The makers of Cyanogen Mods don't own samsung phones. They own HTC phones. So the chances of them porting to the SG3 it's very low. Specially since it's a lower end phone compared to the Fascinate and Spica. I think there's a CM for SGS.
They might not be having this phone but saying that they do not work on low end device is incorrect. Htc wild fire is also a low end phone. Gs3 is better than buzz in many ways.

Cyanogen Mod ROMs arent there yet for SG3. That said, we do have quite a decent number of custom ROMs available. There is a thread specifically for this ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950560
It has all custom ROMs, FIXes, THEMEs and such... Hope it helps those needing a custom ROM.

Custom ROM, yes. But I'm dreaming about Gingerbread for SG3. Not theme for LaucherPro or custom framework. Real Gingerbread like in CM.
no man, no rom can be compared to CM mod other than kyrillos' rom, and even that isnt just as 'customizable as CM mod! besides CM mod is ginger bread whereas all other custom roms are im pretty sure froyo!
i have cyanogen mod 7 on my Samsung Galaxy 3 and it has android 2.3.4. first i rooted it using super click and then flash it through odin

One question regarding this, even though it might be a little off-topic. What does it take for a Cyanogenmod port to become official, like getting it to show up on the Cyanogenmod website? I know there are people working on this port for the G3 which are not involved in the Cyanogenmod project, so is there any way to get it official even or is it just like another custom rom?
Now that Samsung has official ICS kernal any chance development can port to our device

It's great news if you have an SGSII, which they released the ICS kernel source to.

Also consider that the International sgs2 uses the Exynos421x processor, where as the sgs4g uses the intrepid-hummingbird S5PC110 processor. Totally different.
7TimesCursed just gave me a tip that will help me move forward with CM7. (something I was hung up on)
CM9 is also still under development. A port would mean a buggy phone.
An ICS port would indeed be better.
After CM7 port is done, I still have plans to rebase our phone specific kernel stuff to the samsung aosp kernel. That my help us port to the 3.0.1 kernel that ICS uses. This is still a ways off, and hopefully by then CM9 will stabilize.
To the future!

I'll send a request for a AOSP based Jellybean 4.2 rom for galaxy 3
To whom?
Sent from my GT-I5800 using xda app-developers app
Not even quad core devices have 4.2 yet..
And you want a Single Core phone that cant really handle 4.0/4.1 to have 4.2?
>.<
Also, you have a Galaxy Y by looking at your posts..
Why do you need 4.2 on a Galaxy 3. If you havent noticed they are pretty different devices..

And i request for official cm10 stable build, official cwm recovery and a port of quad core processor to our phone. Can you please do it. Look, thinks don't work here by merely requesting. If somebody had enough time for it, and had it been possible, it would already have been there.

The developers in the I9000 are working on it
As for the Galaxy 3 getting 4.2; having owned this phone once upon a time and spending time browsing these forums... If it can't handle 4.0/4.1 perfectly its not a good idea to ask for 4.2...

I'm not so sure about that. Correct me if I'm wrong but JB is easier to port, and more stable than ICS on most phones. I don't know if JB is easier to port than GB, though.
Either way, most people seem to have moved on. Support will diminish rapidly, if it already hasn't. It's sad.

may we fight for any future android os but fact is that till kernel 3.4x and open source driver for fimg 3dSE project doesn't get completed our phone will be incomplete as this two are vvvvvvvvvvv.imp projects for Samsung galaxy 3 i5800/i5800 .
Our Phone was incomplete the moment we were told that we wouldnt get official Gingerbread..
lets face it, if marcellusbe stops developing, this phone is screwed.....
There are some other Rubens , Sad , hillbeast, kyrillos13, Michał12 , tom3q and team ...... but i think The Samsung G3 Apollo i5800 Forum ..... Is becoming like Nintendo ....
Please Devs Give Us ... the 4.2 AOSP or Aokp and we will not bordering you any more ....
I agree there are others, and their work is valuable, Hillbeast just said he may make another Froyo rom, kyrillos13 just updated his, but things are a lot different from how it was a year ago, people move on and new phones are released, the g3 is a good little phone, jb worked so much better than I thought, but its at the end of its development life.
I have apps that will only run on gb, and other apps that will not run well because of the lack of memory, while my wife had a galaxy mini, and it runs gb without a problem, official upgrade

Jellybean 4.2 doesn't even work on the Galaxy S2 because Google have locked down the way the system controls graphics to stop Samsung releasing terrible old broken drivers and libraries. If the Exynos 4 isn't going to play nice, I wouldn't be expecting the S5P6442 in our little G3 would either. Don't hold your hopes up.

Hahaha... Nintendo.. Nice one..
i think we are expecting too much from dev if you also want to run 4.2 please guy be practical enuf as only too android os that should be complete are gb and jellybean as this are only two project were dev are able to run most of thing running so keep your finger cross and wait and watch or help dev at least to finish pending project even if u get latest wat use of that if your not get complete experience of it
Mhmm. As the others said, its all or nothing. Its a bit... Impractical to ask devs for a 4.2 release purely because a phone can only be taken so far in terms of OS. No doubt 4.2, while being an incremental update to 4.1.2, changed quite a bit about Jelly Bean. And if Google really has locked down on graphics control in 4.2, then the G3 will have a hard time...
Maybe things will change and a 4.2 update will come through for the Galaxy 3. But until then... Don't get your hopes up too high.

Is there is any chance that samsung going to release official version of jellybean to I9000?
There won't be any update to ICS or Jelly bean by Samsung.
Custom ROMs will be the only possibility to use anything newer then Gingerbread.
If this answer helped you in any way, hit the thanks button.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100
ROM: XenonHD v10
No chance. But you can flash cm10 like I did, and cm10 is a jellybean mod.

first ... sell ur old I9000 ... and buy the new with latest android version and specs... instead find the custom rom and flash it on I9000.. the performance does not improve much cos of old tech on I9000
Not even a chance as Samsung decided to not even update it to ICS. The best possible option is to install a custom recovery and install a custom roms there a quite a lot and you might what you want there. If not your other choice would be to sell it and buy a S2 or S3 as the prices are coming down now that they are old phones.

And where is this official list? That picture in the posts above is just nothing. The fact that they considering update this doesn't means that we will get it. Even on sammobile.com they say this:
"However, just because Samsung is considering the update doesn’t mean the updates will actually come – the Galaxy S4 mini is one device that is most likely to get the update, but for the other devices on that list, there might not be much hope, if only because Samsung’s heavy and bloated TouchWiz skin might negate the work Google has done on reducing the memory consumption on Android 4.4 KitKat."
So no more updates for ACE2. That's the big bold fact.

To be honest - if KitKat on Ace 2 will ever be released and will be full of bloatware, such as JB, then I prefer unofficial CM releases. At least they're smooth and very fast and they don't kick off the launcher from memory as JB did, when I tried to go back from any app.

additionally Samsung original firmwares are very unwieldy. I don't think so new original firmware fast, reliable and useful. Cause Samsung accomplish the break 4.4 KitKat fast and reliable key points.

Yes but then we have more 4.4 blobs for custom rom and maybe kernel source 3.4.X. I don't believe, but if samsung release kitkat for Ace 2, we have some benefits from it.
I hope one day samsung release stable jb 4.1.2 like old 2.3.
MG2 is good, but it's not stable like GB. (freezes, UI lag, games lags).
i wish someone could make fully working AOKP 4.4 for my Ace II

Even if samsung release any JB update (up to 4.2.x 4.3.x) or even a kitkat after having such messed up 4.1.2 I am not going to use them (well maybe as a base for further flashing). At this momment, custom roms are only option here. Luckilly, we have some skilled rom builders here so we should be fine for now
