[Q] Using Samsung Galaxy S3 as a tablet only? - General Questions and Answers

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII and I am now on AT&T. I was going to sell the phone, but just thought I would use it as a tablet. Should it work well as a tablet only just running on wi-fi? It's perfect tablet size imo...

Either use it as a tablet or sell it and get the tab 2 or something cheaper but still good, i say its not bad to use as a tablet but I think at least a 7inch will be alot better but my s3 is a lot faster than my tab2 but its all up to you

Thanks for the info, so far I haven't found anything that doesn't work while using it as a tablet only.

I've also been holding off from buying a tablet for a while. Was trying to grab a bargain touchpad but somehow i missed them all. Sold out and I'm not paying ridiculous over priced charges some people charging now on the bulk loads they bought.
Anyway, I'm thinking of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 from all that I've seen. Perfect size and specs are mind blowing. 7.7 inches of Super AMOLED! Can't go wrong there.

7.7 maybe too small... someone suggested transformer 2, good spec. But I prefer tab 3. Tab has better screen and camera than asus.

Any Note 5.3 users that purchased 10.1?

Are you getting much additional usage? Do you take both with you when you leave the house?

I am using both, did not think that I would use this tablet much as I have experienced the features on the phone, how wrong was I ?
I have not been able to put it down, the pen has been enhanced so much that it truly has become a productivity tool along with the new multitasking features and fantastic stability in any task we put to it.
yeah me too love the combination
Probably tomorrow
Sent from my Asus Transformer Pad TF300T but I have a Samsung Galaxy Note too.

I am using the 10.1 with BT as a phone, the 5.3 is getting some rest
I am not a very heavy phone caller so that seems to work for me
Except the week end as I need to be light and pop the sim back into the 5.3
I use both, seems redundant but I haven't owned the 10.1 for long enough to make a decision.

I've been using the international note since the European launch last November, and I'm now thinking I'll go back to a "normal" phone when I replace the original Note. Maybe a Galaxy S3 or the next Nexus...
It does seem like overkill to have both, and the Note 10.1 is just spectacular!
Of course I may change my mind when I see the specs of the Note 2...

I concur with HasC... love this note 10.1, only wish I'd bought the 3g version instead of wifi (I ordered a 3g yesterday to replace my wifi version).
I'll carry the miniNote aroumd 24/7 and use it when megaNote use would be inconvenient or too conspicuous... but suspect I'll have and use megaNote with higher frequency than miniNote except for phone use.
In short, I think both have great utility and see keepung and using both.
I've got both as well. I still like to have the 5.3 for little notes for when I don't have access to my 10.1, plus its 100% reliable for me. I've been Bluetooth tethering to my 10.1 all day with no issues, the camera is top notch, no issues with the software, battery life is excellent, especially since its getting less use now. I thought about selling it for a Nexus, but I couldn't live without the great camera. I may go for an S3 if I can find a decent price on eBay, but otherwise I'll be satisfied with this for a while.

Its a perfect combo....

10.1 now for everyday use
5.3 as backup and navi .........
Both these puppies rock and are in a league of their own! I use both and could never be happier...These devices are unique and I can't see myself changing to anything else. Can't wait for the note 2.
I am using them both, a happy user
Using both devices and loving them!

I m waiting for 10.1 on Wednesday so i dont have an opinion to post but as far as i thonk about it it is only an advandage to have a note family.
Thinking of taking it to ubuntu side so having dual boot tablet and an android phablet will be great.....
) ) ) over the air on Galaxy Note ( ( (
Use both in business daily.
I bought the 10.1 because of the 5.3.
Have them synced thru dropbox.
It's a powerful combination.
I have both Notes.
The 10.1 is not in any way a replacement for the 5.3 - It's a tablet, it can't fit in your pocket. The original Note can.
The N7000 is my phone, the N8013 is my tablet (well one of two... I also have a Nexus 7... Each device has its place. The N8013 probably won't get too much use beyond hacking until a combo Bluetooth keyboard/folio comes out for it.)
I've been using both. smaller Note 5.3 when I am walking around and the bigger note when i am stationary or really want to check out a web page or working in forums.

I bought my used Sprint Galaxy Tab 7 (white) for $200 in MINT condition. Asking price was $280. Doesn't hurt to say I have cash on me and can meet you in 30 minutes inside a Starbucks.
Ok thanks for the help so is 250 high? Will there be another tab coming soon? One more question. What do you guys think of this tablet? Is it smooth enough? Is cm10 or aokp the best room? I dont really care about touchwiz

No its a low price. The tablet is awesome. The 'best' ROM can only be determined by you.

I'll bump this a little bit. I just ordered Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for 200 euros (they are normally like 350-400 euros here in Finland), and now I'm facing a dilemma.
I already own Xperia Tablet S, and ordered the Tab for my parents. But what do you think, should I keep the Tab for myself and give the Xperia Tablet S to my parents? Both are excellent devices, but Tab 2 is only a dual core. But there are 100x more custom roms for Tab 2 than Tablet S. There's pretty much zero roms for Sony.
CyanogenMod and other thingys gets me interested on Tab 2, but the "low specs" on Tab 2 gets me leaning towards Sony.
What would you do?
Apple's and oranges...but
I have a kindle fire hd 7" with no roms but fair specs....
And a tab 2 7" with cm10.1 with mediocre specs...
I use the tab 2 almost exclusively...

why not buy NEXUS 7? it's awesome.
Maybe because it costs more, and is smaller. 3 inches is quite a lot.
EDIT: In MY case (where I got the Tab 2 for 200€) it's cheaper.
Sorry to hijack this thread.. I am looking to buy this tablet(wifi 10.1). Actually i was confused between this and nexus 7. But the display size won over nexus 7. And am new to tablets as well. Will this tab survive another 5 years of time ? Does this tab support usb host and hdmi or mhl? How's the battery backup time(wifi on 24x7)?

just bought mine today for $180 at walmart but it's going back tomorrow. the thing lags way too much for me. guess ill either buy a nexus 7 or wait.
Got the nexus 7 today and its like night and day. The only minuses are no expandable storage or rear camera. I liked the design of the tab 2 but the lag killed it for me. Maybe ill try out the galaxy tab 8 when it hits.

How big is too big? For a screen that is?

I'm currently at 4' for my phones, 7' for my tablet. I need something in between...I'm thinking the Note II is my only option.
I'm happy with the near 5" S3 and a 10" tablet. The 7" was just to similar to the phone without much advantage (and the 10" size was better at viewing the web and such).
Some people like a 3-4" phone and smaller tablet.
Go to some stores and see the phones on display?

Though I don't own one, I have a friend that owns a Galaxy Note II and he has let me mess around with it, you would think it is too big but rly it is not. It has a good feel to it and I had no problem fitting it into most pockets. Definitely size was not an issue for me. If I had the money I would upgrade to one myself.

[Q] Have Note 10.1 Company buying another what you suggest?

If i had the choice I would get either the note 10.1 or 8 with 3g, I am bias and cant see any other make worth getting,
If you are not in a rush wait and see what new version appears in the next few months.
