Hi. Prob is it shows my simcard is empty whereby its not. Truly not supported in job anymore?

I think its kinda silly with such feature. I mean how if I'm in a location without data connection? That would mean I won't be able to access the contacts at all.

Here's the solution

you dont need data connection constantly to access contacts...first time you sign into google accounts on your phone it syncs all your google contacts...
also it is advisable to store your contacts as google contacts instead of phone or sim contacts....especially if you change your ROM a lot
Hi
I get the same problem with jellybam 7.8 (based on CM10.1 RC2)
My SIM card is detected (I can connect to the data network of my provider), but when I try to import the contacts of my SIM, I get "no contact found"
When I ask the version of my SIM, I can see there are 112 free slots on 250.
the application SIM contacts is unable to find a contact
I found this a big incredible issue. How can this feature not working ? It's common task changing a phone and importing contacts from the sim. Expecially who like me keep that goggle sync task always deactivated.

Any news in how to import contacts from SIM?
Can't even find a app that helps, it sais that the SIM is empty but it's not, works perfect in other phones.
Again afaik the Google os had dropped support for SIM card contacts all together! Best bet is to downgrade back to ics and copy your sim contacts to your phone and back up to sd card.

Hi Guys,
Appreciate if you can help me with my problem. My phone is not receiving some SMS/TXT Msgs from my other contacts. My phone is able to send SMS properly but there are times that I don't received any SMS from my other contacts. Have you guys encountered the same problem as well? If so, did you manage to fix it? I'm using a HTC Sensation XE which is not rooted and no custom ROM is installed.
Thank you and apologies if this issue was already answered (I wasn't able to find a thread for HTC Sensation with my specific problem).
Have u tried restarting the phone? Have tried clearing the messaging cache in applications>manage apps? How long has this been going on? Nice phone by the way sir.

Thanks for the reply! Yup, I've already restarted the phone a couple of times and cleared the cache as well. Hmm. I think this has been going for a month or so.
You have a nice phone as well sir.
Have u tried doing a fctory reset? Are u using the stock message app not handscent or chompsms? Also you can go to your carrier and tell them u think the sim is bad. Ive had a few messed up sim cards that would do the same thing. Everytime i got a new sim the problem went away

I haven't tried doing factory reset. I'm saving it for my last option. I'm just using the stock messaging app of HTC. At first I was using Go SMS and I uninstalled it thinking that it was the cause of the issue. I've also reported this to my carrier twice.
Thanks again for the reply sir! It's very much appreciated.
Which carrier do you have? Call them and tell them u need a new simcard. Thats the problem man im 99.9% sure.

Thanks again for your inputs. It's much appreciated. I'll go to our local carrier and request for a new Sim Card. Hopefully it will resolve my problem. Thanks!
so did the new simcard work out for you?
Apologies for my delayed reply dude. I wasn't able to check XDA again til recently.
The problem was with my friend's network provider. Hehe.
Thank you again for the help and sorry for the very very delayed reply.
I also switched to Galaxy Nexus. Hehe.

As far I can tell when the contact has more than one number, the messaging app will show the number and will have the phone number type next to it
for example "(mobile)" or "(work)"

I've found out mine auto-magikally imported my Sim contacts but wouldn't auto link them with the right google contacts (using the same sim since 2007).
You'll need to go into the People app and hide everything but the contacts stored on the phone - then either link or delete them. I chose to delete them. If you delete them, download a SIM management tool from the Play store and delete them from the SIM as well (seemed to restore the contacts from the sim when I OTA'd to 1.29.7 but after redeleting them from the sim they didn't reappear with the 1.29.11 update).

It doesn't show the name, number, number type, and contact picture at the top?
Try changing number format from (###) ###-#### or any other format to simply ##########. Seemed to work for me. You will have to do this for each contact.

always or randomly? mine decides randomly it either wants to or doesn't want to display as contact name or number through the stock app handcent or gosms... I can deal with this a lot more than the signal going in and out...

mine has started doing it randomly as you describe, very annoying.
edit - i think i've found the problem, its because the messages are coming in as from "+447XXXXXX" and in my phone book i dont have the +44, just 07XXXXX, after changing them to +44 in front, its all ok.
now just to go through my contacts and change them all.... sigh.
so i just flashed in cm9.1 then ultragen1.1 and its beautiful, but for some reason i can import my contacts from the sim card, now did i do something wrong or is this just a known issue? i didnt see it in the bug logs for either rom some im assuming i screwed something up

i had thought that they were but for some reason they werent, it synced a bunch of way older contacts off google, most of which are useless or obsolete, but i know all the contacts are backed up to my tmobile account and on the sim card, neaither of which seem to be syncing in this case, though i can understang the tmobile part not syncing since the app isnt there anymore lol, i just dont understand why i cant import my contacts from the sim. when i go to an old backup phone it says theyre on there, but on the sgs4g with ultragen its telling me there arent any on the sim
im just gonna transfer my contacts the old fasion way, lol but im gona keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone can tell me what the probelm is if for nothing else but to make sure it can be fixed or not

I had the exact same problem the first time I flashed CM9. My contacts weren't synced to Google. I looked into the problem when it happened to me. I went back to stock and synced them and re-flashed. Problem solved.

Well since the phone doesnt need a sim to work i just put the sim in an old phone i had and just transfered the contacts by eye, i just wasnt sure if this was a know bug or not
Hello, I have over 150+ contacts on a trac phone, the sgh-t105g, and I need to transfer the contacts to my new Nexus 4 but I have no idea as to how, any help would be much appreciated as I don't wish to spend my next hours plugging in names and numbers for each and every single contact! :crying:
In Trac phone simcard has to inserted?
If so its easy..
Or else if trac phone has internet push ur contacts to gmail or facebook then on nexus pull it..
Good luck..
The SIM card is not a micro sim so I'd have to cut it and eliminate it afterwards but I'd like to keep the phone still working for emergencies and the tracphone does not have internet.. Lol
You can backup your contacts using an app like SMS backup, and then restore them on your other phone using that same app
But how can I get that app on the track phone if the tracphone doesn't support internet connectivity. Its just calls/texts. That's my problem here :/
Does ur trac phone can send vcard ?If so send all the contacts Sanjay vcard to nexus...
Try this ....
What is vcard? & how can I tell if I can send it?
You can send contacts via Bluetooth or send a vcard. if necessary, you can send to have any application, and then by the same application to restore them
Hi
Try to download it to your computer from androiddrawer.com and then send it to your phone for install.
Hope i help
Contact backup apps are recommended or android has it own conatct import/export feature

I know the topic is dead, just wanted to ask you this. All the simcards can store a small
Group of contacts say 25 contacts. And there should be one option in Trac phone
to copy contacts from phone to simcard. U can later put the sim in any device and copy contacts
There. Did you try doing anything similar to this ?
I did not try that as stated with my original purpose. The track phone uses a normal sim meanwhile the Nexus 4 a micro sim. I would then have to cut the normal sim into a micro one and hope I don't mess up the sim tray in the nexus (I've read many articles that it has) & then I would have to use some sort of tool to allow my now cut down micro sim to fit back into a normal sim to fit back inside my trac phone to keep it as a emergency phone... Which at this point it's all more of a risk than something worth the effort to try, but yea.. Lol.

Try taking it to a sprint store they have a contact transfer machine. I'm not sure who your carrier is but I'm sure they'll do it for you
Use google sync
Hello All,
Hope you are doing good. Here, I'm posting a question after goggling a lot with no solution.
I have two android phones, Samsung Galaxy Tab and HTC Desire X.
I have inserted my SIM into Galaxy Tab and currently browsing, texting and making/receiving calls only on that.
As you know, it is very difficult to talk using Tab as it is heavy. So, I want to receive those calls on my HTC Desire X (by using some app, please note that it doesn't have SIM).
Please let me know if there is a way to receive calls from different phone.(I don't prefer bluetooth headset)
I tried tablet talk, but it works in other way. Using this I can receive SMS and calls on tablet but cannot receive on HTC desire x (non-tablet)
Thanks
And I prefer this third party app should use bluetooth for sync.
I prefer not to do it at all because if someone gets into my account they have everything on my phone so yeh

It sounds cool but actually difficult to be carried out.
Never heard of any technique that enables a phone without a SIM card to call and send SMS via another phone.
Have you heard about tablet talk
