Which rom is the most stable? On hype drive right now. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hyperdrive is giving me mms issues among other little things. I need a rom that allows the basics to work some added functionality. Also if I were to install a new rom.do I need to unlock the bootloader again?

I use PAC MAN ROM no issues so far.

It's best to try different ROMs as people have different experiences. Many people love Jelly 'Beans', but for me it's very unstable. Carbon and Slim Beans are very good. I love Hyperdrive and I'm sure that with the next release, the MMS bug will be gone.

CleanRom is the most stable rom since it's very close to stock rom but with performance boost and bunch of excellent mods. No doubt this is what you looking for.

Go touch wiz, clean rom or beans should be very stable.

Once tour bootloader is unlocked it stays unlocked flashing between roms. It only gets locked again if you return to factory stock.
So no, you don't need to unlock bootloader if you simply change roms. It's always best wipe data though.

CleanRom for sure.

I would say beans for great stableness and great battery life and for aosp gotta go with carbon by far these are the best ROMs for my phone . but many phones are different and have their own taste Lol

Boot Animations?

Well after being on ios for 2 years its safe to say im new to the rooting scene on android. Regardless i am rooted and am running the latest synergy rom on my vzw gs3. I understand boot animations dont usually work on my device. How could i go about getting them to work. The developer told me it is possible to get them working. Thanks in advance!

On stock, it's not exactly a breeze. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1829363

Synergy is based on stock and as such is subject to the same restricitions in this case. See the thread I linked.
Oh ok. I'll give you a thanks when i get on my desktop. Idk how to on this app. Also just for future reference are there any roms with non stock kernals? Sorry if my terminology is wrong.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
This phone hasn't had what you might call a normal development cycle. New kernels are just starting to come around since the bootloader just got unlocked. I know of one stock based kernel right now. See here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31329-kerneltouchwiz-leankernel-minimalistic-kernel-819-v022/
YOU WILL NEED TO UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER FIRST. There's an app in the market for that.

Synergy vs Beans Custom Stock Rom

Battery life will never be something someone can tell you is "good" as it all varies by individual, phone, kernel, running processes, apps, etc.
I don't really know now to answer your question. It's all opinion which is "better".
That's what nandroids are for. Flash both and see which one works for you.

I just have to wipe everything and create backup in rom manager after I select the flash rom from sd? Do I need to wipe data /factory reset also or is it not necessary? Then if I flash bean stock and don't like it I just restore my backup made in rom manager, correct? I haven't switched between different rooms yet I'm a noob.

I have tried ever ROM out there except CleanROM which I haven't gotten to yet (I was out of the country for the last week & didn't want to take a chance on breaking my phone)
I keep returning every single time to my current totally debloated root66 ROM setup. With that setup, there are no bugs or issues at all, the battery life is just as good as any other ROM & it's fast as hell.

No.
Backup FIRST, then you can wipe and install a new ROM. Then back that ROM up, wipe, install new ROM, repeat.
There are stickies around here that will help.

They both good roms but "Clean rom" and "Clean kernel" are the most stable with excellent performance/battery and the most bug free rom (very close to stock and very clean). Also Clean kernel comes with OC and UV.

On synergy I had a lot of FC errors and my wifi would randomly drop. I haven't read anything of others having that issue on the forums but each new release I would flash that. I guess I was just more used to Beans, although I loved the amount of customization and theme options of synergy. Also the fast charge option that came with the kernel built into build 9 of beans was a big plus.
I'll promote synergy
Started off with earlier versions of bean
Loved the 50gb Dropbox but have found synergy to be phenomenal
Plus they've added a feature where they back up your imei when flashing the rom, jury's still out on whether it's 100 percent effective in restoring imei without the roaming problem

No idea.
It's probably an issue with your Google account. I would try erasing it completely and re-adding it. You could also try flashing a custom playstore or installing a different one to see if you can fix the problem.
It isn't rom related.

yeah bro. foxfi wireless tether works.
there is a free version and a paid version though.
there are 2 annoying things.
1 it's not free
2 it forces you to "lock" your phone with a password/pattern/or pin number.
So are any AOSP roms supported with safestrap? I'm looking at the download list and it's just modified TW roms.
My brother took the OTA, but is now interested in switching to AOSP and I wanted to make sure it was even possible.

[Q] Custom ROM Droid Maxx Developer Edition

I'm somewhat a noob to custom ROMs, and looking for a bit of information before I decide to flash a new one. I have a Verizon Droid MAXX Developer Edition (XT1080) with the current KitKat 4.4 installed. I'm looking to try the nightly CM11 out. I have already unlocked the bootloader, its not rooted just yet though.
In another forum thread located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2654816
A user posted a link to http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=moto_msm8960dt (3 downloads, I'm not sure which one to choose for my device)
I'm wanting to know if this build would work on my phone before I flash and possibly mess something up, and also does Verizon work okay on this build. Is there anything else I should know before flashing a ROM (I'm somewhat tech savvy, so the process seems pretty straight forward, but any advice is appreciated)
I would have posted the question in that thread but I didn't want to break any rules, which says to Q/A here.

Obviously you need to have a custom recovery installed and get root. All three of those builds are for our phone. They are "nightlies" that get updated, well, nightly. I ran the 2/19 build for a little while and it worked pretty well. GPS was the only thing that didn't work and I think there is a work around for that. Active notifications and touchless controls are not part of cm.

I'm not worried about GPS or the Motorola controls.
Do you recommend a good recovery to flash? Also I've seen people posting problems when rooting this phone with 4.4 installed.
Any reason why you reverted back? Didn't like it?

I use TWRP. No problems rooting the Dev edition on 4.4 the problems are all with the consumer edition. I've never been a big CM fan plus I like having a working GPS, and I just didn't feel like going through the steps to get it working
CM seems to be good for my first custom ROM, but for future references do you recommend another ROM? I've seen that PACMAN ROM posted a bunch, but it looks pretty buggy.

So with xposed you can customize a current ROM without having to flash to cyanogenmod? I like the stock ROM but I'd like to be able to change certain designs (example: change the way my notification bar looks. Maybe battery icons and change menus within settings. Etc ) Just trying to really see the benefit of flashing another ROM if what I'm wanting to do can be done through a 3rd party program.

When I first installed CM11 it looked almost exactly like my stock set up using the Google launcher and xposed. The only advantage CM provides that I can see is the ability to tweak the kernel settings, if you are into that sort of thing.

I appreciate all the help so far. I think I will try xposed out and see what I can tweak as far as display settings.
I'm assuming no custom recovery is required for this, only rooting. I like some aspects of cyanogenmod but for this also being my work phone, I don't want to risk messing up my network settings etc.
When you root, can you still update your stock OS? Or do you need to unroot before each update?

I used to run inverted on my S3 all the time because of the battery saving it provided for the amoled display. Since this is a super lcd display, that's a none issue, and I'm trying to run everything white just because I can.
I'm still running stock because it's so quick. On my S3, stock touchwiz was so slow and buggy I had no choice but to install a new rom.
However, there are many more roms available in the international m8 forum correct? Is there a way to tell if they'll work with our phone? Or do they have to say it's specifically compatible with the Verizon variant? The last thing I want to do is flash something and have it missing the CDMA band needed to get data. Also would super CID basically allow flashing of any rom we wanted.

They'll say if they work for Verizon or not. SuperCID would allow you to flash any carrier Rom, but I doubt you would get data or anything, maybe 1x...that's more for like if you want to take your phone to t-mobile then you would be able to flash a tmobile Rom and be good to go (whether you get LTE or not on tmobile is a diff story).

Yup, stock rooted. Love it. I don't usually flash too often anyway. Just want something as stable and bug free as possible. So I'm thinking I'll probably end up running bonestock or cleanrom. I'm also extremely intrigued by the gpe rom.
I'll start flashing soon, but I generally don't like flashing too often.

(Which I really hope you say yes as if so you can help out a lot of people by doing me a favor)?.....or have you updated to the new firmware 1.55.....myself I hate pretty much all google apps besides chrome an I don't really care for that just my backup browser so the gpe ROM is very well put together by @digitalhigh . I have flashed it just to see how it ran but google everything an no blinkfeed is a total bust for me..

Plus I ran bonestock for a while at 1st. I have tried all Roms an that is the best stock ROM he has lots of things enabled VZW hides. Only thing he is missing is eps mode but that is so easy to add via XML ...all you need to do its add another line for a quick setting tile like the rest of them an use value 30. Reboot an then your bone stock will have everything you need plus on the house teathering.

Nope, I don't have the original firmware.
I think my sister also updated hers.
Andy has done fantastic work on his roms since his S3 days. He does a great job adding in hidden features and keeping the rom as stock as possible. Really hope he continues developing for this device.

No a lot of people r asking in my firmware/radios thread I started are asking for old radios cause they were stronger for them. With a pull from a phone that still has this we can make a flashable old radios. An some else wants the old firmware to create another safety net for everyone.
