ITunes to android - General Topics

I've been doing some searching and haven't really found a good app and I'm trying to see if anyone has any advice. I have a decent amount of music in iTunes that i want to transfer to android so I dont lose it or have it just sit there. You guys know of any good programs for that, that aren't going to lose any of the bit rates between the transfer or won't give me many problems during the transfer?

You can't just export your songs from itunes? Oh my, it must be some crazy totalitarian facist regime running the fruit phones. Try this:
First you will have to burn your music to cd as drm-free files then rip them off of the cds but change i tunes ripping settings (edit> preferences> advanced tab> importing tab> import using: mp3 encoder.
This is the only way I know of. I even read around and this was all I could find. You might be best to only copy your hard to find stuff then download the rest through torrents.
Please hit Thanks if I have helped. I'm trying to get rid of my junior member stigma.

Do you own an ipod? If so, put the music on there, then open up explorer and browse to the ipod, the music is in folders there, though the ID3 tags and filenames are a mess. (random letters and numbers). There are also prpgrams to get the music off an ipod with the correct names, you'll have to google those as I can't remember the names.

I've had success in the past burning my music to cds and then using windows media player to rip it back to my computer.

Just export the music and download it one android:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Hmmm, i just come from an iphone 4 to a galaxy note 2 and all i did was highlight all the songs in my itunes library and press copy then i added a folder on my desktop and pasted it into the folder. That goes for any music videos i brought from itunes as well.then all u do is put the folder on ur desktop onto ur sd card then put in ur android phone.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

All you do is go to your playlist press control a copy in a folder and transfer the folder to the music part of your phone it worked great for me. All these other answers are complicated haha

Sorry for the late response, been way too busy the past couple of days. Thanks for all the input ive looked into all of those programs but not once did i think to just copy everything in my iTunes folder to my phone SD card. The only problem is that my library consists of about 60GB so i think i might trim it down while i transfer as well! Thanks for the help.....

Sorry, not trying to advocate piracy, I was unaware of the rule. Did you know that by copying your music from itunes to another device you are pirating that music even though you have paid for it. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me, but Apple's gots to have control I guess.

There was nothing wrong with the reply you quoted at all.
On the other hand, sticking a post like yours to resurrect a thread that died five months ago is totally pointless :banghead:

Thank you! Now there is an efficient post: a direct reference that will save time (and helps me a lot). Too many posts without references lead to unnecessarily long threads that take far more time to parse for a solution than they should!
I'm not resurrecting a post, because I am looking at this problem now.
My friends, posting should be like publishing research: elegant, efficient, and fully referenced!

Roms for emulators

Is it possible for me to get roms on a non rooted captivate?

Yes, it is. Use it as a mass storage device.
Next time, post in the Q & A section.
Sorry bout that. Can you tell me step by step how to do it. Do I get the roms from the droid store(i see they have a few) or can I go online and download them. Sorry I'm fairly new to the droid OS came from IOS

Any way you could provide what you did when you figured it out?
It's a pet peeve of mind when threads go dead with no explanation to the solution.

Im sure you all own the original cartridge version of the roms that you are downloading
Roms can be found in lots of places. Websites usually don't carry the main titles because their respective copyright holders requested that they be yanked, 4shared, torrents, and other similar methods are great ways to get a digital copy of games you already own. Alot of games come zipped. The SNES emulator I use requires that it be unzipped resulting in a .smc file extension, otherwise the aforementioned error about content not being supported will come up.

Well the guy in this post told me to put it in mass storage mode so that's what I did. I already have plenty of roms for snes from playing emulators on my iphone. I connected my phone to my computer. Went to my computer and then went to my phone after I connected it and just dragged and dropped my roms into my SD folder.
I don't think it really matters what folder you put them in.
Unplugged my phone loaded my emulater searched for my roms with the emulator and started playing

Can only Rent movies on Android Market?

So I am a recent iPhone converter and I am used to being able to buy movies on iTunes. Can I only rent on the Android Market? I have searched and found no answers. I downloaded "Video" app but it tells me i am rooted and can't use it. I just want to buy a movie so I can watch it as much as I want.
For the moment it's rent only. I'm sure that will change soon.
You could always put films on your SD card and watch it on your device like that.
Yea, i really want to just purchase some since i travel so much. I guess i will just have to purchase some digital copies or something. That's so stupid though.

I agree. They are losing money hoof and mouth, IMO.
There is about 10 movies I would buy right off of the bat if they had them available. Unfortunately some of the digital copies I have are that stupid ultraviolet crap were you have to stream it. Does me no good on an airplane.

[APP] SugarSync, the best Dropbox alternative. 5GB free storage

Hey guys, I recently just decided to join the Dropbox/ Cloud storage initiative. I found the best possible Cloud storage service called SugarSync.
The best thing about it, is that unlike Dropbox, You can sync any folder on your pc, as well as having a Universal folder that syncs with every device like Dropbox.
The second best thing is that you get 5GB of storage instead of 2GB, and upto 32GB through referrals, unlike 16GB in Dropbox.
The last thing I love is that with SugarSync you can Sync entire folders with your phone unlike Dropbox, where you can only sync a file at a time.
Anyway instead of me talking about it have a try for yourself. Just click on this link SugarSync, to get 5.5GB storage instead of the 5GB that comes with it, or click the link in my Signature.
Hope you like it as much as I do.
Nice referral link
This being said, SugarSync is definitely a great service. It's very reliable and a feature I particularly like is that if you get a paid account, you can share that account's space with other accounts, unlike DropBox which would rather push their business option.
Well with the referral link you get the extra 500MB of storage, which you wont otherwise.
I myself searched for someone that has a referral link before I signed up, so I can get the extra storage
I just like how Sugarsync syncs entire contents of folders with your mobile device, the separate folders sync is secondary, but still great as helps you be organised instead of making Dropbox you root directory for music, documents, etc, this way your pc remains as it is, and you simply sync it online. I have a netbook which I use for uni, and for me the fact that i can sync my assignments across both computers is essential
I would agree to op for the thread. I love both the services for the fact that both are just great.
Ps: looks like thread is posted in the wrong section :/

I posted here as SugarSync is also an Android Application, that Syncs your photos, videos, and data to the cloud. It even has automatic photo and video upload as soon as you take a pic, record video, if you choose to enable it of course.
Also has anyone read about the latest dropbox.security leak. http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/01/dropbox-confirms-security-breach-new-measures/

Ye I got 40 people saying they registered, but only 5 out of them said they completed and I got the extra space. Maybe those people didnt install the software?
Can the next person who signs using my link and installs the software and registers let us know on here, to c if it works
Ye so far I got some people I invited working as extra bonus, so maybe others just havent installed SugarSync on their pcs. The only thing left to improve by them is Linux support
https://www.sugarsync.com/sync_comparison.html
I created a faux email to test it out. Logged on my phone downloaded the app uploaded a photo with it and everything and still getting pending activation.

Ye its not with the phone, you have to download the pc version apparently, but I just signed up my friend in front of me using my link and installed windows version, etc, and I have not gotten the extra space. So I have emailed support regarding this, so hopefully they will sort it out soon. Im sure its just some sort of error, and at the end of the day, Sugarsync is still a winner in my books.
Yeah I also sent them an email. Lets hope this gets figured out:/

Ye one of my friends just appeared as extra space, and he activated the account about 10 hours ago, so maybe it takes time. But I got about 50 registered referrals, and only 14 activated, so I don't know, It cant be so many people deciding not to install the software or have linux

uTorrent for Android Phones!

uTorrent now has a full BitTorrent client for Android, so you can download torrents right to your phone no matter where you are.
Download from Google Play [Beta] : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.utorrent.client
Android 2.1 and above.
Should we consider Torrent as a download option now

I've been using tTorrent Pro. At the time I bought it, it was the best I could find. It works but could be better. I have not been able to find a good NZB client for Android either. I bought PowerNZB, it works, the 2 or three other ones I downloaded did not work. Most are for feeding your NZB client on your home server, I have a script and dropbox folder for doing that. If I do download media on my phone, I use PowerNzb more often then torrents.

Well, uTorrent is just a sharing application. If you want, you can download similar application with any other downloader tool. The application itself is not corrupted. It's the people who use this in wrong way.
** uTorrent is sometimes better for downloading. :good:
I also tried the µTorrent and BitTorrent apps some weeks ago. But I have to say, that they are sometimes unstable.
The design is not the best, but reason for that could also be the big screen of the note ^.^
My favourite torrent client is "Swarm". It's stable, simple design, light-weight and works fine with all extras we know from the desktop client.
Better try this.
Hey so I torrented an item, and than went to locate it on my gs3 and now I can't find it. I've went through rooted processes to find the app and see if it downloaded within the folder there but not to be found.
I haven't deleted it...it still shows its on my phone.
Can anyone reccomend any solutions? I haven't changed any settings on my utorrent app on my phone.
Try to download another item and it will notify you before it starts to confirm the folder to store in . . Then you will know where the first item is stored . Hope it helps.

Tested, not bad but it would be perfect if I could connect to my uTorrent windows client using the app going through my wireless network. I know there are remote feature but they are in the cloud or using a web browser (to connect directly to the torrent client)

Here is an option...
Samsung ativ win 8 tablet comes with snote. I have often sent my snote files from 8013 to my friend can open them on windows 8.
We just need to get an installer out of it that will work on other win 8 laptops.. and hopefullt win7.

I copied the .snb file to my PC, extracted it with 7 Zip, navigated to the snote folder, and opened the snote.xml in Word. It gives me all the text and is very readable. It didn't, however, give me the photos and videos I had embedded in the file, but I imagine (not being a computer geek) that those instructions are contained in the other .xml files, as I have a folder in the archive that also contains those elements.
Yes, it would be great if Samsung could port the S-Note to Windows.

I have a new Samsung Ativ T700. It uses an Intel Core i5. In the metro environment there is an SNotes app that is the same as on our tablets. Well, actually, the tablet is better, but you can copy your notes over and then import them into the Win8 version. Works fine.
I'm lost on what your referring to I guess because I don't have a ATIV, but can you clarify what is a metro environment?
Google "Metro UI"
I don't understand how people today STILL don't realize 90% of all questions in the universe have already been answered on Google.

Nothing to do with being a ****. I'm teaching you and others like you the solution to the rest of your life.

Try working in retail tech one day, you'll see how many times the same simple question that can be answered by the FIRST link on Google gets asked.
IE: how to MUTE the VOLUME * face palm*
If everyone were like you, every forum would be FILLED with IDENTICAL question threads, and eventually NO ONE knowledgeable will bother answering after repeating the same answer 10 times.
Just Try it, help yourself get some perspective.

I knew what you were talking about (vaguely), but for kicks, I Googled metro, and didn't find anything, results improved after using metro environment, but barely. It might seem obvious to you, but not to someone who isn't sure as to what they are looking for.
Using your analogy, there is a difference between teaching a man how to fish, as opposed to telling him to throw a hook into the water.

Now, upon seeing this, he/she would have had enough terms ["windows 8 metro"] for retrieving a relevant Google search result.
clearly, In this case, simply READING would have been faster than posting a message and waiting for someone to post an answer.
But that's your choice. Kind of like double clicking on internet links, sure it'll work, but it's a waste of everyone's time and effort.
