In the course of 3 years, I have spent $204.50 USD. I thought it was note worthy, so share your numbers!!
MOD edit- Please remember that here on XDA it is against the rules to post or to discuss how to obtain apps that cost money for free

I'm not sure I know how to tell. I've bought everything I felt worthy of buying for sure. Some of them I couldn't do without. I mean, who would really try to find pirated Android apps to save 99 cents? :cyclops:
$32.46 in 4.5 months.
Around $10. In two years is not that much
i never bought one app.
around 20$ in the last 1.5 years

Probably the Samsung Galaxy Note III.
Please remember that we do not post or discuss how to obtain "paid for apps" for free here on XDA
I last two years I have spent about $60. I do not play games, though, so these are tools mostly, and music apps.
For a single use, I usually get free apps, but when I use an application for a longer time, I want to show my appreciation to a developer, and I buy it. Most of the time it is not a lot of money, anyway.
0.00 I'm cheapo xD

What's stopping me from adding 2 lines to my plan, getting 2 skyrockets or iphones for next to nothing, then selling them for $280 each, then buying out the contact on the 2 new lines, and pocketing $160? Am I missing some fine print?

Not really, I pay $9.99 for a skyrocket, someone gives me $280, I ship them the skyrocket, I pay $200 fee to buy-out the line I added, I pocket $80. Could do it with any phone that has a good deal going on.

Seriously? This is the worst idea ever. I know you need the money, but this is not the way to do it.
Like someone said, it's going to cost you $722 plus tax just to get them both off contract. You won't make a profit, period. That's even if you go for the iPhones because no one's going to buy a 3GS when it's about to be unsupported starting TODAY in like a few hours time. The iPhone 4 8GB is not worth it either when you can get the 16GB for the same price.
When people look to buy phones, they don't want them at retail prices, which is what you would have to do in order to make a profit.

Actually latest report I read said 3GS actually showed up on the leaked iOS6 file links.
*confirmed now
Seriously wish Android makers would steal this aspect from Apple. One of the biggest downsides to Android is most of the phones lose official support in 10-16 months. Apple is still updating 3GS after 3 years.

No, these do not change. I picked up the ones I thought were worth it already yesterday. Granny Smith, Asphalt 7, Draw Something.
Runtastic is good if you run, which I don't. Except the 5 minutes at the gym.
Looks like the only one worth something in here is OfficeSuite Pro 6... but I will know next week, when the lectures will start. Someone recommends anything from that list?

World Of Goo for 25p? I'm having some of that! I paid £7 for it on Wii and loved it, so 25p to have it portable is a bargain! Hoping there'll be more great games like that available in the sale.

Depends on your financial situation. I always get the "last year's" model... Which will be the S3 next year because it is a lot cheaper with comparable hardware and software to the newer models.

I don't get people who do this. If you're going to make a commitment to a phone for 2 years (or more) why wouldn't you go for the top end so it isn't obsolete on arrival? The money you spend monthly on your plan is where the real money spent comes from, 200 upfront is nothing compared to 50+ a month for service?

Coz i don't want to pay $200-300 for a phone when I can get a fairly newer model at less than $50. I got my skyrocket for $10. It is all about timing and patience. I also have a 2 year old son... Given that fact, I can spend $100[phone+upgrade fee] and still have another $100-200 for my son.

Because $200 up front isn't "nothing" for a lot of people.
If anything, sites like XDA have bolstered the argument for getting a phone that's a generation behind the latest. The Captivate, while not the fastest beast on the market, probably still has 18-24 months of life left as a perfectly usable phone thanks to custom ROMs and devs keeping it up to date. The Skyrocket will be a perfectly good phone for another 2-3 years. My Note II is the last phone I'm getting until, most likely, 2016-ish.
The "latest and greatest every year" mentality is one I curse Apple for creating to this day. Before the iPhart came out, you just didn't see people rushing to stores every 12 months to drop $700 on a phone...

If you "just can't wait," then go with the GS III, I have mine and love it. There is a heck of a lot of support here in XDA for the GS III.
BUT if you can wait, then the GS IV is supposed to be coming out "in the next few months," from statements I have read online. BUT the specs are (so far) near of the same as the GS III and Note II. Honestly I like the note for what it is, but it is just a bit too big for my liking. The GS III however is just about perfect.

Some people can do it , some others don't. For me I buy them contract free, I don't like to be attached, other people just cant afford to dispose of 200.00 so easily.
So I suggest getting what you want at the price you can afford (simple).

50% off on samsung accessories - FREE 48 GB Dropbox with your GS4
I bought my GS4 with T-Mobile, shortly I received an email from Dropbox asking me to claim my free 48 GB storage, so I did, now I have a total of 53 GB storage with them.
I decided to register my GS4 in my Samsung.com account, really easy you need your imei # date of purchase and store where you bought it.
Same day Samsung send me a code for 50% off on any accessory less than $50
So I purchase the external battery & Samsung charger for 25 bucks.

Make sure your carrier is participating
Some carriers have opted out of the promotion on phones otherwise eligible. Among those not currently participating are the following carriers:
United States: AT&T
Japan: NTT DoCoMo
Verizon customers: Some Samsung devices on Verizon may be eligible for 48 GB of bonus space for one or two years. As described above, your device needs to be pre-loaded with the Dropbox app, or pre-loaded with the Dropbox out-of-box experience, to receive the applicable promotion. If your device does not have the Dropbox app pre-loaded, then it is not eligible.

Once your bonus space goes away, you can't upload more files, and have to remove some to get your space under the new limit when the bonus space expires... At least that's what happened with me about a year ago.
