Just got a message saying this update is available. My handset is s-off running sipercid I gather its not a good idea to run this ota update?
You are correct.

Thanks for that. Would the handset brick if I installed the update as my bootloader is locked.
Yes because your super CID... as soon as I s-offed my device I changed it back to htc_001 (my default CID) I'd advise that

Has anyone with a one s c2 on HTC__001 got the jelly bean update? Or any other Uk c2 unbranded cids.

No. I've got a VilleC2 HTC__001. I am currently using luxandroid_v3, works fine for jelly bean but definatly isn't as smooth as trickdroid 5. I lost trickdroid 5 after updating to 6 (which didn't work) then 5 refused to work. Though if you don't want to unlock bootloader your are going to need to wait, either for OTA or for S-OFF.
Thanks mate didn't think it had am on td6yself but want its when it's out so I can update hboot and radio etc guess I'll just have to wait a bit.

YES
158 error usually means that it cannot find the image or you have the wrong or a bad ruu. Try downloading the correct RUU and running the exe again. Just to be sure, your phone is stock and has never been tampered or had cid changed?

I get the same error and my phone says tampered on the fastboot screen. I rooted it and now I can't get the RUU to work. Not sure if my CID has been changed. Any ideas? Please.
Isn't the software update supposed to be 3.18?

Pretty sure that's the release date not the version.
Nevertheless, that error means the OP has the wrong RUU.
You rooted it?

Please read before doing anything else with the RUU:

SuperCID + S-on + RUU = brick
If you are SuperCID (which you should be, if you are rooted) then the RUU not running is a good thing. It would have bricked you, if it ran.

I tried to root an HTC one x. But is says tampered and unlocked. But I can't do anything else. What can I do to root it? It runs android 4.0.3 with 2.20 and hboot 1.14

Hello all, my father in law has a One X and it's currently running:
Android 4.1.1
CleanROM 6.5.0
HTC SDK API Level 4.63
Baseband: 0.19as.32.09.11_2_10.105.32.25L
Build: 3.18.502.6 CL1311981
I tried to run the latest RUU from HTC's website but it fails with an unknown error. What would be the easiest way to restore this phone to factory?
Is it rooted? Dual core lte or quad tegra chip?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
It is rooted. It's the AT&T model. I believe that's the dual core LTE model. We don't care about keeping the bootloader unlocked, or even rooted. I just want it back to factory.
Does it have S-off?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
S-On. I can access the bootloader.
I just thought of this...I probably have to relock the bootloader before I run the RUU. Am I right?
If you ruu using 3.18 you will brick. It is smarter to S-off first and then run an ruu
