and learning by doing, as that thread suggests.
It's no different from other professions. I'm a lawyer/journalist now, and I could show you how to draft a contract, but without the background you're more likely to get in trouble because you don't know enough to know when you're doing it wrong. You've got to take the time to make your own mistakes and learn from them.

1. The Rom I want to port is the note 2 stock rom
2. And the website that I thought would be vital to my success no longer exists. any place that I could go that would be more specific for the project that I am working on specifically .
Not sure of this is the right spot to ask this question. OK so here is the deal. My employer wants us to support Windows Phone 8.x. Well kind of difficult when you don't own one. Instead of them buying one for us, instead we have to rely on a stupid desktop emulator from Microsoft. Since MS has finally laxed the rules on what hardware it can be installed on, I was wondering if a Dev would be interested in making one that dual boots on my Nexus 5.

2 reasons why you won't see a windows ROM, and definitely not on xda....
1. If it were possible, I'm sure it would have be done already.
2. It would be pirated obviously.... Aka warez. A no no on XDA.

You might not agree with me for what ever reason but that is how most think.
Thank you for your reply.
I believe the OP's question was answered pretty well.Good job everyone.

I agree with the point you have made as well. My posts have been ignored many times in the past in the HTC One X forums and when a RC said the same thing, people followed him. Can't blame them though, it's human nature. Nothing can be done about it!
Seriously, this is my last OT post now! Hehe

Not to really to stay Off Topic here... But @rootSU keep up the great work! :good: I personally appreciate your contributions and you still continue to be a staple in the xda community and have done a lot to benefit many of the fellow members and device forums. I've learned quite a bit from many of your stickies and general post and for that I Thank you!!
As you said... "You need to do what's best for you and by all means be yourself".
Edit:
To the topic at hand... I personally don't think that there will be any new development in porting or dual booting WP8 onto android, as WP8 is closed source. I think the best bet if you want android and windows to dual boot on a device it to look into the all mighty HTC HD2. Which lately you can find on swapa, eBay, Craig's list and etc... For an actually pretty darn recent price these days. I've seen a couple going from around $80 - $120 and they are in decent shape. I have actually consider getting another one just to tinker around with again.. It is a cool and fun device.
